Dan had always told his fans that he was straight. He told all of his friends that he was straight. Well, except for Runo. Runo was the only one who knew Dan was bi. And he was so accepting of him. He didn't treat him any differently than he would if he were straight. Dan loved how caring Runo was, even if they were arguing every other second. Everyone said they acted like an old married couple, and it was just a joke in the beginning.

Then, Dan actually started paying attention to the way that they acted around each other. They fought and they whined and demanded stuff from the other, and the other would eventually give in. Though Dan was the one that would do the most whining, and Runo would bend over backward to give Dan what he wanted.

It made Dan feel like bad actually cared about him, that's why he whined. He wanted Runo's constant attention, it made him happy that Runo constantly had him in his mind. But in turn, now Runo was constantly in Dan's mind.

Every time that Dan heard Runo tell him he loved him or give him a compliment he cherished it and practically begged for more. Honestly, Dan didn't even know Runo's sexuality. But he never really wanted to ask about it since, if he hadn't said it by now he wasn't going to pressure him into saying it.

Dan realized his feelings for Runo about a month before their bed wars match. Dan had been feeling extremely confident in himself after beating Runo thrice. They ended up quitting bed wars and were talking about whatever random thing popped into their heads. And of course, mixing confidence, Runo, and Dan's impulsiveness wasn't the best idea.

"You wanna know something Runo?" Dan asked.

"What is it, Dan?" Runo asked. Dan loved that voice, and it only fueled him to go on.

"I like you. Like, like you, like you." Dan said.

"You're joking, right?" Runo asked. Dan knew that he should have said yes and laughed it off. Played it as a joke and just left it at that. But he couldn't.

"Nope. I like you." Dan replied blankly. Every time he had to say it, it got harder. The lump in his throat got big but he swallowed it down.

"Dan this isn't funny." Runo argued.

'Back out. Go back. Go back.' Dan heard the voice of rationality whisper in his head. He ignored it.

"I'm not lying! I like you. More than a friend." Dan said. He had a serious tone, as serious as he could make his tone. He wanted Runo to believe him. He wanted Runo to take his words seriously for once.

Runo was silent for a second, waiting for any confirmation that Dan was joking. But nothing came.

He sighed, "I'm sorry, Dan. I don't feel the same."

Dan knew this would be the outcome, and he was disappointed. But his confidence didn't waver, he would make Runo fall in love with him sooner or later.

"That's okay, Runo. I didn't expect you to!" Dan said in an upbeat tone. The silence didn't last long as Runo immediately went back to telling another story. Dan was glad that there was no awkwardness between them and he could finally get his feelings off of his chest. He only halfway paid attention to the words coming out of his friend's mouth. He knew he would probably hear the story again anyways.

He ran around his server as he thought. Why he had confessed was beyond him, he didn't even know if Runo liked men. But even if his feelings weren't returned, their friendship didn't change at all.

Dan thought that after getting rejected, his feelings would eventually fade away. But they never did. Maybe because Runo hadn't changed a bit. He still said the same things that Dan fell in love with, he still dealt with all of his whining and complaining, they still fought like an old married couple, they were still best friends. He still laughed the same way that he always did, he still got 'jealous,' and he still loved Dan.

Even if that love would never go past friendliness, Dan still appreciated that he said it. During the first month after confessing Runo wouldn't say it. He knew that Runo was trying not to tease him, that was another thing Dan admired about Runo. He was always very considerate and he had never tried to say anything that could be taken the wrong way.

Dan didn't know why he thought that he had a chance with someone so great, compared to his annoying self. Dan did have confidence, so much that it was overwhelming. But he couldn't help but feel guilty for all the confidence he had. People like Runo needed the confidence and support so much more than him.

So, he wasn't self-conscious, he didn't think that he was below Runo, he just felt that Runo was above him. He deserved the world, he deserved so much more than he was given. He deserved so much more than Dan. So, he was content in getting rejected. Runo would find someone so much better.

And Runo would fall in love with someone who was so much better than he was. Right?

