"There it is... It's just up ahead now." Davis said as they could all see it. Gallant Island was right in front of them as the boat they were riding was drawing closer and closer. They could see the stadium Davis was battling in and they couldn't wait.

Our heroes have finally arrived at Gallant Island. This is where Davis plans to take on Michelle and completely clear Pokemon Grand Orientation. Of course, the chance to battle her Cobalion is soon upon him. Just what is Davis' plan for this kind of battle. We'll see soon enough.

So you want to be Master of Pokemon

Do you have the skills to be Number One

I wanna take the ultimate step

Find the courage to be bold

To risk it all and not forget the lessons that I hold

(Davis' voice) Back to Beginnings

"Hi, Nurse Joy." Davis said as the first stop they made was at the Pokemon Center. "My name is Davis. I came here so I could challenge Michelle."

"Another competitor in Pokemon Grand Orientation. Very well." Nurse Joy said. "I just need to see all four passes and confirm your entry." Davis pulled out all four of his passes and handed them to Nurse Joy. She did a quick scan of each one and confirmed that they were the real thing and that Davis was a real competitor. "Okay. Your registered and all set. Your battle is set for tomorrow morning."

"Tomorrow... It won't be long." Tetsu said.

"I can't wait to see what kind of battle this will turn out to be." Cletus said.

"Since you're here, there is something I like to show you. Follow me please." Nurse Joy said as she showed the way to something.

...

A Hall

Nurse Joy showed them the way to a giant hall at the top of some stairs. When they got there, they saw displays everywhere. There photos of trainers with all of their pokemon with their own prints next to them.

"Wow..." Davis said as he and the others were amazed by it. "What is this place?"

"This is the Hall of Fame. This is where trainers who have cleared Pokemon Grand Orientation are honored and remembered for their accomplishments and their victory here." Nurse Joy said. "I do hope you do well, Davis. We haven't had a victor for quite a long time. Having you win would a momentous occasion."

"No winners for a long time..." Davis said as he thought that was interesting.

"Sounds like it could be great for us." Imperialdramon said.

"Nurse Joy, is there any chance you can tell us what kind of battle Davis will be having?" Tetsu asked. "Davis had to do a few different sets of challenges in order for him to get this far."

"I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Pokemon Grand Orientation was inspired by the Orange Islands." Nurse Joy said. "The purpose of those different kind of challenges were to test a trainer's ability to adapt to situations."

"Adapt?" Davis questioned.

"Yes. There's more to being a trainer than just winning battle. Different kinds of experience can help a trainer grow and become stronger." Nurse Joy explained. "It's important for a trainer to be able to adapt to a situation, test their judgement. It's quite important when the type of battle you'll be having is a full battle."

"A full battle?! You mean I'll be using six pokemon?!" Davis said.

"That means it's not just Cobalion you'll have to worry about." Cletus said. "There's no telling what other kind of pokemon she'll have, but they'll be really strong."

"Your friend is right. Michelle is known for having Coballion, but she has other strong pokemon as well." Nurse Joy warned him.

"With that in mind Davis, are you going to use the pokemon you have with you or are you going to switch them around with the ones at Professor Oak?" Tetsu questioned. Davis had to do some thinking. In a battle like this, whatever he chooses will be real important.

...

The Pokemon Center

Davis had to really think about what pokemon he was planning to use for this battle. He had to make some switches, but he thinks he has the best team for this one.

"I got them!" Davis said as he came out. "I got the pokemon I want for this battle."

"You sure these ones will work?" Tetsu questioned.

"They will. As I thought about it, I thought about what Michelle told me when we last saw her. With that in mind, there's no other pokemon team I would rather battle with." Davis said. "This one is certainly one of my best set of combinations."

"Come on! Let them out! I'm a little excited to see them again!" Imperialdramon said as he was getting a little impatient.

"You got it! Come on out!" Davis called as he showed who is on his team as he believes this might be the best team he made.

"Gastrodon!"

"Swellow!"

"Absol!"

"Houndoom!"

"Zangoose!" Davis showed all of his pokemon, and these pokemon were quite special to him.

