A/N: Okay, so, um...funny story. I was supposed to release this story in June 2020, when Burnout Paradise: Remastered released on the switch, but stuff came up, etc. After a while, I forgot that I was even working on this. One day, I was going through drafts and ideas that I have written down in my notebook until I came across this. So, heh. Since we're in the summer season, I might as well get this out now.
The reason I even came up with this idea in the first place was that I've been playing a lot of "Burnout Paradise Remastered" on my Nintendo Switch during that time, when this story idea popped up, and while I also have "NFS: Hot Pursuit Remastered" on the switch, Burnout Paradise will always be my favorite of the two. Thus, the very creation of this fanfic.
Now, in terms of this story, Kurome and Adult Neptune are set to head into Paradise City, their all time favorite place to do some action racing, but when Uzume gets curious about it, the duo decides to bring her along with them and show her what goes on around the city. Therefore, Uzume will learn what it means to "burnout" in Paradise City.
In case you wondering "When will you get back to making Hyperdimension Racing: Hot Pursuit?". Well, I just returned to that story not too long ago. I did not forget about that story. Not at all. I just needed to make some corrections and whatnot. I even had to rewrite some of the recent chapter. So yeah. The story will still continue.
Anyway, without further ado, let's begin.

Hyperdimension Racing: Burnout In Paradise City
Chapter 1: Preparing For The Trip
On a hot, summer day in Gamindustri, Kurome Ankokuboshi and Adult Neptune were in their house, packing some things they'll need. Tomorrow, the duo were going to be heading out of Gamindustri for the summer and will be spending it at their all time favorite place to do some action packed racing: Paradise City.
"Alright. Adult Neptune, is your stuff packed and ready?" Kurome asked.
"Sure is." Adult Neptune answered. "I gotta say, its going to be awesome returning to this place to do some racing."
"I know, right? Since Gamindustri isn't hosting any racing tournaments for a while, its nice to just get away and do some action packed racing, and Paradise City is just the place to do it." Kurome replied.
"Yeah! I can't wait to thrash some cars, whether its racing or just plain battling!" Adult Neptune exclaimed, raising her fist in the air.
"You and me both, buddy." Kurome responded.
Just then, they both heard a knock on the door. Kurome got up and walked over to it. She opened it, only to see Uzume in the doorway.
"Hey, girls." Uzume greeted.
"Hey, Uzume!" Adult Neptune happily greeted, waving to Uzume.
"What's up?" Kurome greeted as well.
"Nothing much. I was just passing through, then I decided to stop by and see how the two of you were doing." Uzume said. "Besides, its been awhile since we last saw each other, Kurome. How have things been since "that time?"
The sudden mention of "that time" gave Kurome a bit of a shiver down her spine. She knew what Uzume was talking about all too well. However, not wanting to remember all the mess, Kurome shrugged the feeling off and answered her.
"Its been going well, actually. I went through my phase of redemption, and now, I'm an official resident in Planeptune." Kurome answered. "Since then, me and Adult Neptune have been living here."
"Well, that's great to hear. Anyway, I see you two are busy getting packed. Where are you two heading?" Uzume asked, noticing the packed luggage next to Adult Neptune.
"We're going to Paradise City for the summer." Adult Neptune answered.
"Yep. That's where me and Adult Neptune usually go around the summertime." Kurome added. "I mean, its a good spot for a vacation, but that really isn't the only reason why we go there."
"Oh? Well, from what I heard, Paradise City is a nice vacation spot. Why else would anyone go there?" Uzume asked.
"The racing." Kurome answered.
Uzume's eyes widened upon hearing the answer. There was racing in Paradise City? She needed to know more. After all, its been a year since she did any racing, and due to the chaos that occurred during the kart race last year, Gamindustri had put racing tournaments on hold until a proper racing committee was assigned.
Maybe this would be the best opportunity to get back into racing, but she needed to know more before deciding.
"Racing? There is racing there?" Uzume asked.
"Yeah. The racing there is even more exciting and more action packed than what we're familiar with." Kurome said.
"Exciting racing?" Uzume beamed, her eyes beginning to sparkle.
"Yep." Kurome and Adult Neptune said in unison as they continued packing.
"Well now, you've got my attention. What's the racing like over there?" Uzume asked, now suddenly curious.
Kurome and Adult Neptune stopped what they were doing and looked at Uzume.
"The racing over there...is unlike anything you've ever seen when it comes to racing. There are no limitations, its open street, and the city is the Driver's Ultimate Playground." Kurome answered.
"You know how in some racing games, they would board off the open roads when a race goes on? Well, not in that place. In that city, we race on the open streets, crawling with shortcuts that could help reach the finish first." Adult Neptune added.
"Not only that, but normal racing isn't the only event there. There are also events like stunts, scripted chases, and car battles." Kurome added. "It really is the place to be if you're up for extreme racing."
"Wow...That all sounds really cool!" Uzume said, now interested.
"I know, right?" Adult Neptune chimed in.
"You know, you seem interested in something like this, given how cool these events are. So, would you like to join us on this trip, Uzume?" Kurome asked.
"Oh! That's a great idea! Join us on this adventure, Uzume!" Adult Neptune exclaimed in excitement.
"It would be an honor. After all, I've been wanting to get back into the swing of things when it came to racing, but Gamindustri has taken a bit of a break from racing tournaments since that whole "kart racing" incident last year." Uzume answered.
"Wait, there was a kart racing event that happened last year? What happened?" Kurome asked.
"You don't want to know..." Uzume and Adult Neptune replied, getting shivers down their spine.
"Okay then..." was all Kurome could say after that. "Anyway, back to my question from earlier. You want to come with us on this trip?"
"Of course...Although, this is going to be my first time over there, so you guys may have to walk me through some of the stuff there." Uzume said.
"Figured..." Kurome thought to herself. "Alright. We leave first thing tomorrow morning. If you want to pack anything for this trip, I recommend doing so today."
"Alright. I'll also let Nepsy and the others know that I'll be out of town for the summer." Uzume replied.
"Good call. See you tomorrow, Uzume." Adult Neptune said.
With that said, Uzume waved goodbye to Kurome and Adult Neptune before she closed the front door and proceeded to walk back to the Planeptune Basilicom to pack up for herself. Meanwhile, once the duo finished packing, they stepped out of the house and proceeded to walk to the Virtua Forest for a little stroll. While they were walking, the duo decided to converse with each other.
"Something tells me this is going to be a fun summer for all three of us." Adult Neptune said.
"I know, right? Maybe this will be a nice change of pace for her." Kurome added.
"I wouldn't say that yet." Adult Neptune replied in a serious tone, catching Kurome by surprise. "The race events are one thing, but the other events, like the stunts and the chases get a bit stressful and intense if you don't know what you're doing. Plus, there is that"Big Surf Island" area. That is when things get even crazier."
"Come on, Adult Neptune. This is Uzume we're talking about. She has handled crazier stuff. We both would know." Kurome stated. "Besides, I think she'll have a blast at Big Surf Island."
"Yeah. You do have a point." Adult Neptune said with a sigh. "Either way, this should be a fun trip. What's the worst that can happen?"
Kurome gulped upon hearing that. Sooner or later, they were going to find out.

Yeah, "Hyperdimension Racing" is about to be a series that I'm doing, with this story being the first, then the Hot Pursuit story being the second.