Dan thought about it every day, why Runo never talked about his relationships. Why Runo had never talked about his type or his interests with him. That's what best friends talk about with each other, so why didn't they? Dan knew why he didn't talk about his personal interest, mostly because his interest was a person nicknamed 'RunoBoyHalo.' But Runo had nothing to hide, unless he did. That gave Dan hope again, even though he knew it was wrong to hope.

It had now been three months since Dan had first confessed. Him and Runo had started to get closer than they were previously, the boundaries that they had put up to keep them friends slowly broke day after day as they started to act more like they were in a relationship. And this did not help either of the boys out with their clouded feelings.

Now, four months after the confession, Dan had gotten a text from Runo. 'Hey Dan, can we talk?'

Dan really didn't think much of it at the time and he replied 'yea.' His phone started ringing and he picked it up immediately. He looked at the time, it was eight pm, meaning it was around eleven pm over where Runo lived. Dan didn't question why Runo was up so late since he was probably playing Minecraft still.

"Hey Runo, what's up?" Dan asked.

"Oh, hi Dan." Runo said with exaggeration in his voice. It was like he was reading off a script.

Dan laughed, "what are you doing?"

"What do you mean? All I said was 'hi!'" Runo said in a weak yell.

"Why'd you say it so weirdly?" Dan asked.

"I did not say it 'weirdly.' I spoke perfectly normal." He argued.

Dan laughed again, "Okay, Runo. If that's what you call normal." Dan said.

"Yeah, I would call that normal, it was normal." Runo said.

"Sure Runo." Dan said and he heard Runo huff in annoyance.

"You know what? Never mind, I'm leaving." Runo said. Dan knew that he wasn't actually going to leave. He never did when he said he would.

"Goodnight Runo." He said.

Runo sputtered, "y-you're just going to let me leave?" There it was.

"Yeah, if you want to leave, you can leave." Dan said.

"You're not even a little bit curious about what I had to say?" Runo said, his voice weak. Dan hated that voice, Runo had used it a lot during roleplay on the Dream SMP.

"Okay, maybe I am a little curious." Dan replied with a chuckle. Runo didn't respond for a few seconds.

"You know what, maybe I don't want to say it." He said. Dan groaned, not really expecting Runo to just turn around like that.

"Just tell me. Why did you call me if you weren't actually going to say it?" Dan whined into the phone.

"It's nothing Dan, it's stupid. I shouldn't have called you." Runo said.

Dan groaned even more as he slid down his chair. "BaAaAAaaaaaAd! Tell MeeeEEEeeeE!" He hoped that his whining would help him like it had many times before.

"NO, I DON'T WANT TO ANYMORE!" Runo screamed as well. Soon it turned into a screaming contest.

"UUUGH YOU DO THIS EVERY TIME! JUST TELL ME!" Dan whined.

"Dan NO, I CAN'T SAY IT ANYMORE!" Runo yelled back.

"BUT WHHHYYY? YOU'RE THE ONE WHO MADE ME CURIOUS!" Dan argued.

"FINE! I LIKE YOU Dan!" Runo screamed.

"IF YOU LIKE ME THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST SAY THAT IN- wait what?" Dan was too in the mood to process what Runo had said.

"I like you, you muffin head." Runo admitted.

"Did you just call me a dumb ass?" Dan said, referring to the use of 'muffin head.'

"What no- Language! You know what, I'm actually going to leave this time." Runo said. Dan stayed silent. He had finally processed the words that Runo had said.

"Wait, you like me?" He asked.

"Goodnight Dan." Runo said.

"Wait Runo-" He was cut off by the sound of the call ending.

Dan stared at his phone for minutes after Runo had hung up. Maybe he was tired, it was really late at night for both of them. Dan definitely couldn't handle this right now, and he needed sleep before he even thought about talking to Runo about it.

But when his back touched the mattress, he felt everything but tired he just felt like going outside to yell out his confusion. And because he wanted to do it, he grabbed a hoodie and headed out his front door.

He really couldn't walk to his destination because of how far it was from his house, so he had to drive. But walking really wasn't the goal or purpose of him going out. He really just wanted to go to a place where he could be in private like his house wasn't private enough. He made it to the beach and got out of his car.

