"COME ON GUYS, WE GOTTA GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE MAN!" Shane ran in the opposite direction of the horde across the bridge. Lee and Martin followed not long after him.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THE PLAN?" Lee yelled out. Lee and Shane matched speeds as they ran away from the horde behind them. Martin lagged a bit behind them. Shane glanced at Lee then turned his head over his shoulder to glance at the horde.
"The hell do you think man? We get the hell out of here, like I said." Lee scoffed and said, "Well what about the other guy? We still need to find Glenn."
"The only thing that matters right here, right now, is us LEE. Save your damn self before worrying about other people. ESPECIALLY, WHEN WE DON'T EVEN KNOW IF HE'S ALIVE." Shane yelled out.
They continued running forward across the bridge until they finally reached the other side. However, it wasn't any safer on this side. Walkers began to climb out of nearby shops from the commotion outside. The horn that had sounded earlier had already brought many out. There was a parking garage which had a clear path to it, not far from where the three stood.
Shane instantly took note of this. "IN THERE, WE CAN GET TO THE ROOF!" Shane yelled out, as he bolted into the parking garage. Lee groaned and followed after him. An unfortunate walker happened to be in Shane's path. Shane knocked the walker down with the butt of his gun before stopping to put a shot into its head.
Martin stopped to look at the corpse, "Damn."
There was a door to the right of Shane which had a sign above it. It read, "STAIRWELL" Shane tried to open up the door, but he was met with a sound of a locked door.
"Come on guys, let's get the hell up these damn stairs." Shane scoffed at the locked door before smashing the butt of his shotgun into it to break open the window. He reached his hand in on the other side in order to unlock the door. He pushed open the door and began running up the stairs.
Lee ran inside after him, he took a quick glance over his shoulder, noticing that walkers were not far behind them.
Martin also took a quick glance back before speeding up after Lee. They had continued climbing up the stairs and were very close to the roof.
Martin yelled out, "Shit man, these stairs are killing me!" He chuckled a bit at himself.
Shane scoffed once again, "Not the damn time, man." Martin dragged himself up one of the final steps to get on sturdy ground before the next set of stairs.
"Oh screw you Shane, you're a fucking asshole, you know that. I'm just trying to make light of the situation." Martin yelled out.
Lee glanced down at Martin on the stairwell, at the last second, noticing that a walker was behind one of the stairwell doors. The walker broke through the door's glass and grabbed onto Martin. Lee looked at him with wide eyes, as Martin began to scream.
"SHIT, MARTIN!" Lee yelled out as he ran towards him as fast as he could, but it was too late. The walker got its arms around his neck and took a hefty chunk of his neck out. Martin began to gargle as the walker continued chewing on his neck, he looked at Lee with tears in his eyes. Lee stopped before Martin and looked at him. Lee glanced toward the ground and gulped. "I'm sorry, Martin."
Lee took the knife that Martin had given him and jammed it into the temple of his head. He watched as life left his eyes. Martin fell back but still laid in the grasp of the walker.
"LEE! NO TIME FOR A FUCKING FUNERAL, GET YOUR ASS UP HERE!" Shane yelled out. Lee turned around to face the stairwell and to his surprise, around a ton of walkers were coming up the stairs.
"SHIT!" Lee ran up the set of stairs after Shane. They finally reached the rooftop of the parking garage, Lee slammed the door shut behind him. Shane paced around, rubbing his head, with a look of distress on his face.
"The hell we do now man." Shane exclaimed.
Lee walked towards him, and looked around. There were a few cars on the roof of the parking garage. Lee walked over to the railing of the roof and loomed over it. At the bottom of the parking garage, he saw the horde of walkers from earlier walking in.
"Oh you gotta be fucking kidding me." Lee said as he leaned over the railing, putting his hands on his face. Shane walked over to Lee and leaned himself over the railing as well. Shane looked down towards the walkers.
He glanced at Lee before looking back towards the cars near them. "Shit..." Shane groaned out.
"What is it?" Lee said to him, looking up towards him.
"You know what we could do Lee, we could use one of those cars and set the alarm off, open up that door, then we hide somewhere. It odd to draw the walkers out up on top of here. Then we can just go back down once the stairwell clears out."
Lee chuckled a bit and stood up from the railing.
"It could work. But there's no way that each individual walker is gonna clear out of there. Too many of them." Lee began to pace around the rooftop when he noticed something, there was a possible way out. The parking garage didn't stand very far away from the balconies of an apartment building.
"Shane, over here." Lee yelled out.
"What you got man?" Shane said as he walked over to Lee.
