Prompt: July 10 – blue flowers
Holmes and Watson cautiously peered into the gramophone's large trumpet, which had been hand-painted to look like a vivid, sky-blue morning glory. It was not the beauty or realism of the paint that drew their attention. It was the fact that the gramophone was still merrily playing away despite their quarry having made a hasty escape from the house.
It was not surprising that Lord Griffin had fled when they entered the house. But why had he taken the time to wind up and start the gramophone?
Watson peered deeper into the blue trumpet and noticed a tiny tube at the center, almost like a real flower's pistil. But this "flower" had no need of pollination, and anyway, wouldn't the tube interfere with the sound coming from it? "Holmes," he began.
"Move!" Holmes shouted and pulled the doctor away from the trumpet as a poisoned dart shot out of it.