It was two am, he really shouldn't be out here at this time, he could even get fined. But he didn't think about getting caught at that moment, he only thought about being alone. He walked to the pier, and even though it was dangerous and a really stupid idea, he went under it. He was alone, it was kinda gross under there but Dan didn't mind at the moment.

Instead, he took in a breath and blew it out. Then he screamed, "WHAT THE FUCK?" It more of a statement than a question. Once he screamed that, he laughed at how stupid he would probably look under the pier screaming out curses.

He got out from under the pier and headed back to his car. The lower half of his legs were soaking from having to go through water to get under the pier. He really didn't think any of what he just did through. He laughed some more about his appearance and got back in his car; his seat now as wet as he was. He felt better due to the simple act, and he was able to sleep when he got home.

He woke up the next morning to his phone ringing. He picked it up and put the phone to his ear, "yeah?" The person on the other side didn't talk for a few seconds.

"Dan, I am so sorry about what happened yesterday, I shouldn't have said that." Runo said. Dan nodded his head, not really processing the words.

"Okay, Runo." Dan replied.

"You sound tired. Did I wake you up?" Runo asked.

"Yeah." Dan said with a yawn.

"Oh okay, I'll talk to you later. Get some sleep." Runo said. Dan nodded again and hung up the phone. The brightness of his screen hit his eyes, he looked at the screen. It was 12 pm. He sat up and got out of bed, he didn't need to sleep any more than he had. His feet hit the floor and he stood up, making him wake up a bit more. He walked out of his room and to the bathroom.

As soon as his feet hit the cold floor of his bathroom, he was suddenly aware of what had just happened. Runo had called him and apologized. Dan did his business in the bathroom and rushed back to his room, grabbing his phone as he flung himself onto the bed. He wanted to call Runo back right then, but he didn't want to rush it without thinking again.

He controlled himself and put his phone on his desk. He rolled back out of bed and onto his feet. He decided that he would have a clear mind after he made his bed, maybe cleaned his room, and ate breakfast. So, he ignored his phone the entire time, not letting any ping catch his attention. He made the bed and tidied his room up a bit before he got bored of cleaning and went to the kitchen. He just made cereal, not in the mood to actually cook anything that required any more effort.

He really just wanted to be done as soon as possible so that he could talk to Runo. But he had forgotten just how long it took to eat cereal. He groaned as he tried to shovel the food into his mouth but to no avail. Once he was finally finished, he put the bowl in the sink, not wanting to waste time washing it, and ran to his room.

He picked up his phone, letting the face id do its work, then he went to his recent calls and clicked on Runo's name. He waited for the phone to stop ringing and be replaced by the sound of Runo's voice.

"Dan?" Runo asked as he picked up the phone.

"Hey Runo about earl-" Dan started but he was cut off by Runo again.

"I'm streaming, Dan. Just wanted to let you know." Runo said. Dan almost froze, but he didn't since it would be weird to the viewers.

"Oh, I was just wondering when you were free to record. But I'll talk to you about it later. Bye Runo." Dan said.

"Bye Dan." Runo replied and Dan hung up. He shouldn't have waited to call Runo back. Damn it. He sat at his desk and turned Runo's stream on. He watched as he waited for Runo to end it.

After the stream had ended, Dan called Runo again.

"Hey Dan, about the recording times. We can record in an hour if you wa-"

"I didn't actually call you to ask about when we could record." Dan said.

"Then why'd you call me?" Runo asked.

"Last night you-"

"I don't want to talk about that anymore, Dan." Runo interrupted.

"What? You woke me up to apologize, I want to talk to you about it." Dan said. Runo was a confusing person sometimes, this was definitely one of them.

"It's fine, Dan. I said it when I wasn't thinking straight." Runo said. Dan laughed.

"I didn't mean it like that, Dan." Runo said.

"What if I told you that I liked you too?" Dan asked. Runo stayed silent. Dan took that as a 'go' to continue his antics. To push out whatever truth Runo had to hold from him.

