PING

Percy awoke to the sound of an odd pinging sound, almost like the sound his old Gameboy would make whenever he pressed the A button on Pokémon. He looked around and couldn't see anybody with a Gameboy around, in fact he was alone in his dorm room at Yancy Academy.

Staring right in his face was what looked to be a white floating text box, and it read.

YOU HAVE SLEPT IN YOU OWN BED.

HP AND MP HAVE BOTH BEEN RESTORED TO FULL.

ALL AILMENTS AND NEGATIVE STATUS CONDITIONS HAVE NOW BEEN RESTORED!

"What the hell is this?" Percy asks, bewildered, then he remembers last night's dinner.

"I really shouldn't have eaten those cafeteria mushrooms last night! 'Just try them,' Grover said, 'what's the worst that could happen?' Going crazy and seeing a floating box apparently!"

PING

FOR COMING TO A LOGICAL CONCLUSION +1 POINT TO INTELLIGENCE

Another box popped up replacing the first one. Percy looked at it for a good long while, just mulling over what he was seeing, before reaching out to touch it, and the box disappearing.

"If I'm already gonna have to deal with tripping then maybe I should try to have some fun with it before heading to the nurse?" Percy then got the fun idea to start saying nonsense until something else happens.

"Bird? Chicken? Golf? Clubs? Pokémon? Uhhh, Poison? Sleep? Stats?"

PING

Percy was cut off before he could finish spouting nonsense, with another text box reading.

Percy is a ? and is the son of Sally Jackson and ?. He has ADHD and Dyslexia, making it difficult for him to sit still and even harder for him to learn, due to words often moving around the page. Percy's behavior over the years has caused him to get into trouble, leading to multiple expulsions. Percy is unaware of who his father is, he only knows that he was lost at sea. Percy loves his mother more than anything else in the world, and hates his stepfather Gabe more than anything else. Percy currently believes he is high on cafeteria magic mushrooms.

Percy didn't feel so good after reading that, he should be freaking out, why wasn't he freaking out?

"Maybe I should go back to bed and hopefully when I wake up, I won't be tripping." Percy muttered before laying back down on his bed, falling asleep almost immediately…

"Percy, wake up man! You're gonna be late to class!" The familiar voice of Grover filled Percy's ears, and at the same time a familiar video game sound filled his ears.

PING

YOU HAVE SLEPT IN YOU OWN BED.

ALL AILMENTS AND NEGATIVE STATUS CONDITIONS HAVE NOW BEEN RESTORED!

Percy shot up so fast he hit his head on the roof above his bunk, both in shock of hearing the sound and seeing the text box again, and out of worry of not getting to class on time.

YOU HAVE TAKEN ONE DAMAGE!

Percy quickly swipes the box away and gets out of bed.

"Ouch, that looked like it hurt man, you alright?" Grover asked out of worry.

"Yeah, I'm fine, but did you hear like a weird pinging sound just now?" Percy asks while rushing around his room scrambling to put on some clean clothes.

"Nah man, are you sure you're alright? You must have hit your head pretty hard to start hearing things? Maybe you should head to the nurse?" Grover asks concern, filling his voice.

"Nah I must have been playing my Gameboy too late last night and I was dreaming about it or something." Percy lies pretty unconvincingly.

Percy didn't really have much time to think about the logistics of things, so he simply hit the YES box and bolted once he put his clothes on. Percy began running throughout the halls, luckily he remembered where his fist class was today, it was in his pre-algebra room. Unfortunately for him it was with Misses Dodds, his least favorite teacher who seemed to hate him just about as much as he hated her.

It seemed that whatever god was out there seemed to be smiling on percy this morning, because he managed to find his seat seconds before the bell rang.

With that Percy felt a little good about himself, no matter how crazy he may or may not be.

"Well, well, well, look who made it on time, Mr Jackson" Misses Dodds spat out.

And with that whatever good mood Percy had immediately dried up as he felt as if the devil himself was staring into his soul.

Percy mumbled something non-confrontational, and Misses Dodds turned on the next person who walked in the room, Grover, who somehow even after leaving before Percy managed to rock up after he did. Percy had never been so grateful to see Grover in his life.

