"Its not supposed to do that..." Carly muttered, indifferent to the reading and fixated on the 'novelty roulette wheel'.

That had been the last thing Carly muttered for a while. Ryo had made a point to go and alert the twins about the wheel in person. When he had left the room there had been a few of the Duel Spirits hanging around, though granted Natasha took a good bit of space. Upon returning with the twins in tow the place was suddenly crowded. Mr. Jounouchi's part of Fubuki's deck were out, more of Asuka and the others were out as well, and being visible and in various degrees of solid. It felt more like stepping into a crowded class room during a 'Dress up as your favorite Duel Monster' day from when he was a kid.

The twins had the fastest way to contact Aki, even if fortune telling wasn't her thing. For Ryo it was that Aki was the most experienced in having power outside of politics or popularity. She lived it, breathed it, and if Carly needed someone it was a person like her. Someone with experience and the strength to hold her own if Carly started...

'She looks like every girl I or Asuka made the effort to greet...'

Fubuki flirted with 'every' girl, no girl regardless of her physical appearance was off his radar and it was a pretty positive experience. The girls all knew they probably had no chance, but to see the wallflowers blush and smile. See how their wilted souls perked up and then for Asuka to help coax them to help with what issues they had. The two of them would help with bad break ups, family issues... And when Fubuki disappeared... Ryo couldn't fill that gap, since he was more removed his approaches were more formal, cold, and well...

'She's a good woman, even if she's childish enough to make me forget she's our elder. But I know that look on her face, she's slipping into a power trip. We need to nip this now before it gets out of hand. Carly's already had her power taken when she got assaulted, if she gets it in her head she's some type of super esoteric power house. Without guidance or training... I don't want to be Jack.'

For a moment it struck Ryo how he missed high school. His fellow students and the opportunities to help them were now gone as everyone had dispersed.

Meanwhile Carly didn't speak or move, and on physical contact she had developed a chill which left the girls and Kazu worried over her. Literally feeling her chilled skin was both alarming and concerning so they began looking for blankets.

Where as for Carly herself?

Panic!

Her skin was tingling, from her shoulders down to the tips of her fingers, her brain and stomach both decided she had brain freeze. So much cold left her legs folded under her leaving her trapped at the table. While in the core of all that cold panic was a spark! In the back of her mind she was internally screaming 'I'M NOT USELESS ANYMORE!'

Maybe the tingling wasn't fear, perhaps it was power in her fingers! The cold in her brain and stomach was just the betrayal as she pondered if the wheel was where her 'power' came from. Spirits in the room reminding her that she met her fairies through the cards. Was she just going to throw that deck away now that she found what made her special?

Well of course not! She could keep carrying it in its holder at her hip!

She would become famous in her own right! Able to predict fortunes with absolute accuracy...

"Are you ok?"

They would call from all around the world! Of course she would be on television and radio, magazines and billboards.

"Ms. Carly?

She wouldn't be the 'plus one' anymore! The accessory hanging off the more affluent or just a meek reporter!

"I'm not surprised this happened. Big Sis noticed it too, her cocoons are starting to thin out..."

"Oh so the fairies are going to emerge soon?"

She could have her own condo that she would be rich enough to paint the walls and people would appreciate it!

"Oh yes! But how or when? I have no idea, so this could just be their powers spilling out..."

"She looks super happy sis."

People rushing up to her in the street looking to receive one of her fortunes!

A piercing pain struck her gut as the future opened before her excited eyes, possibilities running rampant in her thoughts.

Not everyone liked fortune tellers after all, but she could ignore them.

"Hmm yeah, but I think that's a bit 'too' happy?"

Some religious nut wanting to protect the 'future that is allowed to God know' was screaming in her face.

"Big Sis?"

"Oh here let me!"

"Uh Natasha! Your tail might not be the best!"

Carly got knocked off her seat as something lashed into her face with enough force to send her glasses flying. "Huh? What?!"

Natasha was prancing her way back around her long tail swishing along rather merrily, while everyone else had their eyes on her. The twins were the only new ones to the room and with the pair everyone else shared these varying degrees of concern in their expressions.

"You ok?" Junko asked finally when Carly was showing solid signs that she was aware of the room and its occupants again.

