Drakken had been avoiding her for three days (ever since they- argh she couldn't even make herself think it). The more time that passed, the more she felt her anger boil inside of her. Fine, she'll admit it. They had hot, impulsive, arguably toxic sex (she'd be lying if she said it wasn't the best sex she'd ever had, but she felt shitty enough without that thought roaming around her mind). She had felt sparks fly each time his lips touched a part of her body. The tingles his hands gave her while he let himself explore her made her insides twist. And the way he was so dominant but also made sure he had her consent before doing anything new was so damn sexy.

But she had hardly seen him since. It was like he was going out of his way to be in a different spot in the lair than she was, and she didn't know if she should be thankful for his absence to give herself some time to process this new development or be pissed that he was avoiding her (her clear anger told her she chose the latter). Did he regret it? Was it bad for him? (that thought was absurd! Of course it wasn't bad for him- she knew how good she was). What was he thinking? Did they just ruin their relationship- whatever kind of relationship it was they had? Honestly, she didn't even know what label to use; all she knew was that he was her home, and she had come in with a wrecking ball and destroyed it. Why had she kissed him anyway? He wouldn't stop talking, and all she could think of was that stupid kiss they had when she was on the moodulator, and she just wanted him to shut up, and she couldn't process all those emotions. She didn't even realize she had kissed him until they were already doing it, and by then, it was too late. She was all in, and so was he. He was all in. He had kissed her back. He lifted her on his desk. He took off her clothes. His hands roamed her entire body. It wasn't just her. He had done it too. Both of them were responsible, and both of them had enjoyed doing it, so why was he avoiding her?

She sighed deeply and hugged herself, trying to rid herself of her own vulnerability. What they did had been a mistake (no matter how much she enjoyed it), and she didn't know how they were going to come back from this.

Drakken could admit to himself that he had been avoiding Shego since that night in his lab. He hated himself for it, but he didn't know how to approach her without making a fool of himself. He has never been in this situation, and frankly, he didn't know what to do or what any of it meant. He had known long ago that he had feelings for her, but he had pushed those feelings aside. Then the moodulator made her all wonky, and even after the effects of the device wore off, she had been extra cruel. But then she kissed him, and boy was that magic. He had planned on stopping it, but she was persistent, and he was only human.

Honestly, if anyone had asked Drakken a week ago why Shego stuck around, he would answer with a shrug and say he paid her well enough. He was convinced that he was just something that she tolerated because they both had the same goal; he had no idea she could possibly like him any more than that, but when he thought about it, he realized how stupid he had been for thinking it. She flirted with his boundaries all the time (although he would argue that she used her good looks and charm to get her way). She had volunteered to teach him how to dance when she thought doing so would make him happy. She pestered him about making sure he slept and ate when he got too distracted about work. She left her vacation early last winter to help him. She slept in his bed when he was sick in case he needed her. She had even cried to him a few times when he knew that was something she rarely did . She had to care for him if she did all of that, right? None of that was in her contract, but she still did them. Did she like him like that? Of course not. That was absurd. Someone as attractive and self-aware as Shego could not fall for someone as dorky as himself (even if he was a mad genius). But she kissed him first.

He was so sick of having this argument with himself. This was probably just a one time thing for her (he knew she was no stranger to the casual one night stand), and he had to keep his feelings out of it. If he couldn't do that, he could risk not only losing her as a sidekick, but he could risk losing her as a friend (if that was what they were calling it). No feelings, no problems, right?

….

Shego sat in the lounge, flipping through a magazine when Drakken walked in with a notebook in his hand. "Oh…..Doc." She felt herself blush at the sight of him. "Hi."

He sat down across from her. There was so much he wanted to say. Looking at her made him want to cry, but he held that back and moved on to other things. "Shego, my next idea is going to be so grand! I have built an atmosphere destructor. It will tarnish the air, making it unbreathable. If they want breathable air, they can bow down to me!"

She frowned. It took everything in her not to blast him. This is the first time he had talked to her since they did what they did, and this is what he wanted to talk about?! His next scheme? Was he fucking serious? "Are we just going to-" she stopped herself from finishing her sentence. Fuck him. If he wants to pretend like it didn't happen, then fine. So could she. She stroked her hair. "How are WE supposed to breathe, Dr. D?"

