Benimaru had been staring at Kyo since he entered the shop at noon. And it was really, really bothering Kyo. He'd been acting weird since the night of Kyo's date. The line was steadily growing as they approached rush hour, but Kyo couldn't focus on making orders with Benimaru's eyes on him.
"So," Benimaru starts, once the number of people has dwindled down a bit, "you never told me how your date went."
Kyo pinches the bridge of his nose and sighs.
"You've been so fucking weird for days because of that?"
"Yes! You tell me everything, so why didn't you tell me about your date?" Benimaru places his hands on his hips, giving Kyo a glare.
"I don't have to tell you anything," Kyo crosses his arms over his chest, sending a glare right back.
"Um… excuse me, I'd like to order," someone says. Both of them ignore her in favor of staring at each other. "Hello…?"
Kyo breaks first, letting out a groan as his shoulders sag. Benimaru smirks triumphantly, and then cheerfully greets the customer. "Hello– oh, Kagura-san, it's nice to see you! So what can I… why are there two of you?"
"Two of her? What are you on, m– holy shit," Kyo looks up. There are, indeed, two Chizuru's.
The one that he assumes is Chizuru giggles, while the other rolls her eyes. "This is my sister, Maki. We're twins."
Benimaru attempts to flirt with both of them, and while Chizuru simply rolls her eyes and brushes it off, Maki attempts to smack him. Kyo chooses to let it happen, clutching his stomach as he laughs.
"That's the one Iori's dating?" Maki asks as they exit the cafe. Chizuru nods. "Seems stupid."
She chuckles. "Oh, he is. But he's very sweet. You should see the way he and Iori look at each other. It's disgusting."
Maki sighs and shakes her head. She looks down at the other cup in her hand, the one that isn't hers. "You're sure he takes his coffee with this much sugar?"
"Yup."
"Weirdo," Maki mumbles. Chizuru chuckles.
"Two of them," Benimaru sighs, "and they're both gorgeous."
"You're insane," Kyo shakes his head as he walks to the kitchen. "You can't date both of them. I mean, Maki tried to hit you."
"I didn't say I wanted to date both of them! Am I not allowed to appreciate beautiful women?"
"Not on the clock!" Kyo calls over his shoulder. He opens the oven, squinting at the macarons.
"So before I forget," Benimaru pops up behind him, and Kyo shrieks.
"You need to stop doing that! Especially when I'm near the fucking oven!"
"Yeah, whatever, tell me about your date."
Kyo lets out a drawn out sigh before he gives Benimaru the details. The blonde listens intently, as though Kyo's date is the most interesting thing in the world. Maybe it is. It's not like Kyo gets out that often, and the last time he'd dated anyone was high school. Benimaru's behavior had been the same back then, too. Maybe Kyo needs new friends…
"That's it?"
Kyo's eyebrows furrow in confusion. "What d'you mean?"
Benimaru looks around before leaning in. His voice drops to a whisper. "You didn't fuck?"
Kyo nearly shrieks again.
"Y'know what? I'm never telling you anything again. In fact, I think you should find a new roommate, 'cause I'm moving out." He storms out of the kitchen with Benimaru on his heels, apologizing and begging him to stay.
It's going to be a long day at the coffee shop.
