Peter pulled on his blue and red suit that he had sewn together. He saved up a lot of money from babysitting the neighbor's kids and selling photos to the Daily Bugle. Though that didn't mean the suit he made would be very good. It was made of pure spandex. It looked decent in his opinion, it's not like it was baggy like pajamas or anything, but he wished he could upgrade it like his favorite superhero's, Iron Man's, suit. Speaking of Iron Man, that was where he was heading now.

He wasn't exactly thrilled about it. While he had always dreamed of meeting Iron Man, he would have preferred it if it wasn't during this setting. See, Peter was a mutant and an unregistered mutant at that. All mutants were supposed to register properly, but he didn't want to do that. Almost no one knew he was a mutant anyway, and since he was under the age of eighteen, he would be sent away to some boarding school for other mutant kids. He loved Ned and MJ, and he loved his Aunt May. He refused to let them send him away. So he would prefer it if he was unregistered.

But of course SHIELD, of all people, had to find out. He honestly had no idea how they did. He thought he had been careful or as careful as you can be in a world where everyone keeps a camera in their pocket at all times. But one day he got home from school only to find some man in a business suit named Coulson or something talking to his aunt. Then the man took Peter to his room and explained that he was from SHIELD and knew about his extracurricular activities. Peter was bordering on panic when the man said something along the lines of, "Look kid, I'm here to make a deal. I won't report you if you do SHIELD a favor. The Avengers are in a… disagreement. You don't need to worry yourself about the political side of it. However, as of recently, half of the Avengers are considered war criminals. They are, how you young people say, 'duking it out'? Our group consists of Iron Man, War Machine, Black Widow, Black Panther, and Vision. We're fighting Captain America, The Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, The Falcon, The Scarlet Witch, and a new guy who goes by Ant-Man. As you can imagine, We're outnumbered by one. Now tell me, who better to fight an ant than a spider?"

That was how Peter got into the situation he was in now. Here he was in a foreign country putting on his spandex suit in his "room" in some sort of government facility before he had to go fight a bunch of people he had admired over the years. As far as he knew, they didn't know who he was other than Spider-Man, which was fine with him. All he had left was his mask. The door to his concrete room squealed as it opened suddenly. Peter quickly covered his face. The visitor, Coulson, scoffed, "At ease," he tossed something small and black to Peter who easily caught it, "It's a communication device. The others just call them comms. We use them to communicate on the battlefield. It goes in your ear, like an earbud."

Peter popped it in his right ear, "Thanks."

Coulson nodded, "Get your mask on. We're leaving."

Peter quickly pulled it on and rushed out of the door after the agent.

The battle was intense. He was absolutely buzzing with adrenaline. He couldn't believe it. He stole Captain America's shield! And he took down Ant-Man! With a Star Wars reference! Unfortunately, he was so high on adrenaline that his spider-sense was picking up on everything. There was simply too much going on. Even in midair, he felt just so much. So much so that he didn't notice Ant-Man's stray hand as the giant fell.

Peter went flying through the air and headed directly to a concrete building that was most likely a storage warehouse for equipment at the airport. He crashed through the wall and into a luggage mover. The wind was knocked out of him. He gasped for air desperately. He heard a woman's voice through his comms, "Spider-Man? Come in Spider-Man. Are you alright? "

When his head stopped spinning, he realized it was the Black Widow. He took a couple more deep breaths before he meekly replied, "Yeah."

He heard Hawkeye and Natasha fighting over Hawkeye's stolen comm, but then he briefly heard Colonel Rhodes aka the freaking War Machine mention, "Take a break, kid."

Before he could respond, Peter got a little distracted when he saw a small chunk of the ceiling fall. And then another. And another. He whispered, "That's not good."

On the outside of the building, the fighting had stopped. Whether they were in the middle of a battle or not, both sides had stopped to look at the sky. A spaceship was hovering above the parking lot and was trying to land. As it descended slowly to the ground, the Avengers and Rogues simply gave each other a side glance as if to say, "This can wait. We have aliens on our hands."

They all took a battle position. Vision remained beside Wanda, Clint near Natasha, and even Tony near Steve. The ship slowly landed. A door on the ship opened and a runway extended from it. To everyone's surprise, Doctor Bruce Banner was the first person to step off. Tony questioned, "Bruce?"

The doctor shyly waved, "Hey. What's going on here?"

Tony flipped up his helmet. He shrugged, "The Avengers kinda broke up and now we're in a fight because of politics."

Bruce's eyebrows furrowed, "Broke up? Like a boyband? Like the Beatles?"

The billionaire replied, "Pretty much."

Next, Thor and a woman who was obviously some type of warrior walked out of the ship too. Thor announced, "Friends! I was not expecting to see you! I'm afraid my home planet has been destroyed due to my sister, long story, and we crash-landed here."

