Summary: Jamie and Eddie respond to a call that looks like trespassing at a seemingly abandoned house. What will they find inside? Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Blue Bloods characters. I'm just borrowing them for a little while. All original characters however, are mine. Hope you all enjoy this first chapter. Set somewhere in Season 7. Date Started: 6/22/23. Finished: 6/22/23.
"12 David on the air?"
Keeping his eyes on the road, Jamie pressed the button on his radio up by his shoulder.
"12 David, go."
Dispatch on the other end rattled off the details of the address they were responding to.
"12 David, be advised we have reports of two individuals trespassing at an abandoned residence on East 97th street."
Jamie pressed the button on his radio and responded.
"Show 12 David responding."
Eddie sighed.
"That's the 4th trespassing call we've responded to today. Hey want to go to Anton's after tour?"
Jamie shook his head and got out of the car. Eddie following just behind him.
"This house looks like it hasn't been lived in for years. Be careful."
Eddie stepped up to the front door it was open. She was about to step over the threshold when Jamie put a hand up, shining his flashlight at the ground.
"Eddie hold up. Fresh blood. Call in a 10-85 and a bus."
Nodding, Eddie reached for the button on her radio.
"12 David to Dispatch. We need a 10-85 to this location and a bus."
Eddie looked at Jamie when she heard crying coming from inside the house.
"Jamie, that sounds like a baby. We have to go in."
Jamie looked around.
"Eddie, we need to wait for back up."
Eddie wasn't about to leave a baby in there. Carefully stepping into the house, she managed to avoid the fresh blood below her feet. Jamie went in after her.
"Eddie wait!"
The two partners had their guns drawn as they entered the house. Each clearing all the rooms in the house except one. Eddie was the first to peek into the last room.
"Jamie! Body! Found the baby!"
Jamie reached Eddie in two strides and shined the flashlight into the room. He grimaced at the scene in front of him. There was a woman with dark hair on the floor, in a pool of her own blood. Then there was the squalling baby only feet from her. Reaching down to check the woman's pulse, Jamie found none and shook his head at Eddie.
"She's gone."
Eddie took the screaming infant in her arms and rocked her a little. Jamie frowned and looked at the baby. He continued his conversation with Eddie.
"The baby's still attached to the mother."
Jamie wrapped the baby in his jacket after he cut the umbilical cord and tied off the stump with his shoe lace. Eddie saddened at the thought of this baby no longer having a mother around. The little girl had quieted some but was whimpering. Eddie did her best to calm her.
"Hey. Its ok. Everything is going to be ok now. We won't let anyone hurt you ok? We'll protect you. Right Jamie?"
Jamie nodded and kept the frowned plastered on his face.
"Someone dragged her in here. There was a struggle. She's got wood under her finger nails."
Jamie found a blanket and covered the woman. He listened to Eddie continue talking to the little girl in her arms.
"Your safe now sweetie."
Getting a little closer to Eddie, Jamie shined the flashlight towards her.
"Is she ok?"
Eddie tried to be positive.
"She seems ok. But we'll have to wait for EMS to check her out. Jamie, who would want to murder her mother?"
That was a question that Jamie didn't have an answer to at the moment.
"I wish I knew. No one deserves to be alone in this world."
