Link had decided to introduce the six new members of the Company to everyone. However, it seemed that Hilda, at least, already knew one of them. "Balthus? Is that you?"
"The one and only!" Balthus said. "You look familiar, but I can't…wait. Hilda? Last time I saw you, you were only eleven years old! It's been what, four years?"
"Around four years," Hilda confirmed. "It's good to see you."
"Good to see you too, kid," Balthus said. "Though…Holst is probably worried sick that you're gone."
Hilda cringed. "Yeah…I wish I had some way of letting him know I'm alright, but…"
"Too far away, I get it," Balthus said. "Somehow Linkle got to Fódlan and back, but we have no idea how to do it again. Sorry."
"It's not your fault," Hilda said. "Anyway, why don't you tell me about your friends?"
"Sure! I should probably start with Constance, she's…strange. But not in a bad way!"
"Mercedes? I haven't seen you in years!" Constance said. "How serendipitous to see you again!"
"Constance?" Mercedes asked. "You were so small when I saw you last! You've grown!"
"I worried about you after I heard you left House Bartels," Constance said. "Emile was rather tight-lipped regarding that topic."
"Do you know where Emile is now?" Mercedes asked.
"No, he disappeared after killing the Baron," Constance said. Upon seeing Mercedes's shocked look, she realized she said the wrong thing. "Did you not know?"
"No," Mercedes said. "Things must have gotten worse after Mother and I left. We should have taken him with us, damn the consequences!"
"I'm sorry," Constance said.
"Don't be. The situation would be the same, whether I knew or not," Mercedes said. "I'll find him again someday. But for now, we must defeat Calamity Ganon."
"Of course!" Constance said. "I have developed a powerful new form of magic that I tested on the Guardians in the Forgotten Temple. With that, Shez'z blades, and the Master Sword, how can we lose?"
"Shez's blades?" Mercedes asked.
"Dual wielding swords?" Leonie asked. "It can't be done. Not effectively."
"I swear, I can do it," Shez said.
"I don't believe you," Leonie said. "I asked Captain Jeralt about dual-wielding any weapons other than gauntlets or daggers once. He said it would take a literally superhuman level of spatial awareness and ability to calculate trajectories to keep the swords out of each others' way."
"Then why don't I show you?" Shez asked, drawing his sword. Suddenly, his eyes glowed amber, markings appeared on his face, and his hair turned from purple to red. In his empty hand, a second sword appeared.
Leonie drew her lance, and went to strike at him. She never got the chance. Shez's blades danced elegantly, never even close to getting in each other's way. It didn't take long before Shez disarmed her effortlessly.
The transformation then lifted. Leonie stared at him. "Okay, I was wrong."
"You weren't entirely wrong," Shez admitted. "When I'm in that form, I can see better than I can normally."
"Still, I should really stop being surprised," Leonie said.
"Yuri did say something along the same lines about how I shouldn't be able to dual wield," Shez admitted.
"It should be impossible, but he manages it," Yuri said.
"I'm beginning to think I should really stop questioning things in Hyrule," Claude admitted. "Every time I think there's no way this place could get weirder, it gets weirder."
"That's true," Yuri said. "Though Shez isn't from Hyrule."
"He isn't, is he?" Claude asked. "Though, as I've learned, Fodlan has some of its own weirdness. It's more hidden than Hyrule's, but it's there."
"We don't exactly have monsters running around back home...most of the time, unless Hapi sighs, or...you know what? Never mind. We do have monsters running around back home, just not as many," Yuri said.
"What was that about Hapi?" Claude asked.
"Hey, I know you!" Hapi said to Kronya. "Adara! How'd you get here?"
"Adara? You know my sister?" Kronya asked.
"Your sister?" Hapi asked. "Oh, I see."
"How do you know Adara? And with her actual face, at that?" Kronya asked.
"I was held prisoner by a woman named Cornelia," Hapi said. "She...did things to me. Adara was the one who helped me escape."
"She was?" Kronya asked. "Do you know...what happened to her afterwards?"
Hapi bit her lip. "I'm sorry. I ran as fast as I could, and I haven't seen her since."
"I see," Kronya said. "Thank you anyway."
"I wish I could give you more definitive news, but..." Hapi trailed off.
Kronya nodded. "I understand."
"Well, Link found his grand-niece," Hapi said. "Maybe you'll find your sister."
