Episode 01: Heroes vs. Villains
The scene opened on a close-up of a manila envelope being carried in the familiar black-skinned hand of Chef Hatchet. A loud crashing noise like a heavy door being shut opened in turn for a low but tense musical score which was quickly joined by a metallic clatter and a low murmur as a cut outward revealed the place as a prison corridor. Chef was being led by a mustachioed white male guard through grimy and trash-filled halls lined with darkened cells, and the shadowed men inside watched the passing visitor with interest.
"I'm innocent, I tell you! Innocent!" one of the inmates shouted, revealed to be the formerly escaped killer with a chainsaw and a hook. Chef and the guard ignored both him and the older, skinnier man sharing his cell who made kissy-face at them.
"The Crusty Cockroaches have a big lead over the Soiled Stinkbugs!" a familiar yet muffled voice rang through the halls, causing Chef's brow to shoot up as the camera moved in front of him.
"Cram it, McLean!" another man said, descending into raucous laughter as Chef gave him an annoyed side-eye.
At last, the visitor came upon a special cell, one with reinforced glass walls, a mail slot in the door, an electronic lock, and a security camera watching the entrance. It seemed surprisingly well-furnished, sporting a curtain over the window to the outside, a pair of familiar bobble-heads on a shelf next to the toilet, and a pair of paintings along the back wall – the smaller depicting a familiar golden statuette; the larger depicting an aerial view of Wawanakwa Island.
"Ooh! Anne Maria slips past Tyler!" the cell's white male inhabitant said, hunched over in front of the door and focused on something at his feet. "The heat is on! Yeah! Look at that! That's what I'm talking about!" The camera cut inside to show what he was watching – a stink bug and a cockroach sitting almost motionless on the ground.
Chef's shadow fell over the bugs, prompting Chris McLean to stand back up. "Well, well, well," he said, hands on his hips as the camera behind him showed him standing proudly in his orange jumpsuit. "Look who finally came to visit me," he said in annoyance.
"Come on. You've finished your sentence for dumping toxic waste and endangering people with robotic animals," Chef told him with mild annoyance of his own.
"Whatever," Chris said stubbornly, crossing his arms and looking away. "Think I'll stay right here. Got everything I need," he added brightly, "including Chef 2.0!" he said, holding up a nut with the vague shape of Chef's head, and an approximation of the man's face drawn on with black marker. "I made him from a cashew," Chris explained proudly.
The real Chef merely slid his envelope through the slot in the cell's glass door. "What's this?" Chris asked as he took it.
"Your contract!" Chef answered. "The producers have greenlit another season! So?" he asked expectantly, the camera finally showing his face again. "You in?"
"It is ON!" Chris answered excitedly, the light gleaming off his teeth.

The episode proper opened with a drumroll into a grandiose theme as the scene faded into a long-distance shot of Wawanakwa Island, the lake water glittering under the shining sun and a flock of geese flying in formation far in the background.
"Welcome, to Total Drama All-Stars!" Chris opened, the shot then cutting to him on the slightly-shabby Dock of Shame. "After my involuntary year-long 'vacation'," he explained with air quotes, "I really need to be in a familiar environment, surrounded by the people I love..." He smiled at the camera for a moment, then added "to hurt!" with a dark grin and a round of laughter. "It's a condition of my parole," he explained. "Except for the hurt part, heh, that's all McLean!" he said proudly.
He walked left towards the end of the dock, picking up a certain briefcase from the floor as he passed it by. "So, I'm bringing back twenty-one TD All-Stars to battle it out in the most dangerous, death-defying," he held up the briefcase and opened it up for the camera to get a close-up of the prize money within, "one million dollar competition ev-er!" The sound of a helicopter approaching preceded the wind kicked up by its arrival overhead, a few stray notes of prize money blown away before the shot cut back outward and the host closed the case. "And here they are now!" he said, looking upward expectantly as the shot cut up to a double-rotor helicopter as it descended a few feet.
"From Pahkitew Island say hello to…" Chris began as the helicopter door opened to reveal Justin, who was then pushed off the helicopter by Chef.
"Eye Candy Justin."
"My hair's gonna get wet!" Justin screamed as he fell down into the water.
"Charming Spaniard Alejandro."
"It'll be interesting competing against these casts!" Alejandro said before jumping off gracefully.
"Outback Girl Jasmine."
"Good thing I'm not scared of heights!" Jasmine said before jumping.
