***Hi everyone! I'm back with another BakugoxIzuku fic. Some of you may be wondering why I haven't finished Red & Black. The truth is, I had some feedback from readers who found the subject matter upsetting, and it killed the desire to write it. I don't want to upset my readers.

***Hopefully, this one will be more positive for readers! I don't expect it to be too long of a fic, but I have said that in the past and have been wrong, lol!

***Also, this is an AU Steampunk style, A/O/B universe, which I put my own spin on, so take it for what it is.

***The only sex scenes in this fic will be with Bakugo and Izuku.

***Warnings: Language, mpreg dynamics, PTSD moments, war talk, angst, mention of prostitution

***So please, read on and enjoy!

Summary: After losing his job in a dye factory, Izuku and his infant son are left in dire straits. The boy's alpha father, Shoto, doesn't seem to want anything to do with them, leaving Izuku alone and without anyone. But Shoto does help them by giving Izuku directions to Sheriff Bakugo's house, where he will get a job as a personal house servant to Bakugo.

But Bakugo is a harsh man suffering from forms of PTSD from his time in the war when a mistake he made cost him the life of his mate, Kirishima, and most of his troops. Bakugo hates himself for letting Kirishima get killed, and now he suffers from blindness in one eye and is hard of hearing. He lashes out at Izuku often, but when the omega starts to calm him through his episodes, Bakugo's rough exterior begins to fade.

Izuku is missing the touch of an alpha, and Bakugo needs the touch of an omega. Izuku makes it his goal to help Bakugo heal from his suffering, even if it means giving over his body to the struggling alpha. Bakugo doesn't want help, love, or friendship until the green-haired omega comes into his life and threatens to change all that. The war doesn't seem to be ending anytime soon, and someone knows the true reason why Bakugo was discharged from the war. If word got out, Bakugo would lose everything. Can they both heal from their heartbreak and find solace in each other?

Chapter 1

Izuku paused in his stirring to wipe the sweat from his brow. The large pot of green dye water was unbearably hot today, but the clothes needed to be ready by tomorrow. He is forced to pause again when his infant son, strapped to his back, begins to whine. Izuku lifts the baby from his back to hold the boy in one arm and mix with the other, which isn't an easy task. Hisashi wasn't looking well today, and Izuku feared that the boy was getting sick. He had no money for a doctor's visit because he had to pay his rent after work today, which was late.

He wondered if Hisachi was hungry, so he tucked the baby under his shirt, hoping to get him to latch on. The baby didn't and started to whine some more. Izuku took him out and stopped mixing, so he could hold Hisashi with both hands. If the foramen caught him doing this, he would be in trouble.

That's when the factory owner took his megaphone and called for everyone's attention. Izuku continued to soothe Hisashi while listening to the announcement. The owner delivered terrible news, and Izuku felt his blood run cold, and his heart sank to his stomach. They were all being let go because the factory was bringing in machines to stir the dyes instead. The workers responded with roars of outrage and curses, but the owner didn't care. They were all told to leave and that their termination would be effective starting today.

Izuku stood there, dumbfounded, while the people started pouring out of the factory. He had just lost his job, and nowhere else would hire an omega with an infant. Izuku had been fortunate to find this job and worked through all of his pregnancy. He had come in every day, no matter the time or weather, and worked from sun up to sun down without complaint. His hands and forearms were stained green from all the time working with dye. How could they have done this to over fifty people who depend solely on this job to live and who were working very hard for long hours to meet the quotas?

Eventually, Izuku walked outside into the cold weather with his son to join the others as the doors closed. The sound echoed in Izuku's ears like a jailhouse door. He couldn't hold back the silent tears falling down his cheeks, which froze in the cold. Little by little, the crowd of now-unemployed people dispersed, leaving Izuku to be the last one to leave. He couldn't fathom that he had lost his job. How was he going to pay the rent now? If Hisashi is sick, how can he pay for a doctor? It was winter, snow was on the ground, and the nights were bitter cold. He and his son would not survive for long. The landlord threatened to evict him if he couldn't pay by today, and he had no money. He had enough for some food, but that was it. What was he going to do?

Needing to shield Hisashi from the cold, Izuku returned to his little apartment above a barber shop. He had to wait for a train to pass before crossing into the city's 'bad side.' Crime was rampant here, but it was the only area in the city that was cheap to live in. He would try to reason with the landlord, and maybe the man would have pity on him because he just lost his job through no fault of his own.