He smiled at her. "I am so glad you asked," he said as he showed her his sketchbook of the plan, which included them wearing space helmets. She groaned.

…..

She had gone back to being extra cruel to Drakken, and she couldn't take being around him anymore. She couldn't tip toe around it the way he was. She wanted to talk about it, but she blushed at the mere thought of having the conversation. She wanted to do it again, but she also wanted to crawl under a rock so that she didn't die of embarrassment. She didn't know what she wanted, but he clearly had made up his mind. So when Drakken's evilness got transferred over to the buffoon, Shego jumped ship. It was easy to ditch the doctor for the one thing that would always make her feel better: evil. And unfortunately, the only person in front of her that wanted anything to do with evil was Zorpox (what a stupid alias name, but whatever).

Ron proved to be a better villain than Drakken anyway. He was smarter and handier, but his attitude toward her was about to piss her off. "Sidekicks need to know their place," he said as he opened up the shark tank in an attempt to scare her.

Her eyes grew wide. This was so not happening. She put her hands up in surrender. "I'm just going to go check the security cameras. And that evil laugh of yours? I love it! It's great." She crossed her arms as she walked away from him, rolling her eyes. This may have been a mistake, but at least she knew Kimmie would come back for him. Because Kimmie is a better friend than she will ever be. Kimmie would die for Ron. Shego ditched Drakken to avoid an embarrassing conversation. Was she really this pathetic?

"You ditched me for that?" Drakken growled at her as he pointed to Ron.

She tapped her fingers together, unamused by him. "Uh. Did you see his mega weather generator?"

Drakken crossed his arms. "NYGH! Shego, I swear I will-"

She shoved him, and Kim and Ron glanced at each other, clearly confused, before turning their attention back to the two villains in front of them. "I wouldn't have ditched you at all if you weren't so fucking ridiculous"

His face twitched. "Please enlighten me on how I'm the ridiculous one."

Her hands lit up with impulsive anger. Kim leaned into Ron. "We should get out of here before this gets ugly."

Ron nodded as he gulped. "Yeah. I had a bad enough day without getting vaporized by an angry chick." Shego threw a couple of plasma blasts in Drakken's direction, causing Ron to run. "Let's go, KP!" he said as they both snuck out of the lair, leaving Drakken and Shego alone.

"You just- you-" Shego couldn't get her words out, and when she looked at Drakken on the floor from her anger, her heart ached. Her plasma withdrew into her palms as she fought back her tears. "Just forget it."

Shego turned to leave, but he stood up quickly and grabbed her arm, pulling her back. "Shego, what do you want from me?"

She faced him, and she suddenly felt like she was on the moodulator again; her emotions were everywhere but nowhere all at once. She felt everything while simultaneously shoving so many of those feelings away that she almost felt nothing. "You just acted like it didn't happen," she whispered, hating herself for falling victim to her own emotions.

His mouth dropped. "I-I thought that's what you wanted."

She shrugged as she lowered her head, trying to look anywhere but at him. "Did you-" she couldn't even make herself finish her sentence. "Did we make a mistake?" she asked instead.

He frowned as his eyes dropped. "I- uh- do you think it was a mistake?"

She lifted her head and met his eyes. It certainly didn't feel like a mistake. She shrugged. "Maybe. I don't know. It sort of feels like we complicated everything."

He nodded his head in reluctant agreement. "We could just operate as if it didn't happen, and just go back to how we were before all of this. You know, partners."

His use of the word partner made her heart pound. She knew he thought of her as a sidekick. He was using the word partner to appease her. She bit her lip. "Right. Yeah, of course." She extended her hand out to him. "Partners."

He smiled slightly as he reached to shake her hand. As their hands touched, tingles moved up and down his spine, and suddenly he was pulling her toward him so that he could collide their lips.

She kissed him back eagerly. He wrapped his fingers in her hair as her tongue fought his for dominance. He lifted her on the table, and she leaned back, bringing him with her. He was on top of her now, and he shivered as she let out a soft moan of pleasure. Yep, partners, he thought as they tore off their clothes and let themselves indulge in each other.
