Hey! This chapter is taking longer than I thought it would, and I'm very sorry, but I hope you enjoy!

"You're worthless"

A girl's voice

"No one will ever love you"

A cruel laugh

"Just wait till they figure out what you did, what you are...A spoiled little brat, you didn't help them. Why would they ever help you?

An evil grin

"Have fun in the maze, Elizabeth."

The girl woke with her face burried into the pillow, muffling her sobs. Her body trembled. Who was the woman in her dreams? Was it a nightmare or a memory? What if the woman was right...What if she was a monster?

She tried to compose herself, not wanting Newt to walk in to wake her to find the broken side of her. She focused on her breathing.

breath in, breath out, in, out, in, out.

She managed to calm herself withen a few minutes, and, after wiping her eyes, she got up from the bed. She grabbed her stuff and dragged herself to the lockable bathroom. She scrubbed her face clean, erasing any evidence of her tears. She looked at herself in the mirror, eventually putting on some light makeup. She put on a small ammount of perfume, aswell as a generous layer of deodorant.

After getting dressed in a plain pastel yellow tshirt and jeans, she walked out, returning to the room. No one else was up yet, so the took the time to sit on her, well, Newt's, bed, and think. She thought about the 'dream'. Whatever it was seemed very familiar, and that worried her.

Despite her restless night, whenever Newt knocked on the door, she opened it with a light smile, pretending none of it had happened.

"Ready to work Greenie? Erm, Liz, I mean."

Newt gave her an apologetic smile.

Liz took in a deep breath. "Yep, lets go."

They walked to the kitchen, and Frypan greeted her with a large grin.

He handed them each a plate, hers with slightly smaller portions.

They went to a mostly full table. Liz just wanted to sit alone, but she followed Newt, sitting in between him and a kid named Matt.

The boys chattered around her, talking about normal things. Laughing. She wasn't sure how they had adjusted to this place, but she knew she must.

She ate her food quickly and quietly, clearing her plate. The eggs on her plate were very.. interesting.. To say the least, but she still ate them.

"Time to work, Gr...Liz." Newt got up, taking his plate. She nodded, taking hers and following him. They brought the plates back to Frypan, then went to the gardens.

"You alright, Liz? You look tired." Newt gave her a concerned look.

"Huh, oh, yea. I'm fine. I'm just thinking about stuff."

Newt didn't look convinced, but he dropped the subject.

She worked quickly and quietly, stripping the plants from greenbeans, peppers, and even blueberrys. Pretty soon, the boys started migrating towards the kitchen.

"Time for lunch." Newt announced, wiping the dirt of his hands on his jeans.

"Can I stay here? I'm not hungry." She kept her gaze down, but she could practically hear Newt's frown.

"You should eat."

"I know.. But I'm honestly not hungry, please?" She glanced up slightly, but when her eyes met his, her gaze instantly returned to the ground.

Newt sighed. "Alright, don't make this a habit." He turned, entering the crowd of boys.

She found a tree near the garden and sat against a large tree. She watched her surroundings carefully, not feeling completely safe here yet. Her eyes drifted shut, and she simply didn't have the energy to open them. She did, however, refuse to sleep.

Despite how badly she fought, she drifted out of conciousness.

"Worthless"

"Garbage"

"You don't deserve anything good"

"They hated you, and when they figure out who you are, they won't be your friend"

"Disgusting Lab Rat"

"Monster"

Something was shaking her.

"Liz? Greenie? Hey, Liz, wake up."

She gasped, her eyes flying open. A body hovered over her. Newt. He jumped back at her reaction.

"Hey, hey, easy. You alright? You fell asleep, and well, you didn't look very peaceful." He frowned.

She took a couple deep breaths, than answered. "Just a bad dream." She muttered. "I didn't mean to fall asleep, what needs done in the gardens now?"

"Uh..Not much needs done, we can take the rest of the day off. And its totally find, you looked like you needed some rest."

