Ch 18 Another Complication
"Out of my way!" Kopa cried out as he dashed up the side of Pride Rock. When he got to the top he was greeted by the confused looks of the Pride. But the creamy brown lion paid them no attention and he dashed into the cave without saying a word. When he got inside he saw Jasiri off to the side with Kiara and Safara right beside her.
"You can do it 'Siri," Kiara was saying. "Just one more push."
"Ugh I can't do this," Jasiri grunted as the sweat poured down her face.
"You're almost there," Safara said softly. "Just one more big push and your precious cub will be here." With that Jasiri took a deep breath and pushed as hard as she could. To everyone's shock a dark brown bundle came sliding out.
"Ah ha vedy good!" Rafiki said with a smile. "Yer son is here." With that Rafiki handed Jasiri her son and she cleaned him off.
"Is he ok?" Jasiri asked, looking down at her newborn.
"Ah yes he appears to be vedy healthy despite being born so early," Rafiki said as he examined the newborn.
"Thank the Kings for that," Kopa said, causing everyone to look over at him.
"Oh so now you care?" Jasiri said, pulling her son close so he could nurse.
"Jasiri I'm sorry for the way I acted," Kopa said. "And I'm sorry I haven't been here for you. But I'm here now. For both of you." Rafiki, Kiara and Safara all decided to leave so Kopa and Jasiri could talk. Kopa began to look at his son. But Jasiri put her paws over the cub, preventing him from seeing the cub. "Jasiri please," Kopa said. "I know you're angry with me but you did say you'd allow me to be a part of the cub's life if I wanted to be. And I do want to be a part of his life. Please let me see him."
"Ugh fine," Jasiri grunted, moving her paws so Kopa could see the cub. When Kopa saw the cub's dark brown coat his eyes went wide with surprise.
"Yeah I'm not sure where he got that coat from either," Jasiri said, smiling down at her son.
"I know where he got it from," Kopa said softly. "He got it from my father. Scar had a dark brown coat just like he does." Just then the cub opened his eyes and looked at his parents with wide chocolate brown eyes.
"Oh," was all Jasiri could think to say. "Well at least he has my eyes. But what should we name him?"
"You really want my opinion?" Kopa asked, unable to hide the surprise.
"Well he's your son too," Jasiri said with a shrug.
"Well how about Ajabu?" Kopa suggested. "It does mean miracle after all."
"I love that name," Jasiri said with a smile. "Alright Ajabu it is." Just then the rest of the group came in to admire the newborn all of them unaware of the trouble that was brewing nearby.

The next day Shida and Mtunga had informed Cala and Dogo about Jasiri and Kopa's new son. "No!" Cala growled, taking a swing at a nearby tree, slicing it in half. "This cannot be!"
"Don't worry Cala we'll take care of the problem," Dogo said. "I think it high time we had it out with Simba and his Pride. And now that my girls are older we're more than ready for battle."
"Yes I agree," Cala said with another growl. "Now's the time to attack! Kopa cannot be allowed to live. He'll ruin my grandson's life!"
"Mom what's going on?" Urithi asked, as she and Urithi snuggled into Mbaya's side.
"The evil ones are going to pay for their sins," Mbaya explained to her daughters. "Now no more talking dear ones. Your father is speaking."
"We attack tomorrow at dawn," Dogo was saying. "Simba and his family will be dead along with Kopa and anyone else who betrayed us! Then we'll take our rightful place as rulers of the Pride Lands!" With that Dogo let out an evil laugh, which was echoed by his Pack and allies.

The next day Kopa was up before the sun. The creamy brown lion had been staying at Pride Rock to bond with his son properly. But today Kopa had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach. Being careful no to wake Jasiri and Ajabu Kopa got up and walked outside the cave and sat on the edge of Pride Rock. To his surprise he saw Nuka sitting there too. "Couldn't sleep either?" Nuka said, smiling at his friend.
"I got a bad feeling Nuk'," Kopa said softly. "Something bad is gonna happen today I just know it."
"Yeah," Nuka said with a sigh. "I have that feeling too. And its driving me crazy." Just then Simba exited the cave. When the golden King saw the two lions there his amber eyes went wide with surprise.
"Morning Dad," Nuka said, smiling at his father.
"Good morning son," Simba said with a smile. "Good morning Kopa. I'm surprised to see you both awake this early."
"Yeah well we couldn't sleep," Kopa said. "We've both got a bad feeling in the pit of out stomachs."
"Yes I must admit that I've been feeling uneasy too," Simba said as he sat beside the two younger lions to watch the sunrise. "I can't quite place it but I can't help but feel that something is off."
"We've been feeling the same way," Nuka said. "And its driving us both crazy."
"You said it brother," Kopa said. "I..." Just then the group heard a loud cry echo through the air, followed closely by Jasiri calling for Kopa. "Sounds like Ajabu is awake," Kopa said, shaking his head. Just then two more cries echoed through the air.
"Sounds like Imani and Mkuu are awake too," Nuka said with a smile. Just then they heard Mflame calling for Nuka.
"We'd better go in," Kopa said. Nuka nodded and the three lions went back in the cave to calm their children down.

A little while later the cubs were settled down and the sun was up. The lionesses were getting ready to go out for the daily hunt. Safara would be staying behind as she was pregnant and Jasiri was staying behind as well. Vitani was going out for the first time since her cubs were born. "Go to Mama?" Imani asked, looking at Vitani with wide amber eyes.
"Not this time sweetie," Vitani said, nuzzling her daughter. "But Daddy is going to be staying with you and your brother."
"Mama no go," Mkuu said, his chin quivering as the tear built up in his rub eyes.
"I'll be back honey," Vitani said, nuzzling her son. "I promise."
"Hey guys don't be sad," Chafu said, pulling his children close and nuzzling them. "You get to spend the day with me."
"Daddy stay?" Imani said, her eyes lighting up.
"Yes Daddy stay," Chafu said, licking his daughter's head.
"Yea Daddy stay!" Mkuu said, nuzzling into Chafu's brown mane. Chafu laughed and licked his son's head.
"You see 'Tani," the grey coated lion said, smiling at his mate. "I've got this. We love you."
"I love you guys so much," Vitani said, nuzzling her mate and children before joining the other lionesses for the hunt. After a few minutes Kinte and Mflame came bounding up to Chafu.
"Uncle Chafu can we play with Mkuu and Imani?" Mflame asked.
"Sure you can," Chafu said with a smile. Then he looked at his children. "You guys wanna play?"
"Yea!" Imani and Mkuu cheered. "Play! Play!" Chafu chuckled as he children got up and ran off with their cousins to the other side of the cave to play. Just then Zazu came flying in, looking frantic.
"Sire!" the horn bill cried out, perching in front of Simba. "Emergency!"
"What's wrong Zazu?" Simba asked, alarmed at his majordomo's appearance.
"Dogo and his Pack are on the way here!" Zazu cried out. "Its war!"
