Ravens learning to fly.
I sighed as today the first day of mine and Touji new life as students of the Onmyou Academy. we stood outside of large building and Touji look impressive. "Got to say this place is pretty nice." He said dress in a black Blazer and jeans as he looked at me. "And why do you have a different uniform to me?" He asked as i got sent by the school a different type of uniform.
My uniform is the same as Touji but the colours are different as his is black and mine is grey and a red logo on my right sleeve that in the shape of a eastern dragon. I sighed. "A teacher here really hates me." I said as i looked at my friend who grinning like a fool.
"Oh what did you do?" He laughed. "Eat his sandwich of something?" He asked as i looked away and answered.
"I managed to mess up a spell and mistakenly sealed his powers." Touji looked at me as if i am a monster and i looked at my uniform. "And from what i can tell this thing is enchanted with a protection magic." I said as it good enchantment. Touji just rolls his eyes. "So should we go inside?" I asked as Touji nodded.
As we walked into the main hall way a pair of stone Komainus stood on both side of the main door. "Touji Ato." Touji look at the Komainus. "We have resigned your Spirit energy and we hope you become a Onmyou mage." Touji looked at me confused as i smiled.
"Alpha, Omega." I said as walked passed and Touji followed me as the pair familiars said something that got my attention.
"Master Ryun, We have resigned all your Familiars and Welcome back." I nodded as Touji looked at me oddly as I walked on inside of the Onmyou Academy.
"So what going on?" Touji asked as i chuckled. "You never said anything about this?" Touji asked as i just smiled at him.
"It along story." I answered him as we both walked into the main entrance and meet by a large clock that ticking away. I stretching my arms out. "It good to be back home." It was then that a small brown cat came walking down from the large staircase.
"Welcome to Onmyou academy." Touji looked at the cat that is speaking to us and i just kneeled down and begin stroking her head. "Welcome back Mr Tsuchimikado now would you both please come to my office?" The cat said as i nodded and stood up. Touji and i followed the Cat to her master office.
"Ryun, i am going to ask now, but why does everyone know you?" He asked and I sighed.
"I was under the care of the headmaster here and i studied how to be a Onmyou mage, but i lost my will to become one." I said to my best friend. "I lost someone close to me." I looked at Touji who nodded and understood that I don't want to talk about the past.
After a few minutes we made it to the office.
Touji and i stood inside of the room with a fancy office with a lovely old woman sit behind of an oak desk, this woman is wearing a dark green kimono as she begin stroking her cat that on her lap. "My name is Miyo Kurahashi and I am the director of Onmyou Academy." She give us a small bow. "I welcome you Touji Ato." Touji looked at the old woman kind of confused since she didn't address me. "I hope you spent your time to become the best Onmyou mage you can be." I chuckled as my friend nodded and then Miyo looked at me. "And Mr Tsuchimikado." I stoke my head.
"Please Grandmother, call me Ryun." She smiled and nodded. "I am not Natsume so we don't have to be formal." Miyo nodded.
Touji looked between us. "Ok man what going on here?" Touji asked as i looked at Miyo who nodded and she got his attention.
"Ryun here used to be a student here over 2 years." Touji looked at me as I nodded. "He formally left our academy after an assignment he was in-charged of failed." Touji eyes widened as Miyo told him this.
"The spiritual disaster 2 year ago?" Touji asked as I nodded. Miyo looked between us both. "So that why you quit?" I looked away from him.
"I did more damage for following thought with what my teacher told me to do and look what happened." Touji sighed and punched my left arm.
"You shouldn't worry about the past man." He said with a smile and i smiled back at my best friend, this in turn made Miyo smile too. "So how strong was this guy anywhere?" Touji asked before the door to the office opened and in came a tall man with green eyes, long green hair, which later changed to white. He wears glasses and is always seen in a grey suit, with a black necktie and a beige shirt. Also, he lost the lower half of his right leg and now is replaced with a wooden leg. He also uses a crutch to walk.
"He was a good student of mine." The guy said as i rolled my eye on seeing him and grinned. "Long time to no see Ryun." he wave at me and i nodded
"Same to you master." I bowed.
the man looked at Touji. "My name is Jin Ohtomo and i am sorry excuse of a teacher here." Jin said and Touji just grinned. Jin looked at my cheek. "I see you became a familiar?" He asked as I nodded.