But when he got there, the landlord was waiting, and he did not want to hear Izuku's 'sob story.' Izuku offered to pay what he had left, but the landlord would not accept it. After that, Izuku had to pack up what little he had, so he filled his tattered duffle bag with blankets and cloth for Hisashi. Now he had nowhere to go, and he and his son were out on the streets in the snow.

There was one place he could try, but he wasn't sure if Shoto would be there or if he even cared. Still, he was going to try. Keeping Hisashi wrapped up inside his coat with an extra blanket, Izuku hurried as fast as he could to the Todoroki mansion in the 'good side' of the city. When he got there, the gates were closed, so he rang the intercom. A voice asked who he was, and Izuku asked to speak with Shoto to tell him that he was there. There was a long pause, but then they said that Shoto was overseas and could not see him.

Izuku's heart sank for the third time today. How could Shoto forget him? They had been lovers, and Shoto upped and left him when he found out he was pregnant with Hisashi. Shoto had said that he needed to study overseas and wouldn't know when he would be back. Izuku, like an idiot, believed him. Now he was certain Shoto was here, but he wasn't coming to see him. Izuku wouldn't even try with Shoto's father, Enji Todoroki, because that man had a hold on his son that was unbreakable. Enji never wanted his son running around with a 'peasant omega.' But some part of him, deep down, couldn't believe that Shoto was that cold-hearted to abandon their child. Izuku could handle giving Hisashi over to the Todorokis to take care of the boy, but he doubted they would. For Enji Todoroki to acknowledge his grandchild, he would have to accept him and Shoto as a pair. But they weren't a bonded pair, Shoto never did that, and Izuku just assumed he would eventually. He was wrong.

"Come on, Hisashi… let's go,"

"Wait!"

Izuku turned back around to see a servant running towards him. The young woman was holding a piece of folded paper. She slipped it to Izuku through the gate.

"I was told to give you this," she said. "Go to the address on that paper, and then give it to the person there."

Izuku looked at the paper, wondering what it was, but the servant already turned to leave, running back into the mansion. Izuku unfolded the paper and read the address with a gulp. The address was for Sheriff Katsuki Bakugo's house. He's never had a run-in with the 'Fiery Sheriff' but has seen others; the sheriff was a looming, threatening, zero-tolerance alpha. The man could make omegas swoon, their natures drawn to the strength and aura of such a strong alpha. But why would they give him this address? Izuku decided to read the rest of the writing on the paper.

Please give Izuku Midoriya a job at your home. This makes us even. - T

"What do they mean by this? Did…Shoto write it? Or one of his siblings?" Izuku glanced back at the house, wishing that he could see Shoto. In the distance, he heard rounds of gunfire. The war between the cities wouldn't even cease for the cold of winter. If he didn't have Hisashi, then he likely would have joined the soldiers and fought for their independence. Shoto had been 'sent' overseas so that he wouldn't have to be drafted. If the war got closer to the city, he would have more problems than finding a place to live. With a heavy sigh and one last look at Shoto's house, he left.

Izuku stood outside Sheriff Katsuki Bakugo's house, staring at the large building, though it wasn't nearly as big as the Todorokis. He hesitated going up to the door, but Hisashi was shivering. It doesn't matter what he fears or what he thinks; his son comes first, and he would do anything for Hisashi. Izuku rang the doorbell and waited. The door flew open, and an angry woman stormed violently past him, nearly knocking him back. The force of it made Hisashi let out a little cry.

"I QUIT! I QUIT! I QUIIIIIIIT!" The woman shouted at the top of her lungs.

"GOOD! YOU SUCKED AT THE JOB ANYWAY, YOU OLD HAG! I HOPE YOU GET HIT BY A TRAIN!"

Izuku just stood there with a bewildered expression, and Hisashi was staring at Bakugo.

"What the hell do you want, nerd?!"

Before Izuku could answer, Hisashi burst out crying.

"SHUT UP, KID!"

Hisashi stopped immediately and hid his face in Izuku's chest.

"Um…he-hello," Izuku could sense the alpha's strong aura, and he wanted to bear his neck to the other but didn't. "I'm Izuku Midoriya, and I was told to give you this," he held the paper out to Bakugo.

Bakugo ripped it from his hands, read it, and sneered. "That bastard…" he turned to Izuku. "So, Deku, I'm supposed to give you a job?"

