-ONE SHOT-

...

"Today is the opening chapter of the tale of the Divine One and me. A story for the ages." Chloé would never forget this moment in time for as long as she lived. The Divine Dragon had offered her the Pact Ring and with it a chance to share in his life after the war.

His heartfelt confession prior made her heart flutter, and just knowing that she was a part of his dream for the future made her eyes glisten. Of course she would accept and wear the ring. What else could she say other than yes to Alear's beautiful proposal.

He gently slid the silver and gold ring onto her finger, and there it sat comfortably as if it were meant only for her. Perhaps it was, just like the characters in the fairy tales she so adored.

After taking a moment to admire the craftsmanship of the one-of-kind symbol of their love, she just as gently took the Divine One's hand into her own. Never before had she been so happy and so in love with another. She smiled warmly at the one who'd stolen her heart, and he did very much the same. The two of them moved in closer and shared their very first kiss under the early morning sun.

Both Chloé and Alear had waited so long for this moment, and they were going to treasure every precious second of it.

When they did finally pull away, they were left almost in a daze. Sharing a special moment like that was wonderful. So much so that they immediately did so again. He pulled her in closer by the waist and she quickly wrapped her arms around his neck.

This time their kiss was deeper and more passionate than their previous one.

Whatever the future held in store for them after the war, they'd tackle it head-on together.

"Ready to turn the page on a new day in our story?" Chloé asked her lightly snoring companion. After the day previous it was her turn to wake the Divine One from his slumber. Word quickly spread about him giving her the Pact Ring and as a result everyone on the Somniel decided to throw the two of them a party. "Still peacefully asleep"

It was a really nice affair too, even though it'd been hastily thrown together. Even Ivy and Yunaka got into it, and they weren't exactly the biggest fan of parties. Who knew the Queen of Elusia and the redhead could hold down so much wine.

The music, food, and games took their toll on everyone after a while and Alear was pretty much out of it once things had died down and the cleanup took place. He bid his partner goodnight and went off to bed where he fell fast asleep.

"If this were a fairy tale, I'd have to break a magic spell to wake you up." Chloé continued as stared at the Divine One's sleeping form. "Hehe, I guess it's a good thing it's not, since I wouldn't have an idea where to start."

The lance flier blushed. That wasn't entirely true. From what she learned in storybooks she had pretty good idea of what she could do.

"But even if our lives aren't actually all that storybook... I'm glad to live mine alongside you." She freely admitted. "And just like in all the best stories, I think we'll live happily ever after."

It wasn't long after she uttered those words that Alear began to stir from his slumber. Slowly he began to sit up and rub the sleep from his eyes as he was greeted by who he truly believed to be the fairest of them all.

"Morning." She waved. "Before we head out, why don't we spend some time together? We can forget all about this war business... and just relax and be happy for a while."

"Your sleeping face is as charming as ever." Chloé spoke softly. As days went on and the campaign against the Fell Dragon continued, she'd partially moved into the Divine One's private chambers. Hence why they were in bed together. Before when she asked to move into his chambers she'd been quickly shot down, but to be fair they didn't know each other all that well at the time.

Nope, she was just the blue-haired knight that liked to watch him sleep.

"When I became a knight... I didn't think my life could possibly get any more exciting. But then our paths crossed, and I found myself wrapped up in this incredible story. A story that will be passed down to future generations."

As a child she always wanted to be a part of a story like the ones she read. Now, there was no doubt that would come to pass.

"That's why I'm going to stay with you to the very end of it. So even after I pass on, you'll always be able to see me in a storybook..." It was a little sad to think about, but she wasn't under any illusions of what the Divine One being a dragon meant. Dragons lived for thousands of years while humans by comparison flickered out like candles.

The day would eventually come where she passed on into the next world and he'd be without her. But even if she couldn't be there with him physically, she still wanted him to be able to see her and smile.

It was then that the red and blue eyes of the Divine Dragon began to crack open. Chloé had a light blush growing on her cheeks and that in turn made Alear smile.

"Good morning." She greeted happily before tuning somewhat bashful. "Let's keep scenes like this one out of the books. I want the quiet moments we share together... to stay purely between us."

