Drakken sat in his lab, with a pen in his mouth and tapping his fingers slightly on the desk. He was on the verge of ripping his hair out, but he had one more interview to get through, and this better be the one. His ad for assistant in Villain's Digest had brought him many applicants. Once he weaved through the villain wannabe's, there were 5 people he did want to interview. However, he had struck out on every person thus far, and after this, he was out of options. He needed someone with muscles and the ability to fight. He felt his own anger build up inside of him at the thought of giving away some power to someone else, but he has heard of this Kim Possible. He has seen footage of her and her dopey sidekick in action, and although he was hesitant to admit it, he could never take over the world with her in the picture.
He wasn't a fighter. He had brains (one of the greatest minds of the generation, in his humble opinion), but he was absolutely useless in combat. He had henchmen like any normal villain, but they wouldn't do. Kim Possible has defeated henchmen all over the world from every villain she has come into contact with. If he was going to beat Possible, he needed something more. Something that no one else had. Something-
"Dr. Drakken?" a knock at the door and a voice took him out of his thoughts. He turned his chair to find himself staring at a gorgeous woman. She wore a black and green jumpsuit, and her long black locks went past her torso. Looking at her, he decided she was the very definition of perfection in terms of attractiveness. He shook his head. There is no way this woman is the one for combat. Although she had a devilish grin on her face, she looked like she cared way too much about her appearance to fight.
He cleared his throat. "Hello, Miss, uh?"
She rolled her eyes. "It's Shego. No need to have the miss in there."
He stood up to shake her hand, and she took it. "Uh Shego, did the henchmen just let you in? Normally, they bring the person interviewing up here." He felt his cheeks blush, and he silently cursed himself. Why was he suddenly so nervous?
She grinned. "Take a look out there and see what you think."
His puzzled expression could not go undetected by Shego as he entered the hallway, and his eyes widened at the scene. Henchmen- his henchmen- on the floor, knocked out cold. Drakken bit his lip before speaking. "Did you just-"
Suddenly her hands lit up with green plasma, and he jumped back. He had never seen such a thing be so natural. "I figured it would be easier if you saw what I could do instead of going through a bunch of pointless questions." She shrugged as she spoke, as if her response was something obvious.
"All the henchmen? From the entrance of the lair to this floor?" Drakken's eyes didn't leave her hands, which did not go unnoticed by Shego.
The fire in her palms disappeared as she crossed her arms over her chest. "They will wake up soon." She paused for dramatic effect before that smuggish grin reappeared on her face. "Maybe."
He laughed. He couldn't help himself. This woman was the perfect addition to his team. Someone that could come face to face with Kim Possible and defeat her. Once his laughs became controllable, he smiled at her. "Well Shego, when can you start?"
…
Drakken had spent all night working on a contract. Shego was willing to work with him, but she demanded a contract that she would read fully and even add in her own requests before signing. Drakken wanted her, so he played along. Surely, they could work something out that would serve both of their interests. And by all means, Drakken wasn't stupid. Once she left his lair, he did extensive research on Shego. She had been in Villians Digest a handful of times with articles praising her handiwork. The more he dug into his research, the more intrigued he was with Shego working for him. She seemed to always be hired help but never minded getting her hands dirty. She was wanted in 11 countries, all of which have articles about her crimes of violence: theft, arson, and even murder. The woman sure has bloodied up her hands, and the more he read about her, the giddier he felt. If anyone could kick Kim Possible off that high horse she was on, it would be Shego.
The next day, Shego sat across from him in his office, reading over the contract he had written. The contract stated that she would be loyal to him for a year, and at the end of one year, they could evaluate where they both stood. It had also stated her amount of pay and vacation time, which he was positive she would find incredibly generous, so he let himself relax into his chair as she looked it over.
"I don't do long term." Shego's words nearly had him out of his chair. He was about to argue that long term was in the ad she applied for, but before he could, she spoke again. "I'll do three months. If we want to make it long term after that, I'll sign another contract."
"But I-" he struggled to find his words. "I just- long term has always-" Shego raised an eyebrow at him, and he slammed his fist down on the table in defeat. "Arg! Fine." He grabbed the papers from her and changed the time frame to three months with an evaluation period at the end of that term. He tossed the papers back at her, and she smirked. Clearly, she thought, this guy is going to be easy to manipulate.
Shego began reading again, and suddenly stopped. She raised her head to meet his eyes, which were staring at her eagerly. "I want freedom to work with other villains," she said matter of factly.
His jaw dropped. "What? This is a job contract. You can't just-"
She waved her hand at him, causing him to halt his words. "I am typically a one and done type of girl. I am giving you three months with a possibility of going longer. I will assist you with what you need, but when you don't need me, I want freedom to do whatever I want with whomever I want."
His face twitched. She hadn't even signed his contract, and she was already getting on his last nerve. Drakken kept trying to speak, but more noises came out than words. She watched him, clearly amused, but she didn't say a word. He was about to tell her to forget the whole thing when he suddenly remembered every article he read about her last night. "Argh! You are so frustrating!" She crossed her arms, but her facial expression did not change.
"Fine. Okay. You can have freedom to work with others ONLY when I am not in need of your assistance." Drakken emphasized the word 'only,' and Shego smiled at him. He let out a deep, annoyed breath, and grabbed the papers from her once again to add this clause into the contract.
"Oh, and you're a mad genius scientist, right?" Shego asked, innocently.
He nodded and grinned at her. "You are looking at the greatest mind of the generation." It was his turn to be smug, but he was disappointed when she didn't take the bait.
"Yeah, whatever. In that case, you might as well add a no cloning clause in that contract. Actually, you can't use my DNA for anything, but especially not that."
His face twitched for the second time in the last 5 minutes. "You are impossible." She glared at him, unamused. He took a deep breath in and let it out slowly. "I'll go ahead and add that in here."
Once he was done, he passed the papers back to Shego. She grabbed the pen and signed her name. "Well, Dr. Drakken. Looks like you got yourself a new partner."
His eyebrows furrowed. "Assistant."
She crossed her arms. "Partner."
Drakken frowned but was willing to negotiate. "Side-kick."
Shego uncrossed her arms and ignited her hands, letting the threat of her plasma take over his mind. "Partner."
He laughed, nervously. "Partner," he agreed.
