A/N: I got the idea for this one-shot last week when I was in the shower and thinking of the song "Doctor's Orders" by Carol Douglas. I didn't have any time to get it written and submitted for last Friday, so here it is now. Enjoy!

It was a bright, sunny day in Paris, but Adrien Agreste's mood was anything but sunny as he poked at his lunch with his fork, and his best bud Nino Lahiffe took notice of it:

"Yo Adrien, you're treatin' your food like it's radioactive. Care to spill the tea on what's eatin' ya?"

Adrien put down his fork. "It's Marinette. Her and Luka had a big fight recently and they're not speaking to each other."

"Whoa, tough! Never expected those two to start beefin' with each other."

Adrien shook his head. "Neither did I. What really bothers me is that for the first time in her life, Marinette seemed much happier being with him than she did trying to go after me."

Nino adjusted his glasses. "Ya know, for someone who's 'just a friend', her happiness sure means a lot to ya."

Adrien extended a hand outwards. "Sure, Marinette may only be a friend, but she was the first real friend – well, aside from you – that I made here, and whenever she's unhappy, it makes me feel unhappy."

Nino put a hand on Adrien's shoulder. "Listen, my man, I don't know how ya feel, but if ya ever need anything from me, I got your back."

Adrien averted his gaze. "Actually, I had an idea…"

Nino smiled. "Lay it on me!"

Adrien looked back over at Nino. "You're supposed to be DJing for the party on Saturday night, right?"

"Yeah, so?"

"I heard Marinette and Luka are supposed to be there, so do me a favor: please play this record…"

Adrien pulled out a 7" single from his bag, which Nino inspected. It was a copy of "Doctor's Orders" by Carol Douglas, featuring "Baby Don't Let This Good Love Die" on the B-side.

"Cool," said Nino. "Which side ya want me to play?"

"Definitely 'Doctor's Orders'. Play it and you'll understand why."

Nino gave a thumbs up. "Gotcha!"

A couple days later, at Nino's place, the party was in full swing as guests ate, drank, danced and generally tore it up to the sounds of "New World Order" by Mr. X and Mr. Y. However, it was clear that not everybody was having such a jolly time:

"Why did I go to this party again?" said Marinette Dupain-Cheng.

"Girl, do you wanna get your life back together or what?" said Alya Césaire.

Marinette nodded weakly. "Well yeah, but…"

Alya put her fists on her hips. "But what? Just because your man might be here don't mean that you can't have fun like the rest of us!"

"And that's the problem! I still can't face Luka after what we went through!"

"How do ya know that? Maybe he's cooled down enough that he's sorry about what happened."

"Alya's right, you know," said Tikki. "You shouldn't let the possibility of Luka being at this party ruin the whole thing for you."

Marinette sighed. "I know, but…" She clenched her fists. "OK, I'll try to have fun, but no promises!"

Alya smiled. "Hey, tryin' is better than not tryin'!"

Marinette wasn't the only one fretting over the party, though:

"Juleka, why did you make me come to this thing again?" asked Luka Couffaine. "You know Marinette might be here!"

"Hey, I'm more uncomfortable with this than you are!" said Juleka Couffaine. "You have no right to complain!"

"But you're not the one who got in a fight with their significant other, either."

"Yeah? So?"

Juleka glared at Luka. As cool as he fancied himself, he broke down sighing.

"All right, I'll try to have fun at this party, but the minute I become uncomfortable, I'm leaving, OK?"

"Not without me!"

Despite his worries, Luka did his best to groove to the music, and Sass encouraged him:

"That's the spirit! Don't let the blues get you down! Put some rhythm into it!"

Speaking of dancing, Marinette was doing her best to have fun as well when a funky guitar melody kicked in. As it turned out, Nino had started spinning "Doctor's Orders". At first, the pigtailed blunette treated it like any other disco song, but when Carol Douglas' spoken word intro about missing her man kicked in, the song really began to resonate with her. As the song went on, she began to realize just how much she really missed Luka and how badly she wanted to get back together with him. She figured that maybe, just maybe, that Alya was right and that he wanted to get back together, too

Similarly, when Luka heard the lyrics to "Doctor's Orders", he couldn't help but feel bad about fighting with Marinette and wondered if she'd ever take him back. As the song went on, a feeling of hope built up inside him, feeling that maybe, just maybe, she still wanted him after all this time. As he danced, he found himself magnetically drawn across the dance floor, as if the music was calling him. He couldn't explain it, but at the same time, he didn't want to fight it, either. Finally, after boogieing across the floor so long, he bumped into somebody, a familiar somebody, too:

"Oh uh…hey Marinette!" Luka rubbed the back of his head.

Marinette averted her gaze. "H-hey Luka!"

There was a brief pause between the two.

"So…wanna dance?" asked Luka.

Marinette nodded weakly. "Y-yeah!"

Luka and Marinette took each other's hands, and they began moving to the music. At first, they couldn't get over that awkward feeling of knowing that they'd just recently fought with each other, but as the song went on, this feeling dissipated, to be replaced by feelings of love and happiness, happiness about knowing that both of them still truly loved one another and were willing to give each other a second chance. As these feelings intensified, so did their moves, getting to the point where they'd felt more alive than ever before. In this moment, nothing else mattered except them. Nino took notice of the whole scene and gave a thumbs up. Adrien couldn't help but shed a couple of tears at the whole thing, which Plagg took notice of:

"Hey, why so sappy, Kid Cat?"

"I'm sorry, it's just…I feel like the best person in the world right now!"

Plagg merely shrugged. Meanwhile, Kagami Tsurugi wrapped an arm around Adrien and smiled as she beheld the whole scene of Luka and Marinette making up with each other.

Nino took over the rest of the night with classics such as "Deliverance" by Space, "(I Lost My Heart to a) Starship Trooper" by Sarah Brightman and "Helplessly" by Moment of Truth. By the time the party was done with, pretty much everyone was going home happy, but perhaps none more so than Marinette and Luka:

"Marinette, I'm sorry I got angry and insulted you. I feel like such a terrible person."

"Actually, Luka, I played an equal part in the fight, so I should be sorry as well."

"And I forgive you."

"As do I. Please, promise me one thing, though…"

"Anything!"

"Even if we have another fight, let our love shine strongly enough that we can work through anything."

Luka gave a thumbs up. "I promise!"

"Oh, Luka!"

Marinette wrapped an arm around Luka and rested her head on his shoulder. Even if their relationship wasn't totally perfect, the fact that they'd been willing to give each other a chance spoke more volumes than all the encyclopedias in the world.

Criticism is gold. Negativity and nitpicking are pyrite.
