A pair of paws held a small head above a mahogany table, he should have been happy, ecstatic even. The man who had caused chaos for 200 years was dead and yet, he felt he could have done something to make it come at less of a cost. Toshinori was in the hospital, and while he was alive, Chiyo doubted he could ever be a hero again.
To make matters worse, he had lost all but five of some of the most powerful items of all time. That villain had taken them during the fight, scattering them to the criminals of the world. He reached towards the box upon his desk, the lid that was proudly engraved with the UA logo now mocking him. The principal flicked it open, the side draws following it. He looked down at the flower pattern, his attention taken away from it by the being that hugged his shoulder.
Nezu stared down at the little floating creature that was attempting to wrap her tiny arms around his shoulder, he reached down into his desk, retrieving some Emmental cheese and handing it to the tiny god.
He turned his attention back to the box, the first that caught his attention was the pair of earrings at the centre of the box. He had to get them out of anyone's reach, with the cat's location unknown, he couldn't risk the power getting out.
The next was the panjas bracelet, he'd give it back to Toshinori if the man recovered, if not... he didn't want to think about that. His eyes turned to the empty blue draw, no one knew who had the rabbit, but at least that man didn't get his hands on it.
Second last, was the necklace that he wore, it was best he kept it, the power would be the most useful in his hands. That left the last object, a five pointed broach styled like feathers. He'd have to do something with it eventually but for now, it would stay where it was.
His phone rang, the name on the device causing Nezu's hand to shoot to it: "How is he?"
"He's up." Chiyo replied, sounding significantly more tired than the last time he had heard her. "And it looks like he's going to be able to keep working."
6 Years Later:
Darkness. That was all that surrounded his vision as he laid still. He was woken from his slumber by a light taping upon his cheek, a familiar voice telling him to get up. The teen cracked his eyes open, coming face to face with his saviour.
The man was gigantic, towering over the thin boy in front of him. His light blue eyes shone, his ever present smile illuminating his face. His blond hair stuck up in two tufts that defied gravity. The skintight suit he wore was a mix of blue, red and yellow, the material some form of fur. Upon his left hand was his iconic support item, the tiger symbol shining in the sun.
"All Might!" The boy, one Izuku Midoriya, shouted in surprise, the number one hero sighing in relief that the teen was alive. Izuku glanced around for his things, spotting his backpack, which was held by... a mouse dressed as a mouse?
The tiny hero looked up at the green haired boy, the notebook that was in his hand turned to face Izuku. "Izuku Midoriya, correct?" A nod. "I must say these are most intriguing, especially the part where you know about a national secret." The open page was one of the many studying All Might, this one specifically, analysed the bracelet that occasionally amplified the man's strength.
"W-well it was just a guess really and I-I don't really think it has much evidence-" He was cut of by the sound of All Might coughing, before being covered by a plume of smoke.
"So you're the principal of UA high." A nod. "Even though no one has seen you in public." Another. "In order to protect the fact you have magic artefacts." Another confirmation. "And you're telling me this because I found some old pictures of the thing All Might's wearing. Who is actually severely injured." The teen finished, gesturing to the now incredibly skinny man.
"That about sums it up, Midoriya." Nezu spoke, handing the boy's belongings back to him. "I do ask that you refrain from mentioning this to anyone. I have told you simply to satisfy you human's natural curiosity. Now, pardon us but we have work to do." The mouse like man turned away, the symbol of peace following after him.
"Wait!" The two hero's turned their heads, the teenager still appearing rather shocked at everything that was happening. "Can someone be a hero without a quirk?"
All Might went to speak, but was cut off by Nezu: "That depends on what you believe a hero to be Midoriya. If you mean one who defeats villains, perhaps not. If you mean someone who helps people, then there are endless ways to be a hero. You need only decide how you want to help people. Have a think on it."
Izuku hadn't stopped muttering to himself since his talk with the two heroes. Nezu's words repeated in his head, the teen never had thought of what a hero was, beyond All Might being the perfect one. Speaking of All Might, he glanced down at the autographed page within his notebook, something he had wanted to posses for years.
His thoughts were interrupted however, as he bumped into a crowd. The emerald eyed boy had been to busy in thought to notice the ongoing fight on the street. His eyes widened in surprise as he saw the villain who had attacked him early, holding someone hostage. The heroes watched the sludge carefully, but made no attempt to save the figure trapped inside.
The teen was about to begin to take notes on the pros present, but stopped when he saw who was trapped by the villain. Ash blonde hair waved wildly, crimson eyes staring out in a emotion Izuku had never seen in the teen's eyes, fear. This was Katsuki Bakugou, the one who had tormented Izuku since he was four. "Stop!" One of the heroes called out as Izuku ran past. He hadn't even realised he had moved until the villian glared at him, his deep voice growling.
"You again!" The man was disabled as Izuku's bag was sent flying into his eyes, the teen taking the opportunity to try to grab his former friend. However, the villain recovered, lunging for the boy in front of him. His attack never landed, Izuku and Katsuki both being pulled out of the villains reach by a new figure.
