Weird Things begin to Occur
Spirit and her mother were picking fruit around their rainforest home when Spirit came back and put some odd berries into the basket they were using. She didn't notice though as she was reaching up for a bunch of bananas and didn't notice the berries as she had covered them with the bananas. It was only once they had returned and began to wash the fruits and berries that needed to be washed that Moon noticed them. She picked them up and paused unsure as to where they had come from. Even though she was getting familiar with a lot of berries she had never seen these before.
"Moon? You ok?" An icy but soft voice said, walking up behind her. She turned to look at her old icewing friend, who had come to visit his old classmates. "I'm not sure but me and Spirit were fruit picking to get ready for the picnic but I've never seen these berries before." She said, showing him the berries. He gawked, shocked at the berries. "You found these here? He said. "I guess I don't remember picking them. Spirit may have found them though. Why? What's wrong?" she said, growing worried that her daughter had gotten close to something dangerous.
"These are frost berries that are grown exclusively in the ice kingdom and used to make a fine beverage called chembel, used only in queen's meetings with other royal diplomats from other tribes. How the heck did they get here??" He wondered. Spirit suddenly came running over and climbing onto the icewing. "Uncle Winter!" she giggled gleefully. "Hey there you little spitfire." he gave a rumbling chuckle. "Did you find these? He asked her to show her the berries. "Yeah it was weird though I was walking and looking for some fruit when I sneezed then I tripped over some bushes roots. The thing is the bush wasn't there before. And the WEIRDEST part was it was cold for a little bit. Kinda like your scales Uncle." she said, looking over his shoulder at the berries. "Are they good?" she asked, reaching for the berries. After a quick nod from winter that they were, in fact, safe to eat, Moon handed Spirit a berry. "OOH cold!" she squeaked as she took the berry. "It's very good though!" she said after she had eaten the berry.
Spirit sneezed before jumping down and managed to glide for a little bit before running off stating she was heading to help her father prepare for the picnic they had planned. Winters' eye twitched as he felt a small electrical shock once spirit had sneezed. Once Spirit was out of earshot he looked to the Moon with a small look of concern. "Why did I just get an electric shock when she jumped off?" he whispered although she was already gone. "And why are bushes popping up at random around her and the normally warm and humid weather in a rainforest suddenly becoming cold??" Moon whispered back. "Do you think it has something to do with the mysterious symbols on her body?" Moon was beginning to panic not wanting Spirit to be injured by these weird coincidences.
Back at the house Qibli heard a startled yelp as a suddenly drenched Spirit ran in. "Woah! What happened to you Spirit?" Qibli asked. "I don't know." she responded but then they heard a mischievous female laughter. Qibli frowned for a moment before chuckling. "Kink-" before he could finish the name another bucket of water had suddenly been dumped on him. Kinkajou appeared, rolling on the floor laughing, her scales a mix of pink and yellow. Spirit gasped and lunged at her in a mock fight. "Betrayal to the sandwing friends!" she squealed as she tackled the rainwing. "Attack on Auntie Kinkajou!" The rainwing said in a playfully horror filled voice. She hugged her niece as they laughed together. "Is uncle Turtle here?" she asked after they calmed down. With Qibli shaking his head with a chuckle. "Turn around and find out." a voice from behind said she lunged and Turtle caught her in his arms laughing. "How's my favorite little goofball?" he said with a laugh. "Happy and healthy!" she said, climbing onto his head with a silly giggle.
"Who's ready for a picnic?" Moon said coming in with a chuckle at the scene as well as a basket of freshly picked and washed fruit. "I am! I am!" Spirit said excitedly attempting to fly again but falling instead. She popped right back up stating "I'm ok!" not losing her cheerful attitude for a moment.
Qibli, after making sure Spirit was ok, led the group to the picnic site. No more dd instances happened that day. But Moon told Qibli about them after Spirit was sound asleep, not wanting to worry Spirit about the occurrences. "There isn't much we can do about Moon, not until we can be absolutely sure it is the symbols on her causing them and even then I don't think we can do anything. The only thing we can do is try to help her either cope with these occurrences or, if she can control whatever it is, help her control it. Like you had to do with the thoughts of how you had a method of drowning them out." he said, placing a wing around her. She leaned onto him. "I know I just don't want her to get hurt." She said,
"And we will make sure she won't be."
A/N and there you have it folks, the first official chapter of my new series. I was hoping to get it out earlier but I had gotten busy helping my grandfather but don't worry he is doing great he just wanted me to help with some yard work.
