In the following days, there was much the girl and Kinala were learning from the Sifa about the lands they had been to and what they had seen. Their culture and how they viewed things. They walked onto one of the ships but never left port.
The Chamberlain wasn't interested in getting on the ship, however. He just let the girls enjoy it.
One of the male Gelflings complimented him. "You're amazing to let that young Gelfling call you her father."
"Was on condition that human could not have baby with me. Wanted childling to raise. Kinala not have kin. Princess to Skeksis Empire." Sil declared. "Hmmm."
"And that's great, my lord." The male declared. "You gave her a life that almost any Gelfling would want, to serve you lords in the castle."
"Yes. Go now. Have important work to do." Sil declared, walking away. He just wanted to get away from this annoying chatter. "Tomorrow, we leave."
When they got off the ship, Sil told them it was time to leave tomorrow, and they needed to get packed. He wanted to go somewhere else for some more of their vacation and he was thinking the Endless Forest. He was ready for some land-dwelling animals for his dinner too.
The Sifa were sad to see them go but it had been decided. They were heading to the Endless Forest tomorrow.
...
First thing in the morning, after breakfast, the carriage was loaded up and they were bound to leave. Kinala had liked learning about the different places outside of the Skarith region.
Sil was glad to be out of the Sifa Clan and away from the water. He knew he had discovered a fun side to himself that he hadn't felt in some time. But he had felt it being away from the other Skeksis.
"Just remember, what you saw Chamberlain do at beach, Human, you not tell other Skeksis about." Sil decreed.
"Agreed. It was nice to see more of your playful side away from the castle." She replied. "Same goes for you too, Kinala."
"I know, Mom. Must uphold our reputations." Kinala stated.
"Good, Daughter." Sil replied.
It was nearly an all-day trip to the Endless Forest. They went to an area where they were going to spend time together, just as a family. The guards were with them too but were to keep their distance away from them. Rather, the guards were in the next glen away from Sil's family.
The girl was going to make some new shoes for herself and Kinala. Kinala went to hang with the guards. Sil felt a restlessness in him.
"Chamberlain wants to try hand at hunting." Sil announced to his mate.
"Okay." The human declared. "To see if you can do it?"
"Yes. Testing myself." Sil smirked.
"Tests never hurt anyone if it's the right kind of test. Just be careful of what animal you go after." She warned him.
"Know that. Definitely NOT Rakkida."
"Good."
Then Sil was gone to find an animal worthy to kill for dinner. He knew that he wanted to impress his mate by bringing home the food for a change. He had once been able to do it. He wanted to try do what the Hunter did all the time. He had felt a little jealous when his mate had had to help the Hunter when he had come in injured that last week.
The Chamberlain looked for some animal worth hunting. At one time, he might be able to match SkekMal's skills, but not so much anymore. But it wasn't going to stop him from trying.
There were several small animals that he tried catching but always got away from him. He would usually blow his cover too early. He was just too hungry while doing this.
But at one point, he found one creature that he snuck on and didn't know what it was. It was a bug-like creature that had some reddish hairs on it. He managed to get a hold of it and though it squirmed, it did nothing to stop him, and he munched it down. "Good meal, hmmm." Sil declared.
He had gone quite a ways from his camping area. He was going to head back. He was going to catch something else on the way back when he felt his stomach start hurting. This wasn't good. He rarely ever got sick. But something was disagreeing with him.
The more he walked, the more the pain seemed to get to him. Sil held his belly, whining. His whimper didn't have the usual sound to it. It was almost like a dog's whimper. He wasn't going to give up.
Sil soon made it back to camp. "HUMAN!" He called out desperately.
The woman heard her mate and left the tent. She saw her husband approaching the camp and he finally collapsed from the pain he was in. "AGGGGH!" He cried out upon landing on his chin, hard.
"Sil!" She cried out, which also brought the guards and Kinala as well. They all ran to the fallen Skeksis. "What happened, Lord Chamberlain?" The human asked.
Sil was in too much pain to answer right away. "Hmm, not feel good. Belly- hurts!" Sil moved onto his side. He held his belly.
"So, you caught something out there?"
"Yes. Too hungry to share. Had to eat. Was- getting something else for you." Sil declared weakly.
"Come. Let's get you to rest." The human urged and helped Sil to his feet. It was hard to get him to stand.
"Sil, lean on me but I can't carry you. I know you're hurting, but you have to help me here." The human stated. Sil reluctantly walked to their tent with her leading him. Kinala followed.
"What can we do to help him, Mom?" Kinala asked.
"I don't know. But he has to do a lot of resting for right now. He might feel better by tomorrow, given he's able to sleep." The human explained.
"Hmm. Not know if- can sleep. Hurts too much!" Sil moaned.
"Everyone gets stomach upset sometimes, Chamberlain. It'll pass."
"HMMMM! Yes, but want gone now!" Sil groaned, holding his belly, feeling a sharp cramp seizing it.
The guards were worried. "What did you happen to eat, Lord Chamberlain?" One of them asked.
