Three

"Because damn it, you belong with us. You are a good damn hunter." Dean returned as he shut the door, he didn't want to wake up Sam if they started yelling and screaming at each other, "You belong with me."

"Your exact words were Dean, women shouldn't be hunting. They are only distractions. That I was a distraction. Pretty sure that's what your dad said too after Savannah almost got us all killed." In an effort to keep her anger in check, she started yanking her hair into a ponytail, "You said that I was never going to be anything more than a piece of ass!" "I lied okay!" His own voice raised and he slammed the door shut.

"What?" She was so surprised that he even admitted to that. Normally getting him to talk about anything then movies, music, and the Impala was hard. This was a whole other side of him she hadn't seen yet. "I lied to keep you safe." The rest of the words died on the tip of his tongue like he wanted to say more but he couldn't bring himself to instead he crossed the room and grasped her hips in his hands, and pulled her to him.

His mouth found hers, kissing her, she whined and wanted to twist away from him but she couldn't, as much as she was furious with him for leaving her to mourn and deal with everything that she had gone through, she still needed him, she still craved him.

He was that missing part of her. Sure there had been other guys including Antonio Dawson, the detective that she had reached out to but that was a drunk mistake. But nothing, nothing ever compared to Dean.

And nothing ever would.

His hands roaming her body and pushing and pulling at the articles of her clothing stopped all the thoughts out of her head and instead she let herself get lost in these feelings. Her own hands reached up and pushed off not only that heavy leather jacket he wore followed by the unbuttoned button-up shirt off of his body.

Maybe just for one night, it was okay to forget everything.

The next morning

Antonio Dawson went to raise his hand to knock on Ellie's front door and was stopped by Sam opening the door. "Who are you?" He was unable to help himself, for the last year he had developed a soft spot for Ellie Scott, not just because of how she helped them out but because of how good of friends she was with his sister Gabby, and the other two paramedics at Firehouse 51. And not to mention the time they had spent alone together when he and his wife were having problems. "I am Sam." "Winchester?" Sam sighed, he should have known that Ellie would have talked especially if it was about him or Dean. "I take it your brother is here too?"

"I am." Dean's voice came as he came down the stairs, pulling a t-shirt over his head, "Ellie will be down in a second, who the hell are you?"

"Antonio! What're you doing here?" Ellie's voice came from the top of the stairs, "Sammy let him in, he is the cop that I reached out to last night. He's Gabby's brother."

Sam had to think for a moment before nodding his head, he had met Gabby Dawson the one time Ellie had come out to California had come to see him and he had treated her badly. She had read him the riot act about how he treated Ellie and it had surprised him, he wasn't used to anyone other than Dean and Bobby taking up for Ellie but still, he stepped to the side.

"I got some news about the case and about what you asked me last night." The detective answered, his fingers twitching to text Gabby and have her and Shay come over and try and talk Ellie out of whatever she was thinking of doing.

From the stories he had heard, things clicked in his head, he was very well aware that Ellie would do anything she could for the Winchester brothers. The love bites that littered her neck were proof of that. "What about her case?" Dean asked before Sam could ask about their father, and it made Sam angry, he wanted to know what was going on with their father and to find out what killed Jess. But Dean was more concerned with what was going on with Ellie.

It was almost typical.

"The guy is escalating, they want us to take you, Gabby, Shay, and Libby into protective custody. There was a body found near the firehouse." Antonio didn't miss how Dean tugged Ellie closer to him, and Sam stepped in front of her like they could protect her from everything.

"The girl looked a lot like you and Libby."

"He's targeting me? Specifically." "We think so."

"What are the others doing? I know that Shay and Gabby aren't going to bow down and out, they are going to go on shift."

"They are, Severide is taking Libby to New York for a few days until we can catch the guy."

"She isn't going into protective custody." Dean threw in after a few seconds.

"It's not your choice. It's hers, she is her own person." Dean laughed bitterly and went to move around Ellie to confront him. When it came to Ellie, he knew what was best for her, he always did, her hand on his chest and the other grasping at his boxers stopped. "He is right, I am not going into protective custody Tony. I would rather stay with them."

"They can't protect you, Ellie." Antonio was angry, he was worried that Ellie was going to get hurt. His sister told him all about the heartbreak that the girl had suffered by being in love with Dean Winchester.

"The hell we can't!" Dean growled, his fist clenching at his side, ready to take steps forward but Ellie was in front of him, her hands on his chest.

"Dean, calm down, he doesn't mean anything about it. Tony tell us what you found out about John." She gave her friend a stern look to drop it, this wasn't the time or place to start stuff. Sam clapped his hand on his brother's shoulder and spoke lowly to him and his hand caught Ellie pulling her with them.

The Detective watched the two brothers with his friend and his frown deepened, she was sitting more or less on Dean's lap and Sam was sitting as close as he could without being on top of them. They were overprotective he would give them that but at the same time, they both also had hurt Ellie way too much. And he didn't want to see her hurt anymore. He had seen it enough, he, Severide, and Casey were the ones that pulled her away from the bar when she was mostly recovered from her surgery.

"Thanks, Antonio, I really appreciate you looking into that for me." Ellie said a while later, leading the detective out of the townhouse, "They mean a lot to me." Antonio glanced back into the hallway where both brothers were standing near the hallway and to eavesdrop. "You know we would do anything for you, especially after that one thing you handled for us. Just be careful with that, Gabby, and I won't take lightly to someone hurting you again not when you could be dating someone here."

"Get out of here and tell your sister not to worry, that I will be okay." The detective nodded his head before smirking, taking a step forward and pressing a kiss against her mouth, and tossing a wink over her shoulder at the brothers.

"Troublemaker." She hissed as he went down the stairs laughing.

"Don't start." She ordered as she shut the door, both brothers were standing in the hallway, the younger one looking annoyed and the older look furious. "He is a friend and that's all."

"A friend that you make out with?" Sam asked cutting in before Dean could. He had only seen Ellie with other guys, that wasn't his brother in high school and it was odd. "And you haven't?" She returned raising her eyebrow, "Or did you not bang Jenny Martin in high school after you claimed the same thing?"

There was that old spark in her eyes, the one that had been missing when she got hurt like she was going to be ready to go to war if and when she had to. They could practically feel the anger pouring off of the older Winchester, he wanted to explode and say all the things that he had been holding in but he was holding on the best he could. "Look, I tried to have a life after hunting Dean, and that's all you need to know." She paused and chewed on the inside of her cheek, "You tried to do the same thing."

Dean's face turned white and his grip that he had on her shirt loosened. "Yeah, Vannah told me about Lisa." Sam looked between the two and cleared his throat, normally he was all for them fighting but right now he didn't want to try and play peacemaker, "Why don't we go out and get something to eat, and you can show us the firehouse." "And look for a case." Ellie stepped in quickly, relieved that Sam suggested that, she knew Dean wasn't going to let the fact that she was, "It will be good to tell Chief Boden that I am going to be off shift until they catch this guy. And no, you aren't going to do anything about it. Let Antonio and PD do their jobs please.'

The plea was going to fall on deaf ears, as it usually did especially when it came to Ellie.
