Each time Shego and Drakken got physical (which had been more and more frequent in the last four months; all she had to do was say something lippy, and they somehow ended up in bed) Shego had accidentally burned him. It was easy to play it off at first, but it was becoming more and more frustrating to deal with.
"Maybe I can run some tests to see what is wrong with your powers," Drakken said as he sat up on his bed.
Shego pulled the covers up over her chest as she sat up with him. "Absolutely not! There's nothing wrong with them."
"Tell that to the burns all over my body," he mumbled.
She frowned. Honestly, she had felt bad for this last one. Previously, it had been a small mark on his neck or his shoulder, but today both of her hands had been clawing at his back when they had ignited. She had no idea what had gotten into her. She's never lost control like this before. She moved her body closer to his, and she ran a hand down his back, letting herself examine the damage she had done. "I really didn't mean to," she whispered.
Drakken sighed as he turned to face her. He pushed a strand of hair away from her face and smiled at her. "I know you didn't mean to." He leaned down to kiss her. It was quick, but he felt electricity run through his veins. "Have you been losing control any other time recently?"
She shook her head. If she had been out of control, she would have definitely remembered it, but the only times she could recall her hands igniting without her knowledge was when she was having sex with Drakken. It didn't make any sense. She's had sex with plenty of other men, and that had never happened. Her last encounter before Drakken was with Mark at the resort last Christmas, and he didn't even know she had powers until she got angry with him and wanted him to leave.
Drakken's face fell when he noticed the sorrow in her eyes. She was confused, and she didn't want to admit to not having control. He intertwined his fingers with hers down in her lap. "I know you don't want to hear this, but maybe you should call your brothers. They might have an idea."
She pulled her hand from his the second the words left his mouth, and her face hardened. "I would burn this whole planet to the ground before I asked them for help."
Drakken reached for her hand again, but she pulled away, got up from the bed, and began putting her clothes back on. "Shego, if it's happened to one of them before, they might know how to fix it."
She groaned as she pulled her shirt over her head. "I don't care," she practically growled. Once she was fully dressed, she left his room without another word. He sighed as he leaned back into bed. Bringing up her brothers? Not the best idea he's ever had.
….
Drakken had been angry about his Lather, Rinse, Obey shampoo not selling on the shelves. He was so angry that there was no sweet talking him out of karaoke night. She pleaded to get out of it, but it was no use, and so now she was at a damn karaoke bar, listening to Drakken screech out lyrics to some Taylor Swift song (he was such a Swiftie that it made her cringe). She sunk in her chair. Why did he have to love something he was so horribly bad at?
"Excuse me, miss?" Shego turned her attention to an attractive waiter. He was tall and had broad shoulders. He kind of reminded her of a blonde version of Junior. "I just saw you from across the room, and I couldn't help myself from coming over here. You are incredibly beautiful."
She smirked. "Yeah, well you aren't so bad yourself." She gestured for him to take a seat next to her, and he complied.
"I'm Toby," he said as he extended his hand out to her.
She looked down at his hand, but she didn't shake it. "Shego," she said with a nod of her head.
Toby laughed nervously as he slowly lowered his hand. "Well Shego, what brings you here tonight?"
She glanced over at Drakken, who was still belting out the words to Enchanted (yes, she knew all of Taylor's songs too, but only because he played them so often). She brought her attention back to Toby. "Just business."
He smiled at her. "And what kind of business is that?"
She shrugged. "I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you."
He laughed. "You're funny. So are you here alone?"
"I-" she looked back at Drakken, and suddenly talking to Toby just felt wrong. Why? She wasn't committed to Drakken. So what if they had sex sometimes? They weren't in a relationship. She was free to flirt with whomever she wanted, so why did she feel so guilty? "Actually, I kind of am," she finally said after a minute of contemplating.
Toby raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Shego pointed over to Drakken, who had just attempted to hit a high note that made her ears bleed. "Unfortunately, I am with him."
Toby snorted. "You're way too attractive to be with him."
It was her turn to raise an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
"Uh, well, you're hot and he's not?" It was a statement, but his tone of voice phrased it like a question. "And he's making a fool of himself up there. For real." She ignited her hands, making Toby jump. He wasn't wrong. Drakken was making a fool of himself up there, but she was the only one allowed to say it. "Your uh hands. They-" he scooted his chair away from her.
"They're glowing," Drakken said, standing behind her. Shego felt her cheeks blush. She hadn't even noticed that Drakken stopped screeching on stage and came back down to join her at the table. He put his hand on Shego's chair but didn't take his eyes off of Toby. "I'd avoid those if I were you," he said pointing at her glowing hands. "It leaves a nasty mark."
Shego smirked when Toby jumped out of his chair and ran for the hills. Her plasma withdrew into her palms when Drakken sat down in the chair that was previously occupied by Toby. "What did he even say to you?" Drakken asked her as he sipped his water.