Clint commented, "I didn't know you had a sister."

Thor shrugged, "Neither did I," he took a glance at the others, "I see we have new members. I have a new comrade as well. This is Valkyrie," he gestured to the woman.

Speaking of new people…

Something must have clicked because Rhodey immediately flew to his comms. He called out, "Spider-Man! Are you sure you're alright?"

Back inside the building, it was not looking great. More parts of the ceiling were gone and the walls had started to crack. Peter took a quick look at the pillars holding the building up, and they were shaking. Whatever damage he had caused would surely bring the whole building down. His spidey sense was screaming at him. He needed to GET OUT NOW. Every step he took seemed uneven, but he honestly couldn't tell if it was the building or his panic. He tried to take a grounding breath. He heard through the comms, "Spider-Man! Are you sure you're alright?"

He shook his head even though no one could see him. He tried to keep his voice even as he replied, "I don't know."

A hush fell over the comms before Tony asked, "What do you mean you don't know? "

Peter tried his best not to whimper or act scared, but the truth was, he was terrified. His voice shook as he said, "I'm okay, but-but something's wrong. E-everything's breaking. I can't get out."

Tony replied quickly, "What's breaking? "

Before he could reply, the entire building started to shake. It was collapsing. Peter quickly looked back to where he fell in. It was high off the ground because of the way he flew in, and it would be dangerous if he tried to climb up to it. He saw it earlier, but he still hadn't figured out how to get back up there. He was trapped as soon as he stepped foot in the building.

He couldn't stop the scream ripping from his throat as it tumbled down.

Outside of the rubble, even those without comms could hear his scream. Avengers, Rogues, Thor, and Valkyrie all turned to the warehouse as it fell. Loki, of all people, poked himself out of the ship. He gasped as he recognized the sound.

Surprising everyone present, Loki started running toward the scream. He shouted, "It's the Spider-Child!"

He made it to the rubble before anyone else. His hands glowed green as he used his strength and magic to dig through the damage. He moved a rather large piece of concrete to reveal Spider-Man in an air pocket. Unfortunately, this did not ease the God of Mischief's worry. Peter was on his back. His arms were shaking as held the concrete above him. A sharp metal rebar was stuck out of the concrete and was aimed right above his heart. Peter heard rocks being moved. Straining his neck, he looked at the newcomer. He cried out in recognition, "Mr. Loki!"

Loki dive-bombed toward the poor boy. He desperately scooped the boy by the torso as green light enveloped them. They disappeared and teleported right outside the collapsed building. They sat on the ground as Loki cradled him. Peter wrapped his arms around the older man's torso and clung to the man's clothes. He had labored breathing.

The others ran towards them with Thor in the front. They watched their exchange.

Loki placed his left hand on Spider-Man's back and his other hand on his head. The boy was hyperventilating, Loki moved his hand to the base of Spider-Man's neck and ripped off his mask.

The others stared at the pair as brown curls tumbled down the young man's head.

The young man choked. Loki moved the young man and leaned him away. He heaved and vomited onto the airport pavement. Loki patted his back, "There there, sweet child. As my brother always says, it's better out than in." When Peter stopped vomiting and was only dry heaving, Loki sat him upright and wiped his mouth with a handkerchief he always kept in his pocket before placing it back.

Thor asked, "Brother, what is going on? Do you know this person?"

Loki nodded. Peter hugged him and buried his face in his neck. Loki replied as he held the boy, "I do," he asked Spider-Man, "Are you alright, my child?"

He felt Peter nod. The boy replied, "That was scary."

Loki ran his hand down the other's back. Loki's face softened as he leaned forward and kissed Peter's forehead. He said, "I know. It'll be okay."

Thor asked again, "Brother! What is going on?"

Loki looked up and replied, "They should all be ashamed of themselves, my brother. I thought they were labeled Midguard's mightiest heroes. But here they are using child soldiers!"

They all furrowed their brows and showed various looks of surprise and anger. Clint angrily stomped toward the two, "What?"

Natasha turned towards Tony, "You brought a kid here!?"

He threw his hands up defensively, "Now wait a minute! I never even met the guy until we got here."

Steve asked, "You didn't recruit him?"

Tony shook his head. Loki yelled at them, "I don't care if you recruited him or not. Why would you have him fight with you? He's only fourteen!"

War Machine's helmet lifted up, "Are you serious? You can't be serious!"

Loki stared daggers at the man, "You think I would jest of this? Of course not!" he said to the rest of the group, "I understand that he is what midgardians call a 'mutant', but that does not give you any right to use him."

