I originally published this story on Deviantart back on 25 November 2021 since that was Thanksgiving day.

I do not own Peanuts. It's owned by WildBrain, Sony Music and the Schulz family. However, I do own Henry Wold.

Thanksgiving was slowly approaching, and Snoopy was approaching the mailbox. Upon opening the mailbox, he rummaged through all the letters. Snoopy opened one that was addressed to him. Upon reading it, he danced with excitement and went inside. Charlie Brown and Sally were having breakfast when Snoopy walked in excitedly.

"Big Brother." Said Sally. "Look at Snoopy."

"Huh?!" quizzed Charlie Brown, who saw Snoopy looking very excited. "What are you excited about, Snoopy?"

Snoopy handed Charlie Brown the letter he was given, and Charlie Brown read it.

Dear Snoopy,

My dad has gotten a job in your neighbourhood,

which means we can no longer rent our flat.

So we are moving into your neighbourhood

on Thanksgiving Day.

This means I will be joining you for Thanksgiving

this year.

Your old owner,

Lila.

"Lila?"

"Who's Lila, Big Brother?" asked Sally.

"She used to own Snoopy before he became our dog, Sally." Said Charlie Brown. "And she's moving into our neighbourhood. Snoopy looks excited, meaning he'll get to see more of her."

Snoopy nodded with excitement.

"Oh, I'm looking forward to meeting her." Said Charlie Brown. "That reminds me. Thanksgiving is around the corner. We can hold a special Thanksgiving Dinner to welcome her!"

Later, Charlie Brown walked over to the phone to invite some friends over for his special Thanksgiving Dinner.

"Come on, Charlie Brown….." said Charlie Brown to himself.

"Make sure to invite my boyfriend over!" Sally said.

As soon as she said this, the telephone rang. Charlie Brown picked it up.

"Hello? Er….. it's for you, Sally."

"Hello?" said Sally, as Charlie Brown handed the phone to her.

"I am NOT your boyfriend!" Linus shouted angrily.

"Oh, Linus! You're so cute when you're angry!" swooned Sally.

"Give it back to me, Sally." Said Charlie Brown as Sally gave the phone back to him.

"Linus. I was just about to phone you." Charlie Brown said.

"What is it about, Charlie Brown?" asked Linus.

"As you know, Thanksgiving is coming, and I would like to know….."

"I would love to come over, Charlie Brown!" cried Linus.

"Great!" said Charlie Brown. "Because there'll be a special guest there."

"A special guest?" quizzed Linus.

Charlie Brown decided to walk across to the Wold place and invite Heather the Little Red-Haired Girl to his Thanksgiving Feast. Charlie Brown rang the doorbell, and who should open it but Heather.

"Oh! Hello, Charlie Brown!" smiled Heather.

"Hi, Heather!" said Charlie Brown. "Er….. would you like to come over to my place for Thanksgiving Dinner?"

"No. I'm afraid not." Heather replied.

"Wha?!" Charlie Brown exclaimed.

"Because I'm having a Thanksgiving Dinner of my own." Heather explained.

"Oh. I see." Sighed Charlie Brown.

"Not to worry, Charlie Brown." Said Heather. "I have a better idea. Why don't you come over to my place for Thanksgiving instead?"

"I'm not sure. What would Snoopy think?" wondered Charlie Brown.

"Come on, Charlie Brown! It'll be fun!" cajoled Heather.

"Okay. Anything to get this feast away from the Cat Next Door." Charlie Brown said, knowing Snoopy's feud with said cat.

"Cat Next Door?" quizzed Heather.

"Er…. It's a long story." Stuttered Charlie Brown.

Charlie Brown went back home to speak to Snoopy. Snoopy was on top of his doghouse.

"Snoopy. I have a better idea."

"Huh?!" Snoopy pondered.

"Why don't we all go over to Heather's for Thanksgiving?" suggested Charlie Brown.

"Oh?" Snoopy wondered again.

"You won't have to deal with that vicious Cat Next Door." Charlie Brown convinced.

"Ay!"

Snoopy was so happy to hear he wouldn't be spending Thanksgiving near the Cat Next Door, he danced a jig. He was even more excited because this meant he would be celebrating Thanksgiving with the dog of his dreams.

"Well, that got him in a good mood." Charlie Brown said.

The telephone rang, and Sally answered it.

"Hello? Yes? Alright, I'll call him."

Sally put the phone back on the table and went out to see Charlie Brown.

