Clay's PoV
"Hey, Starflight. I heard about Sunny. How are you today?" Clay asked concernedly as they sat down for their first class of the day.
"I'm okay," Starflight said with a forced smile.
"I don't think so, Starflight. Your smile seems forced."
Starflight sighed. "Fine, you're correct. I loved Sunny a lot, and I never really thought about what would happen if she didn't return my feelings. I didn't wanted to believe it, and I still don't, but I know I must do it or else things will get even harder for me. It's really difficult though."
"Don't forget; I have someone I'm waiting for as well. I think the best way for you to move on from Sunny is to spend some time away from her, try to avoid things that remind you of her, and focus more on other things," Clay suggested.
"Thank you so much, Clay. I still wonder, what did I ever do to deserve a friend like you?"
Starflight's PoV
Clay's advice made Starflight feel a bit better, but his feelings were still surrounded by dark clouds. As he walked down the hallway, a familiar voice woke him from his misery.
"Hey, Starflight! How are you?" Fatespeaker Nightflame asked.
Starflight smiled. This time, it was a genuine, sincere one, unlike the one he had forced a couple minutes ago.
"Truth to be told, I could be better. I don't know if you've heard or not, but... I found out that Sunny doesn't like me back. I wasn't ever really confident in the fact that she would like me back, but... I guess I wished too hard." Starflight didn't know why, but having Fatespeaker around made him feel happier and more hopeful. He also didn't mind spilling out everything that was troubling him to Fatespeaker.
"I'm sorry to hear that, Starflight," Fatespeaker sympathized. "I'm sure you'll find someone that will be good for you soon."
Sunny's PoV
Sunny watched the exchange between Fatespeaker and Starflight from afar. Her plan seemed to be going good. She still couldn't help but feel guilty, though. Sunny was upset that she had hurt Starflight, and was nervous that Starflight wouldn't like Fatespeaker in that way, and that Sunny would end up hurting Fatespeaker as well.
Hopefully this plan works, Sunny thought.
After Fatespeaker had left, Sunny went over to Starflight. "Starflight... I'm really sorry. I know I hurt you a lot, but I... I just can't see anybody as a lover," she apologized.
Starflight smiled sadly. "It's fine. We weren't meant for each other, I guess. And... And what I'm going to say next is going to be kind of rude... But... Well, is it okay if I spend some time away from you?"
Sunny was a bit stung. "W-what? I still want to be friends, you know..."
Starflight quickly explained, "Yes, yes, I know, and I do too.. But I just need a bit of time away from you to get over it. We can spend time together once I'm done."
"Okay."
