Cole was wandering in the corridors of the monastery. The others, including Sensei Wu, were on an unexpected mission and didn't bother to wake Cole up.

He then decided to get some fresh air, but that only led to him seeing a sight that made him freeze in his tracks.

Turns out, he wasn't left alone in the monastery—Jay was there too.

It's just Jay; why did it make Cole freeze?

Well, Jay was in mid-transformation into a werewolf.

Cole's POV

Jay was standing there, gradually transforming into a werewolf. A werewolf. And by the way he acts, it looks like he knew about his heritage beforehand.

His heterochromatic eyes then flickered with an otherworldly light as he snarled and bared fangs at me.

For a moment, I felt my heart in my throat. I never thought Jay was a werewolf.

While I was shocked by the scene before me, something caught my eye. Jay's eyes, something that had always been unalike, are now both a deep golden color.

As I stared even deeper into those wolfish eyes, I felt a strange connection with Jay. I know we've been best friends since childhood, but this, like I said, was strange.

Jay seems to recognize me, since he didn't attack me yet... Or is he waiting for the right time to attack?

Oh, snap out of it, Cole. You're starting to treat him like a monster.

I cautiously stepped closer to him, holding out my hand.

Surprisingly, he leaned into the touch, whining softly.

I continued stroking his fur, "I'm here for you, Zaptrap, don't worry."

Jay's golden eyes glinted in the dim light, and for a moment they looked almost human. But then Jay shook it off, then howled.

I guess I'm lost to the wolf for now.

I watched the wolf stare at me, then disappear into the darkness of the night.

The feeling of uneasiness settled in me. Something tells me that there's more to Jay's transformation than meets the eye.
