SWEET MOMENTS

Hello everyone. In the midst of a rather difficult week, another idea has popped into my head and I decided to share it with you. The story is inspired by that incredibly sweet moment during Lady Mary's second wedding-when the Carsons are holding their hands. My very own take on that.

Hope you will like it. One-shot, one chapter.

Legal note: I do not have any rights to DA characters, they are just my favorite toys.

In the evening, after Lady Mary's second wedding-a rather eventful day, Charles and Elsie sighed with relief, when they finally came back to the cottage. They have both been busy since the early morning and it was about time to have some relaxing time.

So much has been going on today, Lady Edith surprised everyone with her unexpected appearance, even though everyone was aware of their conflict, Lady Mary was happily married to her second husband- Mr Talbot, which made Charles happy and proud, as if he was her second father.

Elsie has never shared Charles's feelings to the "blessed Lady Mary", as she had entirely different opinion about her, not as flattering as Charles, but ever since they got married, she tried to keep those feelings to herself, not wanting to hurt Charles. He was never meant to have children of his own, so it was understandable, that Lady Mary was like his daughter. Elsie decided to put her personal feelings aside and simply enjoy the day, along with her husband.

He must have really appreciated her spirit, or maybe it was something else, Elsie was not quite sure about that, but she was rewarded by her husband, with the most beautiful gesture, that she could imagine...

During the ceremony, when the vicar announced that Lady Mary and Henry Talbot are now husband and wife, Charles has unexpectedly squeezed Elsie's hand, which he was already holding before. It took her by a complete surprise and caused the sweetest smile on her face...For a moment, both of his hands were holding hers and that was very unusual display of affection, made publicly, which was something that Charles has never done before...

Elsie knew her husband so well, she was fully aware, even when they got married, that she should not expect any emotions shown to her in the presence of other people. It didn't matter, that after getting married it was "allowed", it didn't matter, that they knew most people in the Abbey for such a long time. Charles was Charles and Elsie didn't even try to change that in him.

The bravest thing that has happened so far between them, at the Abbey, was when she called him her curmudgeon and gave him a kiss on the cheek, which made him very happy, but that was only because they were safely hidden in Mrs Patmore's kitchen, with nobody else around. Elsie suspected, that if someone else was there with them, Charles's reaction might not have been so enthusiastic.

This was exactly why it was so precious, that today, caught in the moment of joy and pride, being ecstatic about marrying his favorite Mary again, Charles broke his usual rules and let everyone else around know, that he loves his wife and he is not afraid to show it...

She had a very similar smile for him now, when he was rushing with the teapot from the kitchen, so they could both have a cup, after this tiring and exhausting day...

He sat near her on the sofa, in their living room and poured her a nice, hot cup of tea, to her favorite china...

"Here you go Elsie...Have a cup of tea...It's summer, but the nights are still cold...I will gladly have one too...You need to warm a bit, I noticed, that you were freezing when we were coming back..."

"Thank you Charlie...That's so kind of you, tea is nice, but I much prefer other ways of keeping myself warm..."

"Such as?"

"Such as this my love"

Elsie moved closer to her beloved husband and she nestled into him, searching for that favorite warmth of his body, that she already knew, as a very effective way to keep her warm...

"Oh, that is what you meant..."

"Yes Charlie, that is exactly, what I meant...No tea in the wolrd can compare to the wonderful, warm body of my husband..."

She looked at him in adoration in his eyes, which made him want to kiss her and he did...Her lips were irresistible to him and he never had enough of kissing Elsie...

"Mmmm...I have no idea, what I've done to deserve such lovely treatment from my wife, but I'm all for that..."

"Oh Charlie...You have no idea? Today you have given me something very special...Even though you are probably not very aware of that..."

"You are right about that Elsie- what exactly have I given you today?"

"A public proof of your affection...When you were holding my hand and then squeezed it in yours, it was so...So precious, so special...You have never done that before with other people around..."

"Elsie...You know that I normally don't like to invite other people to our private world, but today, I felt so happy and proud, that Lady Mary is married again...I hope Mr Talbot will be a good husband for her, that I just wanted to share this joy with you..."

"I'm happy with you Charlie...Lady Mary is not my favorite person in the world, but it was nice to share it with you..."

"You know what else Elsie?"

"What Charlie?"

"It was not only that I was happy for Lady Mary, which I was, but this moment has reminded me all the other weddings in the Crawley family, which we were attending together, not yet as married couple..."

"I don't get it Charlie, how exactly did it remind you of those other weddings?"

"It reminded me those moments, when I was as happy as today and I wanted to share this happiness with you, but I wasn't allowed to do that yet, because we were not married back then... I wanted to touch your hand, to tell you how much I'm hoping, that our wedding will be next..."

"Oh Charlie, that's so sweet, so incredibly sweet..."- Elsie had tears in her eyes..."I never realized, that you were thinking about me this way, back then..."

"Yes Elsie and today I realized, that it was the first time, when I could finally do what I wanted to do back then- to touch your hand, to let you know, how incredibly happy it makes me, to be your husband, to share my life with you finally..."

"It took us some time to get to that place Charlie, didn't it?"

"It did...I'm blaming myself, because I certainly should have asked you sooner, so we could..."

"Shh Charlie..."-Elsie put her finger on Charles's lips..."There is no time for that today...Today it's all about joy and celebration and speaking of which...I know another special way, that we can celebrate this day..."

"What way Elsie? I would really like to know..."

"Come on upstairs Charlie, I will show you the way..."

Charles obeyed his wife without any objections and followed her upstairs, where she led him to their marital bed, when they were both eager to express all the deepness of their love... They both wanted it very much...Today they realized once again, how much they meant to each other and how incredibly precious it was, that they found their happiness in the autumn of their life...

They finished making love and they kept on kissing, stroking each other with reverence...Their eyes were full of love, their bodies still hot and sweaty, but sated and satisfied...

"Well Mrs Carson, if such a small gesture, made in public caused such an eruption of passion in you, then I will have to be more creative in the future and think of other ways of showing you my love, in the presence of other people..."

Charles smiled to Elsie, as their fingers intertwined and she put her head on his shoulder, marking his collarbone with a tender kiss...

"I hope Mr Carson, that you will always find a way to let me know how much you love me, whether it will be in the presence of other people, or not..."

"I'm sure I will be and I believe, that the best moment tostart that is now..."

Charles hovered over Elsie, covering her lips with tender, but at the same time hot kisses, which she has received with eagerness...They both knew, that they will never be tired with any ways of expressing their love...Private or not...

That's all for this one...Silly, romantic/steamy story for Saturday... Sometimes it's good to just have one of those, without any drama, simply our beloved Carsons, sharing a sweet and tender moments. The holding hands thing was really cute and I'm glad, that we had a chance of seeing it, before the movies, where appearantly all the tenderness between the Carsons has vanished...But that's another story...I hope that you liked it a bit and if so, your opinions are welcome. Have a great weekend!