"Big Brother! Your girlfriend's on the phone!"

"Now why would Heather be phoning me when she can simply come across the road to talk to me?" Charlie Brown wondered.

Charlie Brown went inside, and picked up the phone.

"Hello? Heather?"

"No. It's Peppermint Patty."

"Peppermint Patty?!"

"Didn't call you at a bad time, did I, Chuck?" asked Peppermint Patty.

"Er, no. In fact, you called at a good time."

"I've been thinking, Chuck. Should I come over for Thanksgiving Dinner, or shouldn't I?"

"Well, I was going to have Thanksgiving at my place, but….."

"Come on, Chuck! You can invite me over."

"I've decided to have Thanksgiving over at Heather's place instead."

"What?!"

"I'll go and tell her you wanna come. Don't go away."

Charlie Brown put the phone back on the table, and walked over to the Wold place, and rang the doorbell. But Heather didn't answer it. Her mother did.

"Hi. Is Heather home?"

Mrs. Wold explained that Heather wasn't home.

"She's not?!"

Mrs. Wold properly answered that Heather was absent.

"Well. Tell her Peppermint Patty would like to come over for Thanksgiving Dinner." Charlie Brown said.

The reason Heather wasn't home was because she was taking her brother Henry for a stroll.

"I love fall. The colour of the falling leaves reminds me of my hair, as well as my little brother's hair. Isn't that right, Henry?"

Henry looked around at his surroundings. He was intrigued by the fallen leaves.

"My brother really likes fall." Heather thought.

Heather stopped over at the Rich place. She pushed the stroller towards the place, and rang the doorbell. Who should open it but Frieda.

"Hello, Heather." Said Frieda. "How do you do today?"

"Wonderful, Frieda." Said Heather. "I've been meaning to ask you."

"Yes?"

"Would you like to come over on Thanksgiving?"

"I would love to, Heather." Frieda said joyfully.

"Great! We're making a special dinner for all our friends!"

"I'm sure the dinner will be as fine as my naturally curly hair."

"O… kay. Anyway, I have to continue taking my brother for a stroll."

"Oh, is this Henry?"

Frieda looked down at Henry.

"Why aren't you a cute one? Yes you are!"

Henry just covered his eyes.

"Oh?" Frieda said, confused.

"He's just shy in front of anyone outside of his family." Said Heather.

Meanwhile, Charlie Brown was phoning Linus about Heather's Thanksgiving dinner.

"Hello?" said Linus. "Oh. Hi, Charlie Brown."

"Linus, Change of plan. Instead of our Thanksgiving dinner, Heather's throwing one at her house. You can go there instead."

"Sounds like a plan, Charlie Brown. Tell her I'll be there."

"Alright." Said Charlie Brown.

The day of Thanksgiving had arrived. Snoopy was ecstatic. His old owner would be arriving that day, and he couldn't wait to see her again. So he wrote a note and stuck it on the Browns' door. He wanted to tell the guest to meet him across the street.

"Ha." Said Snoopy.

Snoopy went across the road to meet Fifi. He walked into the backyard to see Fifi.

"Ya!" called Fifi.

"Hey!" cheered Snoopy.

Snoopy and Fifi ran to hug each other. Woodstock flew into the Wold yard to see where his canine friend had gone. Woodstock saw Snoopy and Fifi go into Fifi's doghouse. Woodstock decided to follow suit. Later, they all walked out dressed as pilgrims. Snoopy knocked on the backdoor and Heather answered it.

"Good grief!" sighed Heather.

Snoopy went with Fifi to the Wolds' kitchen to prepare the Thanksgiving dinner. He wanted to prepare toast, pretzels, popcorn and jellybeans, but Fifi had other ideas.

"Huh?" Snoopy puzzled.

Fifi put on a toque, and set to work preparing her own unusual Thanksgiving dinner.

"Ooooh!" Snoopy and Woodstock cooed.

Fifi made an even more unusual Thanksgiving Dinner. She cooked up some cupcakes and covered them in orange icing. She got many bowls of red jello out of the refrigerator. She prepared some pretzels. And last of all, she added some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

"Ooh!" said Snoopy.

Fifi waited for Heather's guests to arrive before she could lay out the food. Heather came in and was surprised to see what food her dog had been preparing.

"Wow!" Heather cried.

The first person to arrive at the Wold place was Janice. Janice rang the doorbell, and Heather answered it.

"Janice! Hello!" said Heather.

"Hello, Heather!" said Janice. "Happy Thanksgiving."

"Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Janice. Come on in. Oh, I have to remind you, our Thanksgiving dinner is rather unusual, different to the one you're used to."

"Ooh! Can't wait to feast!"

The next people to arrive were Charlie and Sally Brown.

"Hi, Sally! Hi, Charlie Brown! Glad you could make it!" said Heather.

"Glad to be here, Heather." Said Charlie Brown.

"I'll have to warn you, Charlie Brown." Said Heather. "My Thanksgiving dinner is rather unusual."

"Can't wait to feast on it!" said Sally. "I also can't wait for my sweet babboo to show up!"

"Sweet baboon? Er, I didn't invite a monkey to my house." Stuttered Heather.

"Not 'Baboon'! 'Babboo'!" laughed Sally. "I'm talking about Linus!"

"But he says he's not your sweet babboo!" Heather said.

"Well what does he know?"

"What do I know?!" came a voice.

"Huh?!" Sally puzzled.

Charlie Brown turned back and saw that Linus had arrived along with Lucy and Rerun.

"Oh! My sweet babboo!" Sally swooned.

"Good grief! Here we go again!" sighed Charlie Brown.

"I am NOT your sweet babboo!" shouted Linus.

"Not this again! Come on! Let's go in!" sighed Lucy.

After the Van Pelt siblings came Peppermint Patty, Marcie, and Franklin.

"Hi, Heather!" said Peppermint Patty.

"Great to see you, Heather." Said Marcie.

"Thanks for inviting us over!" Franklin finished.

"Oh, don't thank me for inviting you. Thank Charlie Brown. He got the idea to invite you here." Said Heather.

"Alright, Heather." Said Peppermint Patty.

The next guest to come in was Frieda.

"Heather! Hello!" said Frieda.

"Hi, Frieda! Come on in!"

"Oh, I'm so pleased to be here!"

"Dinner will be prepared soon." Heather explained.

"I'm sure this dinner will be as divine as my naturally curly hair!" Frieda bragged.

"O…..kay." Heather said.

Charlie Brown spoke up.

"Wait a minute! We have another guest coming! Good grief! She addressed the letter to my house! Er….. I'll be right back!"

"Charlie Brown! Wait!" called Heather.

As Charlie Brown left the Wold place, who should arrive but Schroeder.

"Hi, Schroeder!" said Heather.

"Hello, Heather. Thanks for inviting me." said Schroeder.

"My pleasure, Schroeder!"

Once Schroeder entered the Wold place, Heather was puzzled.

"What is Charlie Brown up to now?" Heather wondered.

Sally spoke up.

"We're getting a special guest coming to Thanksgiving dinner. We were going to have dinner at our place until you gave my big brother the idea of having it here, so he's going to tell the guest we're having the dinner here."

Fifi came in and called out.

"Dinner's ready! Come on out! Let's eat!" called Heather.

"Great! I'm starved!" cheered Peppermint Patty.

So all the Peanuts went out back and got ready to tuck into their unusual Thanksgiving dinner. Fifi removed the domes covering the food. Fifi gave each guest a cupcake, a bowl of jello, some pretzels, and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

"Where has Charlie Brown gone off to?" Heather wondered.

Charlie Brown was standing outside his house, waiting for the special guest to arrive. At last, a car pulled up

"Hi!" said Charlie Brown.

Back at the Wolds' place, Frieda looked at the weird Thanksgiving dinner.

What's this? A cupcake? A peanut butter and jelly sandwich? A bowl of jello? Pretzels? Who cooked all this?"

"Frieda!" cried Janice.

"Good grief!" sighed Peppermint Patty. "Now Frieda's doing what I did when I went to Chuck's Thanksgiving dinner."

"Don't remind us, Sir." Sighed Marcie.

"This isn't the Thanksgiving I asked for!" said Frieda. "What about the pumpkin pie? The turkey? The cranberry sauce?"

"Er…. Frieda?" said Heather.

"Er, Frieda? Don't you think you're being hard on Heather?" asked Marcie.

"Hard? Come on! This isn't the kind of Thanksgiving dinner I'm used to!" Frieda ranted.

"Frieda!" Heather called.

"Nobody serves sweet stuff on Thanksgiving!"

"Frieda, we're going to have that kind of dinner later!" Heather explained.

"Oh. I didn't think of it like that." Frieda said, now realising her mistake.

Snoopy just stood there, waiting for the guest of honour. Heather waited too.

"Come on, Charlie Brown!" worried Heather.

