I still plan to add more chapters and keep on writing this fan-fic. This is (or was) my first attempt at writing any kind of story, so sorry if it may be kinda rough. I wrote all of these chapters months ago on Wattpad and I plan to continue the story here.
I came home on a bad day just for it to get worse. My wife was sleeping with my best friend. I don't even remember much of what happened after that. But… Let's just say I may have gone a bit overboard. He had died from his injuries. And before the apocalypse, this labeled me as a bad man and maybe I was at the time… But my intentions never were to kill him.
"I read up on your case a bit boy, did he at least deserve what was coming?" The police officer said. He was an old man, rather scrawny with a huge bald spot on the top of his head.
"You could say that. But either way, I made a mistake, and I'll admit that." The chatter from his police radio kept breaking up our conversations, the situation in the cities seemed to be worsening. I saw police car after police car speed down the highway road into the city. Some smoke burrowed out of the city in the rear view mirror.
This cop's biggest flaw probably came from the fact he got too caught up in his conversations... "Man, that box never shuts up. Bout' to just shut this shit off." I noticed that someone was walking across the highway. We approached them very quickly, burrowing at them at around ninety miles per hour. "WATCH THE DAMN ROAD" I managed to yell out, the car directly struck the body on the road. All I remember is the car beginning to speed off the road.
Everything went black from there. I woke up however long later. First thought that came to me was the sharp pain from my leg. Thing is, I could barely keep conscious. I heard a few gunshots and screaming, but then I blacked out again. When I woke up again, I just assumed it was a day later at this point. The car was very cramped.
It seemed that the car had been crushed on the back, but somehow I was mostly fine besides my leg. There was blood all over the car, the strange thing is that it wasn't mine. I managed to get moving again. I struggled to get my body up, but nonetheless I managed to sit up in the car. I looked out the cracked windows, and I noticed that we were in a pretty heavy forest. I noticed that we must have ran off the road. I reached over to try opening the door in front of me, *BUSCHH* however it didn't budge a bit.
The lock seemed to be broken. I mustered up some power into my leg and began to kick out the window. After a few kicks, the window eventually gave way. I scrambled myself up and out of the window. I hit the ground with a pretty hefty thud. I smelt burning... but not only that, the smell of something terrible. Something... dead. I got up and made my way around the cop car, sliding myself across the lopsided car. That's when I noticed not far away, on the ground... the police officer. He was dead. His corpse was stiff, one arm hanging out, with a long blood trail leading up to it.
I saw a shotgun on the ground near the police car along with a shell. Deciding the best thing to do was probably grab it, I went for the shell. However, the cuffs around my hand had other thoughts. I have to get out of these cuffs, I thought to myself. Only thing is... there on that officer. A bad feeling rose up in my stomach, but nonetheless I was going to have to do it.
I approached the officers dead body slowly, beginning to reach my arms out towards the ground. Almost there... I snatched the keys that were laying by him quickly back to me. I unlocked the cuffs, as I rubbed my wrists... That feeling was something indescribable. I was free... Just as my life was ending... I was given another chance? *LARWLLLL* I heard a strange noise come from what I assumed to be the officer.
I looked over my shoulder back towards the officer. He was moving. I scrambled toward the shotgun and shell on the ground. I snatched the shell with my left hand and the shotgun with my right. I began to jam the shell into the shotgun as the officer was... moving towards me? *RAWWRRRL* I quickly got the shell into the gun and racked it.
"DO NOT MAKE ME DO THIS OFFICER!" I yelled out. My adrenaline made it seem like a rather laughable attempt at intimidation. The officer kept crawling towards me, and I had decided that was enough. *BOOM* The shot echoed throughout the forest and silenced the surroundings. The officer dropped dead to the ground, once again. This time... for good.
Unfortunately, I was far from safe. The noise just drew more of those things. From the bushes all around me, emerged more walking corpses. Those terrifying noises just seemed to surround me. I began to make a break for it, running towards a fence that I saw up ahead on the hill of the forest. A house just behind it.
I limped my way up the hill at a quick speed as the corpses began to get closer to me. I toppled over the fence and landed on the other side. I heard the banging of their fists hitting the fence. I kept scrambling back so fast that I hit my head on the porch of the house. I sighed... whatever was going on, it was bad...
"Hey!" I heard a high pitched voice squeak out from behind me. I turned around to see a little girl leaning over the porch, looking at me. I assumed she wasn't any older than eight. "What's your name, honey?"
"Clementine." She said to me. "Clementine? I'm Lee. It's nice to meet you Clementine." From that moment on, I knew I had to protect her.
