Trouble in Paradise

Summary: The Mystic Isles Protectors have fallen victim to chaos, thanks to an evil entity called Necazuri. Cedric and Sofia join Butterford to stop her, but while on their mission, the sorcerer is plagued with off-putting visions and Necazuri's taunting voice in the back of his mind, causing him to question everything and everyone around him, even Sofia. (Takes place 3.5 years after my Season 5 stories, and most notably after the events of The Tainted Ten)

Disclaimer: I don't own Sofia the First. I do own Charlie and Serena (both mentioned), Butterford, Muscles, Ira (mentioned), the AutoCoach, and Necazuri. Nana and Tanya belong to MarionetteJ2X.

A/N: Wrapping things up: short but sweet. Hope you all have enjoyed! 😊

Chapter 6: Reignited

The next day, things were relatively back to normal again. Butterford was reunited with his family, and Nana and Tanya were perfectly fine and back in Enchancia. While the children were staying in the castle, enjoying a day to themselves, Cedric and Sofia were in her garden, reclining on a blanket, mostly talking and enjoying some much-needed time together.

Sofia had worn a simple white gown with no shoes, and her hair was free from its normal updos, streaming down her back and into the grass as she lay next to Cedric. He'd shed his robe and gloves not long after arriving, citing the heat as a problematic source. Together, they were rather cozy beside each other, enjoying each time the wind rushed by, rustling the grass and flowers, some of the small blades tickling their skin and causing them to laugh.

Sofia picked a small daisy from the ground, twirling it in her fingers a few moments, before reaching over and tapping Cedric on the nose with it. She grinned as he sputtered a bit. "I thought you'd made peace with nature," she teased, giggling as he shot her a pointed look.

"I'm fine with it as long as it's in nature." He chuckled, pulling her closer to his side, sighing as she reclined against him and caressed the petals of the daisy. "I…have a question for you, Sofia…"

"Hmm?" She yawned once, setting the daisy aside, and then she turned to face her husband, her arms resting on his chest as she smiled down at him. "Are we finally going to talk about…yesterday?"

He swallowed nervously before nodded. "Um… I don't quite know how to even address this, but I suppose it's best just to ask…" Seeing her silent nod, her expression growing more curious, he asked, "Do you think it's possible that…Jas might actually have some romantic feelings for you? Or…even you for him?"

Sofia smiled softly as she extended her arm, her fingers gently brushing her husband's face as she sighed thoughtfully. "I know that Jas loves me, Cedric, but… It's the same love I have for him. The love we share for each other is so different from the love I have for you." She brushed her fingers through a bit of his hair, her nails gently grazing the shell of his ear, causing him to shiver a bit (which she noticed, if her giggle was any indication). "In a way, Jas is like an extension of myself… He's my Guardian, and he has protected and sheltered me from as much harm as he possibly could, often risking his own life…" She frowned at how very true those words were, and how bitter they still tasted on her tongue even now. "But in a way, I love him like a brother—like James—but also… it's different. It's hard to explain, but it's a very deep platonic affection, but to outsiders, it could be mistaken for something much more intimate."

"Yes, I have noticed," the sorcerer jested, reaching up to catch her hand in his, kissing her fingers as she smiled sweetly at him. "An easy mistake to make, no?"

"I know… With you, our love is so passionate, caring, deep and romantic. And I can promise you this, Cedric: I've never felt that sort of love for anyone besides you, nor do I feel it for anyone now—not Jas, or anyone…" She shifted a bit, reaching behind her, picking up something covered in a piece of ivory cloth. She sat up, unwrapping the item, revealing a small bouquet of hydrangeas: 'their flowers,' ever since she was young… "I want to reignite our connection and love that we've shared over the years," she told him, turning and passing the flowers over to him as he also sat up, gingerly accepting the gift. She watched his eyes roving over the beautiful small blooms, his fingers delicately caressing the petals. "I don't ever want you to think our love is fading or dying, because I'd never allow it."

Cedric smiled at the flowers before lifting his gaze to his wife. "The flame of my love for you has never died, Sofia… It's very much burning bright, even now." He lifted one of the flowers from the bouquet and carefully slid it into her hair, tucking it behind her left ear. "I love you so much, my princess."

"I love you too, my sensational sorcerer." She moved closer to him, climbing into his lap, and pressed her lips against his, kissing him with all the love she had within her.

Meanwhile, several hundred feet away from the couple…

"Nigel!" Cordelia chided as she chased the older man with a broom. "If you don't stop stealing my undergarments, I'm going to confiscate every single one of your ascots!"

"Only if you promise to use them in a creative and seductive way, my sweet!" he called cheerfully, winking at her as he rounded a nearby tree, darting away from her yet again, just before she could grab his shoulder. "Missed!"

"Nigel!"