She bit her lip. Telling Drakken that she had been angry because he had insulted him might give him the wrong idea. This new relationship they had- whatever they wanted to call it- worked well. There was no need to complicate it with emotions, and she knew that telling Drakken she was trying to stand up for him would make him overthink what was going on between them. In truth, there was nothing going on between them. They were just two consenting adults having sex. Nothing more. But she had felt guilty for flirting with Toby. She shook her head out of her thoughts, but before she could respond to Drakken, someone else had taken the mic, and they had started to sing. She smiled at him. "Let's just dance, alright?"
He raised a brow. "You want to dance? At a karaoke bar?" She didn't answer him; she just took his hand and pulled them both up from their chairs. The song was an upbeat song, but there was only one dance that Drakken knew: the waltz. She moved his hands to the correct position for him before placing hers. "Shego, everyone is staring at us," Drakken whispered.
"Who cares," she whispered back as he moved with her.
He smiled slightly as he spun her. The dance was definitely not fitting for an upbeat song, but screw it. Nothing they did was fitting, really. That's what made them, well, them. "You know, you should go up there and sing. You have an incredible voice."
She laughed as they swayed. "Oh, and how would you know that?"
He smirked. "You sing in the shower."
Her mouth fell open. Singing in the shower had been such a habit that most of the time, she didn't even realize she did it, and it was certainly something that Drakken would never hear, and in the two and a half years that they have lived together, he wouldn't have heard her. He would have no reason to. Until 4 months ago when they started sleeping together. It wasn't like she ever spent the night in his room, but there were nights she showered while he was still there or nights when she used his bathroom. Oh God, what has he heard? Her eyes grew wide at the possibilities.
His face fell when he noticed her discomfort. "Hey," he lifted her chin up with his finger so their eyes could meet."I haven't heard much- just that you have a good voice is all." She gave him a small smile but otherwise disregarded his comment. He spun her again, and when she came back around, he grinned at her. "You might like singing on that stage. Nothing cheers me up like karaoke night. When I hold that mic, and look out at the audience, I feel so alive! It's electric."
Shego rolled his eyes at him. "Yeah, maybe that's the answer you've been looking for- sing the world into submission," she said sarcastically.
He stopped dancing and let go of her as he gasped. "Shego, that's it! And here I thought I was the evil genius! You're brilliant!"
She crossed her arms. "What are you talking about?"
Drakken looked around. There were people still staring at them, so he grabbed her arm and dragged her to the side. "Who needs a rap star to sing about my brainwashing shampoo? I can do it! I can become a hip-hop star!"
Shego erupted into laughter. "Oh that's a good one, Dr. D. That's-" Her laughs died down when he frowned at her. "Oh, please don't tell me that you are serious?"
"Shego, this is so exciting!" He jumped up and down in glee. Shego smacked her hand against her forehead. This is going to be embarrassing.
…..
"You know, Doc, your hip hop rap idea might have actually worked if the princess hadn't intervened." She was trying to cheer him up, but he just sank deeper in his chair.
He tilted his head back and groaned. "Kim Possible thinks she's all that, but-"
"She's not, blah blah blah," Shego waved a hand in dismal. "Look on the bright side: we dodged the police again."
"Nygh! Shego!" Drakken crossed his arms and pouted his lips.
She sighed. "Ugh, I'll go to karaoke again if it means you'll stop pouting like a toddler."
Drakken waved her off. "No. There's nothing you can do to make me feel better right now."
She smirked. "Really? Nothing?" She sat on his lap, straddling him. "Are you sure about that?" She kissed his neck as one of her hands trailed down his chest.
It was the first time either one of them had initiated such physical contact without being in a disagreement first. He leaned his head back, granting her easier access. "I was wrong. There is something you can do to make me feel better," he mumbled. She giggled as her lips left his neck. She cupped his face with both of her hands and kissed him gently. "Someone's in a good mood," he whispered into her ear once her lips left his.
She shrugged. "I'm feeling a little festive."
He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her down closer to him. "But Shego, we lost today."
She smiled. "Yes, but I got to watch you rap about brainwashing shampoo, and trust me Doc, that was priceless."
He pouted, but a small grin spread across his face. "That's not funny."
She laughed as she unbuttoned his lab coat. "Oh, it was definitely funny."
He laughed with her. "Okay, so maybe becoming a hip-hop star wasn't my best idea."
Another giggle left Shego's lips. "Now that I can agree with." She kissed him again, harder this time.
"Ow!" Drakken pulled from her, and when she looked down, there was a hole in his coat where her hands had been, and a green glow came into her line of vision.
She quickly let the fire in her hands die as she took in a deep breath of air. "Sorry," she whispered. She looked down at her hands, trying to understand what exactly was happening.
He smiled at her. "Don't worry about it." He brought her attention back to him when he kissed her, and suddenly, her lingering worries vanished as she let herself get lost in him.