Everyone opened their mouths to speak, but a small voice interrupted them. Peter released Loki and sat up; Loki moved his arms and let him. The boy, the very young boy as the others could now definitely see, had tear streaks down his face. He begged, "Please don't be mad at them, Mr. Loki."

Loki shook his head miserably at the boy, "Young Parker, you are a brave warrior, but you're not helping others here."

The boy tried, "They didn't know, sir. You see, SHIELD showed up and said if I fought for them, then I wouldn't have to register."

Loki allowed a small amount of shock on his face, "And if you did not participate?"

Peter looked down, "Then they would report me."

Steve stepped forward, "Is SHIELD threatening you, son?"

He nodded.

Loki scoffed, "Come now, Thor," he readjusted Peter and picked him up in his arms as he stood up, "We're leaving, and we're talking the Spider-Child with us."

Peter blushed, "Mr. Loki! It's Spider-Man!"

He chuckled, "Of course, my child."

Thor stood in shock before he came to his senses, "Oh! Yes, of course, brother. We will find somewhere else to go. I heard Norway is very nice this time of year!"

Thor, Loki, and Valkyrie walked back to the ship, taking Peter with them. They left Bruce and the others behind as the ship lifted into the air and took off.

A black SUV went racing towards the battlefield. They drifted to a stop in front of the group. Who else left the driver and passenger seats other than Coulson and Fury. Bucky was standing behind Steve, and the blond was grateful for it. Fury demanded as he walked forward, "I don't see any fighting. You motherfuckers better have won."

Tony looked at the man, "Yeah about that," he walked toward the black man, and his suit took itself off of him. Just in his business suit, the billionaire marched to Fury and stopped just a foot short of him. He yelled, "Why would you send a fourteen-year-old kid in here!?"

The others shifted glances. They had never seen their colleague and/or ex-colleague so furious. Coulson answered, "We needed him! You said so yourself that we were outnumbered."

Tony growled at him, "That doesn't mean you can bring some brat into this. You brought a kid to the battlefield. We could have killed him!"

Fury said calmly, "We've seen him in action. He isn't helpless. He has super hearing, super sight, hell, even super smell. Extreme super strength; even more than the Captain. He's also a motherfucking spider mutant. You've ever seen a man crawl on a ceiling with nothing but his fingertips? It's fucking creepy."

Tony didn't back down. He crossed his arms, "I thought you were better than this. And seen him in action? What was he doing before all," he gestured wildly, "this?"

Coulson said, "He has mainly been a small-time vigilante in Queens, New York. Rescuing cats out of trees, stopping bike thieves, even giving old ladies directions," Tony was going to yell at him some more, but Coulson continued, "But he has stopped bank robberies and muggings. He's stopped burglars, home invasions, and mutated lizards."

Tony shook his head, "You didn't see it. You didn't see how scared he was! Loki of all people had to save him when an entire building fell on him!"

Fury said angrily, "Loki was here!?"

Coulson added, "They've been seen communicating when Spider-Man is waiting for something to do. We aren't sure why, but he seems to have connections with Loki, the assassin Deadpool, and the vigilante Daredevil. We need to find them."

Tony looked down at them, "No."

The others looked at him in surprise. Tony repeated, "I'm not going to help you abuse children. Mutant or not, he's still a kid. My company, my name, has hurt too many kids over the years. Find him yourself," he motioned to Steve and Bucky, "You can get them yourself too. Now if you excuse me, I have a company to run," his suit formed around him, and he jetted away.

Back on the ship, Peter was standing in front of the Asgardians. Loki announced, "This is the midgardian warrior, Peter Parker! I met him months ago on a secret trip to Midgard, and I have never met anyone so.." his voice trailed away as he was unsure how to describe him. Adorable? Kind? Caring? They all fit him too well. Over on the floor was Mjolnir, Thor's trusty hammer. Loki smirked. He had an idea.

"Young Parker," Loki stated, "You see that hammer over there?" he pointed.

Peter nodded, "Yeah."

Loki nodded, "Will you please give it to my dearest brother, Thor?"

Peter replied, "Okie dokie, Mr. Loki sir."

They all watched silently as Peter made his way across the floor. He reached down, grabbed Mjolnir, and…

gently lifted it up.

They all gasped. He walked to Thor and offered the hammer. Thor tentatively took it with disbelief on his face. Then, a smile broke across his face, "I see why you like him, brother. He is worthy!"

Worthy. Finally, a word Loki could use. Peter was worthy. Worthy of Mjolnir, worthy of praise, and worthy of friendship. Loki looked on with fondness as other Asgardians swarmed the poor boy with a million and one questions. It was then when Loki promised himself that if SHIELD ever tried to use Peter Parker again, he would make their lives a living nightmare. And based on how well they seemed to welcome the boy, Loki was sure the other Asgardians would help.
