Charms And Crushes
Charms class had ended as everyone prepared to return to his or her respected common rooms to relax before dinner time.
"You coming, Lise?" Stevie asked.
"Actually, Miss Lake," Professor Flitwick said. "I'm going to teach a charm to Miss Atwood so she can keep her diary safe from prying eyes."
"I see." Stevie said.
When Rafael stood up from his desk, he felt like the entire Charms classroom was spinning all around him.
"I need to get to the common room," Rafael observed. "I'm so exhausted, I'm dizzy."
"You guys had better get Rafael to the common room." Lisa said to Stevie, noticing Rafael was beginning to drop.
A little while later in the Gryffindor common room, Rafael was out like a light sitting in one of the armchairs by the common room's fireplace.
Rafael had his Transfiguration textbook in his hands, he had fallen asleep while studying.
A huge crowd of Gryffindor girls were cooing and ogling at the deeply sleeping teen.
"Awww! Look at Rafael!" Lavender cooed softly.
"He looks so princely when he's asleep!" Angelina exclaimed, gazing at Rafael's motionless form, his legs were over the right arm of the chair while he was leaned back.
Rafael yawned and mumbled something the girls couldn't hear.
Phil and Stevie walked by just in time to see the scene.
"Come on ladies, break it up and let the poor guy sleep, he's spoken for anyway!" Phil said, trying not to talk to loud.
The girls just kept right on gushing like they didn't even hear Phil.
Stevie turned and dug a set of new earplugs out of her nearby backpack, she put them in Rafael's ears, then she put two fingers in her mouth and gave a loud sharp whistle, that successfully shut the girls up.
"All right you gushing gaggle of geese, the man said break it up! Rafael is spoken for," Stevie snapped. "so amscray!"
Stevie jabbed a thumb toward the door.
"Fair thee well, Rafael!" Lavender cooed softly.
This time, the girls finally scattered to their studies and various other activities.
Rafael started twitching in his sleep.
"Quick, Phil! Rafael's growing restless! Sing to him!" Stevie hissed.
"I don't know what to sing, Stevie!" Phil whispered back sharply.
"Try Carmina's lullaby!" Stevie whispered.
"But-but I only heard Carmina only sing that once!" Phil protested in a whisper.
Rafael yawned and groaned a little.
"Rafael is restless, Phil," Stevie hissed. "it's worth a shot!"
Phil cleared his throat and began to sing.
Phil: Listen to my lullaby;
Let a sleeping roma lie;
Dancing through dreams;
Let him fly;
To the stars;
Across the sky;
In the heart of hope and light;
Let a sleeping roma lie.
Rafael stopped twitching and began to settle down.
Rafael sighed and murmured something in his serene siesta.
A little while later, Stevie and Phil were sitting in the common room trying to make sense out of a homework assignment when they heard the portrait swing open.
Lisa walked in looking much happier than when she had left that morning.
Lisa was about to say hi to them, when Phil quickly held a finger to his lips, then pointed to Rafael who was asleep in the nearby armchair.
Lisa smiled at the sight and walked over where she could whisper to Stevie and Phil.
"Professor Flitwick taught me a couple of locking charms that he says not even Malfoy and Pansy will be able to get past." Lisa smiled.
"Good," Stevie said. "that's one problem solved, now, how about helping us with this homework assignment?"
"What's giving you trouble?" Lisa asked.
"All of it." Phil said, sounding slightly frustrated.
Lisa snickered, "Must be one of McGonagall's research assignments." she said.
Stevie and Phil nodded, "Yes." they agreed.
Lisa took another look at Rafael and then stopped short.
"Um guys," Lisa said. "why does Rafael have earplugs in his ears?"
"Oops, I forgot to take them out after I got rid of those girls." Stevie said.
"What girls?" Lisa said, her tone turning suspicious and her eyes narrowing.
"Just a group of girls, Lavender and Angelina were among them," Phil said. "they were standing around his chair gushing over Rafael when we got here."
"Yeah," said Stevie. "Rafael slept through the whole thing, I guess he really was tired, I put those earplugs in his ears so that Phil and I could get rid of that giggling gaggle of geese without waking him up."
Suddenly, Rafael began awakening.
