Hey all, and welcome to my first fanfiction! I can't exactly say that I'm the best writer in the world, but whenever I do spur of the moment writing my friends tend to like it. So I figured I would finally take the leap, so without further ado, here is my first RWBY fanfic, Soul to Take.
The harsh sun of Anima's Savanah shown down on two figures. A dark-skinned boy with messy, shining gold hair that looked only 6 years of age and an old man, wrinkly and suntanned. The two sat cross-legged next to each other in a wide-open field as they soaked in the harsh rays of the sun. They spoke to each other as they meditated.
"What do you sense kiddo?"
"Uhmm, I sense you, two inches away, I sense dad, 15 meters away, and I sense grandma….30 meters away?"
"Close but no cigar Ellie Boy, 31 meters." The old man said with a chuckle as he opened his eyes and rose from the grass. The boy known as Ellie opened his eyes as he went to lay on the ground, groaning as he fell.
"C'mon, gramps! This is so boring! Why can't I go spar or make my weapon like Anisse is!"
"Does my first lesson leave your brain every time we train boy? Elliot Saffronus, you are going to repeat to me my first lesson right now." Gramps said with fake annoyance as he softly kicked his grandson in the head.
"Fiiiine, lesson number 1: A huntsman's first weapon is his Aura."
"That's right! Before you even think of forging your weapons, Brothers forbid a mechashift, you need to hone your aura to its fullest! Your aura is below average for kids your age so you know what you're going to do! You're going to make sure your aura is the sharpest it can be, Ellie Boy!"
"Yeah yeah, you say that every time. And why do you hate mechashift so much?"
Gramp's face formed into a scowl "Because mechashift is unreliable! if you want so many weapons, make that many weapons! All you have to do at that point is switch between them! And besides, who doesn't like the classic stuff, it's reliable! Now, how's about we have dinner, I believe you've earned some dessert as well for how close you got to sensing Grandma."
"Aw heck yeah, you're the best gramps!"
…..
Elliot found himself worryingly nervous. Despite his stature of an up-and-coming huntsman, he felt quite weak. His knees felt weak and his arms were heavier than usual. Not even his mom's spaghetti would alleviate his nerves. The golden-haired boy found himself nervous for one deceptively simple reason, he was going on a date. Or well, it's like a date. In reality, all he's doing is getting his friend Annisse's help with the blueprints for his weapons. While his weapons were simple, a pair of daggers, a lever action rifle, and a pair of gauntlets, he had no idea how to make the damnable things. He could ask for his grandpa's help, but the brothers know he would take forever helping him, and the rest of his family was as inexperienced with the forge as he was. So that left him with only one option left, Anisse. She was a veritable goddess of the forge, it was like she was born to forge the moment she laid her hands on tools. Not to mention beautiful, her flowing ginger hair framed her wonderfully freckled face perfectly, and while she may have been shorter than most, her time in the forge lent her quite a…toned physique. Elliot was captivated the moment he met her, which led to him developing an incredible crush on her throughout his years of training under his grandfather. With Elliot so in his head, he never noticed Anisse open the door to her home.
"Ellie Bear? Why're you just standing there?"
"OH UH- Anisse, hi! How are you, I was just wondering if you could help me forge my weapons? Y'know, cuz I need them and all that…please?"
She chuckled "Sure thing Ellie, come in, I'll take a look at the plans."
Elliot followed Anisse into her home, it was a fairly cozy place. Considering the harsh environment of their home, the chance to relax is paramount. Elliot sat on a plush leather couch as Anisse went into her kitchen to grab a few drinks. Elliot couldn't help but feel embarrassed as he laid out the plans for his weapons on her coffee table. Anisse got orders for incredible works of mechashift all the time, he's seen spears that turn into rocket launchers, axes with jets on the back, heck even a tuba that somehow transforms into a cannon. Compared to all those, he felt like he was wasting her time. Anisse came back into the room and sat next to Elliot.
"Alright Big Guy, what're we looking at here?"
"Oh- well the lever action is pretty much a normal lever action, the only thing I really want special for it is the capability to load my dust grenades. The daggers are also fairly normal, all I could use for that is just a dust compartment though, I want to make sure it has enough cutting power as it can. The gauntlets I think are my best work though, I need sort of a cylinder or feed ramp for these little dust capsules I have, the idea is that I'll be able to modify my punches with a bunch of different elements. "
"Jeez Ellie, you got a lot for me to make. Should be pretty easy though, the only thing that'll take a bit of time is the feed ramp for the gauntlets. Sure you don't want to make any of these mechashift?" She asked after taking a look at the plans.
"Nah, I'd rather not. Gramps always said mechashift was unreliable, I don't really want to take the chance of it failing on me in battle, that and the fact maintenance for any ideas I would have would be a nightmare."
Anisse gave a light chuckle at what Elliot said "Alright alright, leave it to the big guy to be all brawn and no brain."
"Oi!"
"You know I don't mean it. I think your weapons are wonderful, they got names?"
Elliot noticeably paused at the idea of names "Oh uh well, considering the sorta- chaotic nature my weapons are taking, what with all the dust i'll be using and all, I'm thinking of having them all begin with pandemonium and giving them sort of…last names I guess? Gramps had the same naming scheme with his revolvers, and he's going to be giving me those if I'm able to get into a huntsman academy, so I want to keep the same naming scheme."
Anisse smiled as Elliot rambled on about his weapons as if he was looking at an excited puppy "You really love your grandpa don'tcha Ellie Bear?"
"Well, yeah. He's been teaching me ever since I asked him to unlock my aura. My dad was on the fence with me being a huntsman but gramps didn't even think twice. He's been helping me with my dream and I honestly couldn't be more grateful. And uhm, you too Anisse, you could be taking orders for something cooler than my basic old weapons, you're as much a part of this as gramps was."
"Ellie you don't gotta thank me. The best way to thank me is by takin' my weapons and kicking some grimm butt with em'." She said, lightly punching Elliot on his shoulder.
"I'll do my best. And y'know what, I think I have an idea for one of the names. Pandemonium Anisse."
Anisses cheeks dusted "Ellie…that's sweet of you. Say, there's gonna be a meteor shower at the end of the week, I should be able to get your rifle done by then, how about we go up into the mountains and watch it? We can test out the rifle while we wait."
"I'd-I'd love to Anisse"
"Alright, it's a date Ellie Bear!"