"Yes i am Natsume Tsuchimikado familiar." I held my right arm and Jin noticed this and sighed.
"Come on and i will show you to your class." Jin said as Touji and I followed his lead as we walked down the hallway Jin spoke up. "So Touji how much do you know for the The spiritual disaster 2 year ago?" Jin asked without looking at Touji who held his head.
"I got catch up in it, wrong place wrong time." Touji confessed as Jin smiled. "Ryun dragged my ass out of the mess and has been at my side ever since." Touji looked at me as I smiled.
"Well did you know that Ryun used to be one of the Twelve Divine General?" Touji looked at me in shocked as I sighed. "But he never take the title and the media called him the thirteen General also know as." I spoke up
"Divine general Emperor." I said as Touji looked at me oddly as i sighed and signalled two of my familiars that are Emperor class mechanical-type man-made shikigami. that is dark crimson red colour armour with orange flame on his head and a second Dark green colour armour with a purple flame on his head. his eyes widened.
"That an gen 1 right?" Jin smiled as Touji asked.
"No that the Gen 0 Emperors Dusk and Dawn that are more powerful then any generation for the Emperors that the Onmyo Agency can make, but the down side of that class for Emperor is the spirit energy needed to maintain and the willpower control them." Touji blinked as I made my Emperor disappear. "Ryun here used to be the Prodigy before Suzuka Dairenji had her debuted."
Touji looked like he remember something. "Didn't you have a girlfriend named Suzuka?" He asked me as i nodded as Touji and I have been clean with each other, no secrets.
"The Prodigy herself." His eyes widened. "Her brother and I used to be childhood best friend as Suzuka and I become close, but after her brother dead and her father when mad, we cut contact with each other to save the pain for both lost for a dear friend and the love we shared." Jin spoke up after I explained.
"Touji, please keep Ryun secret of being a Divine general to yourself?" Touji nodded without thinking of it.
"He my best friend and to be honest i own him alot." I just smiled as Touji pulled me into a one arm hug and I throw my left arm around his neck to hug him back. Jin only smiled.
"I'm glad you find a friend you can count on." He said before his smiled turned evil. "Also..." He looked at my uniform. "How do you like my hand me down?" I looked at him with widened eyes. "That the 36th class old uniform." My eye twisted and i take a deep breath. "that just so happens to be mine and I most say you are doing me proud wearing it."
"Normally I would have summoned all my familiar to kill you." I said in a dark tone and Jin just grinned. "But you are my old master, so I will wear what I am given." I just swallowed my pride and just walked passed him and Jin laughed.
"That a first." He said and i stopped to look at him and he didn't look impressed as his heir covered his eye. "You used to mouth off and just storm into rage." I just smiled.
"It just show how much I growth and how I learnt the hard way." Jin looked at me oddly. "As you once said the world of adult is hard and sometime didn't make sense." Jin had a look for shock before it turned to one of happiness. "Also sometime you needed to Swallowed your pride, A lesson from Zenjirou Kogure himself." Jin nodded.
"I see you take you our lessons to heart." He said before walking passed me to a classroom close by. "Now time to welcome you to your new class." He opened the door to a large classroom full of students most wearing the male uniform and the female students wearing a white jacking, grey shirt with an orange tie and a urquoise skirts. "Ok class today who have some new students adding us." He waved us in and as Touji and I walked the first person I spotted was Natsume who looked a little nervous and i smiled to her to claim her down. 'Sorry to keep you wait.' I said in my mind and she smiled as if she heard me before I put my game face on and faced the class.
"The name Touji Ato." Touji said clear and i followed suit.
"My name is Ryun Tsuchimikado." I said and everyone eyes widened. "We both are familiars for your classmate Natsume Tsuchimikado." Touji looked at me in the corner of his eyes but played along.
"WHAT THIS THE MEANING FOR THIS!" Someone shouted and i looked to see the beautiful girl from yesterday. she stood up. "You should have waited for the next school year to come into this class?" I looked at her oddly. 'Where have i seen this girl before?' I thought to myself as i remembered meeting someone like this in the part but nothing come to mind. "I bet the Tsuchimikado family pulled some string to allow you to enrol here?" She claimed and i could see Natsume getting pissed off and before she blow her top, I spoke up.
