Warning: I don't own RWBY or Warhammer 40k.
Prologue : The Mistress of Inquisition.
(Narrating Salem):
The 41st millennium.
Being a citizen inside is to be an individual drowned in the multitude.
It is to live in the cruelest regime imaginable.
The powers of science and technology are fragile, ready to fall into oblivion if we are not careful.
A grim and dark time you can step into if you dare. But you will find no comfort.
Forget your hopes for peace and prosperity.
Abandon them because the nightmarish future of the 41st millennium. There is only war.
Terra...
What an intriguing planet.
Ever since I trod on it, since the Twins banished me from the world I was born into and taken my magic away.
Terra has always fascinated me.
Magic did not exist, instead, one could find beings called Psykers, mastering psychic powers coming from an infernal dimension named Warp.
Instead of grass, there was radioactive sand.
Instead of spears and swords, firearms, or lasers.
Instead of flamboyant kingdoms, barbarian empires.
A world full of sadness, hatred, grief, and the like. Although the Grimms were not there. A world where Earthlings unlike my world were to be whatever they wanted without soulless monsters to hinder them and without a deity ruling them.
Then one day, the Emperor of Mankind ceased the wars between these empires. Uniting the world and bringing an era of peace.
For her part, Terra was not the only one inhabited. Several million worlds were filled with human beings and the Emperor's dream is to unite them all under his banner.
After encountering the Sigilitte and being his pupil, I followed the Emperor, followed him in the wars against Xenos and Chaos. Then it was his lost sons who joined him chasing the beings threatening the human beings of which I am a part.
When his most glorious son led the fleets of wars. I accompanied him, in the deepest planets and the most dangerous systems.
But as we plunged into the darkness of the unknown, a betrayal set the Imperium to fire and blood, Chaos cutting us off from Terra.
Eventually, after purging the traitors, the return of the Imperium was accompanied by a great reconquest pursuing the Chaos Priest while his Word Bearers told the lies to compound the betrayal.
Finally, the Priest was driven into the Eye and banished.
Despite the victory, the Imperium emerged bruised. The Great Work, an invention designed to secure the Imperium from ruinous powers was destroyed. The Dimensional Lighthouse meanwhile, remained intact. Many pieces of technology from a Middle Ages of Peace were lost.
But despite everything, the Crusade resumed and soon, the Imperium was strengthened in the Galaxy.
Millennia passed and wars followed peace as well as crises succeeding prosperity followed one another.
But in the 41st millennium, enemies are everywhere.
The monsters of the Galaxy are far more terrible than the soulless creatures of my planet.
The Orks, brutal beings, whose number and strength make up for the lack of intelligence.
The Eldar, an ancient race, having lived in the Galaxy in its early days, although on the brink of extinction, continue to believe they are superior.
The Dark Eldar are corrupt, having got rid of the nobility of the Eldar. Living in a dark city, they fulfill their vices in these dark streets as they derive joy from torturing those, they deem inferior in elaborate ways.
The Tyranids, a race from the unknown, driven by hunger, devouring everything in it, leaving only the pebbles.
The Necrons, beings of metal, from a past that no one knew, wanting to spread death in the Galaxy with their dying empire.
The Tau, a young, naive race. Whose hopes are still fresh.
Then finally, Chaos. A force from a dimension where emotions come to life. A force resulting from the worst obsessions of living beings. Violence, Manipulation, Decline, Perversion. Four words that alone describe the personified vices that want to possess all beings in Galaxy.
All besiege the Imperium and try to bend it.
Countless soldiers sacrifice their lives for the Imperium.
The Imperial Guards whose abundance outweighs their lack of strength.
Space Marines, whose force of impact can destroy powerful enemies.
The Adeptus Mechanicus, whose forges supply the Imperium with ships, vehicles, and weapons.
But also, the Inquisition. An investigative body that watches and fights hidden but dangerous adversaries in the shadows.
Inquisition which I lead. The Emperor gave me this mission because of my exploits with the Warmaster during the betrayal of the Priest.
Thus, for nearly 100 centuries, my hand has gripped monsters of all kinds threatening the Imperium behind its back.
The Galaxy is big and maybe. My planet, Remnant will be under my sight. Under the protection of the Imperium.
The War continues to rage but the 200 billion Stars of the Galaxy hide many corners which the war fleets are content to ignore so my planet would have been ignored even after all this time.
Thus begins a Tale.
The Tale of the Mistress of the Inquisition. Going from banished to high figure.
To be continued in Ep 1 : Arrival on a rotten planet.
Salem is banished to threatening the very existence or Remnant. She is casted on a ill planet, plagued by wars. Lost on this world, the despair awaits her.
