Dalaran City...
'Hey there, are you going to go home after graduation?' Jaina asked her after formalities were done. Her eyes aren't at the glowing stage yet, sign that she's a powerful mage. Back when they were kids, Sierra's amber eyes were glowing and it got brighter till School Graduation. Now come Mentorship Graduation, her entire eyes are now glowing blue that it's quite the uncanny sight even if she was told about it long ago by her master.
'Yeah, I miss home.' said Sierra. 'After years of seeing purple and pink here, I want to see color again.' she said wryly with an armfold. 'I even miss what mud looks like.'
Rule of Archmage Kael'thas: never tell anyone he takes them to Quel'thalas. He is picky when choosing students. He wants hardworkers and those who can keep secrets to their graves with firm resolves. So she fibbed she was in Dalaran.
Jaina laughed at that.
'One year of vacation at home, then all business as a permanent resident in Dalaran while working to rise in rank.' said Sierra. 'We're now Dalaran Residents after this so we'll see pink and purple forever.' she joked with a forced smile. That would take time in getting used to.
'That's true...I'll make the most of my time at home too.' said Jaina with a wobbly smile. They then went home with their families in carriages.
'So sis, how will you spend your vacation?' Zachary asked her. The family had time to get used to her fully-glowing eyes when she was 17. That was a symbol of how magically-powerful she was now.
'Well, I just want to be lazy for a couple months...I need a break~' Sierra complained tiredly.
'Wah, did your master grill you good?'
'He has to or I'm prone to blowing things up again...I'm only good at land-clearing, telepathy and long-distance porting before I stepped into Dalaran after all...and I want to see how our new farms look!'
'Yeah but while we followed your instructions on rice that it became a hit to our peasants in the form of Cooking Wine(Mirin), Rice Wine and Sweet Rice Wine for the underage, we're still getting used to making cooking condiments out of beans.' he said as his people are now conflicted. Beer or Rice Wine? 'The Rice Wines are selling well in Lordaeron too.'
'Business as usual! Then we use the rest as livestock fodder so we can make our own cheese! Those things are expensive in stores!' Sierra grinned. 'More revenue more stuff we can get, right?'
'Yes, but we also have to be careful not to step on too many toes, little sis...there are people offended that we, lower status are richer than them you know.' said Zachary with a twitch.
So much accomplishments.
So much productions.
And also, so much revenue.
His family is stinking rich.
His sister's strange desire for changes in food was responsible since healing from her fatal illness. She asks for new species and if none can be found in human nations, she unearthed new ones from Quel'thalas. Their family can keep quiet that Archmage Kael'thas Sunstrider takes his pupils there for four years and it was there Sierra discovered that other than the continent they know of, there is another across the Great Sea past the Maelstrom called Kalimdor where the elves were originally from, and she learned and mastered their cuisine because she adored the taste.
Randy the Head Chef and Mrs. Edeline the Kitchen Baker led their teams to produce different dishes under her leadership that his wedding left a long-lasting impression...and jealousy that they get to eat delicious food every day!
Then in fashion, his mother was quite the trendsetter in dresses ever since they were kids. Because she wasn't good at drawing, Sierra looks into their mother's mind and shows it to the fiefdom tailor who in turn copies and brings the designs to life. Types of dresses for each occasion, and appropriate designs based on social status, etiquette, occasions like tea parties, etc, etc...and most importantly, making sure no one's wearing the same dress as you! That would be AWKWARD.
That after his wedding day, the King's Birthday was next month that they quickly had to gift many cookbooks to the King on the sly before the event, and the public wedding gift, was Rejuvenation from Sierra that despite his age, he is now robust and looked two decades younger with nary a wrinkle on his face! So yep, Lordaeron will live on longer! This was to prevent tongues wagging from Counts to Barons!
Yup, they had to quickly get politically-prepared...and his wife is learning well from his mom that she catches up quick.
The Countryside life is the slow life!
Thankfully her bedroom is still functionable. Cleaned up for her use.
And she can ditch wearing those tacky purple uniforms FOREVER too. Dalaran people lack taste in clothes...she'll dress up HER way while working to become a magus!
She decided to make a twist in kimonos once she gets there. Besides, she's getting weary of dresses that shows way too much. But she'll do it in Dalaran.
Change her clothes back to her good old asian days.
"Maybe I can cosplay? Hiyaaahhh...how embarrassing but no earthling is here to call me out on it..." she chuckled sheepishly. "But at any rate...I really gotta relax. Thanks to my cheat, I have tons of books in my memory. I can do research anywhere I wanted. I can experiment anywhere too...ooh I know! Travel!" she decided. "I haven't seen much of this world yet!"
It helps that her father got her the bow she wanted. Truesilver Bow might be her answer given its arcane property, it may be able to fire swords, even if they're not Broken Phantasms but magically-charged still.
