Chapter one:

The turtles stare into the enemy lair from their hidden high up vantage point.

Leo judges the movements of each enemy minions dressed in cloaks. His gaze going to the the leader watching over the minions.

The leader is also wearing a cloak and a metal helmet. He looks unarmed though his cloak could be hiding weapons.

Then there's the whole issue of not only Casey having been captured, but also whatever the machine they're building will do.

Leo turns to his brothers as they turn to look to him. He keeps his voice down so they're not caught. "Raph and Mikey. You two take down as many of those minions as you can." He sees only maybe twenty at most so the two should be able to handle it. He looks to Donnie. "Donnie you need to find a way to get Casey out of there." He nods to the cage Casey is sitting in. "Then destroy that machine. I'll keep the leader distracted."

The others nod in understanding then they all turn back to the scene.

Leo jumps down with the others following, except for Donnie who jumps to a more hidden spot to sneak around, landing in the middle of the enemies.

"Get them!" The cartoon soldier helmet wearing leader demands pointing to the turtles.

The minions abandon what they're doing to charge.

Mikey follows Raph as the two of them begin taking out the minions. He swings his nunchucks knocking the minions away. He focuses on any that get too close.

Raph swings and slashes with his sais hitting the minions charging at him.

Leo dashes towards the leader and swings his swords in attacks. He focuses on each swing to hit precisely where he wants them.

So far the enemy has done well in managing to move his armored arms in defense.

Leo also notices that even the leaders legs are armored. His slice at them only makes the leader hardly stumble. He has no doubt that the rest of this persons body is armored. He backs off for a moment to replan his attacks... Though he quickly regrets this action.

The leader turns noticing Donnie who has managed to loosen the cage door. He growls and charges towards Donnie. He grabs a spear head from under his cloak, that with the push of a button turns into a full spear. He throws it at an unsuspecting Donnie.

Leo knows if he doesn't act fast then Donnie will be hit. He dashes towards the spear, putting one sword away, leaping at it to close the gap faster. He tries to grab it though his hand is only able to bump it. His hand closing around air. He lands on his feet and is glad that the spear hit the wall only surprising Donnie.

Donnie is safe and unharmed by that spear that could have dug in deep.

Leo turns hearing hurried footsteps coming for him. He sees the leader is charging him and there is a gleam of something sharp in his hands. He doesn't have time to defend himself however he tries as he starts to raise his sword.

"Leo!" Raph screams noticing the leaders attack going to strike the other. His scream causes the others to turn to what is going on.

The leader slashes Leo with the objects he's holding managing to hit with both hands. He lands on his feet as Leo is thrown back a little, then to the ground by the hit with a cry of pain.

Leo lands on his right side on the ground. He doesn't get up, bleeding from his wounds. He had seen the enemy move to strike him then darkness and blinding pain. He clenches his teeth trying to endure the pain. He however swears all the sounds are fading. He is soon left in quiet as he goes unconscious.

Raph screams in rage and leaps at the leader slamming him harshly to the ground. He knocks away the blades the leader tries to use on him. He slams his fist against the leaders face over and over again in his anger. He is only stopped when Casey and Mikey pull him off, the minions defeated. He struggles in their grasp. "Let me kill him!" He demands though the two refuse to let go.

"He's defeated." Mikey points out as the leader is indeed unconscious.

"We'll get him thrown in jail. But that's not important right now." Casey adds hoping to get through to Raph.

Raphs struggles slow to a stop at the reminder of his brother. He turns to see Donnie worriedly looking at Leo. He is let go of and runs over to them. He can't see the wounds too well thanks to the blood.

"We have to get him home." Donnie mentions knowing Splinter will know how to help Leo. Plus he knows that they have more supplies there to help their brother.

Raph nods and picks Leo up bridal style as the other remains unconscious. He dashes off in the direction of home trying to map out the quickest route.

Donnie moves to follow Raph only to pause to turn to Mikey and Casey.

"We'll take care of these guys. Then join you guys in the lair." Casey mentions and Donnie gives a grateful nod before chasing Raph.

Raph bursts into the lair causing Splinter to hurry over in alarm. "Master! Help!" He pleads bringing Leo over to Splinter. He is panting a little from the mad dash to get there.

Splinter looks in shock at Leo's state though he knows he must act quickly. "Lay him on the kitchen table." He hurries away to gather supplies as Raph does as he's told before backing away. He begins working on Leo as Donnie arrives; the turtle pausing to hunch over catching his breath.