"Wow, Davis! A Gastrodon, Swellow, Zangoose, Absol, and a Houndoom?! I'm guessing you're also going with Imperialdramon for this battle." Cletus said as they were both impressed with this set. "You've got quite a team here!"

"Thanks. Truth be told, these guys were the first pokemon I had." Davis admitted as to why they were special. "These guys were the very first pokemon team I made. I won the Hoenn League with them."

"This was your first team of pokemon?! This is amazing!" Cletus said.

"I'm also glad I get to see these guys again." Davis said as he petted all of his pokemon. "We're gonna head up to the woods and spend the night there."

"You're going to spend the night in the woods? Why do that?" Tetsu questioned.

"More about what Michelle told me, about thinking back to the beginning. I want to go into this battle with that kind of thought, remember how things were like with these guys." Davis claimed. "Doing a little camping might help with that."

"I think I get it. It's sort of like getting in touch with your roots." Cletus said. "Sometimes going back to where it all started could be a good thing."

"Exactly. I'll see you guys tomorrow for the battle." Davis said as he and his pokemon headed out with his friends giving him the time to get reacquainted with his pokemon. Since they were his first team, the first set of pokemon he ever caught, they were something special to him. With that in mind, Davis and his pokemon try to go back to where it all began.

...

Davis

"Okay, let's start by gathering some firewood." Davis said as he and his pokemon were getting things together. "Grab us some firewood, guys!" Each of his pokemon played a part in helping with the camp.

"Absol!" Absol used Razor Wind and cut down some branches.

"Zangoose!" Zangoose helped out as well by using his claws.

"Swellow!" Swellow added to it by using Steel Wing and knocking some branches down.

"That should work." Davis said as he took some of the wood and gathered it together. "Okay, light it up, Houndoom."

"Houn!" Houndoom used its firepower and started a campfire for them.

"Looking good." Davis said.

"Gastrodon!" Gastrodon was calling out to Davis for something. Davis hurried on over and saw a small creek flowing through the place.

"Good eye, Gastrodon. You found us some water." Davis said. "I was a little worried we might have to rely on you producing some for us."

"Good thing that I also got some of this!" Imperialdramon said as he showed he found some berries and apples they can eat. This was looking good for them. After getting all that settled, Davis and his pokemon helped themselves to some camping and it was beginning to feel like old times. It felt like it did when Davis started out and went on his first journey. The only thing that is really missing are the friends, other than his pokemon, he traveled with. Soon, night covered the sky and they were all gathered around the fire.

"This was a great idea, wasn't it?" Davis asked.

"It sure was." Imperialdramon said with all of his pokemon agreeing.

"It also has me thinking of everything we've been through." Davis said. "Sheesh, Imperialdramon... You and I sure have went through a lot. Back when you were Veemon, traveling between worlds, and all of this. Who else in the world can say this stuff?"

"You got that right. We do have to keep it a secret, but I'm really glad that this happened to us." Imperialdramon claimed.

"And I'm glad I got to be a trainer because I got to meet you guys." Davis said to all of his pokemon as they all felt the same. All of them began to reminisce about how they all met and all the times they had together. "Swellow, you were the first to come around."

"Swellow."

"You were the very first pokemon I ever caught back when you were just a Tailow." Davis said as he never forgot his first catch and how Swellow became such a reliable pokemon. "You were one fierce pokemon that really liked to battle. You came at Veemon for that reason. I wanted to know what it was like to catch a pokemon, and when I saw what a hard fighter you were, I went for it. I'm really glad that I did. Then, you soon evolved into Swellow and became even more determined. Gastrodon, you were the next to come along."

"Gastrodon."

"When I first met you back when you were a Shellos, you weren't really doing that well." Davis said as he remembered what happened when they met. "You weren't exactly welcomed on the island I found you were one despite it being filled with other Shellos because you were blue and they were pink. They say it was the way of nature or something, but I thought that was baloney. That's why I wanted to give you a place you would feel welcomed and invited you to come with us. Although I did miss you evolving, it was great you came with me. Zangoose, you came next."

"Zangoose."

