Keifer Stars:
A New Universe!

Howdy to everyone who decided to click on this to read it! This is an A.U of Steven Universe and I guess sorta self-insert-ish? The main character has my name but I don't see that as ME if that makes sense? (Never been good at naming characters and don't worry; I'm not one of those people who disassociates reality from fiction; I like to believe that I'm… relatively normal haha.)

There was Pink Diamond and her Pearl… and her close friend Kyanite, assigned to her directly by Blue. Both were bored and miserable with Diamond Duties and couldn't stand to see the Earth being hurt… so what if they rebelled together?

And what if Kyanite had the same idea as Rose Quartz; to have a human child? A child who'd be looked after by her friends until the day that Universe and Stars meet, changing the course of the universe!

Just how different are things gonna get? Well… you'll see!

Chapter 1: Feelings

6 P.M to 2 A.M. Stand at the counter, try and not look tired as hell when someone came to buy gas, drink or food, especially with the stragglers who used the drive through section.

Max couldn't complain about that bit at least; it meant he got to walk around a bit and make sure his body had some kind of blood flow. Did he hate his job? He wouldn't say that he did; more like… he just felt like there was nothing happening with his life now. Here he was, just barely breaking 21. Instead of being a young adult with wild friends he just… was working. In a drive-through gas station.

"Y'know… least it's nice. That never changes." Max wanted more from his life, but with his current hours and saving money to one day explore the world… his dream was on hold. He didn't really have many bills perse; just a phone and… living out of his truck. What? He was saving to explore the world and he got a good shower down in Beach City. All the places he'd go see-

CRACKARACKSMASH! If Max's heart could've jumped out of his chest it would've practically barrel-rolled out.

"Probably just… a raccoon again." He chuckled, failing to steel his nerves. Stepping out from behind the counter, Max walked into the drive through section of the Gas Station and immediately realized that if this was a raccoon, then it was a super-powered one.

An entire drink case was SHATTERED. Broken to pieces, looking like it had been… crashed into? He wasn't sure how to describe it, but the mixture of glass shards and soda spilt on the ground was concerning. "Alright you teenage punks, just come help me clean this up and I won't call the cops." Max called out to what he assumed might've just been the standard drunk teenagers, but he wasn't expecting a growl.

"Hrghghgghghhh…." The young adult's entire body practically froze as someone… no, something started to walk back into view. Its' steps shook the shards of glass on the floor and disturbed the unmoving beverage liquid. Max's heart, now instead of trying to jump out of his chest… sunk straight to the pit of his stomach.

A MONSTER, an actual, living, breathing monster was there at the exit. Its' mouth was spiky, almost like the two jagged horns protruding from where its eyes should've been that were covered in brown and red blotches that spread across its entire bestial-shaped body.

"H… hi?" It came out of Max unwillingly, and Max almost instantly regretted it.

"ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHH!" The monster's roar knocked Max on his butt and the man started screaming for his life as he scrambled back to his feet, running out as the monster roared again, trying to claw at him as its' head thrashed around the exit part of the drive through gas station, tearing a section of the roof off.

"Ohhh…. Hunter isn't gonna like that." Max knew this gas station was his boss's pride and joy practically. So seeing half the roof off the drive through part of the gas station… "Forget that – he's not gonna like if there's a death on the premises!"

"RAAAAAAAAAGH!" The monster leapt over the top of the drivethru, its' hind legs coming down on top of the entrance, causing even MORE property damage and only cranking Max's fear up even more.

If he kept walking back, he'd be back-to-back with the two gas pumps in front of the gas station and given the monster's current lack of care… he didn't want to go up in an explosion of fire. Not the way he wanted to go out. But if he went forward, that'd close the ever-shrinking gap between him and the weird monster, and going left or right… he wasn't outrunning it, despite being somewhere between fit and not fit; some weight that was muscle, but barely qualified as a good weight, being slightly under.

"I need a miracle… HELP!" Max hollered as the monster roared and stomped the ground again, knocking him to his butt once more. It raised a claw to slash him…!

"NOT… TODAY!" Something flew up from behind the monster and wrapped around the claw arm that was about to strike Max, yanking it back and almost comically making the monster smack itself in the face.

"Signal Readings correct; this is the exact monster that escaped Morganite and I 2 Moon Cycles ago in the North Kyanite!" Another voice shouted out that didn't sound as strained as the first.