"What if we both liked each other, Runo? What would happen?" Dan asked.

"I don't think anything would happen." Runo said plainly. Dan was at a loss for words.

"Dan, I apologized for last night because I said it without thinking first. I don't know if I really want to be in a relationship. And I said I was sorry because I made you expect a relationship." Runo said.

Oh. Yeah. Dan had forgotten that life isn't fair. Things can't just smoothly go his way. Of course, there always had to be something to stop him.

"Dan?" Runo asked.

"Oh yeah, I'm here. I was just joking about the liking-you-back thing, don't worry about it. So, I forgive you even if you have nothing to be sorry about." Dan said. Runo sighed.

"Wait, Dan you shouldn't joke like that!" Runo yelled.

"Sorry, I just wanted to see how you would react. It wasn't funny." Dan said.

"Anyways, you said in an hour?"

Throughout the recording, Dan saw the little hints that he had happened to miss beforehand. The giggles that happened after almost every joke that Dan made. The way he would get flustered when he received a nice comment by surprise. The way that Runo would whine for help even though he could obviously fix the problem himself. It was adorable to see how Runo acted when he had a crush. But Dan knew that he wasn't likely to date him soon.

With that said, he could easily get a fill-in to take his place for at least a month. Maybe then, Runo would get jealous enough to actually want a relationship with Dan. After all, he got jealous over the simplest of things. A major thing might actually bring him to the reality of it all. With that, he started his search for someone who could warm Runo's seat up.

There had been a ton of girls that he had swiped by on Tinder. Not one of them was his type. His type was Runo of course, but at least one girl had to be innocent and cute, right?

That's when luck struck him, a girl that was as cute as a button. She had blonde hair, most likely died that way since the roots were more of a brown color. Her hazel eyes looked like honey in the light of the sun that came through the window. Her cheeks glowed with the sparkle she put overtop of them. And of course, she wore a black sweater that looked like it was slightly big on her. Dan smiled and swiped, they matched.

Then, they started to have a conversation. She liked Minecraft, she was a streamer, she was kind. Dan might have slightly fallen for the woman, she was perfect. And her name suited her well; Heather. And over time, their relationship bloomed. He still left time for Runo, but now he had Heather. Heather was someone he could flirt with and not feel Runo about doing it. And she lived relatively close, so they were able to take pictures to post or just hang out with each other.

His feelings had slowly faded for Runo. It was the break that Dan needed. He couldn't let Runo have control over his heart like that. Just to dangle it in front of him and pierce through it with a pencil like it were paper. He had Heather. And that's all he needed. But just as he thought that things were going to stay good, they changed again.

The relationship lasted for around five months. And after spending that much time with a person, you start to notice their big flaws. So, Dan had simply lost feelings for her. And spending time with Runo became so much better than spending time with her. Yeah, she was nice, and she had a very bubbly personality. But every time they talked it was like she had gotten into a new kind of drama.

And after expressing to her many times that he doesn't want to get caught up in it, she still complains about her friends and rivals all day. And maybe Dan could have dealt with that. But she started to show signs of obsession with him. He had mentioned wanting to visit Runo once, and she had started to say how she would kill herself if he didn't take her with him.

He knew he had to break up with her before it had gotten deeper and he wasn't even allowed to leave the house alone. So, broke up with her. Plain and simple, he explained to his fans that he had just grown apart from her. No tears came from his eyes as she cried on stream, or complained in her posts about him. It was all bullshit.

She didn't like him, didn't respect his decisions or preferences. And she would just involve him in some new drama now that they were apart. He probably should have broken up with her earlier. But now that she was gone, he faced the problem that he was trying to avoid from the very beginning: Runo. Did he still like Dan through all of that? Probably not. But he had gotten Runo to like him once, so he could do it again.

And then again, he was on his little loop. He would like Runo, then he would confess to him. And that night is when he would do it. A week after breaking up with Heather and he really felt his absolute worst. He felt guilty for breaking up with such a sweet girl. He felt guilty for not crying with her. He felt like a Runo person for letting her suffer alone. For dumping her so harshly. Then, the screen of his phone beside him lit up. Runo really chose the wrong time to text him. All it took was a simple

"Hey, Dan. What's up?"