"S-sorry Misses Dodds, I-uh, Mr Brunner wanted to talk to me before class." Grover stumbled out while handing Miss Dodds a note. Misses Dodds looked over it before growling out to sit down and to see her after class, with that she started the lesson.

Percy was pretty bored but didn't want to get on Misses Dodds' bad side so he tried to pay as much attention as he could, and surprisingly he was able to pay attention for most of the lesson.

Oddly there wasn't a no button for this quest unlike the first one, and frankly Percy didn't have anything better to do, so after class Percy decided to head to the one person he knew that could possibly help him: Chazz, one of the nerdier kids who didn't really stick out and spent the majority of his time playing video games or studying, the only reason Percy even knew him was because they sometimes traded Pokémon on their old Gameboys, but didn't really hang out much nowadays because Percy only had the og Gameboy while Chazz got the new one and well they stopped spending so much time together after that.

In the cafeteria Percy pushed his way through the crowd, oddly not feeling hungry, looking for Chazz. He saw him sitting alone at a table playing his Gameboy Advance. Percy slid onto the chair in front of Chazz.

"Hey Chazz, how's it going?" Percy asked with all the smoothness of a 12 year old.

"Huh? Oh, Percy it's you, it's going ok. So, what do you need?" Chazz responds not even looking up from his GBA.

"I was wondering if you could help me? I uh recently started playing a game but I have no idea how to play it. Could you help?" Percy asked nervously.

"What kind of game is it?" Chazz asks finally looking up from his GBA.

"I don't really know? What kind of games are there? All I know is there's this stat page thing and that's all I really know." Percy responds hoping Chazz buys it.

"God damn it's like you've never played a game before!" Chazz barks out.

"Yeah, well I've really only played Pokémon." Percy snaps back, his face going a bit red.

"Yeah, whatever man, it sounds like an rpg to me, you should have a stat menu which you already figured out, a skill page and an inventory, you kill things and do quests to get experience points and you should get free points when you level up, save them because you might need them later, and that's about it." Chazz responds.

"How do I level up my stats without putting points in them?" Percy asks after digesting that word vomit.

"You do things that relate to your stats, if you want to get stronger go lift some weights or a big rock, want to be smarter? Go read a book, so on and so forth" Chazz responds before going back down to his GBA. Percy, taking this as his signal to leave, does so, but not before thanking Chazz, who responds by saying it was nothing.

Percy swipes the box away making a mental note to check out his stats later and manages to find an empty table after grabbing a Sloppy Joe and a bottle of water.

"This is crazy but, Inventory" Percy barely whispers.

A blank white box appeared in front of Percy.

'If this is my inventory then I should be able to just put stuff in there, right?' Percy thought before checking if anyone was looking, after seeing the cost was clear he hesitantly put his Sloppy Joe to the floating box. Suddenly the Joe disappears and on the box the words Sloppy Joe appear. Percy does a double take, finally understanding that maybe he isn't tripping balls, and his life is now like a video game.

Percy looks around before chucking his bottled water in his inventory watching it simply disappear. Percy stares at the white box for about five minutes before a new notification pops up.

A pocket dimension that has a stasis field applied on anything put inside.

Percy wasn't sure what a stasis field was, he would have to look that up later or ask Grover, but had determined that he wasn't crazy, and this was in fact reality and he now was some sort of video game character or something?

"Eh I guess this is real, might as well enjoy it while I can. Skills?"

Another text box appeared, this time one with a list of what was apparently his skills.

GAMERS MIND - LEVEL MAX

One of the many lines stuck out to Percy, was the one about him smelling like fish and chips to MONSTERS?

'Monsters are real? Well, I guess it's not too much of a stretch considering I am apparently some sort of a video game character.'

Authors notes

Hey all and thank you for reading my latest story, I've been meaning to get back into writing for a while but every time I tried to go back to my old stories I just couldn't because of frankly how poorly I wrote them, they might have had some decent concepts but I just lost passion for them as time went on. So here I am trying something new, I am actually going to plan this story out and work on it in advance instead of just pumping out shit without planning ahead. My plan is to have some somewhat vague goals for the story to end and therefore the endgame for the story if I ever get to that point. I also want to have written the next chapter before posting the one I have finished and yes by the time you're reading this hopefully the second chapter will be either done or very close to done and I'll have a rough idea on what will happen in the third chapter.