Lee placed his hands over the railing and exclaimed, "It's risky, but we don't have any other options really. We gotta jump to that balcony." Lee stepped back from the railing and looked at Shane. Shane looked at him with a raised eyebrow, before glancing to the floor. He seemed to ponder the idea.
He rubbed his head and looked back up towards Lee, "Shit, let's do it man. I'll go first." Lee stepped back a bit away from Shane, allowing him room to make the jump. Shane threw his shotgun over and onto the balcony before stumbling back. He began to muster up a sprint. He began running and jumped cleanly over the railing, he soared intro the air.
"WOOOAH! SHIT!" He yelled out as he landed on the balcony, he paced around a bit before picking up his shotgun.
"Get your ass over here man!" Lee gulped a bit before stepping back from the railing. He began to sprint and placed his foot on top of the railing, jumping off of it.
"OHHH SHITTT!" Lee flailed his arms as he jumped from the railing. Lee landed on the balcony but lost his footing and slammed through the glass patio door of the apartment. *THUD* His head hit the hard wooden floor of the apartment living room. Dazed and confused, Lee looked up at the ceiling of the apartment. Shane loomed over Lee and looked up at the ceiling.
"That's a nice ceiling fan right there." Shane chuckled a bit before offering Lee a hand up. Lee looked at Shane and gripped onto his hand. Lee dusted himself off with his hands and took a breather. Shane walked around the apartment a bit, stepping into the kitchen, opening up some of the cabinets.
"You know Lee, I like you. You get shit done." Lee looked at Shane before turning around to look around the apartment. The apartment was in a very bad condition. The paint was coming off of the walls, and the doors of the apartment were very busted.
"Thanks..." Lee started to walk towards the door of the apartment to leave but was interrupted.
"Ay, Lee, where are you going man." Shane said.
Lee turned around to look at Shane, he crossed his arms and responded, "Leaving."
Shane raised his eyebrow and took a step forward. "I don't think that's a good idea right now." Shane said as he pointed towards Lee. Shane slumped himself down on the old, dusty couch of the apartment.
"We stay here for the night, let those walkers clear out a bit." He exclaimed.
Lee nodded his head and walked into the living room. "You're right."
Lee stepped out into the balcony and looked off into the distance of the city. It was just now starting to hit dusk. He had to look through the small opening between the garage and apartment building.
"Odd place for a balcony" Lee thought to himself.
In the distance, he saw the skyscrapers of Atlanta, which seemed that they had bombs dropped on them at some point. Lee walked back inside the apartment after a while of thinking. Lee walked past Shane, who was already knocked out cold. Lee walked into the apartment's one bedroom and looked around.
"Bed's still in decent condition." Lee walked over and flopped into the bed. It didn't take long for Lee to pass out, he was exhausted from today...
Lee ran onto the campsite where he and Clem had stayed and saw the all familiar bandit faces. One of them had grabbed onto Clementine's hair, and threw her to the ground. Lee tried running towards the bandit, but was unable too. The bandit laughed at Lee's attempt, "Can't save your little girl now, huh?" Lee tried flinging his arms out at the man, but still was not able too. It's like his whole body was falling into quicksand. The bandits started laughing at Lee, and the bandit with Clementine began to point his gun at her. "NO, DON'T KILL HER!" Lee yelled out in desperation.
*BANG*
Lee awoke with a yell and flung himself into a sitting position. His heart was racing from the dream that he had. He inhaled and exhaled quickly, with a small tear in his eye. The morning sunshine had flooded into the room, which lit up all of the dust that was in the apartment. Lee brought himself to the edge of the bed and placed his legs onto the ground.
Shane walked into the bedroom in which Lee had slept and put his arm on the door frame, leaning onto it. "You alright man? I heard yelling."
Lee looked up towards Shane, "Just had a nightmare... that's all."
Shane glanced down and curiously asked, "What about? I have them a lot too, man."
Lee stood up and closed his eyes for a few seconds before responding, "My uh-daughter, Clementine. She's back at the motel with Ross and all of them. I'm missing her something bad right now."
Shane nodded his head and brought himself out of his leaning position, stepping back. "Sure you do man. We're gonna get our asses home, I'll tell you that." Lee and Shane made their way out into the apartment building hallways cautiously. Both having their guns readied for any walker or person. Shane took the lead as he pushed through the hallway, heading for the stairs of the apartment.
Lee kept up after him and asked, "Are you a cop or military maybe? Seems like you've been trained in this." Lee and Shane climbed down the first flight of stairs and began heading for the next one.
"Yeah, I was a cop before all this..." Lee chuckled a bit and glanced towards Shane, "You know the funny thing is, before all this, I was heading towards prison in a cop car."