"I think you should watch what you say." I said and she looked at me with hate, but that ended once fear kicked in as I released a killing aura around myself. "Because the next words that come out of your mouth better not be about my little brother family." my eyes shifted colour to a bright green colour making everyone hold they breath. "Because the Tsuchimikado didn't have even thing to do with us enrolling since the headmistress herself allowed us." I closed my eyes to claim down. "Master are we ok to take our seats?" I asked as Jin just smiled and nodded.
"Yes you can and don't mind Kyouko." I nodded before Touji and i got to our seats on my way passed this Kyouko girl who seat on row 3 and just one row before Natsume i looked at her with hate before Touji take a seat behind Natsume and I looked at a guy sitting next to her.
"Would you mind if I can sit next to my master?" I asked as the Guy didn't speak but just stood up and moved without a word and retreated to the back of the room and I take my seat only for Natsume to look at me worried, but i just smiled. "I am fine little bro." She smiled and nodded. Jin begin class and everything just fell into place, but throughout the lesson i just watched Jin teaching wells holding onto the end of Natsume jacket, she looked at me a few time and she most have noted my weakness kicking in. She used her free left hand to take a hold of my right hand and i looked at her oddly as she smiled and i nodded before closing my eyes just waiting for this lesson to end.
I don't know hold long I was out for, but all I remember was Natsume pinching my cheek to wake me up. As for right now I held my right cheek as both Natsume and I are walking to the mess hall for launch, Touji decided to look around the school. "Damn it Ryun you should have told me that you was having an anxiety attack." I sighed as i kind of suffer from anxiety from time to time and being in this school with tons of people is one thing, but what i did in class just send me into a full blown anxiety attack that thankfully Jin hided this with Magic and just put me to sleep.
"Sorry Nats." I said only for Natsume to sigh.
"It fine, but what happened with you back there?" I looked at her oddly. "It was like you was ready to kill Kyouko?" She asked as i sighed again and begin starching the back of my head.
"I just didn't want you dealing with person putting you down, so that why i spoke up and my protective side take over." I joked and Natsume sighed. "I didn't mean to step out of line." I confess only for Natsume at punch my arm softly.
"Your an idiot sometime." I chuckled as Natsume begin pouting, i find this to be cute. "Just be careful around Kyouko." I nodded as Natsume smiled. "Good because your buying lunch." I rolled my eyes as i walked along with Natsume, but in the cover of my eye i spotted a shadow familiar watching us, from one of the beans above.
"Lix." I said quietly and the Familiar turned to dust. 'cheap ass watcher.' i find this to be odd. 'Does this have Something to do with Natsume being reincarnation of Yakou.' I heard rumours going around the house about Natsume being the reincarnation of one of our ancestors and it away been a problem for her. I looked at Natsume who look so cheerful with pity as she hiding behind her mask because deep within, she holding onto a problem of the Tsuchimikado names and i can just see sadness and hardships she grow up with. she has no freedom to spread her wing and fly to the sky that awaits her. I shook my head before and rolled up my sleeve. "Hey Natsume got something to show you." I said as Natsume looked at me oddly and then she look at my right arm.
"A Seal?" I nodded. "But why do you have that?" Natsume asked as i looked around to see students around us. I waved to her to signal walk and talk, Natsume followed.
"Remember when I said that used to study under Jin?" I asked as Natsume nodded.
"Mr Ohtomo said something about you being his student the other day?" I nodded as i know Jin is one of plant seed of rumours just to make trouble. "And what this got to do with you having a seal?" I sighed.
"Honestly I quit being an Onmyouji after i fucked up and this seal is to keep my powers in line." I said before rolling my sleeve down and Natsume looked at me worried.
"Can I ask what happened?" I could hear the screaming of the past and rage of someone close to me.
"Sorry, but it something I want to keep hidden and if i told you then MIB will be all over your ass." Natsume nodded understanding that something are meant to stay hidden. "I just wanted to let you know about this and to let you know that you can remove it with just a single order." Natsume begin thinking and then spoke.
"Release Seal." She order before the seal on my face and then my arm acted and the seal on my arms disappeared and this alone released a large amount of built up power and then sent a single shock wave out of my body and this maybe everyone around us shielded they face or skirts for the girls. Natsume jaw just dropped as i putted in the power and i looked at her. "That a lot of magic." She said as I sighed. "Just how long did you plan on hiding this from me?" She asked as I chuckled.