Alear continued to smile before gently planting a kiss on her forehead. He had no problem with that.

After a long and hard-fought battle, the Fell Dragon, Lord Sombron was finally toppled. With his defeat the war drew to a close and the time for healing could begin. Alear became the new Divine Dragon Monarch, and the bonds he forged with the rulers of each nation ensured a long-lasting peace.

While it was difficult, Chloé bid her partner Louis and her lady, Princess Céline goodbye. Since she and the Divine Dragon made the decision to wed it meant she would no longer be able to fulfill her duties as a retainer to her princess or the kingdom of Firene. She even bid Etie, Boucheron, Amber, and Prince Alfred farewell as well.

It was heartfelt parting with tears and the like, but they all knew they would see each other again soon in Lythos at the wedding since everyone was invited.

The wedding itself was absolutely immaculate. Chloé never felt closer to a character in a fairy tale in all her life. She was all dolled up and dressed in the most regal white dress she'd ever laid eyes upon. No doubt it was Vander's greatest work. It practically sparkled.

The affair was held outside with all of their friends and families present and her parents had also arrived to congratulate her on finally settling down like they envisioned for her. Since it was on her own terms she wasn't at all bothered by that fact. Her father walked her down the red carpet to the alter past were everyone was seated. Through her veil she could see Framme tossing flowers Veyle staring in awe at her dress.

What stood out most though was Alear who was waiting for her on stage with Alfred serving as his best man. He looked so breathtaking in his white and gold garb. It was a sight forever burned into her memory later forever captured in an oil painting curtesy of Rosado.

The Divine One carefully lifted her Veil and the two of them stared deeply into the other's eyes before the priest that arrived at the alter began proceedings. The two of them said their vows to one another and Alfred provided Alear with the wedding rings. The Pact Ring was back home in a beautiful accessory case that she'd decorated with Pegasus's feathers.

With their rings firmly in place and the anticipation reaching a fever pitch, the priest officially announced them man and wife. The two finally locked lips again to a chorus of cheers and claps. What followed soon after was another memorable party filled with joy and laughter.

Chloé really was living a fairy tale life. She was living her dream and, in the end, found her handsome prince who was technically a king. That made her queen, something she hadn't really given too much thought to until the party where she sat down to have tea with her former princess.

The night ended however when both she and the Divine One left the party to go home to their private chambers. It was yet another scene that wouldn't make it into the storybooks. That very special moment would be strictly for just them.

Many years passed since the Divine Wedding as it was now known, and in that time, life had been truly wonderful. Alear and Chloé took the time to set out and enjoy the peaceful world they'd helped to create. They laughed, cried, visited friends, and got to savor the taste of some very delicious folk foods.

They even got to experience the joy of starting a family when their daughter Lumera was born, named after the late queen herself. She was just simply the cutest little bundle of joy the couple had ever seen. The physical representation of their love.

After a while however, it was back to work per usual. Chloé was a steadfast supporter to her very busy husband and did everything in her power to lighten his load when she could. Even as the years ticked by and another little tyke entered their lives, the two stuck by each other, supporting the other with everything they had.

The love they shared was inspiring and spawned many a fairy tale for future generations. Their story was known as The Tale of The Divine One and Me, written by the great Wolf Knight hero known as Merrin of Solm.

Even as Millenia passed the story remained a tale that stood the test of time and had multiple versions retold by various different authors. Whenever Alear looked back on the original story he could still see his wife and her smiling face. He wasn't sad per say, as he knew one day, he'd see her again. He'd see all his old friends again.

Clanne, Framme, Vander, Alfred, Céline, Boucheron, Etie, Louis, Jean, Diamont, Alcryst, Amber, Jade, Citrenne, Lapis, Yunaka, Saphir, Ivy, Hortensia, Zelkov, Kagetsu, Rosado, Goldmary, Anna, Lindon, Timerra, Fogado, Merrin, Panette, Bunet, Pandreo, Seadall, Mauvier, Gregory, and Madeline. He'd even see his mother again too.

After all, The Tale of The Divine One and Me ends with happily ever after.

THE END!
