Hey guys! I'm going to keep this note short and sweet; this has been an idea for a while now and I finally wrote it out. Please review and thanks!

TMNT
It's funny how determination works. The anger, emotions that come with it. How it can simply save a person's life or destroy it. Destroy or create. Cold and hot. Everything has opposites, life, and death. Simple pleasure's that everybody takes for granite are the very creators of emotional turmoil. Death comes for everybody; nothing can change that fact. But maybe a little determination can preserve somebody's life expansion.
Cause all we need is a little hope, and enough strength to keep going on, with or without family. With or without support. With or without happiness. But is that enough? Family is essential but separation is real. Hard and dense. Hope can go a long way, but only if we allow it to.
TMNT
"Why does the world hate us?" Mikey cried out as he put pressure on his eldest brother's wound. The battle had subdued by a lot, by the time that the masked turtles made their appearance. But that didn't stop someone from impaling Leo, and sadly… Mikey had seen it all firsthand.
Keep breathing Leo…please
Breathing had become harder for Mikey; his panic and overwhelming sense of dread were the only things keeping him upright. Everything felt fuzzy as the pressure of his older brother's life was placed in his hands. Mikey didn't ask for any of this to happen, but it did. And now…it was all up to him. If Leo died, Mikey wouldn't be able to live with himself. Death would be the only option then. Cause living without a brother didn't seem possible, nothing would be the same.
Ever
Sure, Mikey had a good grasp on change, but this kind of change…. was all new. It was something from everyone's worst nightmares, losing someone that holds a piece of your heart. Even more than that, a piece of your soul. Something that could never be replaced.
"Keep breathing Leo," Mikey said boldly. His older brother was colder, lifeless than ever before, his eyes were dull, almost like Leo was giving up.
"No Mikey l-l can't b-be saved." Leo said, "It's over."
And just like that, something in Mikey snapped. Courage and bravery flowed through his veins; his mind sped up to intense speeds. Everything was red, but not in the way that many could sense it. Mikey was determined to save his brother.
It wasn't over
Nothing was ever over; people could be saved. Injuries weren't the beast; it was the person that acquired it. Taking a stance, Mikey pushed with all his might and strength on the open wound. Leo would live, he has to.
Hang on Leo
"Gosh dang it Leo, keep breathing," Mikey said.
Leo just gave a small smile, "Mikey, nothing is truly over. Let me go."
"No Leo, you didn't give up on me, I'm not giving up on you."
"Mikey, you're the best brother I could have asked for"
"No Leo, don't give up!"
His older brother's heartbeat begun to slow down, his harsh gasps and strangled breaths were the only forms of the softly spoken goodbye. His soul leaving for a better world. Way up above.
Giving one last breath, Leo smiled and gabbed his younger brothers hand and kissed it. Then…Leo was gone to the world.
"Noooo!" Mikey cried out not giving up just yet. Starting to give chest compressions, Mikey didn't let anything stop him. His brother couldn't be gone, not if he had anything to do about it.
Come on Leo…. Breathe!
"Mikey…"
Mikey looked up to see both of his brothers crying silently. Donnie shook his head softly and laid a hand on his younger brothers' shoulders. Raph just stared down in denial.
"Mikey he's gone"
"No, he isn't Donnie, I can't give up. I promised myself I wouldn't."
Donnie shook his head once more and tried to forget the simple memory that had caused so much pain and sorrow. It was almost like it happened yesterday.
Flash Back
"Donnie will Mikey be ok?" Leo asked. The mission that was intended to be one of ease had gone horribly wrong. The laser wounds and concussion were really showing on the unconscious Mikey. The cot that was set up proved as a worthy reminder that anything could go wrong.
Donnie sighed, "I did all that I could, it's all up to Mikey now."
The heartbreak and denial wore off long ago, Leo had hope that his Ototo would be alright. Mikey would pull though, he had to.
It had been five days since the incident and Mikey had showed no signs of waking up. As Leo sat down by Mikey's bedside, he touched the bandages on his younger brother's head. Leo winched as he remembered the sound of that awful pipe connecting with Mikey's head. The scream that shortly came after was even worse.
"Come little brother, wake up" Leo said softly as tears begun to fall. The lair hadn't simply been the same without Mikey's loving and caring attitude. The sly and sassy remarks or the delicious meals being cooked. The lair had felt empty, and dead.
A small groan brought Leo back to his senses. Struggling to open his eyes, the movements of rustling and groaning meant only one thing. Mikey was back.
"Leo?" Mikey groaned. Containing himself, Leo hugged his younger brother with much intended force, but not enough to hurt anyone. The tears that leaked from Leo's eyes couldn't be contained.
"Oh Mikey, you scared me,"
"I'm sorry Leo. I promise to never give up," Mikey said proudly ignoring a shot of pain radiating from his ribs.
"You do that little brother," Leo said one last time and gave a small kiss on top of Mikey's head. It wasn't reveled till a little while later that Donnie and Raph had heard the entire conversation, but it overall didn't matter. Because these were the moments that were the most important and precious.
End Flash Back
One thump, another breath. The amount of force that weighed on Mikey's shoulders were immense, the feeling of being crushed alive came into play. Everything came into play.
"Mikey stop! Your only tiring yourself out and for what!" Raph said. The feeling of being useless and there was nothing that could be prevented that, was absolutely devasting. The world felt like it was tipping on itself, the emotions in the air were overwhelming. It was not a fun feeling to experience.
"No Raph, I'm not giving up!" Mikey replied with haste. Words were not worth the effort right now, pumping and breathing were.
"Mikey Leo's gone! Can't you see that," Donnie said, he hated to admit the truth but being the medic in the family, the effort was fruitless.
And that's when it happened, a small gasp and a whole plane of hope came tumbling into existence. Leo gasped and Mikey sat him up.
"Impossible," Donnie gasped. Not wasting a moment to spare, Donnie quickly got down and sobbed as he gave a hug to his older brother. Raph followed.
Now, even though Leo was breathing, it didn't mean that he was saved. Blood loss and a concussion were not the only things wrong. As Mikey moved away from Donnie who was inspecting Leo, Mikey gave a small but exhausted smile.
Wow, saving someone can really take a lot out of someone
Mikey slumped and waited for the world to stop spinning, the initial adrenaline was gone. Now the true injuries that he had forgotten about showed themselves.
"Mikey? Are you all right?" Raph asked with concern. Mikey gave a small nod and helped his brothers get Leo home. Once they got home, Mikey gave blood to Leo for a transfer, now feeling even weaker, Mikey stumbled over to the couch.
"Hey Donnie, can you come check over Mikey?"
Looking up, Mikey saw that Raph was looking over him with a great amount of worry. But before anything, Mikey needed to make sure that his older brother was stable.
"Is Leo stable?" Mikey asked as Donnie came over to him with a first aid kit.
Donnie nodded with great pleasure, "Yup, all thanks to you."
"Ok now I will allow you to look over me."
"I was already going to look over you with or without your permission."
After a long period of silence, Donnie had finally finished his readings and looked highly disappointed.
"It seems that you have managed to gain a concussion and a few bruised ribs. You were in no position to preform CPR- "
Mikey was about to say something, but Donnie held up his hand first.
"But, I'm glad you did," Donnie said with a smile.
The next few weeks were not easy, far from that. Leo recovered better than expected which lessened the worry surrounding the lair.
But that simple past experience showed a lot about Mikey's character. About how he won't give up, for his family, for himself. Even if it mean's putting other's needs before his.
