The Loud Ark-Chapter 6: The City of Sin

The Next Day Lincoln showed his sisters and fairies the blueprint he designed for the ark Aslan told him to build.

"So this is the blueprint I have of the ark," Said Lincoln. "The ark must be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide, and thirty cubits high."

"Whoa! What's a cubit?" Ask Leni for Lisa to ask.

"A measure of length, approximately equal to the length of a forearm, typically about 18 inches or 44 cm." Lisa types down on her calculator. "In modern standards, the ark is to be four hundred and fifty feet long, seventy-five feet wide, and forty-five feet high."

"I never literally realized how big it would be." Said Lori. "Especially something as large as this?!"

"It has to be big to hold the supplies, food, ourselves, and the community." Said Lincoln.

"You mean people we know, Dude?" Asked Luna.

"Yes, but also the animals." Replied Lincoln.

"That's not so bad taking some animals on board that includes our pets?" Asked Lana.

"Actually he means 'All the Animals in the World!'" Replied Fawn.

"All of them?! including the wild animals, birds, and every creeping crawly?!" Lana asked his brother.

"All of them Lana to save their lives along with others." Said Lincoln

"Oh my." Said the twins in unison as Lola spoke up. "I'm a bit creeped out by the creepy crawlies like the bugs."

"And don't get me started on spiders." Said Leni. She and Lynn Sr. both have a fear of spiders.

"Link, we know nothing of the wild beasts in the fields." Said Lynn before Lisa replied. "And not to mention gathering all of them will be dangerous. The Animals are spread out everywhere on the earth and live in areas we don't know existed."

"I know, but Fawn does." Said Lincoln. "So do you Lana and Sid, so you can handle that part."

"And don't worry, Aslan is gonna bring the animals all to us," said Fawn. "Two of each, a Male and a Female."

"So we got everything planned." Said Lincoln before their father shouted.

"Kids!" Shouted Lynn Sr. "It's Time to Go!"

The Loud Kids and fairies rushed out of the house and onto the family's horse-pulled cart to the city.

. . . . .

The Louds went to the city to purchase and collect supplies that they needed to build the Ark. They brought with them large bags of freshly grown crops ready to be exchanged. Upon entering the city, they saw what they would see with each visit: The rich taunting and mistreating the poor, the greedy trying to swindle a customer, gamblers betting fortunes and cheating at dice games, bigger people physically beating little people and all in the name of the city's ruler and self-appointed savior, Jafar.

The family usually paid no mind to the many acts of wickedness happening all around them. No one would listen to reason, no matter how much they might plead for them to remember the Lord's way. Lincoln felt bad for the people despite their sin and mistreatment towards him and his family. For he knew that they will be doomed.

They arrived at a hardware store to get the tools and Lincoln surprisingly found an Ark Building for Dummies on the shelf, who would make this book Aslan perhaps? As they came out with tools and supplies in hand the vendor was quite surprised. "You people want to buy all of this? What for?"

"Yes," Said Lincoln. "It's very important."

"My son has this crazy building project." Said Lynn Sr. "He says it's called an ark and Aslan told him because there is going to be a flood."

"Well, my dad said it was true, I am building an Ark."

"A what?" Said the Vendor as he burst out laughing.

"Yes, it's alright." Said Lincoln. "Go Ahead and laugh."

As the family purchased the tools and supplies got on the cart, the vendor told everyone about this and soon the people of the city began to mock and laugh at the Louds. They said words like "This Boy is a Crazy Fool and so is his whole Family!" "They're not a drop of water around here for miles!" "He's been hearing things in his empty head!"

The Family ignored them. With that, they left the scene with the crowd laughing like crazy hyenas. They agreed not to mention the ark to anyone else and went about their business exchanging their bags of potatoes, corn, and other produce for rope, pegs, and other building tools.

Unbeknownst to them, a red and blue feather parrot named Iago, Jafar's trusted servant and adviser was listening while perched on the roof of one of the buildings. "A Flood he says?!" Said Iago. "There has never been a drop of rain around here for years. Jafar must know about this."

. . . . .

Iago flies off to speak with Governor Jafar at the palace in the center of the city. Jafar is in his worship hall, on his knees in a worship position to one of their false idol gods, surrounded by candles. His inner turmoil causes him to fidget incessantly as he speaks in faint words. A very faint flapping sound in the distance does not help matters. Eventually, he turns around. "Would whoever is making that flapping sound, quiet down!"

Once it was silent, Satisfied, Jafar resumed his prayers until suddenly. "Hey, Jafar!" The Parrot flies in and lands on his cobra staff. Jafar Scowling gets up to see who it is.

"Oh, Iago." Said Sorcerer Governor. "Can't you see I'm usually enjoying my pre-midday worshiping, This better be important."

"It's like this," Iago began. "I just heard from the Father of the white-haired boy and the boy himself, Lincoln Loud, that he thinks there's going to be this flood that's going to destroy everything on earth, and they're building this ark because their 'Lion God' told them too."

"Lincoln Noah is of no concern to me," Jafar replied. "As long as that boy doesn't step one foot to defy in my city, he is harmless."

"What must we do Jafar?" Said Iago.

"For now, I want you to spy on the family and see what they're up to," Jafar Replied. "If they get out of line, inform me at once."

"Of course, Sure will Jafar!"