To fuck everything up again. He went to Runo's contact and clicked the call button. Oh how he regrets not just thinking about it and typing it out.

"You're always so nice to me, Runo. Why is that?" Dan asked.

"Of course, why wouldn't I be nice to you?" Runo asked.

"The question was why are you nice." Dan repeated.

"Well, I have no reason not to be nice. So I just am." Runo replied.

"But I always thought you had feelings for me." Dan said.

"No, I liked you one time, but that was a crush." Runo replied.

"But I've always had feelings for you." Dan replied.

"R-really? I thought you stopped." Runo said.

"You're such an amazing person I would do anything for. How could I stop liking you?" Dan said, but after getting no reaction from Runo, he continued.

"I know that's a stupid thing to say." Dan finished.

"Yeah, so don't be stupid!" Runo said. He really just wanted to get away from the topic. Dan had just gotten out of a relationship and was very emotionally vulnerable. That's why he was saying all this stuff.

"Give me a chance, I can make you happy." Dan said, slightly whining.

"Dan, you aren't thinking right. You just need to find someone else." Runo replied. Instantly regretting his choice of words. He was under pressure so his advice wasn't the best.

"You can be that someone else." Dan said.

"No Dan, I can't" Runo said.

"Why not? Please let me be with you." Dan said, whining more evident. Runo wondered if he was drunk.

"Dan, you know we can't date. Let's just forget about it." Runo said.

"Let me be your boyfriend." Dan demanded. Runo was a little scared by his tone.

"Dan, I told you I don't like you." Runo said. He desperately wanted to get out of the call. But something stopped him. He couldn't get himself to end the call.

"Don't lie, Runo. I know you love me." Dan said. Runo was even more scared. This wasn't Dan, it couldn't be. Dan would never make him feel like this.

"Dan, stop it. Please." Runo said, he felt small. Even if Dan wasn't there with him.

"What do I need to change?" Dan asked.

"You don't have to change anything. I don't want to date you." Runo said. He hated how harsh he was being, but he had to be harsh. He just wanted his Dan back, and this was the only way to get him.

"Please I need you." Dan pleaded. Runo knew the manipulative phrases. Dan would never manipulate him like this. He felt so pressured like he was being suffocated in quicksand. He felt like crying.

"But I don't need you." Runo said, voice cracking. He could hear the inhale taken by the boy on the other side. He shouldn't have said that. The tears started to flow out of his eyes.

"Runo? Oh my god. I'm so sorry. I don't know what got over me I- I have to go." Dan said. It was his Dan, the one that cared for him. Dan left the call without giving Runo a chance to speak.

"G-geppy." Runo softly said as he held his phone to his chest. He didn't want to believe that Dan said that and then just left him. Runo curled up in his chair. He wanted his Dan to be there with him.

They drifted apart for a bit. Runo tried to keep in contact with him, but Dan had never replied. Runo thought that Dan had just left him. For real, forever. He saw the pictures that he posted on private accounts that only his family and close friends saw. He saw the pictures of his real-life friends hanging out, of him having fun. Of him living his life without Runo. It was a terrible month.

A month of Dan doing everything without him, even making videos without him. Runo started to question if it was his fault that they were like this. Was he too harsh on him? He guessed that he was. After all, he would have been in a perfectly good and happy relationship with Dan. Right? He screwed everything up and now there was no way of turning it back. If Dan was going to ignore him, he had no way of explaining himself or his intentions. It was misery.

And just then, like a miracle, Dan had texted him again. A simple 'hey.' But even though it was simple, Runo smiled widely at the message. 'Hey, what's up?' Runo texted back. And that started their conversation. They caught up on what happened to each other in the past month. And when Runo brought up the thing that started their separation, Dan said he forgot about it.

Everything was back to normal the next day. It was like nothing had ever happened. They were making videos together and being the good friends that they were before. And again, because nothing had changed, the cycle continued. Runo would fall for Dan again, and Dan would already be over him. He sighed to himself as he thought about it. It was always the wrong time. He wished that they could just like each other now.