"Then let's not mess up this time; HEYA!" A third voice yelled and Max had to do a double take as someone; a short and weirdly pink someone leapt onto the Monster's back, pink and white electricity suddenly sparking through the monster and causing it to roar as it reared and bucked its' hips.

"MOOOORRRRGANNNNIIIIITEEEEE!" Max watched as another oddly Pink person; the one who had saved his life, still holding onto whatever was wrapped around the monster's claw was flying about, being dragged by the wild monster.

"Are you okay?" His eyes were dragged from what looked like a scene straight out of a Saturday morning cartoon as someone was now next to him. Max looked up to her and had to stop and do a genuine double-take.

She definitely stood taller than him; maybe only by a head and a half, but still. That wasn't necessarily what got Max; it was her light blue skin color and the almost medieval-style battle dress she wore with a star-insignia located just above the slight spot on her chest that was exposed, and Max could've sworn that there was what looked like some kind of… gemstone poking out from under her outfit. "Oh no! Did it break you?"

"Wh.. wha…?" He realized he'd been staring. "Oh! No, sorry! I was just… what even IS that thing?!" His attention got dragged to the monster again as it suddenly slammed into the side of the drivethru again. "OH COME ON!"

"It's a Corrupted Quartz – just a second!" The blue lady moved with impossible speed, and seemingly out of thin light or nowhere, a freaking sword materialized in her hands as the small girl on top – Morganite? Got ahold of the beast finally and a beam of light suddenly shot at and seemingly suspended the monster.

"Now Kyanite!" That voice earlier that had addressed Kyanite first hollered out and Max watched as the blue woman brought her sword down on the monster with an overhead jump and downward thrust. He thought there'd be blood and guts spewing everywhere but… it just poofed. A cloud of light red smoke fwooshed out and a gemstone clattered to the ground. He didn't get a look at it as the smaller girl that had been on top of it landed on her stomach in front of it and held it before… okay did she just summon a bubble with her hands and magic it away?!

"Finally got her." He finally saw the girl who saved him; she was a little shorter than Kyanite, but was almost as pink as 'Morganite'. She had what looked like pink slide-on ballroom shoes, pink lace socks that went just slightly above the knee, and her mid-section was open and as pale as her slightly exposed legs and arms, with a pink top that also had a star insignia. She had two buns holding her hair up and akin to Kyanite, there was a flipping gemstone embedded into her, only it was in her navel.

"And we all came out of this unharmed; you luckily weren't even poofed this time, Morganite!" The last one he hadn't seen before the monster's 'death', Max could finally see; she was just a hair taller than the taller pinkette, but instead of blue or pink, she was a mix of green, yellow and black. Her hair went up in an almost teardrop shape, half green-and-black, with her eyes and a visor guarding them a yellow color. A gemstone was on the side of them – presumably embedded into her as well. If it weren't for the green top-piece she had on, Max would've thought she was trying to be fancy with her black attire from the top down to her right leg.

"Cut me some slack Peridot, I ain't changing how scrappy I am!" Morganite spoke up. She was the shortest of the group for sure, but Max definitely didn't want to be on the receiving end of her electricity. Her pink combat boots went up into her battle dress that was pink with a similar star insignia to her friends. Her hair was the wild part, though; even with two braids it came down to the ground and she honestly looked like a crazy little gremlin.

And then, a burst of fire rose from some of the property damage the monster had done, as if to be the metaphorical cherry on top to Max witnessing what, less than 10 minutes ago, he would've thought was just fiction.

"T… thanks?" Max spoke up after all eyes had been on him for an awkward amount of time. "Oh shoot, the drivethru!"

"Hold on, we've got it!" Max watched, completely awestruck as he watched Kyanite casually lift the entrance and exit to the drivethru gas station back up and unbend it just fine like it was paper! 'Peridot' also put the flames out while Pearl and Morganite looked at Max.

"Been a while since we've seen another human!" Morganite suddenly ran up to Max and looked over him. "Are you one of those ones that doesn't shovel food into their mouth endlessly?"

"Morganite, that's not nice!" Pearl softly chided her as she walked up. "Let me properly introduce ourselves; I'm Pearl." She did a cute little curtesy bow. "And this is Morganite." She gestured to the smaller gem who jokingly waved. "I can't imagine how confused you must be right now; every human we run into is." She chuckled and all Max could do is nod slowly.