"Moody Goth Girl Gwen."
"Bring it!" Gwen said as Chef threw her off the helicopter.
"Sporty But Klutzy Tyler."
"It's Tyler time!" Tyler yelled happily as he did a cannonball.
"Soulful Surfer Bridgette."
"Ready to try again," Bridgette smiled before exiting.
"And Pushover Turned Powerhouse Zoey."
"A landing would have been nice," Zoey commented before being kicked out by Chef.
"From Revenge Of The Island, we have Party Guy Geoff."
"CANNONBALL!!" Geoff yelled out and performed the action.
"Cheerleading Softie Sammy."
Sammy looked concerned and then began diving out of the helicopter. "I better not die!"
"Brainy Woman Scarlett!"
Scarlett soon began speaking. "If I calculate this right, I can-"
Scarlett was kicked by Chef, causing her to fall off the helicopter.
"Music Man Trent."
"This is not safe!" Tyler said as Chef dropped him, sending him falling.
"Challenge Throwing Dirt Farmer Scott!"
Scott was seen clinging to Chef's leg. "I want to land, not fall!" Scott said before Chef forced him off of him, letting him fall into the water.
"Tan In A Can Anne Maria."
Chef was seen carrying Anne Maria, "Let me go!" Anne Maria said angrily before she was dropped in the water.
"And Mama's Boy DJ."
"Chris, are you sure there aren't any sharks down there?!" DJ asked before Chef body slammed him out of the helicopter.
"And from our original cast, Bossy Bruiser Jo."
Chef holds one of Jo's legs while Jo is upside down.
"You're a dead man, McLean!" Jo yelled before Chef let go of her, sending her into the water.
"Cynical Bookworm Noah."
"Here we go again!" Noah said as he fell into the water.
"Devious Diva Heather."
"I hate Chris!" Heather screamed as she fell.
"Lovable Blonde Lindsay."
"I wish I could fly right now!" Lindsay screamed as she fell.
"Short Geek Cody."
"I'm more than just that!" Cody shouted as he fell in the water.
"Wannabe Host Topher."
"It can still happen!" Topher yelled and fell.
"And finally, Total Drama's Psycho Wild Child Izzy!"
"Let's fly!" Izzy yelled as she jumped off the helicopter.
Everyone screamed in fear and swam away from Izzy before she made a big splash.
Chris chuckled. "Man, it's great to be back!"
\
The footage skipped ahead to show all twenty-one members of the new cast scattered on the beach. They were drenched and exhausted, with only some still able to be standing.
"Greetings, old friends," Chris told the coughing and groaning teens as he and Chef arrived.
Alejandro coughed up a starfish. "We are not your amigos," he told the host.
"Yeah," Justin chimed in. "Some of us have enemies." The two men scowled at each other.
The camera panned from them to Anne Maria, DJ and Sammy. "I thought Katie and Molly were going to come back to the island," Anne Maria started the conversation.
"Molly told me she has a camping trip to go to, so she's too busy to compete," Sammy said.
"Katie has her vlogging channel to attend to, and she doesn't want to take another long hiatus from it," DJ added.
"That's hard, but I do hope they're doing well," Anne Maria responded.
Confessional: Anne Maria
"Now that the island is free of any toxic waste, I don't have to worry about gettin' mutated or somethin' like that," Anne Maria confessed.
Confessional Ends
The footage cut back to Chris as he looked over the beach with his usual smile. "With everybody all settled," he said, the shot briefly cutting outward to show the campers watching him, "I can now announce all the big changes we've got for this season!" he said excitedly. "For one, the island is now 100% toxic waste free."
"Awesome!" Geoff cheered.
"On the upside," Chris continued, "I've upgraded your accommodations." The shot cut over to a widescreen television being wheeled over on a cart by Chef. "This season, the loser teams still have to sleep in a stanky old cabin," Chris explained, walking over to the television as an image of three cabins identical to the ones used in previous seasons appeared on it. The unseen cast groaned in disappointment.
"Better than sleeping on the floor," Tyler shrugged.
"But, the winning team," Chris continued as the live cabins feed began to zoom out, slowly revealing a magnificently large building styled almost like a high-class bed-and-breakfast, "get to stay at the all-new, eco-friendly, McLean Spa Hotel!" he finished as the shot cut to Bridgette, Justin, DJ, Anne Maria, Cody, and Heather beginning to smile. "Complete with butler, hot tub, and 24-hour masseuse," Chris said, provoking delighted cheers from the campers both on and off the screen.