"Not sure, but I got a little task for you." Natsume looked at me as i pointed to her heart and she blushed since my finger is kind of close to her breasts. "You have until the end of the day to find all the names for the 13 Divine generals." she looked at me oddly. "Think of it like a test for an Onmyou agent, but it can only be the nicknames." Natsume sighed.
"This is your way for telling me something?" I nodded. "Fine." She said with an annoyed hint in her voice. "But let go get some food first." She said as i nodded to that.
"Right behind you partner." I followed on behind her but then my phone started going off. Natsume looked at me as i pulled out my phone and the ID said 'Shadow M.' I sighed. "Natsume go on without me." She looked at me a little worried. "It work." I said and Natsume is confused. "Just go on and i will catch up." Natsume nodded before she could walk off, i kissed her forehead making her blush bright red. "Protect." I casted a spell on her. "That should keep you safe." Natsume blinked and then rushed off and I smiled as I answered. "What up Jin?" I asked and the person on the line is my teacher.
"Did you just released your seal on school grounds?" He sound panicked as i just walked over to a wall and leaned against it. "Did something happen?" I shook my head.
"Nothing happened, Natsume decided to remove my seal and I can't disobey my master can I?" I asked as Jin sighed.
"well I can't stop you, but i should let you know that something happened two day ago?" Jin begin explaining and my anger begin building up. "Someone from the twin horn tried to kidnap Natsume from his dorm." I growled with anger. "And i know just how protective you are over him, so just a heads up the MIB have been question him." Jin spoke calmly to me and this help me to calm down.
"You do know that some of MIB are Twin horns right?" I asked as Jin nodded. "Do you trust the guy questioning Natsume?" Jin shook his head. "Good, because by the end of this week MIB wouldn't be coming anyway close Natsume." I hear Jin laughing to himself.
"You really do care for him?" I looked at my left hand wells smiling.
"Natsume the close person i have to a sibling." I said before looking outside to the clear sky. "And with all the bullshit that the family has put onto him, i have to be his pillar, someone who will keep him from falling."
"Just like how Suzuka had you?" Jin had to bring that up.
"Not cool." I said calmly and Jin hummed.
"Speaking for her?" I take interest. "Some people are trying to push more crimes onto miss Suzuka and will since you asked 3 Divine generals to watch out for her, it kind of pissed off a lot of people." I sighed knowing what i am doing could be used against if word got out about this. "But luckily for you an old friend is keeping her under house arrest until next year where she will be enrolled here." I held my face and smiled.
"Thanks Jin, I own you." I hear Jin chucklely to himself.
"Just keep Natsume head above water and out of trouble." I nodded. "Also keep your head up too."
"I will, but for right now I needed to find Natsume before he find out about me." Jin laughed as I ended the call and looked at my phone with smile. "Thank uncle." It was then an images for Hokuto smiling in front of sunflowers appeared in the front of my mind and tears begin rolling down my cheeks.
"Thinking about Hokuto?" I looked up to see Touji stood there where with a small smile on his face as he offer me a handkerchief. I take it and nodded. "You loved her dearly." He leaned on the wall next to me as I nodded.
"I am still coming to terms with her dead." I held onto my blazer. "I know she was just a familiar, but she..." I stopped myself from bring up more memories. "to me she was human." Touji smiled before patted my back.
"She out there somewhere." I smiled from my pitiful stat.
"I know." Both Touji and I just stood there together remembering our old friend.
After school Touji and Natsume decided to head home early as i stay behind to do some later studying in the library. I was sit down reading a book on common style of magic as the light from the outside is getting darker. "That a shocker." I heard someone from behind me and i know i am the only one here since everyone else has left the school, so i turned and rolled my eyes to see Kyouko stood over me with a cocky smile. "Not going with your master?" She said trying to get under my skin but i returned to look at my book and continued to read.
"Natsume told me that i have free time, so i am studying up on common forms for magic." I explain as Kyouko looked at the book to see is Book on 'Curses for the sky.' and this book show that some smalls curse are dangerous and first years wouldn't learn this until they're second year. "I just brushing over the basic again since it been 2 years since my last visit here." I said in a neutral tone and Kyouko looked at me oddly.
