Oneshot 7 title: Spencer's migraine (Criminal Minds)

Oneshot 7 summary: Spencer has a migraine and his team help him out.

Spencer Reid is prone to having migraines, but never this bad and never in front of people, especially not in front of his team, apart from Elle who's gone. The headache begins first: it's a throbbing pain in his skull, then comes the sensitivity to the lights on the jet, then the stress of the case hits him all at once, causing him to whimper and curl up on the couch he's called 'dibs on' as Morgan calls it but he was on the jet first and he felt like sitting on the couch so he did. Reid screws his eyes shut, hoping the blackness behind his eyes will help alleviate the pain he's currently feeling. It doesn't and another pained whimper escapes him. He wishes he was back home, in his apartment, in bed with the curtains closed and falling into a deep sleep until the migraine is gone but no, he's on a jet plane with his team surrounding.

"Reid?" A familiar voice comes, Reid opens his eyes and sees Morgan kneeling in front of the couch, looking at Reid, concern in his eyes. "Reid, what's wrong?" Morgan asks gently, Reid whimpers and shakes his head. He can't tell his team about his migraines. He can't seem weak in front of them. He can't be weak because they'll kick him off the team.

"Spence, talk to us, what's wrong?" Only one person calls him Spence and that's JJ. JJ is beside Morgan, her hand on his knee with Emily beside her and Hotch and Rossi looking at them from the chairs, ready to help if it's needed.

Knowing that his team won't let this go, he decides to just tell them, accepting any outcome for them they choose.

"I get really bad migraines, this one is really bad." He gets out before screwing his eyes shut. Emily's hand comes up to his hair and her fingers start scratching his scalp soothingly.

"Reid, did anyone else know about your migraines?" Morgan asks his brother, Reid nods his head, practically purring as Emily scratches his scalp. "Elle knew, Elle helped me when she could." Reid says quietly. He hears someone getting up.

"Pretty boy, what can we do?" Morgan asks him, his voice even softer than before. Reid sighs and closes his eyes.

"Lights." He mutters before hearing the light switch. He opens his eyes to see the entire jet submerged in darkness save for the laptop which is being turned down to its lowest setting without going completely black. "Okay, what else helps, Spence?" JJ asks softly.

"Scratching my scalp is helping." He says, giving Emily a smile which she returns. "And sleeping helps too." He says as his eyes droop. He feels a blanket being tucked around him as he falls asleep, surrounded by his team.

The BAU Team watches as their youngest member falls asleep, a pained expression on his face. They never knew that he got migraines and hate seeing him in pain.

Derek Morgan keeps an eye on his little brother. He feels like he failed his brother for not knowing about his migraines. He's meant to protect and take care of his siblings, not be in the dark about when they're sick. He smiles when he sees Emily's fingers still scratching Reid's scalp. JJ is sitting with Hotch and Rossi, telling them what is wrong with Reid.

"How did we not know about his migraines?" Prentiss asks Morgan in a whisper, still kneeling in front of the couch, her fingers in Reid's hair. Morgan sighs. "Reid is good about hiding his pain." Morgan tells Emily. Emily nods.

"He needs to learn that we're family." The woman says to Morgan, her fingers still in Reid's hair.

The pair of them stay where they are until Reid wakes up just as the jet is landing. Morgan smiles.

"Hey, Pretty Boy, how you feeling?" He asks as he straightens up. Reid shrugs.

"Not bad, it's still there but not as bad as it was." His brother answers. "Well we're just hitting the runway now, why don't you come and stay with me tonight?" Even though Morgan poses it as a question, the team know it's not, Reid nods, not wanting to start a fight that he won't win.

It's windy when the team deplane with their go-bags in their hands. Reid looks at his team with a grateful smile. "Thanks for helping me guys." The young genius says. Emily and JJ give him hugs before they get in the car, ready to take them back to the office, Hotch and Rossi both squeeze his shoulder before they too leave to join the girls in the car and then it's just him and Morgan watching as the SUV drives away from the runway, leaving the two surrogate brother alone.

"Thank you for staying with me, Morgan." The youngest member of the BAU says, following Morgan to the other car and getting in the passenger seat, throwing his go-bag in the back seat.

"You're welcome, Kid, you're my brother, and brothers stay with each other." Morgan says as he turns on the engine and drives to his place. Reid yawns and leans his head against the window and watches the scenery go by, his migraine pretty much evaporating with each minute that goes by.

He never couldn't have gotten through this migraine without his team, especially not without his brother.
