Having recently moved to Seattle, Donna and Harvey settle in their new offices.
...
It's been exactly a week since they arrived in Seattle, and between finding a place to stay, and moving everything from the east to the west coast they barely had time to stop by the clinic, they've only been there twice to meet some of the people they'd be working with as of monday when they're due to officially start working.
Today they decided to stop by and organize their offices as best as they can so the day after tomorrow they'd have everything ready to start working as soon as they get there.
"Hey" Donna calls softly from the doorway of Harvey's new office.
"Hey yourself" He says back with a smile as he keeps placing his records on the shelves.
"You need any help with that?"
"Um, no I got it"
"Really? cause you don't have a secretary yet, and I don't mind"
"You're not my secretary anymore, Donna" He points out softly "You're my wife" And the way he says it, a proud grin forming on his mouth has her smile in return.
"I know that. I'm offering as your wife"
"Are you done with yours already?" He asks curiously and she hesitates for a second, letting him know she isn't "That's what I thought. So go, I'll be fine" He encourages.
She knows he can do things by himself, he's completely capable but sometimes she still has a hard time coming face to face with the fact that he doesn't need her to solve everything for him anymore. He still needs her, of course he does, but just not in that particular way.
"Okay" She replies and turns to leave but before she's out the door she's spinned around and pulled into her husband as he kisses her.
"For the way" He says as he lets her go and she shakes her head and kisses him again.
"See you later" She whispers and finally walks back towards her own office,
…
Around an hour later she's finishing up the last details as she puts some books on the shelves when she gets a text from her husband.
- Ready to go home?
She smiles, surprised he's already finished and she doesn't reply, instead she grabs her purse and heads to Harvey's office.
He's not there, and she assumes he must have gone to the restroom or to get something before leaving for the evening.
She has to admit he did a great job. His records are all lined up against the shelves on the biggest wall of his brand new office, similar to how he had them in New York. His balls are also displayed in the same order they were before. It almost looks exactly like his old office, except for one detail that immediately catches Donna's attention.
He's never had frames in his office before, it was too sentimental, and the only sentimentality he allowed himself to have was Lily's painting. Now hanging in their living room at home.
But he's never displayed pictures in his office before and it's not just that. As curiosity takes over her, she walks towards his desk and tries to keep it together as she takes a look at the pictures he decided to display on his desk.
There's their wedding picture, a caption of their first dance as husband and wife, a copy of the exact same picture that sits on their fireplace back home, but there's also another picture.
Her picture. It's from their honeymoon, she remembers it clearly.
She's standing on the balcony of their honeymoon suit, the ocean behind her and a beaming smile adorning her face. She remembers telling Harvey not to dare to take her picture while she was wearing no makeup, he made a funny retort that had her laughing and that's when he apparently took the caption she's looking at right now.
Harvey's never been a sap, not really. She knows he cares and he has always had a clear soft spot for her, that she later knew it had always been love, even when he couldn't voice it, or even admit it to himself. But she never pictured him as someone who would have his partner's picture on his desk.
He finds her with the frame in hand and watery eyes and frowns at the sight.
"Hey" He calls her out of her trance and she snaps her head up, a smile appearing on her face at the sight of him "What is it?" He asks with concern and she brushes it off with a shake of her head as she puts the frame back in place.
"Nothing, it's just… I didn't know you kept that picture" She says as she points to the frame.
He walks towards her, a knowing smile tugging on his lips "That's one of my favorite pictures of my wife, of course I kept it" His hands find their natural place on her waist and hers land on his chest.
"You have many favorites?"
"Of course I do. My wife is beautiful" She chuckles and slides her hands up to put her arms around his neck.
"You really like to point out that I'm your wife, don't you?" She teases him.
"Well, my wife is awesome so yes, I sure like to brag about it"
"You're an idiot"
"Your idiot. So you like my new additions?" He asks as he tilts his head towards his desk and she nods.
"I love it. I guess I never thought you were that guy"
He lifts his eyebrows and smiles "Oh. What guy now?"
"You know" She starts as she caresses the hairs on his nape "The guy that keeps a picture of his wife on his desk"
"That's because I never had a wife before"
"I sure hope so" She quips with a serious expression that he knows it's just a bluff.
"You're the only one who ever had a chance to make an honest man out of me, Donna. And you know it"
"I do" She admits with a grin "And I also have a new addition on my desk" She admits sheepishly and his grin could light up the whole room.
"You do?"
"An exact copy of yours, actually"
"You have your own picture at your desk?" He teases and she laughs loudly.
"I'm not Louis!" She exclaims pretending to be offended by the suggestion "A copy of the other picture on your desk"
"Good"
"Yeah, good" She echoes and is about to pull away from him when he tightens his grip on her and descends his lips to connect with hers in a dazzling kiss.
"I love you, Donna" He whispers against her lips.
"I love you, too. Now take me home, I want to show you how much I appreciate your new additions and I'd rather do that in our bedroom"
He laughs and nods "Lead the way, Mrs. Paulsen-Specter" She pecks his lips once more and he follows her out of his office.
He was never a sap, but he doesn't mind being one for his wife.