Shane went down the next flight of stairs with Lee following behind. They had finally reached the ground floor of the apartment.
Shane glanced towards Lee with a raised eyebrow, "For real? You were heading to prison? You don't strike me as that kind of guy." Lee walked towards the glass entrance doors of the apartment and looked out of them.
"Clear" Lee thought to himself. Lee put his hand on the push bar of the door, "I'm not that kind of guy. I just made a mistake, a mistake that was going to ruin my life."
Lee pushed open the door and made his way outside with Shane. The road outside was surprisingly... empty? They began to walk back the way that Lee had driven into the city, passing by abandoned shops, cars, houses. The smell of corpses in the city was something horrid. Every corner had a corpse laying on it.
"It's weird as hell man... Where the hell did all those walkers go?" Shane exclaimed. He had his shotgun readied the entire time they were walking.
Lee responded, "Don't know, don't care, as long as they're away from us. Probably got led away by something." Lee and Shane had made decent ground, besides the every so often couple pairs of walkers. They dispatched them quite easily. They were now at the entrance of the city.
"Y'know, I had a police officer that was my partner... His name was Rick, he was my best friend. Went into a coma after he got shot, and man... he's dead now. I heard no beat when I went into that hospital room on the day of the outbreak." Shane looked saddened by what he had said, glancing towards the ground, he rubbed his head in distress and let his shotgun hang towards the ground.
Lee looked towards Shane with a slight frown and wince in his eyebrows, "Sorry to hear it." The sound of a sports car in the distance roared towards Shane and Lee, they both looked behind them to see a red challenger approaching them quickly.
"Oh shit." Shane yelled out as he jumped to the side of the road. Lee did the same. The challenger approached but slowed down as it rolled next to Lee and Shane. The car window rolled down and revealed an Asian man with a baseball cap.
"You assholes need a ride?" The man yelled out.
Shane smiled and jogged around the side of the car, "Get your ass in here, Lee!" Shane hopped into the vehicle and threw his shotgun into the back of the car. Lee walked around and got in as well. Shane was squished in between the two.
"My name's Glenn, what's up Lee!" Glenn yelled out. "This shit ain't gonna be comfortable" Shane groaned. Both Lee and Glenn laughed in response to the way Shane had looked.
They were just about to the hotel by this point and everyone had calmed down by now. This day seemed to be a lot better for everyone so far... until it wasn't. In the distance as they sped down the road, the motel had come into view. However, something was wrong... The motel gate looked like it had been rammed by a truck, and as they got closer, that's exactly what had happened. Some of the other fences had been rammed down, along with walkers inside of the perimeter.
Some flames were coming from the inside of the fences as well.
"WE GOTTA HELP THEM, STOP THE CAR DAMN IT!" Glenn had slammed on the brakes in front of the motel. Shane and Lee hopped out of the car quickly with guns in hand. Glenn seemed to stay back in the car.
Lee ran inside of the motel walls, "CLEM? CLEMENTINE!" He yelled out in desperation." Lee noticed his axe laying on a barrel near the gate. He snatched the axe and walked towards the nearby walkers inside of the motel. They were pounding on some of the motel rooms. There were corpses of some people from the motel, and what looked like bandits. The familiar faces of Richard and Lola were one of the few corpses. Lee walked towards the walkers, completely enraged he brought his axe up.
"AAAAAHHHH!" Lee flung his axe into the walker pounding onto Ross's motel room window. The next walker came up towards Lee, before getting its head sliced off. A walker came up behind Lee but was quickly shot by Shane. It dropped to the ground quickly. Lee nodded to Shane.
"Watch my back, will you?" Shane nodded in response and took the right side of Lee, shooting the few walkers lined up against the other rooms. Lee tried opening up Ross's hotel room door, but to no avail.
He pounded on the door, "OPEN UP!" He heard some sounds from the inside, before the door unlocked and the familiar face of Logan opened up the door. Lee and Shane rushed inside of the room. Logan slammed the door shut and pushed one of the drawers over it. Lee looked around the room for Clementine, but she was nowhere to be seen.
"LOGAN? WHERE THE HELL IS CLEMENTINE? DO YOU KNOW IF THOSE SONS OF BITCHES TOOK HER?"
Logan looked at Lee with wide eyes and mumbled out, "They must of, Lee. They took a couple others as well. Ross was one of em'." Lee stepped forward towards Logan and Shane, glaring at them.
Lee's lips quivered in anger as his eyebrows winced, "All of these sons of bitches are gonna have something in common soon, they're all gonna be FUCKING DEAD."
