She's gone.

Rude. My girlfriend. And... she knew about it too. Why must this happen to me? Why do I have to go through this suffering? I'm alone. All alone...

I can't help it. The tears begin to bubble up, and I begin crying into my pillow. Then I heard a knock on the door.

"Hey... Icefang? Can I come in?" said a familiar voice. It was Lana, one of the students from the Pokemon School. What could she possibly want?

"(Sniff) Now's not a good time..." I responded.

"That's why i'm here. Please let me in..."

I trudge slowly to the front door, and there she was, standing in front of me. She was holding a small box wrapped in a pink ribbon.

"I... I heard what happened with your girlfriend... so I wanted to bring this to you."

"(Sniff) What... is that?..."

"You'll see, Icefang. I had to do a lot just to get this for you."

Lana walks inside with the box, and sits on my bed. She places a hand on my back.

"I knew Rude too, Icefang. I ran into her one day and we got along well. I was suprised to learn that you two had a relationship. I'm as sad as you are about her departure. That's why I brought you... this."

Lana hands me the box and smiles.

"Well? Open it!"

I slowly open the box. Inside it was a Poke Ball with a note attached to it.

"My dearest Icefang:

While my death was inevitable, I wanted to make sure you were not alone when I left you. Inside this ultra ball is a special pokemon. You told me you wanted to meet it for so long, even despite it's duties.. I confronted it, and made the wish for it to remain by your side, and watch over you. Then, I told Lana to give it to you once I passed. I want you to do me a favor and take care of it for me.

I love you, Icefang. I love you lots. And don't be sad. I'm always with you.

Love, Rude."

Lana turns to me. "I should get going... i'll leave you alone with your new pokemon. If you need me, just send me a call, k?"

"O-ok..."

Lana then left the house. There was just me... and the pokemon waiting inside the ball. There was one thing to do. I open the ball. There is a bright flash as it reveals none other than...

Tapu Lele. One of the Island Guardians.

My heart begins to race, as I grab her for a hug. My tears began to fall. Having known what happened, the death of my girlfriend, she embraced me tightly, giving me a gentle squeeze. She rubbed her hands around my back. I heard a voice in my head.

"Child..."

I could only assume that was her voice. Telepathy, if anything.

"Do not be afraid... I am here. I was told everything. Rude... she was a nice person. I liked her too."

"I- Lele- I just- I can't (sob) get over my loss- she- she was my everything... (sniff)

"I know how much you loved each other. Even I was hesitant to take up this task, but the other guardians supported me, and insisted I take care of you."

She rest her head against my forehead and closed her eyes.

"I may not be able to replace her... but I can fill in the emptiness inside you. Remember how much you wished to meet me, child?"

I let out a slow nod. My chest rises and falls with speed.

"I am here, child... you do not need to be stressed anymore."

I felt a psychic energy being projected into my mind. It was rather soothing.

"Does that feel good, child?"

"A... a bit... (sniff)"

The worst of my meltdown has come and gone. Good. I don't want to be sad anymore.

"Th-thank you..."

"Please... all I want for you is to feel safe. Take some deep breaths with me. In..."

I inhaled as deep as I could.

"...and out."

I was shaky and unstable, but I managed to exhale slowly. My head rests against her chest. I heard a warm and gentle heartbeat, like a soothing lullaby at night. It lulled me to sleep in her warm, loving arms. She held me while I slept. She brought me to my bed, and got in with me. Her arms moved so that they were around me. I let out a soft smile, knowing my sleep would be much more content.

"Sleep tight, child."
