Day 80
It had been a few days since she had gotten the chance to hangout with Dabi. They'd started to be at a level where they'd message one another on the regular. The simple pings on her phone would always bring a small smile to her face.
He was the only person that she messaged and their conversations were nothing and something all at once.
Dabi was working… Whatever it was that he did for work. He had mentioned that he was a recruit and he'd often text to complain about the fact that common sense was becoming less common. Well, that was the nice way of saying it. Dabi definitely had a more colorful vocabulary.
She was getting tired of seeing Digit's judgmental face whenever Dabi would come over to their place. Her mind was lost in thought and never expected to be stopped in her trail.
The last thing she expected was to bump into Hawks on the wrong side of town.
"What are you doing in this neighborhood?"
Hearing his voice and seeing him standing just a few feet away from him had her in a bit of a shock. The last time she had seen the man was when they had agreed to go separate ways.
When her heart had been broken and she ended up in such a mundane life. Sure that's what led her to getting Digit as a roommate and thus meeting Dabi, but the point was still there.
Now here he stands. Not as her boyfriend. Not as Keigo. He stood there as Hawks, in his hero uniform and asking her about her location.
"None of your business." Because it wasn't his business. But she also didn't want to admit to being on the wrong side of town because she was seeing and sleeping with a man that was probably doing sketchy stuff for money.
Silence. Ali felt as Hawks eyes roamed over her body. Taking in her appearance. It made her feel like she was naked in front of him. He was one of the only other people she had been vulnerable with.
"Were you meeting someone." She didn't have to answer and was sure that her blush answered for her. He was a pro hero for a reason.
Her eyes saw his body tense up at her reaction. Understand that her lack of an answer was the answer. Was he… angry?
He had no right.
"You should be careful hooking up with the people around here." Ali could hear the words unspoken in between. He didn't like the idea of her sleeping with anyone at all. After everything he had done.
He had no right.
She thinks back to the last time she was intimate with Hawks. Yes, Hawks. Or maybe it was a broken Keigo. Either way the feeling of being used to make his guilty cheating conscious feel better was making her feel disgusting and angry.
He had no right.
"Would you like for me to escort you to his place?"
No.
Ali looks into Hawks eyes. She hoped that he could feel and see all of the emotions that were going through her. The hurt and the anger. And she saw the flash of recognition in his eyes as he looked back at her. But ultimately his face went back to that of a possessive ex-boyfriend.
And he had no right.
So she turns away from him and walks back toward her apartment. She ignored his calls. They didn't last long. He probably didn't want to cause a scene in a bad neighborhood.