Since she had Archery Training legally, she could own a bow.
Upon appearing on a cliff face, she decided to give her new toy a try. She took a sword she projected with magic before altering it as an 'arrow'. Nock it...and fire!
Cue a hole a Wrecking Ball would be proud of at full strength. But if aimed at land, it is powerful enough to make an explosive shockwave of an anti-tank landmine. And Siege War Machines here are about the size of one. The human military used to have Ballistae, but upgraded to Steam Tanks and Siege Engines instead.
'If an ordinary Knight's sword can do this...what more about Excalibur and it's Alter Counterpart?' that was the strongest sword in her memory. One she personally copied.
She shook her head and imagined had she used it, it'll be the equivalent of setting off a Nuke. Too too scary! If Excalibur is a controlled Nuke because on Saber's will, it's power is contained to just a Castle and its powers going up and down, to the sky and down to the earth to make a hole deep enough for a small reservoir, Excalibur Morgan is destruction of indiscriminate disaster, it's power spilling as far as it can go on Saber Alter's will. Those are the memories of those swords.
NOPE.
She also created a new spell that represented her truly well.
Archer...her future self who did everything for their dream only to be betrayed by their ideals making him who he is today, witnessed so much that she inherited through the arm Kirei grafted on her. And Saber's memories, Fourth War included.
Illya's mom was pretty, kind and gentle...innocent too due to what she was, a homunculus like her daughter.
When she saw certain parts of the Fourth War, she got an idea from there. It's a spell unique to her alone. Archer doesn't know this. It's not original either as Fourth Archer does his Noble Phantasm this way.
As Tohsaka taught her, spells have predetermined capabilities; so the powers of a particular spell will always remain the same, no matter which magus uses it. The incantations, however, may differ.
Regular incantations are something chanted not towards the outer world, but to one's inner world; they are actions that activate the thaumaturgical process inside one's body and reflect one's nature. As long as the incantation of a spell possesses a specific meaning and/or a set of keywords are included in it, the particulars of said incantation are left to the caster's personal tastes. Therefore, it is only natural that they differ from magus to magus. No surprise, magi that boast a great ego usually have long incantations for their spells.
The greater the meaning behind the contents of an incantation to the caster, the better the final result will be. The stronger the self-hypnosis, the more the magus can optimize the use of his Circuits. Changing the words of an incantation does not mean much; what matters is the meaning behind them.
Like, what she's doing now.
'Guided by experience...production complete.' she imagined a particular method. These five words produce the foundation of her spell. Gleaning weapons from her memories, and using mana for construction.
The next words makes them projected on reality. 'Complete Trace, standby.'
And what prepares them for nonstop replication with full access to her mana? 'Removing stops.'
...and finally, to fire a rain of death? 'Complete Trace, endless fire!'
Endless...until she runs out of mana, that is! But its still enough to inspire TERROR.
The amount of mana she spends depends on the weapons she chooses.
Ordinary swords. But the damage is still scary. Enough to wreck a normal reinforced concrete a house for four to rubble in one blow and that hole she made on the rocky surface just now.
Noble Phantasms she actually knows. Excalibur/Morgan even as traced copies as because of her bond with Saber, she was able to make perfected copies at the cost of demand. Kanshou and Bakuya, including spells and wards Archer put on them to increase their value. But memory trace version she's got, was weaker than his. Then copies of weapons of that Fourth Archer when she looked further back. And the all-important Rulebreaker created out of Alchemy and the embodiment of Caster's nature was just as costly.
Copy of her Truesilver Staff that she altered into arrows.
The disparity between Kanshou and Bakuya and her Truesilver was the origin and their magical traits.
Her future self acquired such a treasure somehow. Their quality and ability as swords is high due to being made with the best materials and a human sacrifice, and they have shamanistic and ritual aspects as enchanted weapons. The quality of the grips is more important in the practical use of the swords than the ornamental value, and they are noted as being quite big and heavy. The swords that reached the realm of the Gods due to human sacrifice, rather than the imperfect projected versions, also have a strong affinity against monsters, allowing them to easily cut down mythical monsters.
Truesilver is a material for perfect magical conduit. Due to this, Dalaran sent mages to construct magical defenses on Frankland's Truesilver mining towns. But while dwarven work is impeccable, without what the married swords' got, it's still inferior in strength.
And then...it came back somehow.
It was a field full of swords that represented Shirou, a beautiful field that represented his hope for the future. Not as that horrible world that represented Archer's heartbreak, despair and bitterness.
She lost it upon reincarnation here somehow. She thought different world, different rules. So she thought nothing of it.
But what's part of you is part of you. It just takes time.
And when she began tracing familiar things from memories...the power she lost rebuilt itself.
Its true name stood true even in another world due to the nature of the spell she created just now. A Five-Count Spell. It was the trigger for its return somehow.