"When I met you, you acted like some kind of protector for a forest." Davis said as he remembered how Zangoose protected a whole forest and those who lived there. "I had to earn your trust, but I did managed to. I knew you were a true friend and that you would never let me down. You even passed on the chance to finish off Team Rocket's Serviper and saved me. That's how I knew that I would always count on you. The next that came was you, Houndoom."

"Houn."

"You were a Houndour when we first met, but you weren't exactly a team player. You were more of a lone wolf." Davis claimed as he remembered how tough it was to work with Houndoom. "Even after I caught you, you wouldn't listen before or after you evolved. Once you saw how much me and the others care, you gave us a chance and we became a great team. Finally, you came around Absol."

"Absol."

"When I first met you, you were being framed by a village. Everyone thought you were trouble, but you were really trying to help them since there was another pokemon going out of control." Davis said as he remembered how Absol was wrongfully blamed. "I knew you were innocent, and I thought you were a really cool pokemon. I was a little worried I wouldn't catch you, but you gave me a chance and came along. After that, we all set out to win the Hoenn League. Even after everything, I can always rely on you guys." Davis truly loves his pokemon and loves how they're always there for him. They all feel the same about him.

"Well, doing a little camping are we instead of staying at a hotel? That's fresh to see." All of them looked through the trees and were met with Michelle.

"Hi, Michelle!" Davis said.

"Hi, Davis. I'm glad to see you could make it." Michelle said. "I was told about our upcoming battle tomorrow."

"Yeah. I can't wait. By the way, meet the team." Davis said as he introduced his pokemon. "These were the very first pokemon I caught on my journey when I was a beginning trainer."

"These pokemon are really your first?" Michelle said as she found that interesting. She took a good look at each of them and she liked what she saw. "Marvelous. I can tell just by looking at all of you that you have a strong bond with each other."

"Sure do. We've all been through a lot together." Davis said. "I thought about what you said the last time we saw each other, so I invited these guys out here. Being with them really takes me back to when it all started for me."

"Does that mean you found your answer on what you will do next?" Michelle questioned.

"Well... No, not exactly." Davis said.

"I see, and that's all fine." Michelle said. "For now, you should be more focused on our battle. With this all in mind, I wish to see it now."

"See what?" Davis questioned.

"As you might already know, our battle tomorrow will be a full six-on-six battle." Michelle said. "I'm hoping you'll use these pokemon because I want to see just how strong the bond each of you share is."

"Our bond...?" Davis said as he thought about it and was sure of it. "You got it. I'll use these guys in our battle. I should warn you that you and Cobalion are going down."

"We'll see about that." Michelle said as she couldn't wait for this battle. Michelle has been looking for someone that could actually give her a challenge. Maybe she might find it with Davis and his pokemon.

...

The Next Day

"Welcome everyone to Gallant Coliseum!" The MC announced as the time has come for the battle. Many people have gathered to see this because they either want to see Cobalion battle or see if someone can actually beat Michelle. "We have a challenger who has faced and passed all four challenges of Pokemon Grand Orientation. Now, he is challenging the current head of it all. Does this trainer have what it takes to win? We're about to find out for here come our battlers now." Davis and Imperialdramon walked out on the field with Tetsu and Cletus following. Michelle came out on the other side. The two of them walked on over until they were facing each other and shook hands.

"Davis, congrats on making it this far. Now, this is where your skills will really be put to the test." Michelle said.

"Thanks, Michelle." Davis said. "Of course, I have no attention of losing. You want to see how strong my pokemon are, you're going to get just that."

"Allow me to explain the rules." The ref said as they faced him. "This will be a full six-on-six battle, and substitution will be allowed. The battle will be over when all of one side's pokemon can no longer battle. When one side loses three pokemon, we will have an intermission and do a field change. Does that all sound good to you?"

"Fine with me." Michelle said.

"I've got no complaints." Davis said.

"Then, we may begin." The ref said as he snapped his fingers and that was when the field opened up for their first field for the battle will begin.

The time has come for Davis to battle Michelle. If he wins, he will triumph over Pokemon Grand Orientation. With the very first pokemon team he's ever made aiding him in this battle, does Davis really have what it takes to win? Stay tuned to find out.