She nodded. Her and Newt walked back to his room. When they got to the door, he opened it and gestured for her to enter. "I've got to go talk to Alby, but if you need something, come find me." She nodded and he left.

Newt's POV

The blond teen walked back over to the gardens, looking around for the Greenie. Concern filled his features when he couldn't find her, but he soon saw her at the edge of the Deadheads. She sat with her back against a tree, her eyes closed. She looked peaceful from afar, but as he got close, he realized she was the exact opposit.

Her arms trembled, she kept moving ever so slightly. Her breaths were quick. He went closer, kneeling down infront of her. He placed his hands on her shoulders.

"Liz? Greenie? Hey, Liz, wake up."

Her body jolted slightly, her eyes opened, she gasped in a breath. He jumped back.

"Hey, hey, easy. You alright? You fell asleep, and well, you didn't look very peaceful."

He frowned. The girl tried to compose herself, and eventually spoke.

"Just a bad dream." She muttered, her eyes on the ground. "I didn't mean to fall asleep, what needs done in the gardens now?"

She was worried she had done wrong. He was quick to speak.

"Uh..Not much needs done, we can take the rest of the day off. And its totally find, you looked like you needed some rest."

She gave a slight nod. Newt walked her back to his room, wanting to speak to Alby.

When they got to the door, he opened it and gestured for her to enter. "I've got to go talk to Alby, but if you need something, come find me." She nodded and he turned to leave.

Newt was worried about this girl. She hadn't been in the glade very long, but he knew she was a good person. He knew that she just needed time. He also knew she needed help.

He found alby near the Medhut.

"Alby, can we talk?" Newt looked at him, his eyes full of concern.

"Newt? Dude, what's wrong? Spit it out."

"Ok, but...Lets go to the council room for some privacy." Alby nodded. They walked over, and as soom as the door closed behind them, Alby started speaking.

"What? What's wrong?"

"I'm worried." Newt said with a frown.

"Thanks Captain Obvious! About what?" Alby rolled his eyes.

"T..The Greenie. She.." Newt sighed.

"Somethings wrong, and I don't know what, but I dont want her doing something stupid and getting herself killed."

Alby looked at him for a moment. "She's only been here a couple of days, Newt, give her time to settle in." Alby turned to leave.

Newt grabbed his arm. "Alby wait!" Newt growled. He was never mean, but thos bloody shank wasn't listening!

"You're really gonna tell me she just needs to settle in? Just like you told me when I got here? I just needed time? Well that time almost got me bloody killed! So quit acting like it's gonna be fine, and just shucking listen!" Newt paused for a moment. Taking in a deep breath. Trying to calm himself. He rarely got mad, and he could see in Alby's eyes how suprised he was.

"Something is wrong, Alby. Whether you like it or not, something is wrong. But I guess I can't count on our leader to do something, right? Fine. I'll figure it out myself." Newt let go of Alby's arm and marched out the door. He was fuming. He was angry. He didn't knoe why. He barely knew this girl, but she reminded him of himself, and that was bad.

He was unsure where to go. He couldn't go to his room, not like this, and the runners were off today, so he couldn't go to Minho's room. He eventually settled for the large watchtower by the deadheads. The ladder was a struggle with the limp. He was walking ok now, but even after a year and a half his leg wasn't at full strength, and probably never would be.

He sat at the edge, his legs dangling off the edge under the railing. He leaned forward, his arms on the rail, his chin on his arms.

He felt awful for yelling at Alby, but how else was he going to listen? What else was he supossed to do? He wasn't the type to get angry, and even when he did it was always short lasting, but he was still mad. He was still frustrated, and that made him feel even worse.

Eventually, he went into the small walled in area, sitting in the corner. He leaned his head against the wall, and stayed in that same position for hours.

Little did he know, while he sat there, figuring out what had happened that day, a girl sad on his bed, her cheeks wet, her throat sore from sobs, needing someone there for here even though she would never admit it.
