Chapter 19

Sam POV
Bella was hurting. I could feel it. And it was constant. I could feel it all the time and I hated it for her. She'd thought that when she'd gone to Italy to help Alice that everything was going to work out in her favor. Unfortunately it wasn't looking like that was going to happen. Fortunately the Cullen's were coming back and they were going to sit down with us so that we could make a plan. There were two things we were fighting against right now. The first was the Volturi and the second was Edward. We had no idea what to expect from Edward. Every time one of the wolves howled Bella would get antsy. I knew that it wasn't because she was worried that one of the wolves was hurt, it was because she was worried that Edward was back. She was even having nightmares. She hadn't had them since I'd imprinted on her. Charlie had told me about them. He'd told me that she'd wake up screaming bloody murder.
I needed to find a way to get her out of this deal with the Volturi, but the only thing I could think of was if we fought them all.
A couple of days after Carlisle had called, he called again letting me know that they were back. We'd decided the two of them and two of us plus Bella would meet that evening at Charlie's that way we could all sit down and come up with a plan. Now I just had to tell Bella.
Bella POV
I couldn't believe that it was happening again. I'd been having nightmares again. I knew that Sam was worried even though he hadn't said anything. When Sam had gotten back from Patrol this afternoon, he'd told me that we were going to Forks this evening. When I questioned him about it, he told me the a couple of the Cullen's were meeting us at Charlie's and that we were going to come up with a plan on dealing with the Volturi.
When we got to Charlie's, Sam led me into the house with Jared following. When we walked into the living room, the three of us sat on the couch while Carlisle and Emmett sat across from us on the loveseat and Charlie in his recliner. "Thanks for letting us meet here." Carlisle said to Charlie.
"Well, Sam, Billy and I agree that my house can be used as neutral territory." Charlie said.
Carlisle nodded. He turned to look at Sam. "So as I told you, Aro has decided that he will not let Bella out of the agreement. I tried to bargain with him but the only thing he would want is Alice and Edward. Alice won't leave Jasper and she won't let Jasper live in Votlerra. So if we can strengthen our numbers then we might stand a chance at fighting them." Carlisle said.
"Well the only way for the pack to grow in numbers is if a new wolf phases. That only happens due to the presence of Vampires." Sam told him.
"Okay, I have some friends…allies if you will that I can call. I'm sure that they'd help us." Carlisle said.
"Are they like you?" Jared asked him. I knew what he was hinting at. Jared wanted to know if these would be red-eyed vampires.
"Some, but not all." Carlisle told him.
"If they don't feed in the area, I can allow it." Sam told him, surprising me.
Carlisle nodded. "I will make some phone calls." Carlisle said.
"Once we strengthen in numbers then what?" Sam asked.
"Then we have to get word to Aro. Make him think that there's a group rising against him." Carlisle told us. "If we can do that, Alice should be able to get a vision about what Aro plans to do. It could be when he plans to come, where he'll be, how many is with him. It all depends on what he decides."
We all nodded. "What about Edward?" I asked.
"Alice had a vision that he's gone south for the moment. Whatever he decides to do, she'll see it and we can plan. Edward isn't thinking clear right now." Emmett said. "Rose is on standby. If for whatever reason we need to get you away, she has a bag already packed in the trunk of the car. All you'll have to do is call her and get to the treaty line."
I nodded before looking up at Sam. He gave me a small smile. It wasn't long after that, that we headed back to the reservation. When we pulled into the driveway, Jared hugged me before heading to go see Kim. I could understand that with everything going on, especially after spending the evening with Vampires that he'd want to physically see that she was okay.
Leah had gone back to Sue's which I was kinda grateful for. I didn't really want anyone around right now.
As Sam and I locked up the house and made our way upstairs, I couldn't help but think that something bad was going to happen. It would either be me, Charlie or one of my wolves.
