Kinala followed the guards to the Stonewood village. They were surprised to see the princess there. They knew of her by now. She was greeted by some paladins. Other villagers looked on too.

"Hello, Princess Kinala. What can we do for you?" One of the paladins greeted them.

"Hello, Stonewood warriors, my father, the Lord Chamberlain, is really sick." Kinala declared.

"He ate a two-eyed stickler last night. We came here on behalf that we need some Nebrie milk to help cure the sickness." The guard who knew about it decreed.

"You could have brought him here."

"No, we couldn't. He's too sick and sore to move." The guard declared. "Please, we need the milk now."

"Yes, Sir."

The paladins went on to go get some Nebrie milk from one of their animals. Meanwhile, another paladin went into the Maudra's house and told her of the situation.

"Okay. They can have the milk. I am to see the princess to declare it first." The Maudra stated and left her throne to go see the princess and her guards.

"Hello, Princess. It is good to see you again. You sure are growing up." The Maudra smiled.

"Thank you, Maudra. I am here on behalf of my father, who is very sick from eating a two-eyed stickler." Kinala explained.

"It won't take the paladins long to get the milk that you need." The Maudra said.

"Good. I need to get it back to him as fast as possible." Kinala replied.

It took a little longer than wanted but the paladins soon returned with a wineskin full of Nebrie milk. Kinala put the strap over her shoulder. "Thank you, Stonewood Maudra and all your help. I have to get going now." The young princess thanked them.

"You're welcome. Go take care of your father." The Maudra decreed.

"Yes. Let's go!" Kinala ordered. She and her guards went to their Landstriders and got on board before taking off as fast as possible.

The other Gelflings were still all bewildered that this one Gelfling was considered a princess when she only lived in the castle like other guards did. But it was clear she was the daughter of one of the lords.

...

Kinala and the guards hurried to get the milk back to the Chamberlain.

Sil was still incredibly uncomfortable when they got back. Even his wife was at an end on what to do. He had swiped at her hands when she had touched him. His fever was spiking.

"AGH! Make pain stop!" Sil cried out.

"I wish I could, Sil, but we can only wait." The human said.

It was mid-afternoon by the time Kinala returned with the medicine. The ride had been a long one. She hurried to the tent.

"Mom! I got the medicine!" Kinala cried out happily.

"Shh! He's sleeping." The girl shushed her.

"Sorry, but I got the cure." Kinala stated.

"That's great. Here, give it to me." The human ordered.

She got it to Sil's side. She nudged him. He moaned weakly. "Not- touch..." He groaned.

"Sorry, Sil, but I got the cure. Kinala came through even though it took a while. Here, you need to drink this." The girl held the wineskin to Sil's mouth to get him to drink the milk.

He raised his head just barely and used his tongue to lap up the milk as she squirted it into his mouth. It was tasty.

The girl thought he had drunk enough of it soon. She soon took it away. "That should be the first round of milk for you. Keep some yet just in case. Now all we can do is wait for the cure to work."

Sil had been thirsty and had been concerned his daughter wouldn't be back in time to save him. But she had and had just helped save his life. His wife had too, by helping keep his fever down. She had been a good leader during all this crisis. Now they could only wait.

The girl and Kinala went back to sleep while the guards also guarded and slept too.

As the hours passed, Sil's muscles began to loosen up but there were still jitters. The nausea intensified before it got better. Sil's stomach was still full of pain. It would be for a while. Had to let the milk do its job.

...

Even when the Chamberlain woke up the next morning, his body was still in pain. "How's your stomach?" The girl asked.

"HmmmMMmm. Still... hurting." His hand was on his belly still.

"We still have some more of that milk. Let's go for another round of it." She insisted. Sil nodded.

The human got the wineskin again and let Sil have some more milk. Sil drank as much as he could before his wife stopped him from taking more.

"Get some more rest. After a while, perhaps we should let you get up and try walking around." The human advised.

"Still painful all over." Sil whined.

"It's going to take some time for the toxins to work their way out of your body. At least seven days." The one guard declared. "That's what I've seen from ones who ingested the two-eyed stickler's poison."

"Ate whole thing." Sil rasped.

"That's just it, my lord. The poison will affect you for quite some time." The guard said.

"Do we need more Nebrie milk before this one runs out?" The girl asked.

"We got up to five containers of it."

"That's good. We'll just have you drink them a little at a time." The girl said to her mate.

Sil was not happy about being sick this long. He had to get home and get to work again. Their time away was already past its due time.

"Have work... at castle..." Sil moaned.

"Sil, you are not moving anywhere until you can move without that kind of pain. You still have bad muscle spasms too. Those need to stop. And you still have a fever." The girl explained.

"Where did Chamberlain get so lucky to have you as wife?" Sil asked deliriously.

"How's that?" she asked him.

"You care more for Chamberlain than any Skeksis ever did."

She couldn't help it that his words touched her emotionally. Tears welled in her eyes. "I'll help get you through this. And thanks."

Exhaustion from his pain took over and Sil fell to sleep again. That was his only release of pain right now.

...

At the castle, the emperor was expecting Sil to be back by now after his vacation with his family. They normally returned in a timely manner.

But the other Skeksis were welcoming not having the Chamberlain around too. They still went around their businesses, but were missing his daughter, Kinala to do her job as messenger.

Nebrie milk was said to be the only known cure for Two-eyed Stickler poisoning.
