6. Left Behind!

Avix and Bel let go of their airlocks and advance on Chloe.
"Oh, look! The Doctor's left something behind," Avix says.
"Someone!" Chloe objects to being called a thing!
Suddenly Bel ties her up from behind. Surely she's stuck there now, at their mercy!

Bel and Avix start to discuss what to do with her. Using her as a ransom for their freedom seems the most likely option.
Chloe slowly and carefully moves her hands behind her back and activates her wristwatch transport...

The Doctor's very relieved to see Chloe. She thoughtfully re-appeared in the Tardis just as the Tardis was leaving and only the Doctor had noticed she hadn't made it through the Tardis door!
"How long did they keep you there?" he asks.
The question puzzles the others until they see her bindings. The Doctor's well ahead of them!
"Only a few minutes!" Chloe's relieved to be away from those two!
The Doctor steps towards her. "Are you giving away any hugs?" He's aware she may need quite some reassurance.
Chloe steps up to the Doctor and hugs him, grateful that he'd noticed.
Simeon feels some jealousy as he was dating Chloe until recently but having had a few weeks to get over it (ref. 50), is now much less affected. He's gradually getting over things.

"I have a plan to see if these two beings are in any way acceptable to let loose on the Universe," the Doctor says. "I have only to press this button and my plan will commence."
"Which button's that?" Devyon wants to know.
"That one there," the Doctor shows him.
"That one?" Devyon asks. Devyon jabs his finger at it but presses the button by mistake. .
"Was it that one?" Devyon says. "It's lit up now! Did I press it?" .
The Doctor groans. "Yes, but I'd have liked to say a few more things to the two beings first. It won't make much difference to the plan; it was going to happen anyway. I just asked for a little more time." .

"There's some action near the room," Meran points out.
The Console monitor shows two humanoid figures in black approaching the spinning room each carrying some sort of gun.
"They'll have difficulty gaining access," Devyon points out, "with it spinning!" .
The figures approach from the centre of rotation and gain their own rotation to correspond. Once on the outside of the room, the figures grab external ladders and gain access to the edges of the room where there are windows.
"What are those gun things they're carrying?" Alyssa asks.
"They're Tessellator Compression Field applicators," the Doctor replies. "They work through glass."
"Gosh, Doctor, what does one of them do?" Devyon asks. "They're not killing them are they?"
"Far from killing them, they're changing their form to become an avatar controller being that will control avatars. We can see what their avatars do without letting the controller beings out of the room. The avatar will have very limited powers compared to those two unregulated beings! So, it's safe to let the avatars loose on the Universe. We'll see what they do!"

Like two antagonists in a room too small for them, the two avatar forms set to fighting until suddenly both lose power.
"It's clear they just want to fight," the Doctor says. "That's all they ever thought about."
Once the avatar forms stop moving, the original beings fight.
Recognising that they no longer need to maintain their positions in the room to keep the two planets from crushing them, they recognise they want the freedom of the Universe. They each go to the airlock by their assigned original places in the room and open the airlocks. The vacuum of space kills them.
"Pity!" the Doctor says. "Without their pugilistic tendency they might have been very useful in the Universe!"

"Doctor, did you just arrange that?" Alyssa demands to know. She can hardly believe that the Doctor would stoop to knowingly cause their deaths.
"No, it would have happened anyway. I merely checked that their time of reckoning had come before agreeing to show you what their fate was. The Tesselecta are sent by an odd organisation called The Justice Department typically just before someone dies so that they can remove people deserving of punishment. No, I didn't arrange it. I did try to reserve some time to try to challenge them to become better citizens, but it wouldn't have appealed to them anyway! It was the only way I could satisfy everyone – you, the Tesselecta and the planetary authorities – I couldn't just let them go loose in the Universe or someone would have been very unhappy with me!"