At last, Charlie Brown had returned.

"Hi, guys!" called Charlie Brown.

"Charlie Brown!" everyone cried.

"But I'm not alone." Said Charlie Brown.

"But….. who else is here?" wondered Janice.

"Let me introduce you to…" Charlie Brown began.

"Come on, Charlie Brown! Spit it out!" cried Lucy.

"The special guest!"

Into Heather's backyard walked a girl. A girl with long blonde hair, and dressed in a teal dress, a teal bow in her hair, teal socks, and white sneakers.

"Look at her!" exclaimed Franklin.

"Wow! She's beautiful!" cried Schroeder, admiring the girl's blonde hair.

She's not that beautiful!" scoffed Lucy.

"Whoa!" Linus exclaimed.

The girl walked over to the table and gave a smile.

"Hi! I'm Lila!"

"Lila?" questioned Sally.

Snoopy, hearing the girl's name, ran to hug her.

"Snoopy! It's such a pleasure to see you again!" smiled Lila, as she knelt down and hugged Snoopy back.

"She is Snoopy's original owner!" Charlie Brown exclaimed.

"Join us for dinner, Lila!" said Heather.

"I couldn't be here for any other reason, except to see Snoopy again." Smiled Lila.

Lila took her seat, and looked at all the food Fifi had prepared.

"Cupcakes? Pretzels? Jello? Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? Did you cook this, Snoopy?" Lila said.

Snoopy looked at Lila and shook his head.

"Now this is the kind of Thanksgiving I like!" smiled Lila.

"Come on, Charlie Brown! Join the feast!" said Heather.

"I couldn't be here for any other reason, except to be with the most beautiful Little Red-Haired Girl in the world."

Charlie Brown took his seat next to Heather, and everyone dug into their strange Thanksgiving dinner.

"Wow! This dinner is delish!" Charlie Brown said.

"It may not be a normal Thanksgiving dinner," said Peppermint Patty. "but it's still a tasty one."

"Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? I'm in!" Linus said.

"Do you like this kind of Thanksgiving dinner, Sir?" asked Marcie.

"Yes, Marcie." Said Peppermint Patty. "At least we'll be getting a proper Thanksgiving dinner later."

At last, everyone had finished their Thanksgiving dinner, and Schroeder walked up to Lila.

"Hi, Lila." Said Schroeder. "The name's Schroeder."

"Nice to meet you, Schroeder." Said Lila.

"I like to play Beethoven on my piano." Said Schroeder.

"Good grief! Again with Beethoven!" sighed Lucy.

"Beethoven? I love Ludwig!" cried Lila.

"Wow! And you know his first name, Lila!" said Schroeder.

"I sure do! I've been listening to Beethoven ever since I adopted Snoopy from Daisy Hill Puppy Farm."

Janice walked over to Lila, and noticed something about her.

"Hi, Lila. I'm Janice."

"Nice to meet you, Janice."

"I like that bow you're wearing in your hair."

"Thanks, Janice. Say, that bow you're wearing reminds me of mine."

"Really? Well….. "

Janice was about to continue her conversation with Lila when Linus walked up to them. He was surprised to see…..

"Two Janices?! How can there be two Janices?!"

"Er…. Who's this kid here?" asked Lila.

"This is Linus." Said Janice. "He's my sweet babboo."

"HE'S NOT YOUR SWEET BABBOO!" shouted Sally.

"He is, but he isn't, but he is." Said Janice.

"I'm confused." Puzzled Lila. "Who's sweet babboo is Linus?"

"Charlie Brown's sister calls Linus her sweet babboo." Said Janice.

"And I keep telling her I'm not!" said Linus angrily. "Anyway, how can there be two Janices?"

"But I'm not Janice! I'm Lila!"

"I know, Lila. I was just playing with you." chuckled Linus.

Mrs. Wold called everyone to tell them that dinner has been prepared.

"Dinner's ready?" Everyone called.

"Yummers! Can't wait for a real Thanksgiving dinner!" cheered Peppermint Patty.

"There you go again with perfections, Sir." Said Marcie.

So all the children sat around the dining table, ready to eat their dinner of turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potato, and pumpkin pie when Lila spoke up.

"Hold it! Before we dig in, shouldn't we say amazing grace first?" asked Lila.

And Linus said grace.

