No one's POV
As Cole stood before Jay, he watched as his friend's golden eyes flickered with recognition, only for them to turn aggressive once again. Jay snarled and growled, his wolf instincts taking over.
Before Cole could even say anything, Jay let out a fierce growl and lunged at Cole. Cole jumped back, narrowly avoiding Jay's claws. He knew he had to think of something quickly before to snap Jay out of it.
"Jay, it's me, Cole!" Cole yelled, hoping to break through to Jay.
For a moment, Jay hesitated, his golden eyes flickering with confusion. But the confusion quickly turned to anger, and he charged at Cole once more.
Cole dodged Jay's attack again, but he was getting tired. He knew he couldn't keep this up for much longer.
"Jay, please, listen to me," Cole pleaded. "I won't hurt you, I promise. I would never hurt my best friend!"
Jay's eyes flickered once more, and this time, Cole could see a glimmer of recognition in them. Jay hesitated again, his aggressive stance faltering.
"Don't worry, Jay," Cole repeated, taking a step forward. "I'm your friend, and I'm here to help you, bud."
This time, Jay didn't charge at him. Instead, he stood still, his eyes still flickering between recognition, aggression and confusion. Cole took another step forward, slowly and cautiously, and reached out a hand.
Jay tensed up, but he didn't attack. Instead, he sniffed Cole's hand, his golden eyes searching for recognition. Cole held his breath, hoping that Jay would remember him.
Finally, Jay's eyes locked onto Cole's, and Cole saw a glimmer of recognition in them. Jay let out a low whine, and Cole reached out to pet him.
"It's okay, Jay," Cole whispered soothingly. "I'm here for you. I won't hurt you."
Jay leaned into Cole's touch, and for a moment, it seemed like he was back to his old self. But then, the aggression returned, and Jay pulled away, then bared his teeth once more.
Cole froze for a moment, fear and concern etched on his face as he watched the werewolf version of Jay. He knew he had to act fast to prevent anyone from getting hurt.
"Jay, listen to me," Cole said, his voice firm but gentle. "You're not thinking straight right now. I need you to calm down and listen to me."
Jay's eyes flickered to Cole, and for a moment, he seemed to hesitate. But then, he let out a fierce growl and lunged towards Cole.
Cole quickly dodged, his training as a ninja kicking in. He didn't want to hurt Jay, but he also knew he had to defend himself.
As the two of them circled each other, Cole noticed something strange. Jay seems to be fighting a battle within himself.
Cole realized that Jay was struggling to keep control, and he knew he had to do something to help him.
"Jay, I know you're in there," Cole said, his voice softening. "You're stronger than this. You can fight it."
For a moment, Jay seemed to hesitate, recognation flickering in his golden eyes once again. And then, with a loud roar, he charged towards Cole once more.
Cole closed his eyes, bracing for impact. But instead of a sharp pain, he felt a sudden weight on his shoulders. When he opened his eyes, he saw that Jay had tackled him to the ground, pinning him down.
But there was something different about the way he was holding him. It was almost... protective.
Cole gazed up at Jay's werewolf form, his heart racing. For a moment, their eyes met, and Cole saw a flicker of recognition in Jay's golden eyes.
And then, just as suddenly as it had come, the recognition was gone, and Jay's eyes flickered back to gold.
Cole knew that he had to keep trying to reach him. Jay was still in there, somewhere. And Cole wasn't going to give up on him.