"I am… extremely confused." Max chuckled hoarsely, Peridot and Kyanite walking up a few moments later, with the only now visible damage to the Drivethru part of the gas station being the slashed-up paint, a burn mark on the floor and the still shattered drink case.

"Your… odd dwelling has been repaired, save for the glass shards on the ground." Peridot spoke to him and at this point, he didn't question the Holo-Screen that popped up in front of Peridot. "And according to my notes, you don't have any physical injuries." She quipped after looking over him. "I'd consider this a total success!"

"It was Peridot." Kyanite smiled to her and got her and Morganite to settle down a little before looking back to Max. "You're okay, right?"

"Physically? Sure. But… can someone explain to me… everything I just saw?"

Over the course of the next couple of hours, Max got a very… cliff notes version of what the four magical ladies were up to.

"So… lemme get this straight. You're globe-trotting magical ladies from outer-space who hunt down these monsters, beat em' and… then what?" He looked around them. "From the sounds of it you don't have a monster every day."

"Well, I like to starg-" Pearl was cut off by Morganite.

"You humans made the greatest thing ever; relaxing." Morganite flashed him a grin. "Nothing wrong with sitting in a tree all day."

"I just update and look through my data or document more of the many things humanity has to offer." Peridot spoke in a simple tone.

"In our downtime, we just do our own thing. That's the beauty of Earth; when we aren't chasing down our next monster, we get to do what we want and be who we want."

"Must be nice." Max chuckled a little as his shift got closer to ending; it was almost 2 A.M.

"What do you do, Max?" Kyanite sounded genuinely interested in what he had to say.

"Well… I sorta work here." He gestured to the gas station and figured that'd be it.

"Well, what does that consist of?" Again, Kyanite sounded genuinely interested, and over the next few minutes Max sort of explained his job to them. It's not like it was anything special; sometimes if someone came through the drivethru and what they wanted wasn't right out there, he had to duck back in the store and the most 'eventful' things was cleaning the bathroom and wiping dust down, yet based on Kyantie's face, you'd have thought he just described the plot of an awesome movie.

"So that means you've got SNACKS!" Morganite greedily rubbed her hands together and excitedly went to run into the gas station, only for Pearl to stop her with one hand. "Lemme through, lemme through!"

"Morganite, those things cost human currency!" Pearl looked to Max apologetically, trying to stop the smaller pinkette from running into the store.

"She can get a snack or two on me – it's fine!" Max quickly reassured, Morganite whooping as she ran into the building.

"You didn't have to do that; you must be a really nice person." Kyanite spoke in that soft tone once more that made Max's mind practically feel like mush.

"Heh… it's nothing. You guys sorta saved my skin so least I can do is spare a few snacks." He chuckled as the realization he was talking to space aliens slowly, slowly started to feel less absurd.

"Thank you Mister Max!" A few moments later the adult was suddenly spun around like a top as Morganite thundered back out, arm loaded with snacks and beverages, a donut jammed halfway into her mouth. Pearl was about to tell her off for getting so much, but Max gave her a 'seriously, it's okay' look.

"Well, if we're done here, we can be out of your way." Peridot spoke in a cool tone. Then it clicked with Max; if they were leaving, would he ever see them again!? He almost didn't get a chance to ask as everyone except Kyanite leapt away at an extreme height and speed.

"Hey, wait!" He managed to get the words out before Kyanite could follow her friends. "Will we uh… see each other again?" He hoped it didn't sound bad, but tonight had been the first interesting night of his life in… well, who knows how long. Suuuuure, he almost got slashed up by a monster, but who was paying attention to that when Max had just met 4 magical ladies that defied multiple laws of physics?

"That depends." Kyanite tapped her chin in thought. "We aren't very far from here and I'd like to hear more of your stories." She showed him a small smile.

"Well, hey; I'm here almost every day at night – you and your friends can come visit whenever." Max gave a small smile of his own, and as Kyanite turned…

"I'd like that." With that, she shot up into the night with her friends, leaving Max standing there in awe for several moments…

"I should probably get all that paid for."

Turns out, it wasn't too hard to explain a rampaging feral beast to your boss when not only was he one of your only friends, but you managed to clean most the mess up and there were no security cameras.

"Some rowdy teens came in while I was cleaning the bathroom. Did my best to clean the case up but…" Max gestured at it. He had cleaned all the glass shards up and had just finished mopping right before Hunter pulled up in his own car.