"Do not fear... why? Because I am here!" All Might called out his famous catchphrase, before bringing his fist back and delivering a blow to the villain. A bang erupted through the area as his fist broke the sound barrier, the resulting wind from the attack sending the villain's liquid body flying in every direction.
The clouds within the sky shifted, before gathering together and bringing a light rain. "He changed the weather, with just one punch!" A civilian called out, causing the rest to cheer the hero.
Izuku once again found himself walking down the street, but now he felt significantly more melancholy. All Might had immediately disappeared after the fight, leaving the rest of the heroes to shout at Izuku about how his actions had been foolish. His walk was interrupted however, as Nezu stepped out of a side street.
"Ah, just the person I was looking for." The teacher spoke cheerfully, he was no longer within his mouse outfit, instead wearing a pristine suit along with a coin pendant. "I was just informed of the events with the sludge villain."
"I-I'm sorry, sir. I-I d-didn't mean to get in the way."
"I'm not hear to reprimand you, Midoriya." The teen looked up at the man, who continued: "I only wish to ask you a question, if that is fine with you?"
"Of course, sir."
"Thank you, though you don't need to be so formal. My question is in relation to what I told you early. What do you think a hero is?"
The green haired boy remained silent, his mind moving at a mile a minute. All Might was a hero, but Izuku didn't know what made him one. It couldn't have been villain captures, Endeavour was above him in that regard. Rescuing people? No, there were plenty of people he thought were heroes that didn't do that, so...
"Helping people." Izuku finally spoke. "A hero is someone who helps people."
"A rather simple answer, one that many would find to be naive." Izuku was worried slightly, but that melted away as the hero smiled. "But that was exactly the answer I wanted. I would like to give you the opportunity to help people, Midoriya. I would like to give you the opportunity to be a hero."
A quiet beep reached Izuku's ears as he scanned his guest pass, stepping through the large gates of UA, he took in the gigantic building. The teen had always imagined himself here, but he never thought it would be this incredible. "Hey there, you here for Nezu?" Izuku shouted in surprise as the voice whispered in his ear.
Turning around, he saw a young man dressed in the UA uniform, who had somehow managed to appear behind him. The blonde laughed slightly at Izuku's panic, before introducing himself: "I'm Mirio Togata, second year here at UA."
"I-Izuku Midoriya, nice to meet you. I was told by Nezu to come to his office today."
"This way then, not a good idea to keep him waiting."
"O-of course."
"No need to be so nervous, Nezu ain't that scary. Well, most of the time he's not."
"T-That's... not the most reassuring thing."
"You'll be fine."
The door to Nezu's office swung open before Izuku could knock, a voice beckoning him inside. What he witnessed was strange... Nezu was wearing the suit Izuku had first seen him in. Well, more accurately, Nezus were.
Around the room were many tiny desks, at them sat tiny versions of Nezu, all busing themselves with various work. "Ah Midoriya, welcome take a seat." The mass of Nezus gathered round the middle normal sized desk, and with a mutter of: "Mullo unsqueak.", they became one Nezu, not dressed in the costume.
He took a seat at his desk, gesturing for Izuku to take the other: "Tea?"
"Thank you." The teen responded, still glancing at the tiny desks covering the room.
The cup was placed in front of Izuku, while Nezu rummaged under his desk, emerging with an octagonal box. Upon the lid of the box was the UA logo, gold plates making up the letters. Nezu opened the box, revealing a flower pattern, and numerous side draws. The slots within the box were all empty, save the purple one containing a brooch.
"You were right when you stated that All Might's support item had been used before, though you did not know its exact nature. May I ask, how did you gain those photos of Purple Tigress?"
"I found them in some of my Mam's stuff, apparently we had some ancestors in France at the time."
"I see. Then allow me to explain exactly what these artefacts are. Mullo, if you would." Out of the principal's pocket flew a small creature, it's appearance that of a cartoon like mouse.
"Hi, I'm Mullo, nice to meet you."
"Uh... nice to meet you too?"
Nezu chuckled, before explaining: "This is Mullo, a Kwami. Kwami are creatures that embody aspects of the universe, in this case, that aspect is multiplication. Kwamis, when combined with their respective Miraculous-" He gestured to the pendant around his neck: "grant the user magical powers."
"So All Might's strength comes from one of these."
"The majority of it comes from his quirk, but his occasional bursts of strength and light do originate from his Miraculous."
"And the box is meant to contain them."
"Indeed, however the majority were lost to a powerful villain, who scattered them amongst the underworld. Three are left in our possession, the one I wear, the one belonging to All Might, and the one before you. The other two that are not in the hands of villains are not a concern."
"So what does this have to do with me?"
"Isn't it rather obvious?" The mouse gestured to the remaining piece of jewellery.
"You mean... you want me to have one of these powers?"
"Indeed, the power of the peacock grants control over emotion, its power is one that requires an incredibly responsible person to use. I believe you are such a person." He reached into the box, his paw presenting the brooch to the boy before him: "Izuku Midoriya, I, the current guardian of the Chinese Miracle box, offer to you the power of Amokization, with it, I request you become a hero."
Author's notes:
Unlike my persona story, there actually are quite a few stories with this concept, but I decided to have my own go at it, so I hope it'll be enjoyable.