"And in honor of your All-Star status," the host continued once the celebration had died down, "I'm dividing you into teams based on your past performances: Heroes, versus Neutrals, versus Villains!"
Confessional: Jo
"Obviously, I'll be on the villains team," Jo told the camera. "I was the first ever villain, and I'll be taking charge by lunch!"
Confessional: Gwen
"Heroes, neutrals, and villains?" Gwen asked the confessional. "I know which team I'll be on."
Confessional: Sammy
"Hopefully I'm on the team of heroes," Sammy confessed. "I haven't done anything bad."
Confessionals End
"For the heroes team, we have: Bridgette, DJ, Geoff, Jasmine, Lindsay, Sammy, and Tyler. You are all the Heroic Hamsters!" Chris said happily to the seven heroes now on the left of the area.
"It's nice to meet all of you," Jasmine smiled.
"I'm sure we'll all make a great team," Lindsay said.
Confessional: Geoff
"So I now realized that Anne Maria's not on the same team as me," Geoff confessed. "It's a bummer, considering I want to hang with her more, but I'll get over it."
Confessional: Bridgette
"Me and Tyler are on the same team again," Bridgette smiled. "After Pahkitew Island ended, we didn't get as many opportunities to go out on dates since we lived far away, but this'll make up for any lost time."
Confessional: Tyler
"Not only am I with Bridgette, but I even get some cool people on my team," Tyler cheered. "Can you say anything other than sick?"
Confessional: Jasmine
"Hopefully, I can run things with my teammates much better than I did in Pahkitew," Jasmine told the outhouse. "I trusted Alejandro over Cameron, and that nearly cost me the competition."
Confessionals End
"Anywho, for the neutrals team we have: Anne Maria, Cody, Gwen, Izzy, Noah, Trent, and Zoey. You are all now dubbed the Neutral Narwhals!" Chris told the next seven contestants who were now in the middle of the area.
"Wait a minute, why am I on the neutrals team?" Trent asked.
"Me too," Zoey added.
"All of you are just not heroic enough, and a couple of you are attracted to the villains," Chris grinned.
Confessional: Zoey
"Chris likely saw my Commando phase as me not being a complete angel," Zoey confessed. "But hey, I could've been placed on the evil team if my luck was rotten."
Confessional: Izzy
"I thought I would be on the villains team, considering that I rammed off a bus filled with people and have a criminal record," Izzy murmured.
Confessional: Noah
"If there's one benefit to being on this team, it's that I get to be with Izzy," Noah commented. "We're incomplete without Owen and Eva, but we'll manage through."
Confessional: Cody
"I'll admit I was a bit creepy in the first season, but I've outgrown that," Cody said.
Confessionals End
"Finally for the villains team we have: Alejandro, Heather, Jo, Justin, Scarlett, Scott, Topher. You are now the Villainous Vultures," Chris told the last members of the cast.
"Seriously?" Topher cried out.
"Hey, you blew up my plane, and you assisted a psychopath for a while as well," Chris reprimanded.
Confessional: Topher
"I know I did some messed up things, but I lost my hair, got put in a wheelchair, and I helped Izzy and Ezekiel against Mal," Topher stated. "That should give me some points."
Confessional: Alejandro
"I'm on a team with antagonistic individuals that have preceded me. They'll be hard to manipulate, but I can turn the other teams against each other," Alejandro smirked.
Confessional: Heather
"There's a lot about Alejandro I just don't like," Heather spat out. "He's so fake, so transparent, so…"
Confessional: Scarlett
"In case you're wondering, I made amends with Sammy and Molly offscreen after our season ended," Scarlett stated. "I'm aware of my actions that got me on the villains team, and I found a way to improve on them."
Confessionals End
Meanwhile, the twenty-one contestants had started to walk to their cabins to get settled in before Chris started the first challenge of the season.
Jo walked ahead of Heather. Heather pushed Jo out of the way and strutted forward. "Move it, sweatpants," Heather snarled as she pushed Jo away.
"Watch it, Past Baldgirl," Jo snarked to Heather.
"Getting into fights already?" Alejandro joked. "No wonder you two are arch-enemies."
Gwen and Izzy were walking together and Gwen decided to start up a conversation with Izzy. "So Izzy, what brings you back to Total Drama All Stars? You did win a season," Gwen said.
"And I love that season," Izzy chuckled. "But to be serious, I just want to compete again, and if I'm lucky, I can win for the second time. And you?"