PS i have got a reference system set out for y'all to have a frame of reference so check it out

PPS Percy's stats will be posted at the bottom of every chapter just so you know where he's at strength wise because I hate when I read a gamer story and I have no clue how strong the main character is because the author only has the stats once every 2 - 3 chapters.

Level 2

Experience (00/100)

HP: 60/60

MP: 40/40

Strength: 6

Dexterity: 3

Vitality: 6

Intelligence: 4

Wisdom: 6

Charisma: 2

Luck: 3

Points: 5

Strength:

How strong you are. An ordinary adult human's strength would be at like 15 - 20. A gym junkie would be at 25 - 40. A body builder would be in between 50 - 70. Demigods are inherently stronger than humans so when they hit their early teens they would start out with gym junkie levels of strength and a late teen would be a bodybuilder levels of strength (exceptions with children of war gods and children of the big three all of which having vastly more) unlike normal humans demigods don't have a cap on strength, look to heracles for an example.

Dexterity:

How good you are with your hands, how good you are at picking locks and sleight of hand. An ordinary adult human would have a dexterity of 10 - 15. An adult basketball player would be in between 15 - 25 depending on the level of professional they got to. And magicians (cheesy ones not people with magic) would range from 20 - 45. Demigods inherently will have a slightly higher dex score, Children of Hermes and Hephaestus and Athena would have a higher score then the average demigod because of their godly abilities. Most demigods do have a cap on their dexterity, but its so high that it really isn't a cap, level cap for most demigods 500.

Vitality:

How much energy you have, how much stamina you have, how much health you will have. An ordinary adult human's vitality would be 20 - 30, a professional athlete would be 35 - 50 and a marathon runner would be between 70 - 85. All demigods by their early teens have professional athlete levels of vitality, and by the time they are leaving their teens they would surpass most marathon runners. Children of Hermes, Demeter, Dionysus Apollo and the big three all have even more than the average demigod. There is no cap for a demigod's vitality, until they hit the age of 150, then it slowly starts to deteriorate, unless the demigod in question is incredibly strong.

HP Calculated 10 x Vit until vit hits level 10 then it becomes 15 x vit. every ten levels it increases by 5

Intelligence:

How smart you are, how much mana you have, as well as manna recovery rates. An average High school graduate will have an intelligence score of 25. The average college graduate has a range between 35 - 60 depending on what they studied of course, the scientists will range between 70 - 120. Demigods in their early teens will have about as much intelligence as someone their age roughly being in the range of 10 - 15, and a demigod in their late teens will have a low end college graduate range 35 - 45, with exceptions for children of Athena, Hades and Hecate all of which having a higher than average score. There is no cap for humans or demigods.

MP Calculated 10 x Int until wis hits level 10 then it becomes 15 x wis. every ten levels it increases by 5

Wisdom:

How much street smarts you got, how much real world experience you have. The average adult human will range from 15 - 25. The average 50 year old will range from 30 - 40. An experienced homeless person will range from 50 - 75. A demigod in their early teens will have around 15 in wisdom, while a demigod in their late teens (early 20s) will have roughly a 50 in wisdom, with the exception of, the children of Athena and Ares. There is no level cap for demigods.

Charisma:

How much rizz you got, how attractive you are to other people to some extent, how well you can convince someone of something, how well you can create or defuse tension. The average adult will have a range of 25 - 50. A politician would have a charisma score ranging in the 70 - 120. The average demigod in their early teens would have a range of 15 - 25 while a demigod in their late teens and early twenties would have roughly a range of 50 - 70, with the noticeable exceptions of children of big three and children of Aphrodite being far above the average demigod. There is no level cap.

Luck:

How lucky you are, loot drops, money ect. The average adult being in the range of 10 - 25 and a lottery winner in the range of 70 - 100. Demigods will have slightly worse luck then normal because they are constantly being chased by monsters and that's not lucky at all so by default they get shit luck, the only exception are children of Tyche, Nike and Nemesis, ect.