Donnie moves to stand next to Raph as the two watch Splinter help Leo... Though Splinters body blocks their view.

The two knowing not to possibly interrupt by moving to try to get a better look. They need to let Splinter work.

Donnie puts a hand on Raphs shoulder as the other refuses to take his eyes away from Splinter. He is just as worried about Leo as Raph is though. He was able to determine that the injuries were pretty bad.

If Leo survives this it's guaranteed he'll have scars from it.

Donnie glances down noticing Raphs hands clench into fists. He looks away to stare at the floor in front of him. He isn't really sure what to say to help his brother without making empty promises. He can't say that Leo will be okay since he doesn't know that. He closes his eyes thinking about how the spear dug into the wall by him, then Leo who was between him and the enemy is struck down. He is smart enough to piece together what he had missed. He feels a sharp stab of guilt knowing that Leo saving him, from an attack he wasn't even aware of, caused him to get hit by the enemy. He should have been more aware and ready to dodge that attack.

Then maybe Leo wouldn't be laying there badly injured.

Raph wishes he had noticed sooner and had been able to stop the attack. He doesn't want Leo laying there injured. He hopes with all his being that the other makes it through. He'll be there to help during the recovery, he silently swears it.

The two remain quiet to each other and Donnie turns as Casey and Mikey return.

Mikey makes it to Donnies side and hugs him. His eyes shut tightly in fear and worry.

Donnie moves his hands to hug Mikey back, letting some tears fall while Mikey snuggles against his shell.

Casey stands on Raphs other side placing a hand on his shoulder. "Leo is strong." He tries. "I know he's going to put up one hell of a fight against this."

Raph just silently nods and continues to wait for Splinter to be done. He swears it feels like forever before Splinter moves away from Leo. "How is he?" He speaks up his voice almost a croak from his silence and worry.

Splinter turns seeing all four who are there are looking at him. "He's lost a lot of blood and his wounds are deep." He informs them as they listen. "He has a higher chance of making it than dying I will say." He seems to contemplate holding something back before sighing. "I highly doubt he'll truly be able to fight again. His eyes were hit by whatever did this. If he does survive he may never see again. Unless it's by some miracle."

Donnie and Mikey collapse as if their legs turned to jelly. Mikey sobbing while Donnie quietly cries and comforts him.

Raph just stares wide eyed with shock that turns to anger then worry. He closes his eyes lowering his head with a sigh. He figures of course this would happen after they had finally gotten Leo back; the other having only been back from his special training for almost a year.

Casey has his head down having hoped for the best only to get this instead.

"No matter what happens from here we will all need to do our part." Splinter tells the four of them as he looks over them. "It will be a hard time if Leo awakens. It is a big adjustment in normal life alone. Though through this we must remain together. Remain strong." He walks towards them stopping not far in front of them. "We cannot let this blow tear everything apart. Tear us apart. I do urge you to seek out support with at least someone you feel most comfortable with. As much as Leo needs us we cannot ignore ourselves. There is a balance with helping Leo and taking care of ourselves." He looks to Raph specifically. "Raph. Please take Leo to his room so he can rest."

Raph nods softly and heads over to Leo picking him up carefully. He takes the other to his bedroom. He closes the door after entering, cutting off Splinter talking to the others about what happened. As he can't hear him with the door shut. He gently places his brother on the bed then tucks him in with the blanket. He looks to the others face.

The blood has been cleaned off and there is white bandages around his head over his eyes.

Raph can tell that the length of the wound would leave the scars visible... Even though Leo won't ever see them. He sits next to the mattress on the floor turning away from the other. "You did your best. You even saved Donnies life." He had seen the spear hit the wall after hearing Donnie yelp in surprise. He can remember turning and realizing Leo helped stop the spear... Only to notice the enemy's attack much too late. "But at what cost?" He questions narrowing his eyes at the floor as if it had wronged him. He knows how devastated Leo will be if he wakes up. He wants the other to live, however can't help wondering if it'd be so bad if Leo didn't have to wake up to a life of being blind. He'd never hurt Leo or kill him. His thoughts just swirling in his head as he sits there. He doesn't even really notice Mikey and Donnie joining him in the room.

So I will be posting each chapter when I complete them. It worked with another story to help me write it and I picked this one as the next one.

All written on my phone so hopefully I catch the autocorrects.