"I was brought back because the contestants that were originally supposed to be here were occupied," Gwen said. "I'm surprised considering that I was kicked off early last season, but if it means I get to be with a certain girl again, I won't complain," she said as she focused her attention on Zoey, who smiled back at her.
"And I know that this certain girl happens to be redheaded and has a Commando side," Izzy smirked, causing Gwen to roll her eyes.
Bridgette and DJ were walking together. "It's nice to meet you, DJ," Bridgette smiled at the gentle giant. "What brought you back?"
"I just wanted to improve on my performance," DJ said to the surfer girl. "Being eliminated with tied votes as someone is pretty embarrassing."
"Oh yeah. Sorry you all lost to Scott in your season. Can't believe a villain actually won," Bridgette said sympathetically.
"Me too, but if Scott can improve on himself, I'd be less disappointed, considering that he has a crush on Trent," DJ responded.
Confessional: DJ
"Nobody likes when a bad-tempered person wins over the more morally good ones," DJ quoted. "But luckily, it was only a one-time thing, and afterwards, a villain got eliminated before they could reach the final three."
Confessional Ends.
Trent and Zoey turned to see Scott trying to smile at Trent. "I think Scott is smiling at you," Zoey told Trent.
"It appears so," Trent shrugged amicably.
"How do you still feel about him?" Zoey wondered.
"He and I are still good friends even after the events of last season," Trent told the red head.
"You two are polar opposites, but it's the same for me and Gwen," Zoey replied.
"Uh, we're not a couple if that's what you're implying," Trent smirked.
"I know that," Zoey said. "I'm saying that it'll be hard for you two to talk to each other since you're on different teams."
"We can socialize when there isn't a challenge going on," Trent shrugged it off.
Confessional: Trent
"People think I'm crazy for liking Scott, but compare that to getting superpowers from toxic waste, and you'll retract that statement," Trent said.
Confessional: Scott
"I used to think that musicians are boring, but after I met Trent, I began to think otherwise," Scott grinned. "Guitarists can be really cool."
Confessionals End
The twenty-one teens had all went to their cabins and began to unpack and mentally prepare themselves for the first challenge.
Cody, Noah, and Trent were looking at their bunk beds in their cabin. "So how are we gonna go about with the sleeping arrangements?" Trent asked first.
"I know I'm gonna take the top bunk," Noah said. "I don't want to risk getting crushed in my sleep."
"How about we sleep in our own bunks?" Cody suggested. "There's three of us, and unlike the first season, the cabins aren't overcrowded."
"I didn't realize that until now," Noah grinned. "Sharing a room with just the two of you will be less stressful than sharing with four others."
Trent moved to the back of the cabin and laid his guitar out on his bed. "Cool guitar you got there, Trent," Cody smiled.
"Thanks, man," Trent said back.
"Aren't you worried it might get stolen again?" Noah questioned the musician.
"I found a way to make sure that doesn't happen," Trent said. "Rather than leaving it on the floor, I'm gonna stash it under my blanket and wrap it around my body, making it harder to be taken from me."
Confessional: Trent
"Scott stole my guitar from me as a way to get Leshawna eliminated. I apologized to Leshawna for accusing her of theft, and I made Scott promise to never take my things without my permission," Trent confirmed.
Confessional Ends
Zoey was in the middle of unpacking her things before being interrupted by Anne Maria spraying her hair, and she coughed due to the hairspray's fumes.
"Anne Maria, how much hairspray did you bring onto this island?" Zoey coughed.
Anne Maria noticed her plight and stopped spraying her hair. "I packed so much, I didn't even count."
"Not to be mean, but can you make sure the fumes don't surround any of us?" Zoey requested. "It'll make us cough profusely."
"Alright, but you should ask if you want to borrow my hairspray, or else we'll have a problem," Anne Maria said.
Izzy was currently relaxing on her own bed. "So this is what it feels like to be in a bunk bed," she smiled. "I didn't compete in the first season, so I was missing out."
Gwen was below her and writing in her diary. "I slept in a bunk bed during the last season. It's nothing new for me," she said.
"Uh, what are you writing in that journal?" Izzy pointed at the diary.
"It's a diary, not a journal, and what I write is super private to me," Gwen said.
Confessional: Izzy
"This is my first time being on Camp Wawanakwa," Izzy gleamed. "I'm a little disappointed that the radioactiveness is gone away entirely. I would've loved to be a mutant probably, or have multiple arms," the wild child chuckled.