He believed that he was ready for a relationship, not like he hasn't been in one before. It was just a relationship with his best friend that he would have to be ready for. It was time, right? But he couldn't even get himself to see Dan in person. How was he going to date him? There was no way that he could even think about doing such a thing.

So, he said nothing, and his feelings fell again as Dan was dating another girl. It wasn't worth hanging onto anymore, so he let them go. That's how it worked. That's all Runo knew anymore. He was too focused on his relationship with Dan that he had missed what it was like actually loving and being with someone. And strangely, he didn't mind. He had Dan. And even if he was his best friend, that was enough.

And then Dan broke up with his girlfriend again. And came another concerning string of messages from him asking Runo to date him. Runo was confused beyond belief. Because of that, he didn't know what he should do. Dan was pleading for him to date him, to like him back. But Runo didn't know if he liked him.

He assumed that he liked him because he was acting the same that he's always been. But something was stopping him from saying that he liked Dan. Love was confusing. Especially when the person he loved was making him confused. Did he love him? He didn't know. He wanted to scream out his frustration, but he was too busy dealing with Dan.

"I don't know, Dan. Maybe some other time. Just not right now." Runo said.

"Oh, that's fine! I'll wait for you." Dan said. Runo was surprised to hear such a calm reaction. But after the shock, he felt worried. He felt worried that Dan would actually wait for him. Why was that a worry? He had to leave. He had to think. He said his goodbye and got out of the call.

And then the loop began again, Dan liked Runo but Runo didn't like Dan yet. This time though, Dan was going to wait for him. And wait he did. He waited for a while. A while until Runo rejected him again. But what was that rejection even worth? Dan knew that Runo would just end up falling for him again. But maybe there would be a different outcome this time. He always hoped.

Every time life gave him it, he took it. So, he didn't date anyone. And they got close again. They were back to being best friends, all feelings of love seemingly worn off. Neither of them thought that they liked the other in any romantic way anymore. Until they finally met up.

Dan walked up to the door at Runo's address and knocked on it. He waited a while until he heard footsteps approach the door, stop, then a lock turned to unlock. Runo looked down at him from the doorstep, it being lifted a little from the ground.

"Oh my goodness, Dan. Is it really you?" Runo asked through a half-opened door.

"Yes, Runo. It's me." Dan replied. Runo opened up the door eagerly and brought Dan into a hug.

"I thought I was never going to be able to see you." Runo said.

"What? You're the one who was always making up excuses." Dan said, hugging Runo back.

"No, you were the one complaining about, 'oh Runo I'm sick I can't come over.'" Runo said, stepping out of the hug.

"Okay, that was one time, you made excuses the other like, thirty times?" Dan said.

"You have not asked thirty times. And I wanted it to be perfect. I didn't want one of us to be sick and waste our time." Runo said.

"That wouldn't be a waste of time. We just wouldn't be able to do everything." Dan said.

"Exactly! That's why we both needed to be healthy." Runo said. Dan laughed, he didn't think that Runo would actually act the exact same in person.

"Okay Runo, can I come inside now?" Dan asked.

"Oh yeah." Runo said, stepping out of the doorway.

Even though Runo said that he wanted to do a lot, he didn't really have much planned. They spent most of their time on the ground beside Runo's bed, watching the tv that was on the other side.

"Do you want to sit on the bed?" Runo asked.

"No, I'm good right here." Dan said. Runo shrugged and continued to sit next to him. Dan saw an alligator plush the size of a body pillow and grabbed it, hugging it while he watched the movie. After a few minutes, he noticed that Runo wasn't looking at the tv. He turned to face him and saw that he was staring at the alligator.

"What's up Runo?" Dan asked.

"That's Allie." Runo said.

"Allie? You named it?" Dan asked.

"Well, yeah. I've had her since I was six. And that's the name I gave her." Runo said.

"And you still have it? Aw, that's cute." Dan said.