"Why aren't you mad at me?" Kyouko asked as I smiled.
"Because one of my teachers old saying was 'Swallowed your pride' and since you back down, i don't have to come after you." I said with as i looked at Kyouko with kind smiled. "So let started again." I turned my body to face Kyouko as I offered out my hand to her. "My name Ryun Tsuchimikado and i am the head of the Tsuchimikado breach family." Kyouko looked at me oddly.
"Head of the Breach family?" She asked as I nodded.
"I am also Natsume familiar along with my best friend who is also here as his bodyguard." Kyouko looked at me in shock. "Just so you know Touji and I are strong." I said take lowing my hand before my look turned dark. "And also the Tsuchimikado didn't have anything to do with us joining this school as it was grandmother who enrolled us on my behalf." Kyouko take a step back as i take a step forward and leaned in closed to her ear. "Tell Natsume that we spoke..." Kyouko eyes widened as she looked at me in the corner of her eye and my face could of been classed as a murderer. "And I will break you." I walked passed as Kyouko stood there for a good minute as i reached the middle of the room and she then shouted.
"Why did you even come here?" This got me to stop as Kyouko continued. "I know that your Natsume's familiar but from what rumours say you used to be a student here?" She asked and I smiled before turning to her with a chucky smile.
"You seem to asking me a lot of question that our grandmother could answer?" I asked back and she is taken back by this. "Because to answer your question, Yes I was a student here and no I am not going to get you the reason for why I returned now." I said before turning again. "So do us both a favor and leave both Natsume and Me alone." I lowered my head. "Because unlike us your family didn't have a dark history like we Tsuchimikado do." She looked at the ground as I said this. "Your lucky that your family broke off from us along time ago, Save us both the trouble." I said before walking off again but this Kyouko asked me something that I been think ever since I see her.
"Do you know if Natsure made any promises as a children to any girls?" I stopped and turned quickly to see Kyouko looking a little red in the face and I shook my head.
"Not from what I know of, but Natsure would have told me as up until 3 years ago we were at each other sides." Kyouko looked depressed for hearing this.
"So he really has forgotten." Flashes of the girl I made a promise too come to mind again. 'Why do I keep remembering that day?' I though to myself.
"What type of Promise did you two make?" I asked as Kyouko looked me in the eyes this time. "Maybe he told me at one point but we tell each other everything so it may have gotten mixed up." I said and she sighed.
"It stupid but we made a promise to see each other again after I lose my ribbon one summer." My eyes widened. "Ever since then he been acting like he never hear of it or even reminds me." I sighed as she told me this.
"Listen Kyouko?" I walked up to the young girl and placed my right hand on her shoulder and she looked at me confused. "A Promise to meet each other again can be early missed because think about what he going though?" Kyouko looked like she thinking it over. "I know that Natsume wouldn't have forgotten something like that lightly, but I know I am going to sound odd saying this, but you may have gotten Natsume and someone else mixed up." Kyouko slapped my hand away.
"NO I KNOW IT WAS HIM!" I could it in her eyes that she felt abandon and I could only smile.
"If that is what you believe then." I said was looking at my hand before smiling. "But don't come crying to me if you get rejected." I said as I walked passed her but not before patting her head. "Because I am not good with crying girls." I continued walked out of the library as my phone begin ring. "Hey Nats?" I answered knowing it Natsume.
"Ryun where are you?" She asked bluntly as I chuckled.
"library, but I just finished and heading back to the dorm." I said as I turned to see Kyouko looking at me and this confused me a little but I shrugged it off. "So where are you?" I asked before she answered.
"Outside of the school." She said and I nodded.
"Ok give me one second." I said cheerfully as I left the library and I decided to mess with Natsume a little. "So how was your and Touji date?" I said only for Natsume to scream.
"WE ARE NOT DATING!" I had to pull the phone away a little and laughed as she is so easy to mess with sometime. "So did you find what you was looking for?" She asked a little annoyed as I smiled.
"Yeah and run into some headaches as this Library staff stopped me from reading a few 3rd year books, but hey I can just ask Jin to get me the books anyway." I said as I walked down the halls to the main staircase to where I find Natsume waiting at the bottom. "Also there something I been wanting to ask you?" I take a few step back to hide around the corner. "What this I heard about you being almost kidnap?" I asked and I could feel Natsume freezing up, she didn't speak of a few seconds before taking a deep breath.