"My teammates are fine, but I do wish Owen and Eva were here with me and Noah," she continued. "We'd likely be on the same team as well."
Confessional Ends
"So Heather, still in the game even though your Cody-Wody is on another team?" Jo asked mockingly, much to Heather's irritation. "I gotta admit, I didn't expect anyone to date you."
"At least my boyfriend isn't absolutely paranoid like Shawn is," Heather growled at the jock-ette. "I also didn't expect anyone to date you as well, and unlike mine, your guy isn't even competing this season."
"Shawn refused to come back for this season," Jo sniffed. "He doesn't want to distract me from becoming a millionaire like him, and love is a big distraction."
"You can say that again," Heather huffed.
"Personally, relationships are more pointless than anything. They'll only hinder you here," Scarlett rolled her eyes while reading a book.
Confessional: Scarlett
"It is sad when you realize that such powerful players have been held back by a tadpole and a lunatic," Scarlett said. "Oh well, it only helps my game."
Confessional Ends
Meanwhile, Justin and Topher were arguing over who gets to sleep where.
"I need to sleep closer to the window so my natural beauty can shine through it," Justin said angrily.
"Please. You're practically the beta hot guy of this cast. I will take the bed near the window," Topher scoffed.
"You're BOTH pathetic right now," Scott rolled his eyes. "Just pick a bed and shut up."
"Gentleman, let us not deprive ourselves into animals," Alejandro smirked charmingly yet condescendingly and everyone knew it was that way. "We don't know each other much, but surely we can make a compromise."
"Sorry, but do you think we're followers, Alejandro. We all know what you did in Pahkitew," Topher crossed his arms with a stoic expression.
"Yeah, we're not dumb," Scott smirked at the Spaniard.
Confessional: Justin
"Outstanding!" Justin laughed. "Alejandro has practically lost all standing in this game! Now it's my turn to be the alpha male," the eye candy grinned. "Then we'll see who's the beta of this show."
Confessional Ends
Tyler was just about to climb onto the top bunk of the bed when a bag was thrown on top of it, causing Tyler to fall off.
"Sorry about that, dude," Geoff apologized and helped the tracksuit boy up.
"What's even inside your bag?" Tyler wondered.
"All the things we need to have a rocking party in here," Geoff started taking out items from his bag. "A boombox, 100 cans of soda, snacks, and a disco ball."
"With what you brought, it'll take a lot of time for us to tidy up," DJ commented.
"Tidy up?" Geoff repeated.
"Just because we don't own this cabin, doesn't mean we should leave it as a dump," DJ said. "My mama taught me to clean up after myself cause cleanliness is next to godliness."
Both Geoff and Tyler shot glances at each other. "I don't quite understand that," Tyler said.
Confessional: DJ
"I'm all for partying and chilling out with friends, but I can't disobey my mama like that," DJ said. "She respects me heavily, and I give her the same amount of respect, if not more."
Confessional Ends
"So you're a cheerleader as well?" Sammy spoke to Lindsay as they unpacked while Bridgette was shining her surfboard.
"Of course. I was even promoted to head cheerleader when our old one stepped down from that role," Lindsay said.
"That's great, but I don't want to be a leader in my own cheer squad," Sammy explained. "That'd be too much responsibility."
"I understand how you feel," Lindsay responded. "Me and Beth allow Amy to take charge whenever we're in an activity. She has more experience in being captain of her volleyball team than I do in general."
Jasmine entered the cabin. "Hey, girls," she greeted. "I'm here to inform you two that I won't be sleeping in this cabin."
"Why not?" Bridgette asked.
"I'm not used to bunking indoors, and I did well enough sleeping on top of a branch," Jasmine explained. "On the plus side, you girls get your own bunks."
Confessional: Lindsay
"Who even sleeps outside when it could rain, snow, sleet, or even hail?" Lindsay wondered. "I'm so glad roofs were even invented in the first place, but I hope nothing terrible happens to Jasmine if she gets rained on."
Confessional Ends
"Attention victims, I mean, contestants. Meet me at the top of the cliff for the very first challenge of this All-Stars season!" Chris announced through the loudspeaker as everyone looked at each other worried about how Chris was going to torture them this time.
"Wait! Shouldn't we change into our swimsuits first?" DJ called out to the speaker.
"Sorry, but there's no time!" Chris announced back.