"Eh, I can just have a new one in by later this afternoon." Hunter waved it off with a smile, and Max knew he wasn't kidding; Hunter had STACKS of cash; Max was pretty darn sure he only bought the gas station for FUN because Hunter went there a TON as a kid. He and his wife were serious breadwinners. And well… Max couldn't complain about the hourly he was getting paid. "That paint though… wonder what kind of rake they had to use to do that!"

That had been a little harder to explain, but again; Max had been 'cleaning the bathroom really good'.

"Well, hey; now I know to not clean the bathroom around 12:30 A.M!" The two young adults laughed. "My shift over now Bossman?"

"Yup. See you later Max." Hunter waved the adult goodbye as he walked out to and got into his truck. Again, it was nothing too fancy; one bench small red pickup that did pretty darn well on gas. The seats could lay down though and curling up on them was Max's bed.

He opted to drive the couple of miles though, up and down the hill towards a rest stop just outside of Beach City; he'd been pranked by teens once before sleeping outside in his truck at the gas station… never again. Before going to sleep, however… Max looked at himself in the rearview mirror.

His messy, almost spikey brown hair hadn't changed; he'd grown it out a bit now, sure; but that didn't change. He had crystal green eyes and while there were small exhaustion bags under them, he remained in relatively good health.

And as Max fell asleep, one thought rang around his mind constantly.

"Kyanite… can't wait to see you again."

Max wasn't sure how soon he'd see Kyanite again; if at all. A small part of him thought that it was all a dream; what with the drink case being fully replaced and restocked, the paint looking good as new on the drivethru and no surveillance cameras to back him up…

It was the night after; his shift was just about over and he was restocking the snack cakes rack; a small family group had come in earlier and almost cleared house on it when he heard the doorbell.

"If you need something, just holler; I'm restocking!" He politely called out as he was continued working. He heard a snicker and before a certain someone could chide her…

"You asked for it… HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII MAXXXXXXXXXX!" He could've sworn he felt wind with how loud the shout was and how suddenly Morganite suddenly stood there with a big grin on her face, this time accompanied by Peridot, the green space lady sighing, but trying to not smile at Max's bewildered expression. "Whatcha doin?"

"Just uh… restocking?" He shrugged as Morganite looked at all of the packaged goodies.

"Let me help you." Max almost had a mini heart-attack when a tractor beam came from Peridot's wrist and, with one cursory glance at the shelf the human had been restocking, she did it 10x faster in maybe a couple of seconds. "Humans seriously need to adapt their tech more so you aren't shoving your knees into the ground constantly and eroding your skeleton."

"Haha… thanks." Max offered her a handshake, but she looked at him slightly confused. "Oh, do you… not know what a handshake is?"

"Oh! My apologies. Human greetings have changed so much that I couldn't tell which one you were using." She gave him a firm handshake and for a moment Max thought she was going to break his hand. "Right, humans are frail." She noticed when his face scrunched up. "Is there anything else you need to 'restock'?"

"That… was actually the last of it. My shift is almost over." The young adult explained as Morganite suddenly took a package of pink Snoballs into her hands.

"Hey Max! How much of this green stuff do I gotta give you for one of these?" He was genuinely surprised when he saw the smaller pink gem wave a wad of bills in front of him.

"Hey! I told you that I'd be hanging onto that Morganite!" When Peridot went to reach for it, Morganite held her back.

"I don't see you getting food!" She teased, Peridot huffing and quickly offering up an explanation when Max looked confused.

"We keep all forms of human currency if, for whatever reason an emergency arises where we need it or… in the case of Morganite, when she wants to eat." Max nodded slowly; he remembered last night that Kyanite said 'gems' technically didn't need to eat, but could if they so chose to.

"Well, lemme ring you up Morganite." Max led them to the counter and after a quick exchange, this time the childish gem had been the one to pay for her snacks, and with how she was looking at it, Max was surprised that she had bothered taking the plastic off before absolutely devouring the processed delicacy.

"We also came to extend an invite to you! Morganite said it's only fair that we show you our 'home' as you showed us yours last night." Peridot spoke in a cool tone. Max was about to say that the gas station wasn't his home, but he certainly wasn't about to pass up an excuse to see Kyanite again.

"I think Kyky likes you!" Morganite teased and both Peridot and Max went red in the face.

"Th… that's preposterous Morganite! Why I oughta blast you!" She then reeled herself in. "But, yes; Kyanite did express interest in seeing you, so if you would like, we can guide you to our dwelling."