"I didn't want to worry you." She said softly and I felt the guilt within her and I sighed.
"Put in a request to move to the male dorm." I said and she flinched on hearing this as I come out of hidden and spoke loudly so she heard though the phone and with her own ears. "IT MY JOB TO PROTECT YOU!" I shouted as she turned to me in shock as I grinned to her and ended the call well walking down the stairs. "Not only as your familiar, but as your family too." I walked up to her as she blushed alittle which I couldn't help but smile and pat her head making her looked at me in a cute way. "We made a promise to not hide important stuff from each other." She just shyly looked away.
"Can we go now?" She asked as I removed my hand and nodded.
"Sure." we both headed out, but as we did I spotted another watcher hiding in the shadow and quietly destory it with a little bit of magic. 'Another watcher?' I questioned this as I looked at Natsume who looked to be enjoying herself for something. 'Something not adding up.' As we left the school, I felt someone watching us and I turned a little to see someone hiding around one of the main pillars. 'So she being followed?' I thought to myself before Natsume pulled on my right arm and I turned to her. "What up?" I asked as she looked a little worried.
"Is there something wrong?" She asked as I am a little confused on why she asking. "You making that face where your looking for something?" I sighed as she asked this and nodded.
"Just had a feeling of someone watching us that all." As I said this Kyouko came running out of the school. "Is that Kurahashi?" I asked as Natsume and I looked at her as Kyouko looked around before spotting us together and rushed over. "What up Kurahashi?" I called Kyouko by her last name and she looked at me a little coldly.
"I am not here to speak with you." Kyouko growled at me as I held up my hands with a small smile.
"Ok Princess, I will back off." I looked at Natsume who looked at me oddly as I leaned into her ear. "Try and make some friends." I said quietly and she blushed as I kept my grin. "It will be lonely if you don't have anyone to relay on." I said before walking off. "Kept Natsume out of trouble of me Kurahashi?" I said as I waved to them.
"RYUN!?" Natsume called out to me and I stopped. "Where are you going?" She asked as I turned to look over my shoulder.
"I have go and put in that Request for you remember?" She blinked before remembering what we talked about. "But why don't you take sometime to get to know Kurahashi since your both are the next heads of both families and who knows?" I shrugged as I begin walking again. "Maybe you both will needed each other help in the future." I said my peace and walked down the street and head to back-alley close to the school to find Jin waiting for me with a smoke in his month.
"Take you long enough." He said making me smile a little as he ranged into his suit pocket and pulled out a small bottle of whisky before passing it over to me and I opened it to drink. "So how your first at school?" He asked as I sit down next to him with my drink.
"Someone is watching Natsume with some familiars." Jin sighed on hearing this.
"So someone has been using familiars within the school." he take a mouth full in of smoke before blowing it out. "Did you find out who watching him?" I shook my head. "Well then." I just take another drink.
"No, but I have a feeling they will make they move sometime within the week." Jin looked at me oddly. "I place my familiars on guard mode with Natsume right now." As I said this both Natsume and Kyouko both pair us talking with each other and my familiars appeared a little behind them in ghost mode. "Also I need a favor?" I looked up at Jin who has an eyebrow raised a little. "Could you put in a request of Natsume, Touji and myself to get one of the group dorm room?" Jin creaked a smile.
"Oh you want one of the bigger room?" He held out out his right hand and rubbed his fingers together making me roll my eyes. "It going to cost you?" I just finished the last of my drink and felt my head getting a little dizzy from drinking to fast.
"I will pay up." I said as I got up and Jin laughed. "Also can you keep the MIB off Natsume?" Jin sighed as he knew what I am thinking.
"I can limit the visits, but outright stopping it would make a few problem." I nodded as he said this. "Why what are you thinking?" He asked as I picked up my bag and held it over my left shoulder and throw the empty bottle in a trash bin on the other side of the alley.
"Two-horn." I only have to say and Jin's hair cover his eyes. "Are you going to stop me?" I asked and he nodded.
"Only if you start going crazy." He said with a smile and I just grinned. "But please do me a favor and keep the man alive?" I only nodded before walking away. "Thank you Emperor." He said before disappearing in a cloud of Crows that flapped away.
