"So you're saying that we passed by the plate?" Ash asked.
"Affirmative." Arceus said as they entered Eterna City. "But that mountain in the distance is Stark Mountain and the source of my powers, I believe from here in the city I can more accurately locate more of my missing plates."
"You do that, I'll look for this what plate was it again?" Ash asked.
"The Draco Plate." Arceus reminded.
"So Dragon Type, alright sounds powerful, shouldn't be too big of an issue." Ash said. "Come on Pikachu, let's go."
"Ash, you are aware Dragon Pokemon are resistant to electric attacks." Arceus reminded.
"I know, but that doesn't mean someone with water type Pokemon didn't find the Plate." Ash said.
Deep in Eterna Forest
"Yes, I'm seeing it." Paul said, talking to a figure in the shadows. "Between Infernape and the power you gave me, I will have the Draco Plate in no time."
"Do NoT dIsApPoInT mE aGaIn." The figure said, their voice distorted. "I gAvE yOu ThAt PoWeR aNd I cAn TaKe It AwAy."
"Yes my lord." Paul said, walking off with his Infernape.
"Get away from me!" A woman screamed, unleashing blue flames from her hands, scattering the ghosts that were approaching her.
"Infernape use Flamethrower!" Paul called out.
Flames shot out, dispersing the ghost types as he calmly walked over to the woman.
"Stay back! I might hurt you!" The woman exclaimed.
"Relax, I'm here to help, your name is Gardenia correct?" Paul asked.
"Yes, how did you know that?" Gardenia asked.
"I have an informant who is trying to destroy these powers and he has enlisted my services." Paul said. "I can help very easily."
"No one can help, I attack anyone who tries to help, I can't even stop that." Gardenia said.
"Relax, I'm prepared to fight, I can handle this." Paul said with a smirk. "Infernape let's go."
As soon as Infernape walked between Paul and Gardenia, a Jumpluff shot out from her draconic body, ready to attack Infernape.
"Infernape use Flamethrower!" Paul commanded.
"Jumpluff use Sunny Day!" Gardenia commanded.
Jumpluff created an intense heat that only strengthened Paul's Infernape's flamethrower, coating her in flames.
"Jumpluff use Toxic!"
"Infernape use Flamethrower!"
The toxic sludge struck Infernape before Jumpluff fell to the powerful attack.
Elsewhere
"Man this heat came out of nowhere, I feel like it was just shady a moment ago." Ash said, as he wiped his brow, even Pikachu trying to stay in the shade. "Let's take our time to not get exhausted out here buddy."
Back at the battle
"Cherrim use Solar Beam!"
"Infernape use Flamethrower!"
Infernape's flames crashed against Cherrim's energy beam, the two pushing back and forth for a moment, before launching Cherrim back rather harshly.
"Now Infernape use Acrobatics." Paul commanded.
Infernape leapt at Cherrim, striking the grass type with each of his limbs and his tail, knocking the Pokemon away in a flurry of leaves.
"Bellossom use Drain Punch!"
"Infernape use Focus Punch!"
Bellossom leapt at Infernape, only to be struck by his longer limb, launching her backwards.
"Infernape use Flamethrower!" Paul called out, counting the turns and damage Infernape had taken.
"Bellossom use Ingrain!"
Bellossom tried to recover her energy before being fully engulfed in the flames and dispersing into leaves that burnt up into ashes.
"Come on, give me your worst." Paul said angrily.
"Tortera come on out!" Gardenia said, sending out the grass and ground type. "Use Outrage!"
Paul's Infernape took the entire attack without issue, now looking very angry.
"Perfect, Blaze has activated." Paul commented. "Infernape use Blast Burn!"
Ash and Pikachu looked in the distance to see a huge blast of fire extending high above the treeline and into the sky.
"Come on Pikachu, I have a feeling that isn't just a coincidence." Ash said, grabbing his partner as they rushed towards the attack.
"Torterra use Stone Edge!"
Infernape was launched up and into the air, the damage from Toxic and the other attacks finally starting to show on the fire type as it's breathing became heavy.
"Infernape catch, and then use Flamethrower!" Paul said, tossing a Pecha Berry up to Infernape.
Infernape unleashed a stream of flames out at Torterra, engulfing the mountain Pokemon in red and pink fire.
"Torterra use Wood Hammer!"
"Infernape use Acrobatics!"
Infernape leapt out of the way as Torterra slammed into the ground, knocking itself out as leaves scattered.
"Now, I won't ask another time, SHOW ME THE PLATE!" Paul demanded.
"Roserade use Sludge Bomb!" Gardenia called out as a giant Roserade emerged.
"Oh no, someone's fighting them already, I need to get a move on!" Ash said, rushing towards the oversized Pokemon.
"Infernape use Flamethrower!"
Flames shot up Roserade's body, causing the grass type to counter with a massive Hyper Beam.
"Infernape counter with Blast Burn!"
Infernape let loose another Blast Burn that pushed back against the Hyper Beam, knocking Roserade to the ground.
"Now Infernape use Flamethrower!" Paul commanded.
Flames poured our from Infernape, fully engulfing Roserade.
"Right up ahead Pikachu!" Ash called out to only witness Roserade go up in flames as the Draco Plate dropped to the ground where it once stood. "Wait, who could take down a corrupted Pokemon?" Ash asked, looking through the smoke to see Paul standing there with his Infernape, both looking angry.
"Everybody get ready, I have a feeling Paul won't let us walk away with this." Ash said, tapping each of his Pokeballs.