"Yeah, my parents tried to give it away but I wouldn't let it go." Runo said. Dan nodded, then he leaned his head on the alligator, using it as a pillow.

"I can imagine you cuddling it when you slept so that your parents don't take it away." Dan said. Runo smiled with embarrassment.

"I may or may not still do that." Runo said.

"Aw really? That's so cute." Dan said. He saw Runo's face flush more and then he realized what he had been saying. He brushed it off as another friendly joke. Runo turned back to normal, but it was hard to focus back on what they were watching.

"How big is your forehead?" Dan asked.

Runo turned to look at him with an eyebrow up, "what?"

"Yeah, like how big is your forehead? Your hair is always covering it." Dan said.

"I don't know, Dan. How big is yours?" Runo asked.

"What do you mean? You can see my forehead." Dan said.

"Well yeah, but how big is it?" Runo asked.

"I don't know, I haven't measured it." Dan said.

"Let me see." Runo said, bringing his hand up to touch Dan's forehead. Dan grabbed his hand.

"No, I asked first, let me see your forehead." Dan said reaching with his other hand to try and swipe the hair from Runo's forehead. Runo dodged the hand.

"No, let me measure your forehead!" Runo said as he tried to reach with his other hand. Dan dodged it and soon it became a battle to see who could touch the other's forehead, all while one of each hand's were clasped together. There was a lot of giggling at the silliness of the situation.

And Runo ended up winning in the end, straddling Dan beneath him. Their interlocked hands were at the right side of Dan's head on the ground while Runo's other hand was on Dan's forehead.

"Well Dan, You have a fourhead." Runo said, using his fingers as measurement. Just as Runo thought he won though, Dan used his free hand to wipe the hair from Runo's forehead and put his hand there.

"And you have a fivehead." Dan joked.

Runo gasped, "I do not have a fivehead. I have a fourhead." Dan laughed and took his hand away.

"Whatever you say, Runo." Dan said. Runo rolled his eyes and got off of Dan.

They spent the rest of their time together on the floor. Dan surprisingly fell asleep first, possibly because of the long trip there. And of course, he fell asleep on Runo's bed. Runo didn't know why, but he wished that Dan had stayed on the floor and fell asleep on his shoulder instead. Well, he knew why, but he didn't want to admit it. He yawned and stretched as he got up. Runo had told Dan where the spare bedroom was, but apparently, he didn't want to walk that far. But neither did Runo.

Instead, he laid down next to him. It was a big bed and they were just friends so it was fine. He fell asleep pretty quickly, but he kept waking up at night. He woke up every, what seemed to be, thirty minutes. And every time he did, he scootched closer to Dan.

Something in his mind told him that he should. That he should just grab him and cuddle with him. And in his sleepy state, the only thing holding him back was wanting to sleep. And eventually, he woke up, facing opposite of Dan.

He was a little disappointed in himself for not cuddling him, but also in the fact that he wanted to. He got out of his bed and went to the kitchen to start breakfast. Dan came soon after and they both sat at the table and ate the food that Runo made.

"You fell asleep in the same bed as me?" Dan asked.

Runo nodded, "yeah, it's my bed."

Dan giggled, "you know you wrapped your arm around me in the middle of the night?"

Runo choked, "I did? Oh my goodness I am so sorry. I think I'm too used to sleeping with Allie."

"Oh no, it's fine. I was the one in your bed." Dan said. Runo still flushed with embarrassment.

The next few days were filled with the same nonsense. But it was fun nonsense. Eventually, Dan did have to leave again. And that's when the cycle continued.

Now that Dan was gone, Runo liked him again. He missed the time that they spent with each other in person. And he wanted it to happen again. Multiple times. He wanted to be with Dan. To have him every day.

But, Dan didn't feel the same.

Runo and Dan didn't know how long the cycle would go on for, but they both hoped it would stop. They hoped that they could stop playing with each other's emotions. That they could either stay friends or that they could be lovers.

But that time would seemingly never come. And they become wrapped up in that twisted and cruel whirlwind of fate. It was sad, but it was what was meant to be. They were always meant to be in love at the wrong time.

That was fate.