"Y-yes? I promise I'll work really, really hard! I don't eat much, and I don't complain!"

"I'm through with hiring losers! Get off my doorstep!" Bakugo tried to close the door, but something stopped him. It was that man's foot. "What the hell do you think you're doing? Move your stupid foot!"

"Please! Please give me a job!" Izuku begged him. "I have nowhere to go, and my son might be sick! Please let me work here! I'll do anything! Anything!"

"Don't beg! It's annoying! Move your stupid foot!"

"I WON'T UNTIL YOU GIVE ME A JOB HERE!"

Bakugo kicked Izuku's foot hard and slammed the door in his face. He locked the knob and ignored the knocking. He wasn't in the mood for this type of bullshit today. He had just lost his recent maid but granted, she was an old hag who complained too much. He wasn't a charity house! He didn't want to support an omega and a baby. Bakugo moved over to peek out the window and saw the omega crying. Deku stood in the lightly falling snow, holding a baby and crying. Deku's clothes were thin and tattered, his shoes had holes, and the floppy hat had a large tear. Bakugo felt a teeny tiny pull on his heartstrings. As an alpha, he can't let a single omega with a baby go out in the cold to die, especially if they are utterly helpless like Deku.

'Goddamnit…' he unlocked and threw open the door. "OKAY, FINE! I'LL GIVE YOU A JOB!" The omega's face lit up immediately, and the waterfall of tears stopped. "Just get in here!"

Izuku's heart beat rapidly with joy and relief. He walked past Bakugo, thanking him over and over again until Bakugo yelled at him to stop.

"First thing, can you clean?" Bakugo asked.

"Yes."

"Laundry?"

"Yes."

"Cooking?"

"Yes." Before he had worked in the dye factory, he had been a house servant for a wealthy older man, but when he died, Izuku was forced back on the streets, and he was newly pregnant with Hisashi.

"Good. I want this place to always be spotless! If I find one little spot you missed, I'll be pissed! I like to eat breakfast at seven and dinner at six. I have my nightly bath at seven. I want my clothes washed and made fresh every day before I leave for work. I want my sheets and bedding washed every two days and hung to dry. The floors are to be swept and mopped once a day. When I give you a list for the market, you buy ONLY what is on the list and nothing more. And if you break anything, I deduct it from your pay! Got all that, Deku?" He flicked the omega's forehead.

"Y-Yes sir, I understand,"

"Good! I don't like to repeat myself. I'll show you to your room."

"Um…thank you again so much for your kindness,"

Bakugo paused with a smirk. "Kindness? This isn't kindness, Deku. I need a servant, and you just happen to be here." He owed a debt to Shoto, but he wouldn't tell Deku about it. "By the way, if that kid cries too much and disrupts my sleep, both of you are OUT."

"Ye-yes sir,"

"Stop stuttering! It's annoying!"

Izuku nodded quietly and followed Bakugo to the basement, which had his new room. It was big enough for him to stay comfortably with Hisashi. It had a twin-size bed, a chest of drawers, a wood-burning stove, a separate, tiny bathroom with a small toilet and tub, and an empty four-tiered shelf. Izuku had nothing to put on the shelf, but he didn't need anything. This room was a hundred times better than the room he was renting. It was warm, too. The woman who had just left kept the stove burning, and Izuku could see the dancing flames of warmth behind the glass door. Izuku felt tears of happiness pour down his cheeks again, and he hugged Hisashi close to him. They were going to be safe and warm this winter!

"Mr. Bakugo, you don't know how much this means to me and my son! Thank you so much! I promise that I will work very hard all the time! I'll do anything you ask!" He didn't like the smirk that crossed Bakugo's face.

"Anything?" Bakugo took a step closer to him.

Izuku flushed softly, trying to look everywhere but at Bakugo. He knew what that look and those words meant; he was able to avoid prostitution all this time, but if that's what he had to do to stay here, then he would do it. Bakugo was an attractive male, and the first time Izuku saw him, he wanted to bear his neck. Sleeping with Bakugo wouldn't be something he would hate. In fact, he has been so lonely and craving intimate touch that he would go to bed with Bakugo right now.

"Y-yes…anything," Izuku repeated. "Even…that."

"Hmph. Get yourself washed up and dressed in better clothes. You smell like soot and shit, and your clothes are an eyesore. There are pants and a shirt in the dresser drawer. After you're done, come find me in the study."