Carly gave a disgruntled shrug, a knot of resentment in her stomach as she sat there. "My face stings though," she confessed as she began patting the ground for her glasses.

From ear to nose her face pricked with a long welt feeling series of lines, making her cringe at looking at a mirror. It wasn't hard, which was scary Natasha probably gave a light swish, but if she had put force behind that swish? A few pats of the hand gave a reassurance that she wasn't bleeding yet the pain still brought tears to her eyes.

Grabbing her glasses and putting them on her face, a frown crossed Carly's lips as she looked around. "Ugh, I need to clean the lens..." she reported, they 'had' been working but as she lifted them up she could see the dust sticking to it.

As she left, Rua leaned over and gave the wheel a half hearted spin. It spun with the same energy he put into it, the clatter dying quickly.

"I believe its the fairies. They're not staying in those cocoons for long," Ruka reported as she lightly touched the pins of the wheel.

"I think its neat," Tutu noted off to the side as the spirits observed the room.

"Yes, but its also dangerous," Panther Warrior noted with a frown.

"How come?" Tutu asked with Natasha turning to face the warrior.

"Those fairies are connected to her heart, and those fairies aren't supposed to 'have' a cocoon form. For the length of our existence Fortune Fairies 'never' go into that state. Who knows how they'll emerge. Will there be feed back? At best they'll just open and the fairies will spill out, at worse there could be a negative reaction from Carly."

"There's the positivity we look for in our Warrior," the Dice fairy and devil both snorted.

"I do read you two." Panther Warrior growled at the pair, turning his head to face the pair.

"Reading is for Magicians, just do your job and kill things." Devil retorted mockingly as they floated up to eye level with Panther.

"How about I kill both of you?" The deep purple furred warrior growled menacingly as he reached for his sword.

"You want to pray to RNGesus that you actually hit?" Angel asked joining Devil as she held her dice up in challenge.

Kazu exchanged glances with Fubuki, long enough to raise an eyebrow, glance at the wall where the group was clustered at and then back at Fubuki.

"My deck works fine, with me... it has problems within its own ranks," Fubuki confessed with a lazy half smile. "They haven't murdered each other or me so I take it as a win!"

"Have I told you that you are friends with an idiot?" Queen asked from the couch. The same one everyone had vacated when they went to fetch the twins. Meaning soft fabric fit for a queen under her paws and she LOVED it.

"Well, I think we should move on to what the reading said. We 'can' rescue Yusuke and the others, but its not going to be easy. Realistically I think Yubel is going to be the big problem, it would be one thing if they were just an evil whatever. But they got corrupted, and that probably just makes whatever was done to Judai that much stronger," Ryo pointed out. He didn't even raise his voice, yet it was the seriousness that consumed the chatty atmosphere and brought everyone's attention back.

"Its not like they're the only one either, this Trueman guy, spirit, whatever, is also part of it..."

"Intel isn't like in the human world too. Sure we have ninjas, but they're about the only real 'spies' we have in our world," Blader added.

"And if we get clumsy, well they could try to threaten Ancient Fairy, or if they know or have Honest..." Fubuki added.

"Darkness, as a group, well the group feeds on negative emotions. Mostly those borne from abandonment, which makes sense because they were borne from Duel Spirits that had been abusively abandoned." Fubuki explained to no one in particular. "I guess that's what helped keep a little bit of me free of them. I don't have abandonment issues. But knowing Aki, I would believe that there's another element to Darkness, that they like to go for the weak. Aki isn't so as abandoned as she felt, she was never in a position of absolute weakness."

"But wouldn't her powers make her an asset? I mean the group she joined benefited from people like her." Tutu asked as she looked about at her elder spirits.

"She would be, but given how Fubuki was dressed. I suspect that any one from the group showing up might have alarmed her. If she felt threatened she'd just use her powers to drive them away, so it wouldn't be as though they could force her to listen to what they have to say..."

"Yeah, makes sense, where as with Yusuke he probably would listen out of just having someone around... Judai and Jesse were out right kidnapped so who knows what type of brain washing they got subjected to." Kazu agreed nodding as he tried to get Queen to move her front paws for him. Please?

"That probably is why they keep targeting you and not the gang above," Carly commented, her voice more composed as the others turned to watch her. "They probably see you as a bunch of useless people with no power of your own. You have to keep running to Aki or Ruka to get any real 'power' for your effort."