"Not knowing! Go -way!" Sil snapped. It made the guards leave in a hurry.
"You didn't need to do that. They were only trying to help." The girl scolded him.
"Not want Gelfling around when feel like this." Sil winced. His stomach was raging in pain.
"Alright. Just get some rest." The girl said. "I'll be here if you want anything."
"Will Daddy be okay?" Kinala asked.
"Probably in the morning but I don't know of anything, Sweetie."
The guards hated it when their lords didn't take them seriously. They only wanted to help. Now they were going to be stranded here until their lord was feeling better.
SkekSil didn't feel good in the slightest. His wife helped him to their tent, and he slowly laid down. His mate began to help him take off his heaviest robes a little at a time so he wouldn't be so hot while sleeping.
"Okay, just try to sleep, Chamberlain." The girl said. "I know having belly pain is never fun. But then, I go through it every month."
"Hmmm! Just- want it- gone..." Sil panted, cringing. He was lying on his right side with his left hand holding his aching belly. It hurt to move.
Sil moaned about for a while before managing to fall asleep. The human was worried and was staying up with him. When it seemed he was sleeping soundly, she settled herself down for the night too. Kinala had also fallen asleep a long time ago.
Outside, the guards took turns on the watch for danger and sleeping.
...
In the morning, the girl was the first to awaken. She yawned and stretched. She was facing away from her mate and when she turned to see how he was doing, she saw something new. Sil was shaking vigorously. He was also moaning in what appeared to be terrible pain.
"Sil, what's going on?" she asked him in concern. She then reached over and felt his face. He was burning up! "Sil, wake up." She nudged him.
Sil moaned and whimpered in pain. "Not... touch..." He rasped. It was obvious he was in pain, even more so than last night.
"Whatever you ate last night is making you sick, Sil. We need to find out what's going on. Kinala, wake up!" The girl shouted. It woke the young Gelfling in a start.
"Mom?"
"Honey, go get the guards. They might know something about his condition." The girl ordered her daughter.
"Yes, Mom." Kinala got off her sleeping spot. She had a look at her father and saw he wasn't well. It made her start to worry too. Then she left the tent.
"Not want to die..." Sil looked up at the girl with some sad eyes. His vision was blurry too.
She didn't know what to do for him. "I'm sure you'll be fine. Keep fighting. How's your belly?"
"Hmmm! Still hurts!" He moaned.
It wasn't long before Kinala returned with the guards. The girl turned to them as they approached. When they saw their lord all painful and shaking about, the muscles twitching, only one of them knew what was causing it.
"My lord, did you any by chance eat a creature that looked like a bug with red hairs on it?"
"Y-es... only could catch..." Sil rasped.
"It was a two-eyed stickler that he ate I believe. Those creatures have venomous hairs on their bodies. The red hairs mean to leave them alone." The guard explained.
"Is there any way it can be cured?" The human asked.
"There is but one way that I know of. It's Nebrie milk. The Stonewood village should be close by. We don't know where we'll find a Nebrie right this minute. But one of us could go to the Stonewood village and get some." The guard suggested.
"Couldn't we take him there?" The human advised. "We have the carriage."
"With how much he is having those pains, our lord can't move." The guard decreed.
"Mom, could I go?" Kinala asked.
"You and this guard, plus that other one go to the Stonewood village and get the milk. I am staying with your father. Hurry back." The human ordered.
"We will, Milady." The guard replied. "Come, Princess Kinala."
Kinala gave her mom a hug before going. "Take care of Daddy."
"I will. Now go."
Kinala and the guards got on the Landstriders and took off as fast as the animals could go. There was only one guard remaining to guard the couple.
The human wasn't leaving her husband's side. "Can you bring some water in here with a cloth?" she asked the guard.
"Yes, Milady." He replied. He left and returned with some. They were camped near a waterhole.
The girl dipped the cloth in it and rung it out, then applied it to Sil's face and neck. He whimpered in pain. "Hmmm, hurts." Sil moaned.
"I know, but I have to keep your fever from escalating. The water should help keep it down. Kinala is going for help." She declared.
The Chamberlain was definitely in so much pain he couldn't move. He felt like he was being stung all over his body and his stomach raged in nausea. He felt like he was breathing harder than usual. The girl saw that.
"Sil, you need to calm your breathing down. I know you're scared, but you need to try to remain calm. Panicking doesn't help." She explained. "Take some deep breaths. Breathe with me." She instructed. She helped him with some deep breathing. "Deep breathing might also soothe some of the nausea."
Sil tried to do the breathing. It helped some but he was still in deep pain from the muscle cramps. His wife kept on dipping the cloth every few minutes and wiping his face down. His body temperature was like a raging inferno at the moment, to him, and it had nothing to do with his temper or exertion. He could only wait for his daughter's return.
I had looked up the Two-eyed Stickler online that they had poisonous hairs. Since SkekSil lives in the castle, so well living the cushy live almost, there could be a chance he wouldn't have known what it was.
