DISCLAIMER: I do not own NCIS.

This is a beginning of a multi chapter fic, though I haven't finish writing it yet.

Chapter One - A New Job

Ziva switched her phone off as she walked around the corner from the break room. She had just had a very interesting phone call and she wasn't sure what she was going to do next.

A cleaner walked by, pushing a cart. Ziva followed him and spotted Tony, who hadn't gone home yet. She walked over to his desk. He was filling out paperwork.

Ziva cleared her throat.

'Tony?'

'Yeah?' He was miles away, in his own world, wanting to finish this last little bit of paperwork. Ziva paused before continuing.

'I have been offered a job' she said, unsure that Tony had heard her.

He looked up.

'What did you say?

'I have been offered a job' repeated Ziva.

'Where?'

'The Alice Edwards Foundation' said Ziva.

'What's the job?'

'Support worker.'

Tony smiled. Team Gibbs had worked with The Alice Edwards Foundation a couple of months ago. The foundation supported survivors of sexual assault, helping them through everything from giving a statement, through any legal entanglements and starting a new life. The foundation also provided sex education services for young people as well as other services.

The team had worked the foundation after a male sailor had been sexually assaulted. Male survivors rarely came forward so when Petty Officer Rudy did, Ziva took the lead with interviewing him. She worked with him to identify his attackers and then find the right kind of therapy through the foundation.

'Are you going to take the job?' asked Tony.

'I do not know. Karen only called about ten minutes ago. I wanted to see what you thought about it.

Tony stood up and walked around to face Ziva.

'Do you know why they offered you the job?'

'Karen said that she liked how I was with Rudy. She was impressed that I was able to get a male survivor to open up enough to give a statement, let alone identify his attackers and seek therapy.' Tony smiled. 'What is it Tony?'

'I think it's the perfect job for you.'

'Why?'

'You have an incredible ability to empathise with people.' Ziva smiled slightly. She was not used to getting compliments. 'Do you want to take the job?

Ziva nodded. Ever since Eli had died and Bodnar was caught & arrested, Ziva had thought about making a change. Originally, Ziva thought it would be to get a new place, maybe start going back to temple on a Saturday. Now she was wondering if a change was taking a new job, something different from NCIS.

'After Tali died, I wanted to get justice for her. By hunting down terrorists and murderers and attackers. I wanted to honour her life, make sure no one else died the way she did.'

'And now?' asked Tony.

'I still want to honour my sister' said Ziva. 'But maybe there is another way I can. I think I want to start helping those who get left behind after we close a case. Help survivors and families build new lives and learn to live with grief. The foundation wants to give me proper training and everything Tony. Karen said that they would even help me get a degree if I decide to go down the counsellor route.'

'Then take the job' said Tony. He went back around his desk, closing the file and picking up his bag. He reached over and switched the lamp off.

'Are you sure?' asked Ziva. She wanted the job but it was going to be a big change, even if she wanted a change. The job was completely different from what she was doing now as an agent, and Ziva wasn't sure she was up to the challenge. On top of that, Ziva wouldn't be able to work with Tim, Abby, Gibbs and Tony every day. Ziva wasn't sure she liked not seeing Tony everyday.

'100% Zi' said Tony. 'Firstly, you seem genuinely excited about the whole thing. Secondly, your ability to empathise and talk with people, plus your own experience.' Tony swallowed awkwardly. He hated bringing up Somalia. 'The way you were with Petty Officer Rudy was incredible. There is no way me, McGee or Gibbs could have helped him the way you did. And it's not just Rudy either, Zi, but the other cases we've had over the years, whether their sexual violence or not. You will make a great support worker and may be a counsellor someday.'

Ziva reached over to her desk and picked up her bag.

'Thank you Tony.'

'Happy to help. I'll miss working with you. We all will' he added.

'It is not like I am moving far away. I will still be in DC' said Ziva.

'Yeah I know' said Tony, smiling. 'Come on ninja, I'll buy you a drink to celebrate.'
