Authors note
Hi, everyone. After years of reading these stories I have finally decided to try one myself. There are so many that have been left unfinished or some I thought could be written from different perspectives. That is what I hope to accomplish.
As my first fanfiction, I want to start by rewriting/maybe finishing this cute little short on called "A New Kind of Magic". I am a die hard Milorian fan but usually read stories about Clarion. There is just something about her character that I have always favored. That being said, most of what I write will be her(this story will switch perspective though).
Disclaimer: This is not my attempt to steal anyone's story. This one originally has 1 chapter and was written almost 8 years ago. I will also be changing a lot to make it my own.
PS: I would really enjoy hearing your ideas for future stories or what you would like to see in this one. I'm new to this and have no idea what I'm doing, so plz feel free to tell me what you want. Enjoy!
Chapter 1
Vidia was stacking the last of the potted pollen on the back of the woven cart. The cool summer breeze swept across her face, taking away some of the ache the hot sun had gifted her. She was anxious to get home and rest after the long day was finally coming to a close. Flying up and sitting in a budding flower, she took in the serene landscape of the Spring fields. It had been a long time since she had stopped to genuinely appreciate the beauty of her home.
" Vidia, we have to take the pollen to the garden fairies in Spring Time Square. Help me pull this cart. If we are late again, Marigold is going to give us hell" Wisp nagged, pulling Vidia out of her drifting thoughts. Wisp was a very enthusiastic fairy, always in a rush to get things done first. Vidia did not particularly enjoy the presence of the young fairy but remembered a time when she was once like her. That in no way meant that she wanted a confidant in the fairy. Infact, she preferred to be alone. Had actually spent most of her time that way. She had made it very clear to almost everyone in Pixie Hollow that it was not something she was looking to change. Almost everyone. After her little accident with Tinkerbell and a human child on the mainland about 2 summers ago, some people(and by some means Tinkerbell and her friends)may have ignored the obvious social queues that Vidia did not want friends.
Rolling her eyes at Wisp, Vidia let her tired wings carry her to the ground to an impatient Wisp. Her aching shoulder tensed as her arms worked to lift the front of the cart, the exhaustion creeping into her muscles faster. With a vexed huff they began pulling the cart.
" Marigold is going to throw a fit when we show up. I swear, that fairy drives me nuts…" Wisp starts, babbling on 100 words every second." I have been here for nearly a whole year, why am I always getting stuck on pollen duty?" Vidia swore this girl did not have an off switch. With no energy or care to make a reply, she ignored the girl and instead focused her eyesight toward the ground in front of her, kicking small rocks and sticks out of their path.
"Vidia, Wisp, over here" Marigold pointed to a tree stump where the garden fairies had baskets of seeds and flower buds gathered. " On time as always," her voice was filtered with sarcasm. Usually when they were late, Marigold had no problem letting them know. "The Queen is coming around making last minute changes for spring," she explained while examining the pots of pollen. Wisp quickly throws Vidia a look and rolls her eyes making Vidia grin. Of course when the Queen was around, all she would be was lovely. She had golden blonde hair neatly brushed and pulled back into a half up half down hairstyle and her petuna skirt neatly ironed against her body. The fast flyers knew that she had a number of complaints with their work. Luckily for them, they wouldn't have to hear them.
"Don't bother complaining that it isn't perfect because we aren't changing anything" Vidia chips in impatiently before Marigold gets a chance to say anything. The blonde turns around with a slight bitterness in her expression but quickly drops it to a smile,"Don't be silly, it looks great."
Vidia's brows furrowed in confusion,"That's not what you said last ti…"
"Your majesty," Marigold greats before Vidia finishes her sentence. A few other garden fairies notice the Queen's presence and bow in respect. Wisp and Vidia spin around to see a gold clad fairy standing behind them.
"Queen Clarion" Wisp says in surprise and then bows.
"Good evening Girls" the regal fairy greets back, offering a kind smile to Marigold, Wisp and the other garden fairies. As she turns to acknowledge the other fast flier with a smile, Vidia crosses her arms and quickly avoids the Queen's eyes. Shaking off the indifference Vidia showed, Clarion turns her attention away from the raven haired fairy,"Why don't you show me what you have gotten done today" she instructs walking off with Marigold. Only after the Queen's back turns away from Vidia does she glance her way. "You may go home" the Queen calls back to the fast flying fairies without looking up from the basket of seeds and pollen. Not another second is wasted before Vidia takes off. She does however fail to notice Clarion's gaze following her as she leaves. With a deep sigh the Queen turns back to Marigold.
Really short chapter to start but I promise they will get longer. Please leave a review and if you have any idea for future chapters don't be afraid to share them.