She would never know how and why. She never got the chance to study the mechanics of souls and Reality Marbles much. Archer was content with the bare bones of facts as long as it's understandable enough and he wasn't interested in elongated mumbo-jumbo.
"In the future, maybe." she believed it so. "Because like that field, I have to build a future life of happiness here. I refuse to end up like Archer, no matter what."
That was her wish.
She spent her year at home doing what she wanted to do, before preparing for a life of travel.
Due to what she is, she can set her workshop anywhere, and she sent a magical letter to her only friend in school.
Kul Tiras Castle...
Jaina is indeed at home, after nursing considerable heartbreak and disappointment during her time under Archmage Antonidas while allowed time off for her duties of a lady of her status.
When Jaina was 18, she and her father Daelin attended Prince Arthas' induction into the Knights of the Silver Hand in Stormwind City. She invited Sierra too, but Sierra said that she was no longer a Noble so she has no obligations to attend social galas given her situation. Had she been a royal like her, or at least a daughter of a Duke, she can make it.
Thus in all occasions, Sierra indeed, is a no-show on social seasons.
It was good Sierra was a really nice girl and not a social-climber. Sierra was more interested in food, perfecting her magic, and things a high-class titled lady would NOT be interested in. Her behavior was 'unlike a lady' because she has no future as one thus has no point in being 'elegant'. She had tunnel vision in regards to her interests that had nothing to do with boys, falling in love and marriage as she had a rather cynical outlook in that regard due to her own standards of marriage.
Sierra was deadly as competition. Beautiful. Likable personality. But stubborn at what she wants to accomplish till she gets it right. Defend her viewpoints just as stubbornly and if she sees that while she did offer help you're still being stupid, then she will do nothing and watch you fail...like some obnoxious classmates do.
She's a poor match with royals and nobles due to her stubbornness. She was no rival in terms of love.
Shortly after, Arthas visited Dalaran for a few months under the pretense of studying history so that he could get an opportunity to court Jaina. During a ride outside the city, the two kissed for the first time and began a romantic relationship. They initially kept their affair secret from the public in order to avoid feeding the rumor mill, but over the following year, Jaina began visiting Capital City during holidays.
At Hallow's End, after Jaina used a fire spell to ignite the wickerman to the crowd's delight, she and Arthas retreated to the prince's rooms and had slept together for the first time. Afterward, Jaina promised Arthas that she would never deny him. Jaina was subsequently invited to spend the winter in Capital City and began being treated as a member of the royal family, as everyone assumed that she and Arthas would marry and have children soon.
However, during a Winter Veil ball a few weeks after Hallow's End, Arthas began questioning whether the two of them were ready to be together and abruptly ended the relationship so that Jaina could focus on her magical studies in Dalaran and Arthas could focus on his commitments to Lordaeron. Jaina was very hurt by the decision but did not fight him on it, eventually realizing and agreeing that it was the right thing to do at the time. Both of them agreed to remain friends. Jaina returned to Dalaran, where at one point she helped Antonidas dispose of the renegade wizard Kel'thuzad's necromantic experiments and she was finally told what Sierra found out years before just for the sake of Count Frankland's marriage.
A purge was launched by King Terenas II when those findings were the last straw. So many Lordaeron Nobles were hunted down and killed, and their citizens in their fiefdoms suspected to be members of the Cult of the Damned. Nobody's taking chances. It was quite the purge. Resources were taken to prevent the missing Wizard from gathering strength to continue his nefarious plans. A lot of people died. Bodies burned to ashes. And Caer's Darrow, the main base of the Cult as Scholomance, was destroyed to rubble by Mages and ensured there are no survivors.
It was very exhausting. Everyone must clean up in Lordaeron and Dalaran.
So here she was, getting a break and received this letter from Sierra.
Greetings to Lady Jaina Proudmoore,
How's your year of vacation at home? Me? I spent it in absolute break
to relax the mind when we spent years in constant working and thinking.
I really need to cool off that I spoiled myself at home. And play with my
infant nieces. Claire has two daughters, two years apart. So cute! And
when those tiny soft hands pat your face when you hold them close?
I could die of cuteness. It's not a bad way to die then.
And I was thinking of traveling the world instead of setting up shop in
Dalaran as I feel our world is too tiny to even think of becoming an
Archmage one day.
Our worlds are too small. For you it's Kul Tiras and Dalaran(probably),
me, it's Frankland and Dalaran.
I want to see our whole world, and see unexplored unknowns. Write
tons of books about them. Settling down can wait, when one feels
they did all they could!
My parents aren't too happy with my decision due to dangers presented
and because I intended on traveling, the plans for building my house in
Dalaran is put on hold for now since I won't even live in it for a while,
it's just wasted money. Once I'll go back one day, construction will be
on the works.