In the year 1621, pilgrims held their first Thanksgiving feast. They invited the great Indian chief Massasoit, who brought ninety of his brave Indians to a great source of food. Governor William Bradford and Captain Miles Standish were honoured guests. Elder William Brewster, who was a minister, said a prayer that went something like this;

We thank God for our homes and our food, and our safety in a new land. We thank God for the opportunity to create a new world for freedom and justice.

"Hold on!" said Janice. "Let me say what I'm thankful for."

"Go on, Janice." Said Heather.

"I am thankful for having such wonderful friends, most especially Linus." Janice said.

"Wow!" Linus smiled.

"Amen."

And they all dug into their dinner.

"Now this is a proper Thanksgiving dinner!" said Frieda.

"Say, Lila. You like Beethoven, right?" asked Schroeder.

"I sure do, Schroeder." Said Lila.

"You're free to come to my house anytime to listen to all the Beethoven you want." Said Schroeder.

"Good grief!" sighed Lucy.

"Say, Lila." Said Heather.

"Yes?" asked Lila.

"What brings you to our wonderful neighbourhood?" asked Heather.

"I'm glad you asked…. Er….."

"Heather."

"Heather. My dad just got a job in this neighbourhood, and we had to buy a house in this neighbourhood in order for him to be closer to work. I was excited to move here because I knew that's where Snoopy lives now!"

Snoopy, hearing what Lila had said, cheered and ran to Lila, kissing her cheek. Lila, feeling the kiss, blushed.

"I missed you too, Snoopy!" smiled Lila.

"Like old times, huh, Snoopy?" asked Charlie Brown.

"I don't know how you can stand that!" groaned Lucy.

Snoopy nodded.

"Tell you what, Snoopy." Said Lila. "Would you like to come over to my house tonight? If that's okay with you, Charlie Brown?"

"I don't mind." Said Charlie Brown.

Fifi, hearing Lila and Charlie Brown, started to worry.

When the Thanksgiving feast was over, it was time for everyone to leave. As Charlie Brown was leaving, Heather hugged him.

"Goodbye, Charlie Brown!" said Heather. And thank you for coming!"

Charlie Brown, feeling the hug, blushed.

"Anytime, Heather!"

Heather went to her backyard to see how Fifi was going. She noticed the long face on her dog.

"Something wrong, Fifi?" asked Heather.

Fifi put her front paws in the form of a heart.

"Oh, you're missing Snoopy? Don't worry, my Fifi. He's only staying at Lila's for a night. Then he'll be back with Good Old Charlie Brown!"

Now how is Snoopy going at Lila's new house? Well…..

"Snoopy, do you remember the good times we've had when you were my dog?" asked Lila.

Snoopy nodded, and Lila picked up a ball.

"Here, Snoopy! Fetch!" called Lila.

Lila threw the ball, and Snoopy ran to fetch it. He returned with the ball in his mouth and dropped it.

"Now, Snoopy. Shake."

Snoopy walked into the kitchen and returned with a strawberry milkshake.

"Well, not what I meant, but still a nice treat."

"Yay!" cheered Snoopy.

That evening, when Lila went to bed, she changed into a purple gown, and replaced the teal bow in her hair with a purple one. Lila was surprised to see Snoopy in her bed.

"Snoopy? Aw, you really missed me."

Lila climbed into her bed with Snoopy by her side, and she wrapped her arm around him.

"Aw!" Snoopy said.

"Just like old times! Well, goodnight, Snoopy."

The next morning, Lila went over to the Browns' place, and knocked on the door.

"I'll get it this time." Said Charlie Brown.

Charlie Brown answered the door, and there stood Lila and Snoopy.

"Hello, Charlie Brown." Said Lila.

"Hi, Lila! Hi, Snoopy!"

"Thank you for lending Snoopy to me, Charlie Brown."

"My pleasure, Lila." Said Charlie Brown.

Lila knelt down to hug Snoopy, and Snoopy hugged her back.

"You're welcome in my house anytime, Snoopy. Come and visit me all you want." Said Lila.

Lila then kissed Snoopy before returning home.

"Aw!" said Snoopy.

"Seems you had a great time at Lila's new place, didn't you, Snoopy?" said Charlie Brown.

Snoopy nodded, and hugged Charlie Brown. And Charlie Brown hugged back.

"No place like home, huh, Boy?"

Snoopy chuckled. He couldn't be happier. He could see his current owner every day and see his original owner as often as possible now, thanks to Lila's parents allowing dogs in her new house.

"Good old, Snoopy. You're happy again, aren't you?" asked Charlie Brown.

Snoopy nodded at this.