"I'm off of work in a couple of minutes, so… sure!"

Max was surprised that Hunter didn't question the two human-looking multi-colored aliens at shift change; then again, it was past 2 A.M and they sometimes got some seriously weird weirdos.

"Let me get my truck started and uh… do you want to jump in the cab and lead me that way?" Max wasn't sure if they were gonna try and jump with him in their arms; he didn't want to feel his stomach move at terminal velocity.

"I suppose that would be optimal. Very well." Morganite snickered at Peridot's wording as they got into Max's truck.

"Hey, if this is anything like our old dropship, it means we don't have to walk or jump!" The small gem put her short legs up on the dash, just barely reaching and getting a groan from Peridot, but a chuckle from Max.

"Just that way." Peridot pointed towards the stretch of road going away from Beach City, which wasn't bad, just… Max didn't go out that way all too often. He nodded and started driving until they reached the first fourway with the stoplight.

"Go left – just down to the beach." Peridot explained as the light turned green. Following her instructions, Max soon found himself down at a boat ramp and the much smaller beachfront than what Beach City had. Pulling off to the side with more than plenty of distance between himself and the water, he stopped his truck and the three got out. "Just follow us."

The three sat off down the short beach until they reached a decent sized overhang from one of the hills above; some stones were pointing down from it, but a few things caught Max's eyesight.

First, was the massive, crystal pad sitting in the ground perfectly round. Second were the dozens of multi-colored bubbles floating up around the underside of the overhang. But more importantly.

"Max!" Kyanite quickly walked up to him. He had seen Pearl sitting under a tree just near where grass gave way to sand and she gave him a kind wave before returning to a book she was reading. "Did Peridot and Morganite give you any trouble?"

"Wh… me? Give trouble!? Morganite was the one who shouted the second we stepped in!" Peridot grew flustered and Kyanite giggled as Morganite elbowed Peridot.

"Guilty as charged!" She grinned. "And now…" She walked over to the same large tree that Pearl was sitting under, suddenly scurrying up into one of the larger branches, laying against it. "Nap time." Max chuckled at the sight of it.

"They were fine." He managed to speak, once again finding himself just staring at Kyanite. Max couldn't get over her looks; yes, he'd seen plenty of women and men and in-between in his life, but he'd never been so… enamored. Kyanite found herself in a similar boat as she looked at the young human in front of her; the way his hair spiked and the color of his eyes, and his personality…

"So… this is your home?" Max managed to speak finally, seeing where Peridot had ended up; sitting on the big crystal pad doing something on her holographic screen.

"Yes. This is where we rest between missions. Pearl enjoys reading human literature and listening to music. As you heard Morganite say, she enjoys sleeping and napping, but also being extremely rowdy at times. Nd peridot keeps logs on every corrupted gem or artifact we find and continuously updates her databanks with Earth's ever-growing knowledge!" The space lady grinned after she finished explaining all of that to him.

"Well, what do you do in your free time Kyanite?" Max popped the question as speaking with her very slowly started to become more natural. She seemed in thought for a moment before gesturing for Max to follow her. After a couple minutes of walking, they were resting on top of the hill that overhung all those bubbles, getting a perfect view of the ocean, moon and the starry night sky.

The two sat there in silence for a few moments, just basking in the view together.

"It's beautiful. This entire planet… it's wonderful. No other planet I ever saw was this beautiful. And now, myself and my friends fight to protect it." Kyanite spoke in a soft, yet emotional tone.

"Wow…" Max was taken away by her words. If he hadn't been almost turned into chop sui the night prior by a monster, who he was saved from by 4 magical space ladies… he wouldn't have believed it. But now, here he was, sitting next to one of them and feeling all fuzzy inside.

And the two sat there, just enjoying the view, unsure of what else to talk about…

"Wake up call!" His eyes flew wide open as he heard a shout, and then the sudden shaking of his truck. Way too much tried to fly through Max's mind as his eyes tried to adjust to the morning sunlight; how did he get into his truck, where was he and where was Kyanite? Had that all been some kind of wild, lucid dream?

"Easy Morganite; you might break his truck!" That was their voices; that was Morganite and Pearl waiting for him outside of his truck. Finally coming to, Max finally realized and accepted it.

This is real.

He had met 4 magical space ladies thousands of years old, and he was crushing on one of them.

"Alright… here we go."