Our world cannot be so small, if we hope to become Archmages someday.
See the world! We're strong enough for that, aren't we?
After I sent you this letter, I'm packing up and gone by next morning.
- Sierra Frankland
'Travel the world...huh.' she mused. 'Perhaps I will, someday if I wasn't bound to a job...and seeing the world might be just what I need to overcome a few things.'
She would never be his Queen. Her mother said,
'Relations are not a one way street, same for decision-making!' she was unhappy with her story of heartbreak that later got her father annoyed with the prince. 'The two of you should have decided together when you'll break things off or not! When he decided for both of you, you reluctantly had to agree!'
'Daughter, he is not worth you.' her father would say, his eyes stormy and his expression may as well be carved wood. 'Commendable his goals may be, how he broke things off is what's wrong. He'll see his mistake and by then its too late. That you're with a man worth you, a highly-accomplished lady. Prince he may be, but his work pales in comparison to yours! See your worth, daughter and be proud of your worth. You have every right to demand equal value or above, and never lower your standards!'
Due to that, she was effectively grounded in a way, forbidden to go to Lordaeron nor answer letters from Lordaeron. Her father went as far as contacting her teacher for help, as an angry father worried for his daughter!
Well...wow.
Well, she was sure Sierra would really not get along with Arthas due to how she wants her relationships to be...
Sierra wore a typical Adventurer's outfit, Japanese style.
A pink sleeveless kimono dress secured with brown obi. Black tights with pink leg warmers, black leather jiku tabi boots custom made for herself with brown waraji sandal patterns She has leather vambraces. She also has a hooded cloak, customized for archery convenience in regards to movement and the fact that it's not stupidly long.
She has cloth and leather armor magically-treated that defensive capabilities aside, it self-cleans and repairs while still providing maximum comfort. She carries with her a magic pouch she spent a year on when she made plans. A magic pouch with storage space enough for a mansion. Things she might take interest in might be a tad big...
She has two crates of Lesser Healing Potion and two crates of Mana Potion from the Frankland Mana Fountain that she purified again.
She's safe from Magic Addiction but she'll take a break from absorbing more power for now. Thanks to exploiting the atmosphere of Quel'thalas, she reached her goal of Illya's strength after four years in there. She was afraid of Mana Addiction that she stopped to allow herself healing.
'You're really going out huh?' Zachary asked his sister who's really equipped to travel the unknown.
'Yup.' said Sierra. 'There's too many unknown things so I thought I'd go out.'
'Oi oi, We have little space here OK?' Zachary threw her a flat look on his face. 'I don't know how many more we can squeeze in because I have to balance farmlands and workforce, you know? Sure we became Counts and can expand, but if you're bringing home new things to farm, at least blow some space up and then build a cumbersome natural defense annoying to outsiders before you go!'
They got wheat, all vegetables, fruits, chocolate, dairy products, beef, mutton, pork and chicken, Truesilver and now, soybeans and rice.
And they built so many villages and invited over people who wants opportunities that they have close to 500.000 citizens now. 500.000 and counting due to some of those being babies, and some not being legal yet. All adults are employed and happy.
Those who underwent Militia Training are capable of being highly-skilled Footmen, Riflemen and Archers. This was because of standards Sierra had hypnotized into the Barracks Instructors that their army has a high level of skill and she also hypnotized her father, brothers and retainers to achieve the same level of skill...after she treated their bodies off of toxins and clogging, that is. That during the Purging, the Frankland Military of 250.000 men showed great force and achieved plenty again.
They are a domain worth over a million gold a year. As of late, it's now 1.2 million annually.
And so?
Frankland Citizens heard yet another 'clearing explosion'...
Sierra made her journey to fully explore the nasty frontier her family was sent to by Politics. It wasn't explored much at all due to dangers presented and she spent much of her time building defenses around Frankland, and killing off monsters. She also mind-controlled giant spiders to spin silk for her which she collected into giant spools she crafted on the spot.
Hello magical kevlar armor. She saved up enough spools for armor production. Not just for mithril armor but also, the fabrics are just as protective.
Considering the Purge happened, a lot of their men got hurt. So she'll make armor underclothing for that purpose when she saved up enough.
Well, harvesting a spool from a giant spider has a price to pay. Out of energy and super-hungry afterward that Sierra compensated by tossing monsters she's killed at the giant web to feed the spider she harvested from. One spool per giant spider that has no memory of their encounter, feel stupidly hungry yet find many carcasses of prey on their web...
Isn't that strange?
Not that they'll ever know. She sends magical letters home informing them of her whereabouts, mapping the unknowns of the domain they have yet to make theirs. And as far as expansion can go, they can only do ten more to the east. The west is impossible due to terrain.
She then began her journey from North to South.
Might as well check on Richter while she's at it.