Before he could say anything or thank Bakugo again, the alpha had already left, slamming the door. Izuku sniffed his shoulder and found that he was rancid. He took Hisashi with him into the tiny bathroom, staring at the bathtub that had actual running water! Balancing Hisashi on his hip, he turned on the hot water, then added some cold. He watched in awe as the tub filled with clear, fresh water. He undressed himself and Hisashi, getting into the tub with the baby. Hisashi made some gurgling noises as he splashed around in the tub. Izuku took the washcloth and added soap, then washed Hisashi. He washed himself afterward and was amazed by how much dirt, soot, and grime came off of him. The green dye, however, wouldn't come off his hands or arms. They were likely forever stained green. He washed his hair and let out a long sigh of contentment at finally being clean. Hisashi was happy as well, then he motioned for a feeding. Izuku fed him, and when the boy was done, he got them out of the bath and dressed in front of the wood stove.

He strapped Hisashi onto his back, pleased that the boy was already asleep and looking better. Izuku took a look at all the shelves of wine outside his room. He figured Sheriff Bakugo enjoyed wine. Izuku had never had wine before. Wine was for the rich. He didn't like the taste of gin or ale, which is what was given in the factory. The only money he had to spend, aside from rent, was always just enough for a loaf of bread and some potato soup. He wondered what kind of food he'd be able to eat here at Sheriff Bakugo's house?

Izuku got a little lost, but then he heard the sound of a violin, so he followed it and found Bakugo. He stopped in the doorway, listening to Bakugo's beautiful playing. Izuku remembered going to a symphony once with Shoto, but that paled compared to Bakugo. The sheriff saw him and ceased playing.

"Good. You look suitable enough. What's wrong with your hands?"

"Oh, these are stained green. Before I came here, I worked in a dye and clothing factory…until they laid us off…and brought in machines to do our jobs."

Bakugo tsked at that. "More rampant crime and trouble on the streets is what I foresee. People get desperate, especially in the winter." He walked up to Deku and looked him over. "You're lucky to have found this place. What's the kids' name?"

"Hisashi, after my father."

Bakugo looked over Deku's shoulder at the sleeping infant. "Must take after the alpha father- his hair is red, not green."

Izuku blushed and lowered his head, twiddling his fingers. "Y-yeah…he takes after his father."

"Where is the father?" Bakugo asked.

"He's um…not around."

"Looks like you made a bad choice," Bakugo said. "You can start cleaning the upstairs. I want my bed made and the coals cleaned out of my fireplace."

Izuku nodded. "Yes, sir.

It was easy to find which bedroom was Bakugo's because it was the only one with an unmade bed. Izuku first made the bed, tightening the sheets and tucking them. Next, he straightened out the comforter and fluffed the pillows. Then, satisfied with his work, he cleaned the fireplace and swept up what was left. Finally, he placed new wood into the fireplace, so it would be ready for Bakugo.

Then, he went to the kitchen to prepare Bakugo's dinner. Bakugo had asked for beef stew, and Izuku found a recipe. It was easy enough to follow, and Bakugo's kitchen was very well stocked. He wondered if he could sneak some of the soup, but he figured it wouldn't be good for him if he got caught. Izuku ladled the stew into a bowl and placed it on a tray with a fresh slice of bread and an empty wine glass.

But when Izuku carried the tray to the dining room, he found Bakugo sitting and staring at nothing. The blonde had a furrowed brow, and he seemed angry. Izuku wondered if it was safe to say something but decided against it. Then, Izuku heard the faint sounds of gunshots again. Was that what Bakugo was listening to?

"Um, Mr. Bakugo? I have your dinner," he placed the tray of food in front of him, which broke the stare.

"Beef stew?"

"Yes, as you requested. Is there anything else I can get you?"

"No, but you can put the radio on and go have your own supper."

Izuku turned the radio on, and Bakugo said he wanted to hear the news. Izuku excused himself and returned to the kitchen, helping himself to some leftover stew and bread. Hisashi was up and started to squirm. The floor was clean, so Izuku let Hisashi crawl around. The baby was thrilled to move around, and Izuku enjoyed the food. He ate the stew and bread so fast that he almost threw up, but he managed to keep it all down with a happy, contented sigh.

'I think my life is finally turning around! We're safe, we're fed, and we're warm. I'll do anything for Sheriff Bakugo. Anything.'