"Targeting the weakest, like when people target kids like us," Ruka nodded. "If Lord Yugi hadn't corrected Big Brother about my heart, I'd probably still be taking those unnecessary pills.."

"And thus still the weak link among them," Asuka nodded as the sound of the elevator activated as it began to lower.

"Its just me now!" Rua false cheered while everyone frowned at him.

"Don't put yourself down like that Little Rua!" Momoe chided. "You've been a wonderful, supportive help to everyone you meet! You bring us up when we feel down, you shouldn't underestimate how much your support means to us!"

"Momoe is right, also you've been improving in your dueling for the past several months clearly. Yusei even noted that your skills have grown from leaps and bounds as your sister recovered, you've even been giving Lord Ryu some tips for dueling." Ryo noted firmly.

"Is Little Rua being down on himself again?" Crow chirped up as he with the other Dragons started entering the room with Ryu in the lead.

"You're back!" Junko cheered as she waved earning a polite nod from Aki and a more stern nod from Yusei.

"We got the message about Carly's little Wheel of Fortune..." Yusei explained, earning a sharp glare from Jack that screamed daggers and Kingly Fury. Aki's politeness became more tight and resigned.

What no one else saw was Rua holding fingers and placing bets with Crow over how long until Aki started in on the pair for being 'idiot teenagers' while 'on duty as Dragons'.

"Its not my... ok so maybe it kind of is..." Carly sulked as she went to sit down along with the others.

"Well, would it be ok if you demonstrated it for us, Carly?" Aki asked as she settled down next to Yusei. Jack settled down next to Carly in his pristine white riding suit while Crow dropped himself down next to Fubuki after giving the guy a high five greeting.

Ryu planted himself next to Rua. Sitting next to Ruka wouldn't happen, Rua would just move to get between them.

"Well with no question," Carly began as she set the wheel into position before she began spinning it.

Filling the air with the same clattering as before that wouldn't slow down as everyone sat there. Even if half the room saw this less than half an hour ago, it was still incredibly eerie to behold, and the cocoons weren't do anything obvious. Even with two Psychic duelists in the room, nothing appeared out of the ordinary.

"Anyone have a question?" Carly finally asked.

"Its not going to stop until you give it one?" Crow asked as he leaned over in curiosity.

"Yes," Ryo answered firmly, "she tried everything and we were all here to watch as well."

"Don't forget the Fairies have specific fortunes assigned to them as well, so if you're thinking of one. Don't try to ask it something that they can't easily answer."

"What are the chances I'll see Patty soon? Her Grandmother is walking again!" Ruka blurted out her eyes bright and hopeful as she looked at Carly.

"What? That's aww- sorry Yusei..." Crow began only to be cut off by Yusei's 'tone it down' expression.

"Oh that's a great question!" Multiple voices lent their support to the question.

Carly nodded once, planted her hands in a dramatic fashion on either side of the wheel and focused. "What are the chances that Little Ruka can see her friend Patty again soon?"

'The hell? She sounds like those shady robe wearing idiots that I would run across while driving before Yusei left Satellite.' Jack groused internally only for the wheel to steal his focus.

It stuttered, unlike before where it slammed to a stop it was flickering between fiery red En and hopeful light fused Hikari. Back and forth as though it couldn't settle on a particular prediction save it was a great one.

"We get the point, its a great fortune," Carly told the wheel allowing it to settle down on En's passionate red slice.

"It is creepy to see it flicking between the two of them," Aki noted as she studied the wheel, nothing seemed out of the ordinary the wheel wasn't being influenced. "Carly come with me I want to talk to you about what happened..."

Jack started at Aki's commanding tone, even Yusei and Crow straightened in their seats as Carly stood up. But Ruka was over the moon and it was big enough moon that Crow reaffixed his focus onto her. "Soooo Patty's Grandma?"

"Oh yes! She's walking unaided!" Ruka beamed and soon was in a cheery conversation about that day's check in with her friend.

'I hope they're ok...' Asuka thought to herself as she watched Aki and Carly in the distance. So far Aki's arms weren't crossed so she was open and receptive to their conversation. But Carly's were folded, guarded a sign that she was protecting her new ability.
